I have really enjoyed coming to the Sunbury Clinic. Since our move to Texas, we've been developing a relationship with this clinic because of our passion for Bulldogs and Frenchies. Ever since we heard about the director here owning a few Frenchies we needed someone who had expertise with this particular dog. They come with a lot of problems and this is the reason for us coming here so that they understand what we are dealing with. My wife and I are fostering a bulldog that has a lot of problems. Sunbury was able to chase each problem one after the other. They are fantastic! Their reception always has a great attitude with us and others as they come through the door. I've been going to Sunbury for 8 years now. I live in Kyle now and still make the drive most of the time for my frenchie to go here still. The front desk staff is the nicest group and most of the techs are wonderful. I will say that I had one single experience with a tech I did not care for but never saw her again. When I told her my cat passed she instantly went off about her sister's cat for like 5 minutes, it was not the time. Dr Taylor is a wonderful vet and nice lady. While our cats very likely disagree, and know where I sleep (find me a cat that likes vet offices, go ahead, I'll wait), I was very happy with my first visit. My SO has been using them for over a decade and speaks highly, so when our cats were due for shots again, I went to where my SO has always gone. Fantastic staff all the way around. In and out pretty quickly, considering I brought two cats that needed exams and shots. Just, uh, don't ask Toby or Sophie if they want their temperature taken again anytime soon. They seem like nice folks, but I have a monster of a cat who, even while doped up for appointments, hisses and spits and tries to scratch the eyeballs out of anyone who touches him at a vet's office. I initially switched to Sunbury because my old vet was 10 miles down Mopac and my favorite doctor there left. But when I went to Sunbury, they were unable to control my 12-year-old monster-cat, and decided not to do bloodwork on him because it would be too difficult. That compromises his care, especially in his senior age. Also, my old vet continued to send reminders about what was required for my three pets, while Sunbury never sent me anything, even though I'd made it clear I switched vets for them. I went back to my old vet, who has a seasoned vet tech who can handle my evil-incarnate cat, and get bloodwork and urinalysis from him without too much issue. read more

I have brought my dog to Sunbury Clinic for about 4 years before I moved out of Austin. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and caring. They are very thorough with information and has always answered all of my questions. My dog had a very rare case with an auto-immune nail disease back in 2022. When I brought my dog for initial diagnosis, the vets seemed stumped as they have never heard of the symptoms before. They did some outside research and eventually landed at a potential diagnosis and shared all research papers around the disease. They prescribed some early treatment while we waited for our dermatologist appointment. The dermatologist came back with the same diagnosis. The staff has really gone above & beyond to care for my dog. I really appreciate the efforts and care of the staff at this clinic. I highly recommend this vet clinic. read more

I received an email with a 4-hour time window for the day in question, with a message saying the office would follow up to confirm the actual time. No confirmation ever came. So I called intending to see where the issue was and re-schedule the appointment. While I was talking with the receptionist, she cut me off by asking, 'Did you need to schedule something or not?'. I started to respond, when she said, 'Okay, whatever...' and then proceeded to hang the phone up on me in the middle of my sentence. First place we picked for our cats and after their first visits, they have their vets! Definitely recommend (at least for cats, but I do know they care for other animals too!) Moved here and needed a vet for our cats. This place is close, convenient, while the staff and front desk are excellent especially when it comes to caring for our pets and the knowledge they have. Had a few questions and concerns regarding our cats that were answered during the visit. Had initial check ups, vaccinations, bloodwork, and dental surgery done here and all went well! The vets are amazing, thorough and fantastic BUT it's literally impossible to get an appointment here now. I've been taking my dogs here for years and every single time I call I'm told they're booked for the month. They supposedly offer same day emergency spots however, the last 7 times I've tried that THE SECOND THEY OPEN, they somehow are full? It pains me to transfer because I do think the vets are some id of the best but it also shouldn't take months to be able to see a doctor, especially if your animal is in pain. read more

Doctor Sunbury is an amazing, loving & kind person! I was referred to him by a client of mine who also has a Frenchie. I specifically wanted to find a vet who specializes in bulldogs as they have distinct issues that command more attention. Upon our first visit I was as smitten by Doctor Sunbury as he was with my puppy =) We've come back 3x since our first visit and each time has been great. Not entirely sure how the Texas Veterinary board hasn't put them out of business. Parents' cat has had an injury to the abdomen since July (it is December). It's a deep puncture wound. Obtained records (which are a mess), but it looks like cat has been in to visit at least four times with very little improvement. One incident where they cleaned it out had him lethargic for days. Not sure what the vet techs did to him but I have personally witnessed them being rough with other animals in front of me. Have never liked the feel of the place and finally got parents to take him to a different vet. Cat was going to run out of medication before new vet could see him. On call vets refused to refill because they hadn't personally seen the cat. I went in and asked for medication. Cat is on a wash and an ointment. They gave me the wash (see attached). I'm no medical professional but that doesn't seem packaged like something you would want in a deep wound. read more

