I am a HUGE Frame Central fan, particularly this location. We moved to Seattle in 2010 and have been going here to get art framed ever since. Generally we like coming here for getting prints (standard and non-standard sizes) framed and even had a 9' x 3' canvas mounted as well and no matter the project, they take their time to walk through options and never hurry me out the door. They do excellent work and are nice folks and I am happy to support them. I've been to other places that were closer to me since moving out of the hill but the experience wasn't the same. I live in Magnolia now and am happy to make the drive to the hill even though there is a place that I could go to right down the street. These guys rock and I absolutely recommend them. We came in with a huge collection of projects that we'd been storing up, and they did an excellent job. They were very patient with our finicky matting and framing preferences, identifying exactly what we were looking for and offering some great suggestions for offsetting a photograph that had yellowed from age/light exposure so it still looks great and is protected now. They were also really great about pricing out different options so we could hem and haw about glass vs. acrylic and realistically going over what we did and didn't need for each item. All of the framing was then finished well before the predicted time, and it looks fantastic on our walls! read more

I like to start by saying I do not know much about the custom framing world and was very shocked at first when I started to investigate pricing to get a frame for a local art piece I picked up. There seems to be a big gap in pricing between off the shelf frames and custom cut one. But with that said from my point of view after this experience there is a major quality and aesthetic difference that is worth the cost of getting things custom framed. Frame Central on capital hill and especially James who works at this location was/is FANTASTIC to say it humbly. James spent the time and had no problems answering all my novice questions and inquiries about the process and all sorts. I wanted this order done before the upcoming weekend to surprise a visiting friend. James took that in consideration and was able to finish my order in such an unbelievable quick turn around. I was very surprised and so so grateful. The people who work here are pros who know their stuff, but they're never condescending when I have questions. I came here to find a frame for a piece I had made for my dad's b-day, which I had finished literally hours before I was going to present it to him. Not very great timing on my part (although you can't always choose when you'll get inspired), but Central Frame helped make it work! The size frame I wanted was not in stock, so the super-helpful woman at the counter called their sister store (Museum Quality Framing) in Madison Park to have it held for me. In the meantime, anticipating that the smaller store wouldn't have the matting I needed, she recommended one (great suggestion, btw), then cut and mounted my work for me. Framing is one of my least favorite activities as I get overwhelmed with decision paralysis. Nothing is worse than having the person who is helping you do nothing leaving you frantically pulling options, or offer up suggestions that don't look great. Luckily the folks here, Torrey and Erin, were experts - they offered up multiple different directions and we talked them through until we landed on ones we unanimously liked. In addition, they have a quick turn around time of 2 weeks and a 30 day return policy if for some reason you want it redone. I will definitely come here again for future framing projects! read more

Not only was the retail space one of the coolest, most welcoming places on Capitol Hill, but Dennis was more helpful and knowledgeable than I could have hoped for. He took my custom framing project and turned it into something incredible and special, while making sure to stay in my budget. Custom framing and $400 later... They left a hair on the print behind the glass. They redid it... Then we bring it home and find text on the mat or the glass showing (so now thats all we see when we look at it) and so we bring it back AGAIN. This d bag with a beard says "Oh you just have to shake it out of view." oh ok. So $400 later and I just have to shake the picture every once and a while. Oh ok sure. Next time no thanks. read more

Minimal selection, especially in the ready-to-go frames. There's a bigger selection even at IKEA! After spending almost a half hour with the staff choosing materials for me, they only told me the price (for the most expensive frame, matting, glass, etc that they carried) after everything. I felt completely trapped into it, and was shocked by the price. I'm fully aware that custom framing is expensive, but it was ridiculous. I forwent the pricier materials, against their advice, and still felt the pricing was ridiculous. Also, despite what they said, they never called me to say my pieces were ready for pick up. I had to call 3 weeks later to ask. Next time I will go to Michael's. read more

This place is awesome. It's a little pricey but the service and quality is top notch. When my grandpa passed away, I brought in his army photo to frame for display at his memorial. They were so kind a helpful and made the photo look absolutely beautiful. They really worked with me to make sure it looked the way I wanted it. A young lady helped me and denied me the DIY options that they offer and advertise, claiming that they are too busy to let people do DIY. She then proceeded to aggressively push a custom frame job that wasn't what I was asking for and was out of my budget. At the end of this experience I was exhausted and I was forced to shop around and found a shop that was more reasonable. I know framing is expensive but I have never had customer service this bad.
