Been a customer since the day they opened. My pet needed them in an emergency. They could have done anything to help find an emergency clinic and did nothing!!! I had to find a clinic to treat my sick pet immediately on my own. NO HELP Thankfully AUSTIN Veterinary Emergency and Specialty was there for my pet. I have been going to Anderson Mill Animal Clinic since I got my dog in 2003. My last visit caused me to get a second opinion from Four Paws at Four Points. As a result I will never go back to Anderson Mill Animal Center. My 14 year old dog had an eye infection. Anderson Mill Animal Clinic wanted to perform tests that would cost $122 not including the $45 exam fee. What really got me suspicious is that they wanted to refer me to an eye specialist. Rather than just give me the name of the specialist the vet insisted on making the appointment for me. She wanted to make sure I "could get in" I decided to get a second opinion from Four Paws and am glad I did. They gave me some cream and pills that solved the issue and the cost not including the $45.50 exam fee was $98.96. I wonder what Anderson Mill Animal Clinic and the eye specialist would have come up with in terms of a treatment plan. In addition I got a prescription for heartworm preventative from Four Paws and was surprised to learn that they did not require a heartworm test to get the prescription. Anderson Mill Animal Clinic said they needed to perform one every year which has cost me hundreds of dollars. Below are line items from the receipts of the two vets. It is hard to believe they both looked at the same dog on the same day. I had a horrible experience with this clinic. My cat was suddenly having severe behavior issues, and they ignored the one symptom I told them about that would have helped. They told me I should kill him, but if I didn't want to do that, I should call a behaviorist. Turned out that was the number for a dog trainer who was out of town. Things got much worse, and they starting giving me xanax for him in very small amounts. It helped a ton, but they treated me like a heroin addict every time I called. Long story short, I found a real cat vet and it turns out he has a back problem and that's why the xanax helped. He's doing great on two meds now. He'd be dead if I'd listened to these people, who made my life hell this past summer. I wrote the owners a letter several weeks ago, detailing my experiences with their total incompetence with cat issues. They've never responded. read more

We have been going to this vet since we moved in december 2011. So far our boxer who is 7 years old had a severe eye problem. When I called on the phone they said to bring him in, so we did, they gave him drops with steroids in them which made his boxer's ulcer worse. We made another appointment for his eye and they switched his medicine and this time told us they don't specialize in eyes and gave us the name of a great eye dr. Of course that was after they took my combined $400 for both visits and meds and did not help my dog at all. Then our dog had a hemotama in his ear, which he has had before. We went in and told the young vet that he has had one before and the last vet drained it and it never came back. She proceeded to tell us that she never drains hematomas because they ALWAYS come back. She gave him a round of prednisone and convinced us this was the best option. Of course it did not work and we had to schedule yet another appointment where this time I demanded she drain the ear, give him antibiotics in case of infection. The moment before she drained my dog's ear I asked her how many of these she had done. Her answer was "none, this is my first". But just two weeks before she told me how draining the ear NEVER works, yet she had never even performed this? Well it did work, 3 weeks later his ear is fine and I am out 250 bucks for both appointments when one would have been sufficient if she had done not only what we asked, but what we told her had worked the 1st time he had had one. I am not going to this vet anymore for two reasons and I would not recommend them ever. The first being that multiple appointment costs multiple dollars. They should have told me over the phone that they do not deal with eyes and sent me immediately to a specialist. The vet should have drained his ear the first time. The second reason, is that I called to let them know how disappointed I was with their service, spoke to the manager and she assured me that the owner would call me. Well it's been a week since that call. So my money is good for them, but my satisfaction with their services seems to be something they don't care for at all. On a side note, I have never been to a vet that uses carpeting. This vet does and let me assure you of the smell. It's just plain gross and not hygenic. read more

