With the adoption of a new kitty with special health concerns I know that I need veterinarians with the skills and training to support her health needs, and this is the office for that. My Tabitha is feline leukemia positive, so the support of Dr. Carter and Dr. Weirauch is so appreciated and necessary. It's also wonderful that they show affection to my fur baby when we are there. I can tell that this veterinary clinic not only does their job well, but has compassionate and kind staff. I gave them a call regarding questions I had about a kitten that I rescued, which is where the person on the phone with me, Gunnar, was able to briefly help me, but said that he would need to speak with the doctor and would give me a call back. While I did not receive a call back, I did receive a very detailed text message by Gunnar. Firstly apologizing for not giving me a call back and secondly going into detail of what my options were with caring for the kitten. He gave me advice without making me feel obligated to go with them to have the kitten seen. This type of kindness will always incline me to leave a review to show appreciation to those who are just simply caring without expecting anything in return. I'm grateful I didn't have to come for anything serious, but if anything were to happen I would happily come back because they took great care of my baby. I booked a last minute appointment because my pup has pretty bad seasonal allergies and her normal place wouldn't have been able to take her for a while and Manor Vet was able to squeeze me within the day! I cannot say enough good things about this place. Every person I've interacted with, the doctors, the assistants, the front desk people, anyone who's ever answered the phone, all of them are just so so kind. My dog gets extremely stressed at the vet, but everyone at MVH is so gentle with him. They allow you in the room now but before that, I could hear them from the lobby telling him he's a good boy, that he's okay, and just being so sweet to him to make him feel comfortable. We have been 3 times now and every single time is the same. I just had a phone interaction with an employee who again, was so sweet. I just had to come write a review. Bonnie has taken care of all our animals from the puppy/kitty stage all the way through their lives. She is very compassionate, caring, and has the best bedside manner. Dr. Carter (Doc Bonnie to my dogs) has been taking care of my pets for over 20 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else (at their insistence). The first dog I brought to her in July 2000 had been a stray for over 18 months, and was heart worm positive and pregnant to boot. Manor Vet took great care of Soji, then and over the next twelve years. My other dogs have gotten equally good care, and the staff is excellent too. read more

Don't count on Manor Veterinary Hospital if you are in dire need. After today, I will no longer use their services or recommend anyone else to them either. My dog needed stitches today after a minor accident and I brought her in 40 minutes before closing time. They refused to help me at all because it might make them stay late. EXTREMELY impressed! Dr. Bonnie Carter came recommended to our family all the way from a client in Missouri. The service from the moment I and my babies walked in the door until the time we left was two thumbs up, a 5 star rating and a 10/10! Within seconds of being there I felt like I had been going there for YEARS! My wait to get into the exam room was short but Dr. Carter and her Tech took their time with both of my babies and were so so very sweet and gentle. Called late Thursday afternoon about my cat, was concerned it was a respiratory infection. Just allergies. But I was impressed they were able to squeeze us in on a Friday afternoon. Dr. Bonnie Carter was so gentle and nice, she clearly loves animals-especially kitties. The vet tech ladies were also nice and gentle. I didn't feel they rushed his visit at all. I asked for a nail trim, they did a great job with that. And afterwards, he got treats. This place is great, I recommend them. read more

My first experience here was not a good one, but it had nothing to do with the vet. I had a very sick dog that ultimately had to be put down. Dr. Cole Carter and his staff were compassionate and understanding. I felt that he did a great job exploring all of the options for treatment with me. Not once did I not understand what was going on. New to Manor, we were nervous about finding a new vet for our two Basset Hounds, Johnny & June. Our first visit was for annual exams and vaccinations. We walked away feeling good about our experience and didn't feel like we were "nickel and dimed" to death. Sadly we have had a quite a few visits in the last month, including a surgery. Even after being poked and stitched up, my dogs are still happy to see the building and the staff. The staff made many calls just to check on us and make us feel like family. Was given a quote with a $1300 range (strange, right?) and was charged $200 more than the max bid. Shady dealings in my book. Would advise going anywhere else :)! read more

First time visit with my cat for her rabies vaccine and wellness check-up. All appropriate precautions taken due to COVID: intake, update, and billing conversations were held by phone, and I was instructed to wear a mask when the vet tech (also masked) came out to my car to pick her up and bring her back after her appointment. I am so happy to have found my new vet! I have a cat that started having litter box aversion and it was obvious he was in pain so I called Manor Vet. Susan, the woman who answered the phone, said they didn't have any appointments until Friday. When I explained the situation and the problems I had with my previous vet, she made sure she was able to fit me in the same day. The place is small but clean and well maintained. The staff are all super friendly and very helpful. Fisher is normally the sweetest cat ever, but he is afraid of everything and in a panic he can scratch the shit out of you. The tech was able to get him out of his carrier and handle him perfectly. No trauma to him or her. When Dr. Cole Carter came in he listened to all we said, asked a ton of questions, did a very thorough exam, and came up with a diagnosis of a back strain. He said they could do x-rays but didn't really feel it was necessary. I really appreciated him not trying to just do lots of things to charge me for. He then made a few suggestions for Fisher's treatment. I could give him steroids or we could do laser treatments. It seems laser are the latest and greatest in cat pain treatment. We decided on that one. It was quick and painless for him. They also did some blood work to make sure there were not any underlying conditions, Nothing extravagant, just a blood and urine analysis. I'm not sure yet how the laser is working. He goes back Wednesday for round 2. I will update in a few days about the laser. It's important to be able to talk to your vet without being condescended to, and to trust your vet. I have found both of those things with Manor Vet Hospital. read more

