If I could, I would leave a 25-star review! Ash was absolutely wonderful. I stopped in yesterday to have a key fob reprogrammed and was asked to come back this morning at 8:30 when the boss would be there to assist me--which I did. I asked Ash if he could reprogram my key fob. He took a look at it, stepped away for about three minutes, and came back to tell me that the battery was simply in upside down! LOL! I truly appreciated his honesty. He could have easily charged me for something I didn't need, but instead he fixed the problem and saved me $$$$! I will absolutely be back and will recommend them to everyone I know. Wonderful, honest customer service! Thank you, ASH!!! You made my day! read more

friendly services, they went out of there way to help me for a tiny screw for my car keyfob.

I am super happy with Advance Lock and Key. Ash has truly saved me during a crisis- stolen keys, broken locks, and expert car key fob re-setting. I trust them fully- excellent knowledge and skills, but really great customer service as well. Could't be nicer. I would never go anywhere else. read more

Ash Wechsler came to replace a garage door lock. Upon assessing the garage door he advised that replacing the lock alone would not fix the problem correctly. He could have just replaced the lock but gave me recommendation for a garage door company upon my request. Honest, professional and personable. Really cares about the quality and reputation of his work read more

I called Advance Lock and Key because they had been recommended by a neighbor. They were closing in 45 minutes, and I was about 30 minutes away. Ash said to bring it down and that we'd see what we could do. My Honda CR-V wouldn't open; both key fobs had stopped working (despite battery changes) and even the valet key wouldn't turn the lock. Luckily, one fob managed to work one last time. I drove to Advance, where Ash tested both fobs and confirmed they were dead (which I already knew). He quickly found the correct replacement model. Meanwhile, one of the old fobs kept sending the "lock" signal, so by the time we walked to the parking lot to program the new fob, the door was locked again. Ash quickly grabbed his door-opening tools and got it open. The total cost was about half of what Honda would have charged. read more

Came here by the recommendation of a neighbor. Met Ash for the first time and he treated me like I was part of his family. Not only did he do such a great job, but he was fair and very personable. I'll definitely be recommending my friends and family on the island to come here for their services. There is a reason why they are still in business after all this time. read more

I went to Advance Lock Staten Island on Hylan Blvd on the 28th or 29th of June 2026. I went to get an extra key for my car. I did write a review on Facebook. Do not know if it shows up. I decided I have to get this review online for people to view. Ash the owner was there he made the key and I only had a credit card. Ash said do not worry about it. but he insisted, He said no, He then said wherever you come back. He insisted again. I am the kind of person who always pays my bills. But he said Renee forget it. I cannot forget how honest and kind he was. You do not meet people like Ash anymore. I told him I loved the renovations he had done. Looks great spacious and a lot of new products to choose from. But most of all when to have someone like Ash who knows his business and is honest, this is the kind of place where you want to shop. He will do his best to help you whatever it is. You do not meet people like this these days. Blessings to you always Ash. I will be back on July 4th after work to pay my bill. Even though you said it was ok. Great Person great Products!!!!!! Great Service, Great Quality and great Value. Thank you again, Ash. Happy 4th!!! See you soon...Renee read more

Ashe was such a pleasure to deal with. He got back to me within five minutes when I went to the shop he helped me with my key fob. He was honest about spending too much money and told me how to save money . He wasn't looking to take extra money from me only help me out. He took his time and patience to explain everything that was going on and what he was doing. This is not my first time going there, and I continue to go back because of the great customer service and loyalty to their customers. He even said I could come back and pay him when I didn't have enough cash on me. He wasn't worried about the dollar he was just happy. He was able to help me . If you're looking for a trustworthy and honest businessman, this is the place to go.. read more

Great service!! Ashe is so knowledgeable and treats customers like family. Highly recommend!

They are a hidden gem in the island. A professional locksmith with local ties that treats everyone like family. Wanted to get the blades on my new car on transponders I ordered cut. Did it all quickly and for a very reasonable price. A value added service with expertise at a fantastic price and to top it all off the type of warmth and friendliness that has seemed to dissappear from most of the island. Staff are so friendly and Ash is on point with his expertise. Highly recommended. read more

My family and I have been using Advance Lock and Key for over 20 years now and this time was no different. Ash was incredibly helpful in helping me clone the key for my car. He accurately cut my car key and pulled transplanted the transponder chip from my old car key, without me having said so. Would absolutely recommend A+++ incredibly helpful great customer service. Fantastic experience. read more

It's always tricky getting a locksmith to change your locks especially when you love what's already there but only need it to be re-keyed. In my case, it was more complicated since it was an old but unique bolt and hard to match. I called Advance lock and they sent a gentleman whose name was as unique as he was, "Ash". He was appreciative of the unique lock and up for the challenge and did NOT disappoint. He was such a pleasure and I would recommend this place and make sure to ask for, ASH! You won't be disappointed read more

I wanted to make a spare copy of my keys, and I gotta say their selection of keys WAS AWESOME!!! The second I saw Star Wars keys, I was sold. The Staff is super, super friendly. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The keys fit and works perfectly. I've gone to big box stores and had issues where the key just did not fit properly. For house keys, car keys, and anything else you can imagine that needs to be locked, head there. read more

