I was excited to potentially get some posters framed here because I can tell this shop is…read moreprofessional in the framing jobs they do, but this rating is mostly due to customer service miscommunication. I called the shop earlier in the day to ask if they would accept a half down payment for the total cost of the frame job because most frame shops will work with you on that and this was the only way I could afford it. The guy I spoke to told me they had stopped doing it due to customers never showing up to pick up their framed items, but could potentially work with me as long as I made the full payment BEFORE picking it up which I was more than happy to do. I showed up in person later with my poster to go over the matting, frame choices etc. and it was a different guy who I didn't speak to over the phone. When I got my quote at the end, I was told they would not accept any down payment and needed the full payment before cutting the frames. While I understand the reason for this and that they want customers to commit to paying them, I wish they had some clarification on their website and/or I didn't get mixed information when I spoke to the man on the phone because I feel like it was a waste of my time to come in and go through choosing the matting/poster frame. Nonetheless the framing jobs are beautiful but not a fan of the mixed customer service I received, would have been happy to give them my business if they offered down payments.

Blick Art Materials in Seattle handled a frustrating situation with serious professionalism…read more We bought Arches 300lb watercolor paper online, and when we came in my dad was convinced it was the wrong weight. The associate who helped us (blonde hair, and I really wish I remembered her name) was calm, patient, and genuinely kind the entire time. She didn't turn it into an argument or make anyone feel talked down to. Instead, she immediately offered solutions: replace the paper or give us a refund. They didn't have the exact Arches paper my dad wanted to swap to, and she still went above and beyond by offering to call Blick and initiate an online return for us on the spot. That level of patience and customer service is rare. In the end, my dad decided to just keep the paper, but I left impressed with how well she handled everything. Big thanks to her and the Seattle team.

They are very helpful with suggestions, but at the same time not pushy - which we really like. We recently took in an old (~80 years) exhibition photograph which we have recently had restored. It hard not originally been framed with acid free materials - they likely did not exist at the time. But, we wanted to retain the feel and appearance of the original framing which had been done by the photographer. They were able to restore the frame, replace the matting with modern conservation materials while still maintaining the appearance of the original. We could not be more pleased! They have done equally excellent jobs with several contemporary pieces.

I recently ordered a ChromaLuxe metal print with aluminum Dibond backing from Bumblejax Print Lab in Seattle, and the result is outstanding. The image was a complex mountain landscape with deep shadows, bright highlights, and subtle color transitions. Bumblejax reproduced the file beautifully--the tonal transitions, detail, and color accuracy match my calibrated display remarkably well. The print arrived in extremely sturdy packaging, and the overall craftsmanship is truly gallery quality. If you are looking for fine art metal prints or ChromaLuxe metal prints, Bumblejax is an excellent choice. I will definitely be ordering from Bumblejax again and would gladly recommend them to other photographers and artists.

I received a pair of beautiful oil paintings as a gift from the artist. They arrived rolled up in a tube, and I spent a lot of time shopping around Seattle for a good way to preserve and display them. I checked out 7 shops here in the north/central part of Seattle. None were bad, but this place stood out for a few reasons: 1) SF&MG was more thorough than other places about discussing all of my options in different price ranges, and was patient and honest explaining things I didn't know about custom framing. 2) The frame suggestions were excellent. Peter's sharp eye, and perhaps SF&MG's inventory, produced a design that was unrivaled by any other shops. The scheme he suggested complimented my unusual paintings beautifully, and was impossible to recreate -- much less improve upon -- with other vendors. 3) Most of these places guarantee their prices, but SF&MG underbid their competitors (for standard stuff like getting the canvas onto the stretcher board) without even having to be told what their competitors quoted. 4) I'm really happy with the workmanship. The paintings look great, though of course I can't compare this to the shops I didn't choose... So, I have only one data point but so far so good with Simply Frames & Miner Gallery.

I wanted to send them a guide print to serve as a reference but they would not let me do it and no proofing available. It was a large Giclee so I was a little concerned as I have not ever worked with a lab that refused both guide print and proof. It was a reproduction of my wife's oil painting so color matching is important to us. Communication was over the phone and email so I might have gotten better service in person. A bit defensive when answering questions. Maybe it was me? or they are just too busy because they do good work at reasonable prices.