I've been using Sunbury Vet clinic for 5 years and I absolutely love them. They try super hard to keep their prices reasonable and transparent, and they really care about their fur clients. The front desk staff are always working hard and busy, but eager to help! I have an older dog who often has to go in at a moments notice and they will do their best to get me in. All of the doctors have been very knowledgeable and willing to spend as much time with me as needed to answer questions. That goes a long way to help decrease my anxiety with an older dog. Now we're getting a new puppy and I am super excited to have her join the Sunbury family. With COVID thing are harder all around but this vet worked hard to keep open. Now we drive up to the back and the staff will come out to get your fur baby and take notes. Then the Dr will call when they are examining them. It works pretty well and I feel very safe. Our precious 2-year old Frenchie, Winnie had a severe allergic reaction to something and was in distress and unresponsive. My husband frantically called Sam at Sunbury because they were minutes away. They said "We can't see her without an appt". My husband asked, can you walk me through triage, CPR or help until we can get to an emergency clinic. They offered nothing and then told my panicked husband "have a nice day". Our beloved Winnie passed away on the way to the emergency clinic 25 min away. They are morally bankrupt and should not be in business to help animals. I switched to Sunbury in Jan 2018 when my cat was 15.5 years old with an existing diagnosis of chronic renal failure (diagnosed in 2015.) Dr. Campbell was very knowledgeable, and approachable. She always took time to answer any questions and explain his treatment options and/or lab results to me. I will always be thankful for Dr. Campbell's kindness and bedside manner with my cat. The staff at the front desk were also very polite and helpful. The clinic staff that helped in the consultations were also very personable and gentle with my cat. When my cat passed away in March 2020, the entire clinic sent me a condolence card. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in North Austin. I'm so grateful for the awesome yelp reviews that lead us to give Sunbury a try! We left behind our favorite vet in Minneapolis when we moved here last year and Sunbury was our first try with a new clinic. We could not be more pleased! The moment we walked in to the office the receptionists greeted us warmly and promptly lead us to an exam room. There was no typical sitting in a smelly waiting room as your pet's stress levels rise by the minute (I think we had good timing as it was towards the end of the day). The waiting room was cute and clean so sitting there for a bit wouldn't have been bad :) Everyone was so friendly and seemed to genuinely appreciate that we chose to bring our business there. Our tech, Persia, was sweet as all get out and Dr. Campbell was equally amazing! Our cat, Gypsy, seemed very comforted by Persia's gentle pets as Dr. Campbell listened to her breathing and gave her a shot. The whole experience left us feeling very confident that our cat's wellness was top priority. All of our options were clearly explained and Dr. Campbell was very thorough, skilled and knowledgeable. Everyone is wonderful here. I used to bring my EB Divot here back in 2004, then I've had 2 rescue Boston Terriers I've taken both here. If you have a brachycephalic breed type pet, you really need a vet that know what they are doing. Dr Scott Sunbury and his staff have I'd say 70 yrs of experience combined or more so if you're in doubt do your research. This is hands down the best place to bring your flat face/nose breeds! My parents have been bringing their animals here long before I was ever born (I'm 26) and I have been bringing my pets here since I got them. With the exception of this past year. We moved and were trying a new vet clinic closer to home but after a few visits we just weren't impressed and came back to Sunburys. As always, the staff, the cleanliness, the overall environment is just so nice!! My kitten would cry, hiss, growl, etc. at the other vet clinic. I'm not just saying this either, but she purred almost the WHOLE time we were at Sunburys. He even had to have his technician keep her from purring so he could listen to her heart hahaha! We have taken 3 of our animals in now and have had very good experiences with them so far, and there is a pet store next door. Good diagnosis, both clinically and behaviorally, doctors did not treat us like we could not understand them. We recently decided to change vets because of the upselling that occurs at other vets while we are emotionally compromised when our beloved animals reach the end of there time with us. I think it is a good practice to choose a clinic that is owned by one or more of the practicing Veterinarians rather than one owned by a business person that is off site. Vet/clinic owners are more inclined to be invested in doing the best they can for their clients. read more

I have a couple of dobermans. Trying to get ears cropped in Austin is not a easy task. There are so many vets that no longer perform ear crops because of it being purely cosmetic. In my search, Sunbury was listed as one of the few vets in Austin that performed the surgery. I brought my puppy to Sunbury. I never actually even got to meet the vet. The girls that took vitals were very eager to discourage me from the surgery. I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I had already considered both sides and wanted to have it done. I did NOT need the assistants to treat me like shit and make me feel like a bad guy! Although the assitants seemed to have the puppies best interest at heart, they lost me as a customer. If they don't respect me as a client, then do they really respect what I think and want done? I ended up going to San Marcos to Williams Vet. read more