We will never take our dog there again. We left her there for 2 nights and asked that they trim her toe nails. We picked her up and after getting her home realized that several of her nails had been cut so short they bled. She also had what I would describe as a rug burn on her belly like a harness had been pulled way too tight. we were already worried because the kennels were not cooled and the place didn't seem well taken care of, but now we know better. My husband and I have been taking our pets to Dr. Bonnie Carter at the Manor Veterinary Hospital since 2002. She has always taken excellent care of our cats and dogs. (We've had six pets, and she has cared for all of them.) We have an elderly cat with a number of health problems who very well might have died by now under a less competent vet's care, but is still thriving to this day thanks to Dr. Bonnie Carter and her associate, Dr. Cole Carter. When our cat, Snickers, developed liver cancer and her time came, Dr. Bonnie came to our house so that Snickers' last moments could be spent at home. She did the same when our dog, Speck, developed an immune disorder and all treatment options had been exhausted. She has also made house calls to see our elderly cat, Maggie. I trust Dr. Bonnie Carter to give my pets the best possible care. When our pets have needed specialty care, she has referred us to excellent specialists. The staff at the the Manor Veterinary Clinic are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and their love of pets is evident in all they do. They always call the next day after an appointment to make sure the pet is doing well, and they always ask how my pets are doing when I drop in to pick up medications or food. They make sure we understand all the instructions on medications, and help explain diagnoses when needed. Here's how much I value the Manor Veterinary Clinic: When we first started going there, we lived in Elgin and the clinic was somewhat local. We moved into central Austin in 2009 and even though there are a plethora of veterinary clinics closer to our home, we still prefer to take our pets all the way out to Manor when they need care. It is absolutely worth the drive, even in heavy traffic, to know that my pets have the best care there is. read more

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Bonnie for almost 10 years. The staff is always great and Dr. Bonnie is fabulous. We've had pets in at times when there has been a prn vet and no problems there either. I highly recommend this veterinarian. Dr. Bonnie spends a ton of time with each pet which may explain the long wait and the possibly higher prices. But I can't imagine taking my pets anyplace else. read more

Dr. Carter is excellent! I have been going to her for years! I trust her and I feel her treatments and judgement for my pets have been accurate. The absolute worst. I brought my dog in to see why she was lame on one leg. I was asked if I wanted vaccines (she had hers at this facility last year and wasn't due for another 4 months), blood work, heartworm check, etc, etc, etc. I just wanted to find out what was wrong with the leg. Dr, Griepp took x-rays and sent them to a radiologist. Dr. Griepp called to inform me that she thought it was bone cancer. Since I had asked for copies of the x-rays, I asked if we could go over them while we were on the phone. Dr. Griepp told me to just look at the x-rays - it was obvious. She then abruptly said she was busy and would call back later - we never got to discussing the radiologist's report. I called back at the end of the day but was told she was too busy to come to the phone. No further contact from Dr Griepp. When I called the next day I was told Dr. Griepp was off for two days. I asked to have Dr Cater (owner) return my call to discuss the radiologist's report. Called 5 times that day - she would never come to the phone. Finally, the office manager, Sharon came to the phone when I called in again - she informed me we had been referred to an oncologist; had I not been persistent, I never would have known. My dad was a vet and I worked for him for many years - I know this is not the way to treat clients. read more

We just moved to Manor not too long ago and normally take our dogs to NE Austin. We needed to take our puppy somewhere because her stomach had been really upset. They squeezed her in and even when I called because I was going to be late they made it work. We are now going to take our other dog here as well. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the docs know what they are doing and make you feel comfortable. If I could give this place 10 stars I totally would. Having just moved to the area I looked for the nearest vet in Manor. I was so lucky to have found this office. The doctor,I forget her name, she was blonde.She was sweet and non judgmental and really seemed to care. I know that she wasn't the doc on the website.. but an awesome one either way. Also, they called the vet tech Derrick the "dog whisperer". This could not have been more true. He was gentle and such a sweet heart. My only complaint would be is that it's a little pricey. But, I can't really knock them for that because they use the latest technology and are very caring. Highly recommended! read more

Beware when dropping your pet off. I was informed that if you sign or initial the paper they want everyone to sign when dropping off they can do what they want and charge you for it with out talking to you at all. My cat had $400 worth or xrays and blood work done 5 days before I dropped him off for an enema & fluids. I came back to a $750 bill. The same blood work and xrays had been redone, without asking. When I asked how was it morally or ethically acceptable to do hundreds of dollars of work without giving any estimate or heads up I really couldn't get a clear answer. The only response I got was my invoice would be in the mail! I have never had a vet do this and even this one on the last visits gave an estimate before proceeding. Apparently there are different rules & procedures every day. This is by far the most ridicules and shady experience I have a with a vet. read more

This veterinary hospital is wonderful! I highly recommend. It's very clean and the waiting/reception area is large, clean and comfortable. I took our 15 year old cat, Mittens, for a check up. They took such great care of her and were very thorough. They even called our previous veterinary hospital to obtain Mitten's medical records before we arrived and did a quick call during the appointment to confirm something. Now I go by every couple of months to buy prescription cat food and every time I go in, I'm greeted cheerfully and given immediate attention. They really make you feel at home. Last month I disagreed with the treatment of my aging 14 year old dog. When I called back a month later I was told I was no longer a client & needed to find a new vet. INCREDIBLE!!! This hospital is the best pet hospital I've ever been to... I've been using them for 10 yrs+. I live in Kyle now and I still use them because of their compassion towards animals. Their staff is wonderful, always professional and caring. I've used other vets and if you don't have the $ they typically don't care about you or your pets(hairy kids) which causes responsible pet owners to make horrible decisions for their pet.