I've taken my 2 cats and dogs here since we moved to Austin in 2008. Everyone has always been friendly and caring. I have noticed though, that this place excels in maintenance (shots, blood tests, etc) but can be poor in the diagnosis dept. We had a sick cat that they couldn't figure out what was wrong with. We spent over $1000 in tests and frantic visits before they admitted they weren't specialists and that we should really take the cat into a specialist. We took the cat to the specialist and he needed emergency bladder stone surgery. I also had an experience where I had them check out lumps on my older dog's skin... which I was poo poo'd for. Turns out one of them was malignant cancer and it was a very good thing I insisted on a biopsy. I've stayed with them because their service is good, but you have to be insistent if you know that there is something wrong with your pet.. read more

They love animals here and everyone seems happy to be here. They are great with communication. They are easy to talk to and seem to know their stuff. Also, they love my two sweet cats. How can I not give them five stars? My cats are in good hands here. read more

Friendly staff! Staff loved on my dog and made him feel as calm as you can when you take them to a vet. Waiting area was not as I expected...made out to be like a living room with TV, carpet, couch etc. Closed the door and it was just me and my dog in there while we waited. So he was able to calm down and feel at ease. Exam room was similar. Vet was very nice and informative and competent. I'll definitely continue to take my dog there. read more

Dr. Kleypas has been the vet for one of our dogs for 12 years, and saw our Pomeranian though bladder stone removal and maintenance. Our dog is now almost 17 years old. Dr. Okonsky began seeing our second dog for his end of life care after his cancer diagnosis in February. There are not more competent veterinarians in Austin. Both vets are fully accessible. In the last four months, we've called to talk through issues with our dog, and receive a callback always to talk about concerns. When we had to put our dog down this past week, Dr. Kleypas was incredibly compassionate. She talked us through the entire process, and spent the time with us that we needed. When it comes to quality of care and integrity, Four Paws is amazing. read more

This was without a doubt the best vet experience I have ever had. Our beagle terrier mix had stopped nearly all physical activity without warning, and our thought immediately went to the worst case scenario. Upon calling, we were told to bring her in, not 3-4 days later as I was expecting, but 3 hours from the time of the call. Once we arrived, the staff (every one of them) was AMAZING! We were seen quickly and both the Dr. and the Tech did a great job keeping the dog cool and calm during the exam. Thankfully, it was determined that she just has an inflamed disk in her back that could be treated with simple medication. Best of all, I received an email follow-up 3 days later to check on the progress of the treatment. That in itself is a testament to just how caring the office is. This was our first visit to this office, but it will not be the last. Thank you to the entire staff! read more

The facility and grounds are beautiful, the staff is super friendly and caring, they have a very kid friendly space kid friendly waiting room and free snacks/water/coffee. I've been able to get same day for a sick visit twice now and my dog was only nervous in the beginning. He warmed up to the place after a few minutes and gave love and attention to the tech quickly. I've never seen him get that comfortable at a vet. And the pricing was reasonable, I did call a few places to compare prior to making an appointment as I had an idea of the few charges we'd incur. We're very happy with our decision to choose this vet. read more

I've been looking for a great vet- and I have finally found one. From the moment I checked until I left, my sweet dog was a priority and they genuinely seemed to care. The techs were amazing, and the vet? Phenomenal- she knew her stuff, and really out my concerns at ease with her knowledge and bed side manner. It takes my dog a long time to warm up to people but it only took a matter of minutes for her to love the staff. I can't stand 2 things a about vets: when they take your pet out of the room tom provide treatment and when they overcharge you. Neither of these things happen. I highly recommend Four Paws and I won't go anywhere else. read more

Very poor customer service here. They do not return calls and getting through to talk to your vet is nearly impossible. You will not get called back and when you call to ask about it the front desk personnel will be rude to you. If you see an actual vet at your visit it will be for less than 2 minutes then you will never see/speak with them again. I was told by a receptionist after trying to talk to my vet for a week that "your vet is the owner and is very busy". Needless to say, I will never be back and would not recommend this place to someone I disliked. You would think a vet of all people would understand your pet is like a child to you and silence as a response to a pressing medical question about them is rude/downright negligent. read more

