A photo I captured in the French Quarter - My vision for the framing.

I had a vintage atlas map of New Orleans professionally framed here. Molly was extremely helpful and personable. The options were overwhelming, but she helps to navigate the creative process. If you are on a budget, she can suggest less costly options. My vision for this piece was brought to life and I couldn't be happier! Thank you so much Molly, I will be returning for future projects! If you are looking to have any photos, prints or art pieces professionally framed, I highly suggest Seattle Custom Framing. Molly works by appointment only, so either call or book online! Cheers!

My friend from the UK flew over to open an exhibit of his photographic art at Emerald City Medical Arts and we got all of the custom matting done for all of the pictures in the exhibit as well as some of the frames. I want to be very clear when I say that not only did they do a great job, but it was truly perfect. While we were there they were cutting the last one and it did not come out perfect so they went and did another one. I didn't even notice that there was anything wrong. These people pride themselves on providing excellent workmanship as well as impeccable customer service. I wish I could remember the name of the older woman who worked there. She was just great! She was full of knowledge and really had an eye for matching frames and matting. She was also very thorough on explaining all of the services and customized options. I was like a kid in a candy store, only this was way better than candy. We got a few frames made from other businesses and the workmanship was no where near as good as the workmanship here. We paid about the same amount of money but Seattle Custom Framing is hands down the best. I highly recommend Seattle Custom Frames. They won't let you down. You'll be glad you came here instead of going somewhere else.

My new art! The frame really is gorgeous....

My Ma is a lucky woman. I cannot tell you how many times she's won "things" or tickets to events or services....As an only child I usually reap the rewards as well which can be totally awesome (as it was today), or it can be practically painful (woo motocross. Not. I swear it's just not as fun with a woman in her 50s). As far as I'm concerned, details are unnecessary, I will accept any gift if the end result is, at the very least, a new experience and future memory with my amazing Ma. I digress. The Madre was offered her choice of one of several beautiful pieces of art, no charge. I could tell you another story to demonstrate how many different pieces of art she has on her walls (and shelves and leaning against walls and shelves) at home, but let's just keep it simple and say she has *plenty*...Knowing that I still have some wall space to fill at my apartment, she decided she would pass the chance along to me. She had viewed the pieces already and had called to describe them to me, glossing over a set of chandelier giclees that she described as ugly, going on to a few pieces that didn't really catch her eye, then the pieces that in her estimation were classical and totally appropriate for my apartment. I'm sure she called one of the owners (Molly) a number of times trying to get the names of the ones she thought I would really like so we could look them up online. In the end, both of the pieces she showed me were pretty, but not quite striking enough to coordinate with the stuff I currently have on my walls. In the end, she told me it was my choice since it was going to be my first piece of art with substantial value and her gift to me. When I arrived this evening shortly before my mother, Molly Boone-Jones was there to greet me and had the pieces at hand. Immediately as I walked in, there were two eye-catching pieces....A classic chandelier silhouette, one with a dark camel background and one with a deep red background. She originally intended to show me primarily the pieces my Ma had liked, but I knew from the start I wanted to see all the options in person. Thank goodness for that. They were all absolutely beautiful, but nothing made me smile like the damn chandelier. My Ma thinks it's awful. Because she loves me she gave me a $900 piece of art that she will roll her eyes at every time she comes to my place. Beyond that lovely story, the owner of Seattle Custom Framing (located on 3rd & Battery in Belltown) Molly Boone-Jones and her assistant Larry Aldrich are really nice folks. They have a mind-boggling selection of frames to choose from and offer a number of different services related to framing and presentation needs (I'm not positive that restorations are one of them, but they seem to be good at it if you consider the examples I was shown that they had worked on). They actually do quite a bit of the framing for Roq La Rue and I know how the Yelpers love RLR (and if you don't, you should).... If you're in the market, you should definitely check them out. P.S. Yes i *did* use the word "not."

As I have never framed a painting before, I find myself extremely lucky to have run across 'Seattle Custom Framing' and its uber-friendly Owner Molly. On the phone, she explained to me in lengthy detail about different framing processes. In person, she suggested the best frame based on my personal style and my budget constraints. During the framing process, she received a frame from her supplier which was not the "perfect" color based on my painting and she drove back to exchange it because she knew the painting would look better with the correct color. I looked at Aaron Brothers and a few other big name stores and found the prices to be very slightly cheaper. But the 2 week wait and impersonality of the stores made the decision easy... go to Seattle Custom Framing from here onward. Overall, this was an excellent experience.

I called and spoke with Molly and she assured me that I could certainly bring my frame in to her store.

I called the shop earlier in the day to ask if they would accept a half down payment for the total cost of the frame job because most frame shops will work with you on that and this was the only way I could afford it. The guy I spoke to told me they had stopped doing it due to customers never showing up to pick up their framed items, but could potentially work with me as long as I made the full payment BEFORE picking it up which I was more than happy to do. I showed up in person later with my poster to go over the matting, frame choices etc. and it was a different guy who I didn't speak to over the phone. When I got my quote at the end, I was told they would not accept any down payment and needed the full payment before cutting the frames. While I understand the reason for this and that they want customers to commit to paying them, I wish they had some clarification on their website and/or I didn't get mixed information when I spoke to the man on the phone because I feel like it was a waste of my time to come in and go through choosing the matting/poster frame. Nonetheless the framing jobs are beautiful but not a fan of the mixed customer service I received, would have been happy to give them my business if they offered down payments.

I've had multiple pieces framed by Simply Frames since they moved from 15th to Broadway. I've had a really good experience with Simply Frames & Miner Gallery and look forward to going back…read morefor more custom framing in the future. I received a pair of beautiful oil paintings as a gift from the artist. They arrived rolled up in a tube, and I spent a lot of time shopping around Seattle for a good way to preserve and display them. I checked out 7 shops here in the north/central part of Seattle. None were bad, but this place stood out for a few reasons: 1) SF&MG was more thorough than other places about discussing all of my options in different price ranges, and was patient and honest explaining things I didn't know about custom framing. 2) The frame suggestions were excellent. Peter's sharp eye, and perhaps SF&MG's inventory, produced a design that was unrivaled by any other shops. The scheme he suggested complimented my unusual paintings beautifully, and was impossible to recreate -- much less improve upon -- with other vendors. 3) Most of these places guarantee their prices, but SF&MG underbid their competitors (for standard stuff like getting the canvas onto the stretcher board) without even having to be told what their competitors quoted. 4) I'm really happy with the workmanship. The paintings look great, though of course I can't compare this to the shops I didn't choose... So, I have only one data point but so far so good with Simply Frames & Miner Gallery.
