Museum Quality Framing - Framing Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I have a large collection of Chinese and Tibetan art, as well as many historical family photographs. I tried a number of frame shops in Seattle, Bellevue, and Issaquah with mixed results, including one disaster. Then when I discovered Capitol Hill Museum Quality Framing, I found a real "gem." Cheryl Swent, the manager, helped me, and for the past seven years I have used only Capitol Hill Museum Quality framing. Cheryl combines three important attributes, a wealth of knowledge and experience, unlimited patience with her customers, and the ability to achieve the highest quality frame results time after time. Thank you, Cheryl. read more

Museum Quality Framing - Vintage Chinese Silk Embroidered Dragon Kesi. - Framing Near Me - Seattle, Washington

My second experience here and it was, like the first, excellent. Cheryl and her crew did a lovely and precise job of matting two of my photographs for an exhibit. Was planning to get the frames from an acquaintance but that fell through and I needed them in a timely fashion so I came back to MQF. Cheryl made sure I received them in time and everything was perfect. Pleasant, patient, helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I had a special photo series that I wanted to commemorate, so I figured it was time to opt for custom framing rather than DIY. I had no ideas in mind when I walked in to MQF. Cheryl was like a framing consultant, showing me various options in different price ranges. She pulled out plain and textured mats, beveled mats, bevels with colors, wood, wood-like and metal frames, always keeping in mind what would highlight or contrast with the colors in the photos. Finally, I narrowed down the mat, frame and glass. I paid half of the total to get things started, and was also able to use one of those Valupak coupons for a discount. Cheryl told me it would be done in 7-10 days, so I was pleasantly surprised when they called me mid-week to say my frame was ready. I stopped in to pick up my frame today, and it far exceeded my expectations. I think I gave a squeal of glee when I saw the awesome photos in their new home! I'm so happy with the final product and highly recommend Museum Quality Framing for your special projects. They also have regular frames and wall art worth checking out, too. read more

I chose Museum Quality Framing based on Julie B's 5 star review and the fact that it's right around the corner from my apartment. I went in with a nice 1960's paint by number mountain scene and a very vague idea of what I wanted for a frame ("Northwest"). Cheryl immediately ruled out a matt and glass (neither of which I wanted) and moved into the area that I needed help with, the frame. After suggesting a handful of frames, she got out of me that I also wanted "vintage" and she was able to pick up on the colors that I wanted to bring out. Ten minutes in, we had the frame and fillet figured out. (I never knew that that thin inner border was called a fillet, nor that I needed one, but it's perfect.) She also quickly understood the shortcomings of the painting (beat up left lower corner, narrow top edge of scene). It was framed perfectly. I also used a Valpak coupon, but I didn't mention it until after I got home and found it online and called MQF. Cheryl still honored it. Quite a bit more expensive than DIY as Julie B said, but totally worth it. I highly recommend Museum Quality Framing! read more

A friend made me a custom piece of artwork which I wanted to get framed and hang in my apartment. I checked with several frame shops around town and Museum Quality Framing had the best quote + the frame style that I liked the best (and was also the most conveniently located). Cheryl was very professional and friendly and helped us decide what style of glass to get, and made sure she had a clear understanding of what it was we wanted. She said the framing would be done in 2 weeks, and it ended up being a few days less than that, which was great. The art is gorgeous and everyone who has come to the apartment since it's been framed and hung, has been blown away by how stunning it looks. The only negative part of the experience, and why I gave it 4 stars, was that the quote ended up being low by about $200. I realize custom framing is expensive, and the results were well worth the money, but it was a bit of a nasty shock to have such an increase from the original estimate to the final price. read more

I got a canvas painting framed here a few months ago as a Mother's Day present, because my mom is, you know, awesome and stuff. They did a terrific job all the way through. The staffer helped me select a frame with a style and color that matched the painting beautifully, and the work that they did was excellent. (Mom really liked it, in case you were wondering!) Also, when I picked it up, another staffer gave me some suggestions of businesses who are reliable for packing and shipping framed art, and the advice was spot-on (the FedEx on Broadway, which will be getting a 5-star review from me!). It was expensive, but I suppose that's what you'd expect for quality custom framing. One thing I'd suggest to anyone who is shopping here: take your time and be prepared to have lots of options thrown at you. The staffer basically said "you can do this or this or this and then you can add this or you could do this instead and add this and this...." It was a lot to take in rather quickly and felt a little breathless...if I had it to do over again, I might have gone with fewer frills and kept the cost down but still ended up with a really nice frame. read more