We were about to go out of town for a holiday, and our pet became very sick and our vet was full on a Saturday, so I chose Four Paws because I personally know Dr. Kleypass. It's a hike from our house, but so worth it. Dr. Okonsky and the vet technicians got us in immediately and took care of him with X-rays and lab work. The facility was clean, and staff friendly. Four Paws @ Four Points are a class act. Everyone that we interacted with over the years seems to genuinely like animals, listen, and focus on the best care. Dr. James is amazing. She guided us through the illnesses and the passing of two elderly pets over two years. She encouraged us, in a non-pressuring way, to seek additional testing outside of Four Paws prior to a weekend, which ultimately meant that our poor dog was diagnosed sooner, we were able to provide palliative care sooner, and our son was able to make it home to say goodbye. Even though our dog didn't receive her final care at Four Paws (but at a 24 hour facility), they still made a contribution in her name to the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation. The combination of having many pets over the years, moving many times, and being particular about who my "kids" see, I have tried many, many vets. I choose based on not only the vet but the entire staff. I've had terrifying experiences with other vet staff that filled a near-lethal wrong dose of medication, so the staff is definitely as important as the vets. When you call to ask a question, or want to speak with a vet, Four Paws staff appears to genuinely care. This is not always the case at other vet hospitals. I have been pleased with everyone I've dealt with there. read more

The staff is so very friendly and knowledgeable. They handled our sweet pugs with care. They always emailed or called to follow up with us after visits. After having to put down one of our babies the staff gave us a private room to stay with our pug as long as we wanted, were nurturing and kind to us during the process, and sent us a sympathy card after it was all over. The facility is nice and clean. I have never kenneled here but from what I can tell the dogs are exercised and taken very good care of. Becki, one of the techs is so nice and has even checked on our pug, fed and walked her while we've been out of town. I am sad that I am moving too far away to use them anymore. This place has taken a major turn for the worst. First of all, they charge you for everything. To get my dogs blood drawn, they charge me for a doctors visit even though she was not seen by a doctor and it was not a scheduled visit. Secondly, they didn't even tell me about the charges until after I got there and after they did the blood draw and gave me the balance. This was with my second dog. With my first dog, they didn't detect the cancer until it was so far gone, there was nothing we could do except put him down, and he was only 4 years old. After 4 years of going there, I will never go back again, & I do not recommend going to them. read more

I love this place. Unfortunately both of my moms sweet beautiful dogs are gone. Prior to them passing, she brought them here. The technicians were always so sweet. My mom.and her dogs loved it there and never had issues. Always treated so well. My mom put her dog down there when she was sick and we have never had such a great experience. No words describe how hard this was on my mom. They were so great to her and her dog Marty. They offered comfort and were so respectful of our emotions and Marty's experience. Her passing was very peaceful and all thanks to the staff. We called to let them know we were coming. They had blankets and tissues ready for us. They made Marty comfortable before the procedure and they had us near the door so we could leave without everyone seeing us upset. After the procedure they even sent my mom a foot print of Marty's. It's been very hard for her but this clinic made it easier. Thank you so much for keeping Marty and Trinity healthy while my mom brought them to you and thank you for taking care of her when it was time to say goodbye. We can't thank you enough. read more

The doctors have been very helpful and friendly, and interactions with the office staff have been pleasant. However, trying to get a food or prescription order filled correctly has been troublesome. On three occasions they ordered the wrong size bag of food even though I repeated the size multiple times over the phone to make sure they heard me. Four times they shorted me on the amount of caplets in my dog's prescription. I find this repeated carelessness alarming since it pertains to medication. I reported it to the office staff each time, but evidently no one followed up to prevent it from happening again. read more

