When my garage door's damaged rails reached a point where I worried it might either not go up…read moreagain, or not close again, I realized I needed to get it repaired. I reached out to several companies including Garage Door Pro Long Island, and Nino was the fastest to respond. We immediately scheduled a time the next morning that was convenient for us both (since Nino was booked that whole day), so he could take a look at how bad my garage door was. Much to my pleasant surprise, Nino called me later that afternoon to ask if I was still available since he finished with his appointments earlier than expected. I was and Nino came right over. When Nino and Angel (his assistant) came, they were extremely professional, had all the equipment they could possibly need, listened to all my needs and concerns, communicated all my options (including very reasonable rates), and then gave me the time and space to make my decisions on how to proceed. I initially contacted Garage Door Pro Long Island and Nino to fix a derailed garage door mechanism. But I had admittedly ignored my garage door for decades. During the Estimate visit, I realized and trusted that Nino would be the right guy to replace the entire garage door (and not just fix this lingering rail problem). He and I were on the same page but I stated my desire to replace the entire door. He never even suggested it. Once I asked him about it, he agreed this was a better long-term course of action and investment in my property. His quote was extremely reasonable and he worked with me to have it fit within my budget, even though I didn't intend on spending this much money on a whole new garage door. Lots of things about my garage door were out-of-standard. Not only was the door decades old and rusting from within (with holes large enough for the cats to walk in and out of the garage), but the door frame was also 3 inches off from the standard height (6'3" vs. 6'6"), and the garage door frame sides were also thicker than standard (so they initially got in the way when the new door closed). Even with all of these unexpected factors (that led to delays in completion), Nino and Angel just worked through these things to fix them, all the while keeping me informed of what was going on. They promised the job would take about 4 hours (even before knowing about some of these delays), and they still finished earlier than promised. I appreciated that Nino fit me in in between several jobs already scheduled that day because I need to travel out of town for a few days. Payment was easy, with a receipt and a smile. Nino and Angel left my garage looking quite brand new, with a little garage door lock and handle and everything. The garage door has never looked this good and worked so smoothly. It's ready for another 20 years (just kidding... but probably). I am really glad that I hired these professionals and hope you will be too. If I ever need their help again, they're my first call. If someone asks me for a referral, they're top of my list. NOTE: I will add the post-Nino Garage Door photos later. I was so excited with their work that I forgot to take a photo :-)

So a few days ago, the house I acquired a few years, the garage door started to act funny, getting stuck etc. After asking around for recommendations I didn't get a wholehearted one so I turned to yelp. I read a few reviews of this establishment so I decided to give a try. First, the person who answered the phone was friendly and understanding as I was describing sounds and all that's not professional jargon but he got the drift and told me that someone can come the same day to take a look. I didn't expect that but was delighted. The two young men who came to check the problem were Mateo and Alex, nice young men who are professional and courteous. They check the problem and explain to my hubby and myself of the problem and also they didn't try to pull a fast one over us by trying to sell us a brand new system ( which I cannot afford at this time anyway). They came back the next day promptly of the time they promised but ran a little late because of the traffic which is understandable because we are in Bay Ridge and they had to go over that terrible bridge traffic. Once they are here they went straight to work and they even cleaned up afterwards!!! They offered to remove the old stuff that they replaced. They even got me two additional remotes and programmed so I didn't just have one which my 15 yo almost lost it once. Overall I would highly recommend them again and I found out they also do commercial gates too so I will be reaching out to them when that time come for my business.

In the past, I used a particular garage company that I was generally satisfied with. However, for…read moresome reason, I decided to shop around for the latest upgrades I wanted for my garage. I was interested in upgrading to a Wi-Fi-enabled garage opener because there are times, I need my car shipped from another location, and I might not be home when it arrives. Additionally, I like the Amazon delivery program, were, in inclement weather or by request, they can access my garage to deliver packages. What impressed me most about the individual who came to replace my garage door motor was that he recognized other potential problems that could cause me to lose my garage door. He wasn't trying to upsell me; he simply noticed issues that should be addressed. My initial request was to replace only one garage door motor and track, but he pointed out that the other opener was 12 years old, something I wasn't aware of and he offered what seemed like a fair deal for replacing both. The only thing I wasn't aware of was that I am responsible for disposing of the old garage motor and track. That was not a problem at all. Sanitation had no trouble disposing of the old garage motor and track. Overall, I highly recommend the company, and I will take responsibility for the garbage.

Smart Garage doors came out to install a new opener I had purchased. The price quoted was fair and…read moreconsistent with other quotes I received. When the tech arrived, I asked how much it would cost to install new rollers on the doors. His original quote of $300 per door was outrageous-- 2-3x other quotes. Thankfully I was an informed consumer and negotiated down to $160, a premium price but I just wanted it done. As for the install, the tech installed the opener but had difficult pairing the opener with my vehicle. After some time he said the opener was defective, but he eventually figured it out. However, during the process he erased the pairing with my other two doors which he also had extreme difficulty pairing. On of the doors he literally could not pair and, again, said it was a problem with the opener and tried to leave me with this problem. I had to intervene and lookup the instructions for this opener and found it had a rolling code system from the 90s, something this tech had never heard of. With my instructions, he was able to pair the door to the car. He spent over an hour on pairing the doors to one car. In the process, he left grease marks from his hands on the headliner of my vehicle. When he replaced the rollers, he bent the metal door sails to slide out the old ones and slide in the new ones. All the DIY videos I had watched said this was a bad practice as it's literally bending your rails which will never Ben perfectly back. Of course, this is the fastest way to do it and took home 10 minutes per door, which at the price I had negotiated was outrageous and would have been borderline criminal at the original quoted price of $300 per door. He bent the rails back as best he could when he was done. Finally, the tech mounted the opener button to my wall obviously crooked. He also did not know how to connect the opener to a second button, something that another company had no issue in doing for a different door. To add insult to injury, the installer did not take the older opener with him. The old opener had one solid 10' steel rod which made it challenging to dispose of. Overall, my experience was substandard at best and feels like a hack job. There was nothing "Smart" about it as their name suggests. I am leaving two stars instead of one because the opener does function, but even that I think is generous.

Company came the same day to fix the metal door. The company does fantastic work. My cellar door was broken into and I needed it fixed. The technician/owner recommended that I get a large circular lock and he said that it would take hours to cut through. The gates were fixed and they did a wonderful job. Price was very reasonable, given it was almost the next day after our initial contact. However, my main issue with the company is their lack of communication and follow through. I had another issue with a metal door. The representative said he would come back to fix it. I had an inspection coming up and the previous inspector cited me for a broken door. I tried to contact the same person several times. He said "we are busy but I will get to you." Weeks went by and I texted him weekly. He continuously responded that he would get to it eventually. Inspection came and I was cited once again for the broken door. My last text was to please notify me if they could fix it or I will go somewhere else. NO RESPONSE. Common courtesy would be indicate that you can't do it. TL:DR : Work is fantastic. communication and follow through is horrible.
