Fox's is back! We were lucky enough to walk in at the right time and find 3 seats waiting for us at the bar, which was great since we were there for drinks. The music was awesome, a little bit of everything and we sang along to almost all of them. I can't review the food since I didn't eat but my dirty martini was perfect and our bartender was super friendly. I came in with two friends. My friends have been here before. That was at the very beginning before fox's closed. Now they reopened and they changed some stuff on the menu. Apparently, they were well known for their fried shrimp and French fries. My friends did not the see the fried shrimps on the menu. So therefore they ask if is possible they can get the fried shrimps. The waiter went and ask the chef if it was possible. He came back and said yes. So when he asked me what I wanted. I said since the shrimps are popular with these ladies I'll have this too. We ask why the fried shrimps were not in the menu he said that they were not popular back than. I cannot understand why there were not popular. Oh wow those shrimps were delicious. Serve with tartar sauce and ketchup for the fries. The fries were good and crispy. Cool spot in South Miami. This place has been around forever and has only had 3 or 4 owners in the 70 plus years it has been opened and it is a great piece of Miami history. Recently it has had a renaissance of sorts. The service is always friendly and welcoming. The place is dark and a great respite from the very hot and bright Miami sun. The bar, although limited in selections is exactly what you need. Gin or Vodka, they make one of THE BEST Martinis in the city - crisp, cold, but never icy or watered down. They stuff their own olives with blue cheese so, if you want super fresh blue cheese olives with your martini, you have come to the right place. Every time we have visited Fox's we order martinis and the Chef's Thumb Bits. Terrible name but delicious and generous bites of tenderloin on toast with a rich and flavorful onion au jus for dipping. So so good!!!! I think they are discounted during Happy Hour but not sure. Fox's is great for a cocktail or two and if the Thumb Bits are any indication of how tasty the rest of the menu is, this is a cannot miss. Cheers read more

I love Fox's Lounge, from their dim lighting with amazing beats to their friendly staff and delicious food- it truly checks all the boxes for me. Fox's is known to be very dark with dim lights, and honestly even though I wasn't sure if I would like it at first I ended up loving the vibes. The dim lighting paired with great music and really friendly bartenders totally made for a chill and wonderful night. It felt classy, relaxed and light. We enjoyed ourselves, had great conversations, loved the atmosphere and most definitely enjoyed all the food and cocktails. I personally had the churrasco and my boyfriend had the burger, and let me just say they were both phenomenal. I'm excited to go back and try more food. If you do end up going for some drinks, I definitely recommend to also eat. The cocktails themselves were delicious as well! We tried a couple different ones and each one hit the spot. Kudos to the bartender! I would also like to highlight that service was exceptional. Everyone made us feel very welcomed and taken care of. The bartenders were extremely nice, engaged in great conversation with us, and provided us with amazing service. The manager, Alex, even stopped to check on us at some point. I came for a friend's birthday a couple weeks or so ago. The appetizers we had were tasty, my burger was phenomenal, the dessert was great, and I loved the dirty martini. However, note that if the server offers you extras like blue cheese olives, you'll be charged extra. I didn't find out til we got our check, so I felt a little blindsided by that. The check took a bit long to get, so we had to pay more to extend the meter. Besides that, the service was good and the server was extremely polite. I returned to Fox's after many years to check it out for old times sake. It did not feel the same as when I used to eat and drink there in the seventies and eighties since I no longer drink. This is a drinker's place. At 2PM on a Thursday afternoon, it was dark inside. Perfect in that it was just like it used to be. Food was good old American cuisine. They still have the same exact menu; thumb bits, frogs legs, etc. Drinks cost $10 and I think they were good and strong. I noticed that my friend, who had two, reported that he was relaxed and mellow. I recommend Fox's as a Nostalgic reminder of South Miami's past. Everywhere else you will go is new and glitzy. Gave the new version of Fox's a second and third chance. My first experience at the new version was pretty terrible. I swore it off but decided to give it another shot. Went for dinner with a friend on a weekday. I noticed right away that the lights were very dim, so it was "Fox's Dark". The music was mostly 70's and 80's. The juke box can never be brought back but the music made sense this time around. Service was much improved. We had a great time, it isn't the original, but it was close enough. Then I finally convinced my wife to give it a second shot. We went just for drinks last Saturday night. There was a DJ which really wasn't in line with the original Fox's, but the music was amazing, mostly 80's alterative loungy music. We had a few martinis and had a great time. Nobody can replicate what the original was, so we have to say goodbye, but Fox's 2.0 gets 4 stars. Time to make new memories. read more

I loved the original and they did one heck of a job recreating the experience. In a city where everything has to be new and shiny or industrial chic, Fox's 1950's feel is a welcome relief. We chose to make first trip back on a Thursday to take advantage of prime rib night. The prime rib was solid. Fatty, rare with a nicely seasoned outer crust, no need for the horseradish or au jus. Delicious on its own. I'd put the Thumb Bits on a must list, simple, but so satisfying. Small toast with steak and au jus, think mini French dip. The hostess was over the top friendly greeting us like she'd known us for years. All that's missing is the liquor store out back but the window still exist. I'll be back again soon read more

Plus it has some history to it and the decor takes you back, makes it feel like a neighboor bar you see in the movies but in real like... and that's because it is. Love it. The first issue you'll immediately encounter is that there is very little parking. We arrived at about 5:30pm on a Friday and had to park 2 blocks away. The second issue is the service. Our server, Michelle, was not sure if they had a happy hour nor what drinks were on happy hour prices. She did mention she was having a bad day. There were 4 of us and the dishes came out as they were prepared so we all got different things at different times. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was delicious. My hubby and I ordered the fish fry, but with different sides. I got mine but he never got his. At this point (over an hour later) the place was packed and it was hard to find the server. We eventually informed her that he never got his order. The rest of us had already finished our meals. He finally got his but the fish looked more like Dolphin fingers (as opposed to filets) and it was missing the cole slaw. We told her, twice, that he hadn't received his cole slaw and eventually just told her to forget it since he was already done. The fish fry was good, but I ordered extra lemon and that also took several requests and time to receive. We ended with a key lime pie for dessert, very underwhelming, do not recommend. Our friends had the thumbs, shrimp cocktail and French onion soup, all were good. What bothers me is that the server, knowing that she totally messed up my husband's order, never apologized or did anything about it. She should've comped the meal, or at least offered a complimentary dessert, but nothing. We paid over $100 for 2 fish fries (one that was incomplete), a piece of tasteless pie, and a couple of drinks. Not returning again! read more

What a joy that this iconic institution finally reopened a few years ago. The lighting and decor -- a relic pay phone on the wall -- is quite comforting. Fox's is the definition of your neighborhood dive bar. All the stories you hear about 80's Miami comes to life in this place and you feel welcomed in the windowless lounge. We stopped in for drinks and their old fashions were delicious. We had just eaten, but the food being delivered to tables looked appetizing and I will definitely be back to try. read more