NOT IMPRESSED! I took my dog in for an overall opinion of her well being. The Vet I saw was okay, but not very knowledgeable. She wanted to prescribe pain killers that may effect the kidneys, even after mentioning that my dog may be experiencing kidney failure. I asked if she felt like we should do a blood test to check how her kidney's were doing before giving her something that could cause greater problems and she agreed that was a good idea. She did want to test her urine as well, but the tech was not able to get a urine sample. So, they asked for me to collect the urine myself and bring it back. When I brought back the urine sample they tried to charge me ANOTHER $22 office visit charge. I asked why they were charging an office visit since I did not see anyone and they said it was for the tech's time- even though the urine sample was being sent off to be tested. The receptionist knew I was not happy and offered to get the tech. After she checked with the Vet she actually argued with me in the lobby stating that I needed to pay for the time they were spending on this..remember I collected the urine and brought it in after spending $200 on our first visit and at least 2 hours of being shuffled from room to room while they saw other patients. They were willing to lose a customer over $22. A charge that was not earned (or needed for their business). I feel this practice cares more about money than the care of animals. Hopefully you will think about this before taking your loved ones there. read more

The staff at Four Paws has been very kind, helpful and professional. The vets take time and are caring with pets. My dog is dying and they have been very compassionate. Even though we haven't been able to find a cure for my dogs disease, I feel that Four Paws has been very helpful in testing him and treating him without charging me a fortune on every test imaginable. read more

Dr. Lisa is just so caring. She also responds to every email very promptly, even on weekends. Four Paws charged me only $40 when it came time to say goodbye to our Wheaton terrier. Several other places had quoted charges many times that amount. I just am 100% convinced this vet service is the BEST in Austin...period! read more

The absolute best vet I've ever used. I just adore Four Paws at Four Points, from the office staff to the medical staff and the vet himself. Dr. Bello is absolutely fantastic. I have two breeds that are more complicated and require a lot of extra care aka... extra cost and attention. They accommodate my hectic schedule, are so kind and personal from the time I call and their follow up, and the time we are in the room reviewing my furry little guys. Dr. Bello is so thorough, patient, focused and really gives you his full attention. You don't feel like you are pressured to get extra tests, food, supplements or anything. You are informed, Dr. Bello took his time with the tech going over all of my concerns and really helping me be a better dog owner, and provided me with detailed hand outs and hand written notes to take care of my pets. I was really impressed, and thankful to find such a wonderful vet. Four paws is awesome every time I board with them and the care I received today just added to the wonderful experience. Thank you everyone at Four Paws!!! PS- If you have wrinkly breeds such as French Bulldogs, Bostons, Bullys or Boxers he is a life saver! read more

We love this vet. We've been taking our two dogs since 2007 and they always know us and our dogs always feel right at home (and one is rather aggressive with strangers.) We'd gotten a new dog (a stray) and vets had said she might have a uterine infection, so when she acted ill, I took her in (unscheduled). Turns out it was labor and she was having the pups right then and there! They moved around schedules and delivered all the pups. This was mere hours after I'd brought in my other dog who we found out needed emergency surgery and they'd moved schedules around for him as well. When we'd bring in the 6 pups, they would only charge us for 1, even though we had to schedule two visits of 3 puppies each as they got harder to manage. For a time we were down on this vet as one of the dogs had bad allergies with skin manifestations. We'd take him in, get medicine to clear up the skin issue, and a week after it healed, go right back for more. So he was in pretty much every month and constantly on medication. So we took him to Lakeline for a second opinion who told us to see a doggie dermatologist. Two years of allergy shots later and his skin issues are still the same and the specialist has no answers. I can't fault Four Paws for that! It's likely to be food allergies but he is on a special bladder stone diet, so we're stuck. The few times we end up in the waiting room, we look at the photo album of their patients and find our pets. :) They run regular specials, so when we need things like dental cleanings, we just schedule at those times. They always follow up after each visit, even if nothing was wrong. This place feels like family. read more