About 15 or 20 years ago - I don't recall exactly when - I had a 3 part series of maps (North Cascades East, Central & West) mounted on foam board with a pane of glass on top done here. No external wood frame; some special twine and a system of plastic clips held each together (least expensive choice available). Yesterday one of the plastic clips on one of the maps failed and the map "fell" partially and could no longer hold its position on the wall. I took it in for repair which they gladly did for free. They would supply all new "framing" parts. I discussed the two other maps framed similarly and asked if the one failure indicated the plastic parts may have reached the end of their useful lives and could they replace those parts as well. Sure! And for free? Of course! I had all 3 at the store by late Sunday afternoon and they called about 10:00 Monday morning to say they were ready. The staff used firm cardboard pieces the same size as the the glass and individually wrapped them in heavy paper for easy transport; no worry about glass edges cutting into car upholstery. They always do good work (they have framed paintings and other quality photos for me, too) and stand behind it the way I wish more businesses would. All service was with a smile and genuine willingness to please. I was very pleasantly surprised as such good service and attitude seems so rare these days. read more

My friend had just passed away and I was setting up some gifts for his mom. I had a photo that I just printed and needed a frame. I came into this shop, was greeted right away by Krista, she helped me find the right sized mat and even let me put everything together right there on their work space. This was very helpful as I was traveling and had not a lot of space where I was staying. Krista even went out of her way to wrap this special gift. Very highly recommended!! read more

I recently had a antique textile framed here. They listened to what I wanted, showed me all the options with prices, gave me a discount, and finally did a beautiful job and gave me exactly what I wanted within the time frame they quoted. Definitely worth the $350 price tag for a large beautiful frame, hand sewn mounting, and really "museum quality" framing job. read more

They really do an amazing job. The staff is really helpful and friendly. I would recommend them for any framing job.

Great customer service. Good quality product. Krista consulted with us to figure out what we wanted despite our own indecisiveness and helped us keep the price within our budget. read more

Lots of great options on custom and pre-made framing. Amazing customer service. Could not have had a better experience.

Customer service was great both over the phone and in-person. They helped us pick a budget-friendly custom frame option and helped figure out mat color and size and frames that worked with the artwork - very professional. The piece turned out gallery-ready and way better than had I tried to work something off the shelves. Note that a normal custom frame order takes 2 weeks. I had to pay a $30 rush fee to get it back in 4 days. Otherwise it would have been under $100. read more

Super friendly staff helped me choose a nice and budget friendly frame. 10/10 would return.

Great service, guidance and a very speedy turnaround. Delighted with our framed print.

Brought in a few pieces to get framed here, staff was super helpful and friendly. Check out their budget frames if you want to spend less $$$$, there are less options but it is a way cheaper way to frame your art! read more

I was looking for a framer for my diploma. Just got the finished product today and it looks GREAT! Walking in, I didn't know what I wanted. The customer service is awesome, consultative. The woman working with me offered suggestions and it all came together. Just a tip: Look at the various glass options you have. The top level, it's truly museum quality... I didn't even know there was glass there. No reflection, almost invisible. It's remarkable. I love their work, their customer service, and they way they operate as a business. Excellent! read more

I had a simple 8 by 10 print framed here this week. Helpful, good suggestions and feed back helping me pick the most complimentary frame.

Great service. The staff is patient and creative, and they will work with you to find a frame that suits your budget. They stand behind their work with a great guarantee: if you're not happy with the final product, you can return the piece within 30 days and they will re-do the frame for you. My husband and I have used them to frame lots of different artwork for our house, from paper prints to trickier 3-D objects, and we have been thrilled with the results. read more

These guys were fantastic. I bought a painted canvas that I thought I'd never be able to afford to have framed, but they were so friendly and helpful in helping me find an really great option in my price range. Their customer service is outstanding and the quality of the work--even for me, who was clearly like, "Give me your cheapest option," was amazing. read more

I just picked up my framed art from Museum Quality Framing and am SO happy with it. Krista was very helpful, had a good eye and gave helpful suggestions when I wasn't quite sure what direction to go. She was also quick to see the vision I had for framing other pieces and helped find mats and frames that fulfilled what I was going for. I also brought in a stained and water damaged photograph and MQF sent it off to a restoring company for assessment and possible restoration. Krista stayed in touch with me about this consistently and let me know my options and the timeline for turnaround. I decided to get the photo restored and it was both better and faster than I had hoped for. Highly recommend!! read more

Two important framing tasks in the past month--both came out beautifully. A large map and a smaller photo portrait were done in the most professional way, but the always courteous and thoughtful staff. They are artists, and it is great to have them in the neighborhood. read more

I have worked with MQF on 15th several times before and have always been happy. Recently, I had nine items to be framed so I could transport out of state. Fortunately I arrived at a fairly quiet time and could spread out my works on both tables. I actually prefer to be left alone to look around, at least for a while. MQF's astute staff recognized that immediately and asked me if I would like to be left to browse. Who does that! When I was ready for input, she gave me immediate attention and provided excellent suggestions for the final refinements. I was on a tight time line to get the order. While the warehouse was closed at the time I was there and the availability of materials could not be confirmed, the materials ended up being available and they completed my order three days earlier that my critical deadline, and all gorgeous! HUGELY appreciated! Thank you, MQF. I will return for more framing (for holiday gifts) very soon! read more