This is where I take my dogs, ever since I lived across the street. Now that it's a long drive away, I still bring them here. The vets(Dr Taylor and Dr Sunbury) are both wonderful with animals and always have good advice. More importantly, they have that quality that soothes nervous dogs. Mine will gladly be poked and prodded under their care-I can scarcely get them to sit still without a bacon bribe in hand. It's a bit pricey, but to me the care is worth it. One day last summer, some heartless bastard left an adorable white puppy in the parking lot in a closed cardboard box. (Karma will get you. You know who you are.) It was 102 degrees out. A nice person brought it into the nearby store to help it. The pup was too hot and distressed to even take a drink of water. We took it next door to Sunbury Clinic. They treated her for hyperthermia, giving her IV fluids and cooling her down. Then she was adopted immediately by a friend of theirs. I am grateful that they stepped up and made a horrible situation have a happy ending. It was not really their responsibility but they proved how devoted to animal welfare they are. Kudos. read more

Since I rescue cats frequently from shelters and stray/feral situations, I had been vet hopping for moooonths, trying to find a good one that's reasonably priced. A few months ago I had a very ill cat on my hands. Pumba, a feral I had recently brought inside, starting puking blood in the middle of the night and barely able to move. I wasn't about to take him to any of the horrible past vets I'd experienced, so I called Sunbury's office in desperation. They were booked that day, but after fully explaining what was happening they told me to come ASAP. It was a long day. We were there about 3-4hrs waiting for test results and answers. Long story short, Dr. Sunbury saved Pumba. As sick as the cat had become, I absolutely was not expecting to go home with him. Today Pumba is still indoors only and a very happy/healthy cat! I've since used Sunbury for blood work on my dog and rescued cats. Just this week I took a feral, Tommy, to him for tests and a check-up. Tommy is deaf, partially blind, has broken teeth, covered in scabs from being picked on (he's the smallest feral cat I've ever seen. I thought he was about a year old, but he's 5!) and can't hold one of his eyes open. Again, Sunbury did a wonderful job with Tommy and now he's in a forever home enjoying a roof over his head, the AC, canned food, treats and tons of love & attention! I would recommend Dr. Sunbury to anyone for absolutely any reason! ** I am editing this review 8 days after posting, as I forgot to mention some key reasons I would strongly recommend this place. My dog needed an individual vaccination (Lepto) and they offer it, but in a combo vac. They went out of their way to order it elsewhere & called me when it arrived. Pumba and Tommy were examined in different months for different reasons and I received a "follow-up" call each time within a couple days of the visit. Anytime I have had questions/concerns on any of my animals, I either call and/or leave a message, email or ask to have a question delivered to the Dr. with a response via phone. Dr. Subury is GREAT about responding in a timely fashion, be it phone or email. I really appreciate this. I also very much appreciate having answers to my questions explained thoroughly until I understand fully whatever I need to know. Again, he is very good at this as well as patient. read more

I think Dr. Sunbury is the stuff! Dr. Taylor is ok. She is good with the animals, however, I just feel she is not as knowledgable as Dr. Sunbury. Their staff is always professional and friendly. They were always good with my pets. Great location. Only one complaint- they are really pricey. That's the main reason I chose to change vets. For the same care I pay 1/2 the price at my new vet. Still using Sunbury for both Punk and Titan, and it's just amazing how comfortable they are here. Both have now had major procedures here with no ill effects, and they always call you to see how your pet is doing the next day, or a few days after the procedure. My posse of 3 cats made the move to Texas from California with minimum discomfort or drama. My sister recommended Dr. Sunbury (lovingly called Doctor Scott); all of her furry family members have always been treated with compassion, dignity and love. So of course with that kind of recommendation why would I go anywhere else? I noticed shortly after moving here that my oldest cat (18 years) had a lump in her abdomen. Doctor Scott was readily accepted by my skeptical tortiseshell -- Sassie. It was recommended Sassie have surgery to remove the lump. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful making the arrangements, both physical and financial. The surgery went very well; Dr. Scott actually found another lump. Of course extensive blood work was done, and the lumps were sent to pathology. Sadly, it was determined that Sassie had a very aggressive form of cancer. But they weren't sure how far it had spread. The one thing I remember most of all, though, is that Doctor Scott had Sassie cuddled in his arms when I went to pick her up. We had a number of months where Sassie was lump-free; she was eating and drinking and playing like a kitten. Unfortunately more lumps appeared, but I didn't discover them until it was pretty much too far gone. I really didn't want to put her through another surgery. I had to make the decision to let her continue living her life, and when her quality of life was no longer good I'd make the decision to relieve her suffering. Doctor Scott, Rene, Ashley, Jaime and everyone else at the clinic truly love all the animals they have the absolute pleasure and priviledge of getting to know, treating, etc. Once I made the decision, Ashley was so comforting and compassionate while we were on the phone making the appointment. I could barely talk but it didn't matter to Ashley. I called back to make sure all the financial arrangements were taken care of before the appointment, and Rene was just as wonderful as Jaime had been. On the way to the office, Miss Sassie knew it was OK for her to go, and she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge while I was holding her in my arms. I was beyond emotional when we got to the clinic, and I could see the pain in their eyes when I told them "She's gone". Dr. Scott was kind, compassionate and treated Sassie with the same dignity as he had when they first met. My other 2 cats ... Spydee and Katie ... will, hopefully, have a long and wonderful relationship with Dr. Scott and everyone at the clinic.