I needed a motorcycle key made and none of the places close by carried the blanks to duplicate it for me. I almost gave up.... I remembered there is a Lock & Key store where I previously lived and around for many years. I was greeted very pleasantly like I'm a VIP customer. He went straight to the keys and really like a Surgeon he cut the key like magic effortlessly even made sure it fit the motorcycle. It even fit better than the previous key I came with. Thanks Ash!! If I need any keys, I know where I'm going. read more

Without exception the premier locksmith on Staten Island or dare I say the city Ash is an incredible craftsman who can likely solve any problem you have, or die trying. I've used advance on two occasions and in both instances, other shops told me it couldn't be done. I was charged a fair price for both. But what sets this shop above any others in Ash and his commitment to customer service and not overcharging because the customer is in duress. Highly recommended. read more

I know times are tough, but ripping off a customer is uncalled for. I was charged $100 for and old case for my original FOB. Be wary of the fast talking Ash. Dear Ash, I respectfully disagree with your assessment. First of all it was cloudy, not raining. The brand new head you mention is an old piece of plastic from another key that you had in a drawer. I also had told you I had put new batteries in the units, so why would you replace the batteries? As the pictures show, the FOB's are the original units. An honest review will not hurt you but inform you on how to fairly treat your customers. Very sad how one review can ruin your reputation. I never said you were disrespectful. Nor am I being disrespectful by expressing my honest opinion with facts that substantiate that opinion. I wish you all the best, but don't react so maliciously to just one review. You will be in business for many years to come!! Dear Sir, What's sad is that you are unable to accept an honest review by calling me a liar. That's sad and disrespectful! It is appalling how one small review can affect you so deeply. Your apparent responses prove my point that your subconscious is bothering you substantially enough to respond in such a harsh manner. You should admit to yourself your shortcomings by admitting the truth rather than disparaging one single review. It's quite petty!!! Good luck with that!! read more

Moving to a new house is stressful along with all of the associated tasks that need to be completed. Security is very important to my husband and I, so naturally, replacing our locks was first priority since we had no idea who had copies of our key after the house was on the market for a while. Ash could not have been nicer or easier to work with. He alleviated so much stress in the moving process. He was easily available and accommodated our schedule. He met with my husband and I in our home, explained our options, providing both catalogs and also samples of the various locks and he was also was able to provide feedback regarding style of lock to match the aesthetic of our home (an added bonus!). My husband and I were eager to have our new locks installed and Ash provided multiple updates on when the locks would be ready as they were a custom job. As soon as the locks arrived in his shop, he quickly set up an installation date. When the day arrived, he was punctual and efficient. He also took the time to make sure my husband and I were happy with the job. Ash had us try each of the locks individually and made sure we both felt comfortable with our new locks. Pricing wise, he was very fair and comparable, if not better, than the other quotes we received. I could not recommend Advance Lock and Key enough. I will definitely be using them in the future for all of our security needs. read more

I recently purchased a new used car, at the end of the transaction I was handed only one set of keys. I enquired about one key and they said they had no other key to give me. We were referred to Advance to replace our main entrance door knobs. We contacted Advance and made an appointment with Ash who was amazing! He came to our home to assess our door and guide us towards the best decision. Ash spent time with us on the phone and in person, not only supporting us with any questions we had but also helping us address any unplanned concerns that came along the way. Ash came back to our home again to install the door knobs himself and he even went to my moms house when she locked herself out of her own home! We couldn't be happier to have found Advance Lock and Key and Ash! read more

The key to my filing cabinet broke inside the lock. I called at the last minute asking to bring it in and Ash told me to come right over. Getting it out was tough, we thought he might have to drill it out but he was able to get it out after a few minutes. They also made me an extra copy of the key. It was all for a reasonable price. Everything took about 10mins. Ash is such a great, friendly, helpful guy. He saw me rolling it from my car and helped me bring it in and also put it back in my car for me. I didn't know it at the time but they also have a parking lot in the back of the store. I would definitely come back again. read more

My 6 year old misplaced my 2016 Rogue car keys. They were a flip key fob. I tore up the house looking for them. Went to see Ash at Advance to get a replacement. I was a walkin. He came within 10 minutes to help me and I had a spare key made within 30 minutes. Everyone was very nice in the store. The key ended up being $30 less than another locksmith in staten island. Guess what? I found the key the next day behind my sons fruit loop box. Unfortunately, the owner of Advance told me that the keys CANNOT be reprogrammed for another car so a deal could not be worked out. The store has a parking lot off Hylan blvd so you dont have to back out on go the main blvd. Very convenient. read more

I've been using Advance lock for as long as I living in Staten Island and that's 30 years. I think it's time to give them the rating they deserve. I've had keys made and locks installed and were extremely satisfied with everything they've done. Ash is prompt on his appointments and does immaculate and quick work. Everyone working in the store is knowledgable and courteous. They have a big selection of anything key and lock related. No need for any other locksmith! read more

My parents moved into a senior complex and the existing lock was shoddy. I knew I needed a major security upgrade and I found out about this place online. I spoke with Ash, owner of the business and immediately was able to make an appointment for the following morning. Ash was prompt and took the time to explain the quote and the type of lock system that he recommends. I settled on the MUL-T-LOCK cylinder system and although it was not cheap, the brand has a great reputation for a medium security system comparable to Medeco. The removal and the installation was done professionally. I am highly satisfied with my overall experience and would not hesitate to recommend Advance Lock and Key for all of your locksmith and security needs! Ash is a great asset to the locksmith profession! read more
