Cats
Sean D.

While our cats very likely disagree, and know where I sleep (find me a cat that likes vet offices, go ahead, I'll wait), I was very happy with my first visit. My SO has been using them for over a decade and speaks highly, so when our cats were due for shots again, I went to where my SO has always gone. Fantastic staff all the way around. In and out pretty quickly, considering I brought two cats that needed exams and shots. Just, uh, don't ask Toby or Sophie if they want their temperature taken again anytime soon. I don't think they enjoyed that part.

I have brought my dog to Sunbury Clinic for about 4 years before I moved out of Austin. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and caring. They are very thorough with information and has always answered all of my questions. My dog had a very rare case with an auto-immune nail disease back in 2022. When I brought my dog for initial diagnosis, the vets seemed stumped as they have never heard of the symptoms before. They did some outside research and eventually landed at a potential diagnosis and shared all research papers around the disease. They prescribed some early treatment while we waited for our dermatologist appointment. The dermatologist came back with the same diagnosis. The staff has really gone above & beyond to care for my dog. I really appreciate the efforts and care of the staff at this clinic. I highly recommend this vet clinic.

This vet clinic came highly recommended in our area and I understand why! We first took our dog here during covid, so we couldnt go inside, but the technicians were so sweet. The vet called to talk to me about our dog and was very informative and sweet. The tech even brought our dog back early because our sweet pup had separation anxiety and was getting too nervous. Definitely our permanent vet.

Doctor Sunbury is an amazing, loving & kind person! I was referred to him by a client of mine who also has a Frenchie. I specifically wanted to find a vet who specializes in bulldogs as they have distinct issues that command more attention. Upon our first visit I was as smitten by Doctor Sunbury as he was with my puppy =) We've come back 3x since our first visit and each time has been great. Doctor Sunbury always calls and checks up on Oliver after every visit. Oliver was neutered last week and as nervous as I was, everything turned out well and he's recovery quickly. Everyone at this office is very attention and really care about their job and the animals. My pup Oliver is always showered with love and attention here. I highly recommend anyone with a Frenchie or English to see Doctor Sunbury

Layla has had the best veterinary care ever at this clinic. Everyone is so attentive and caring. This was especially hard because of the Covid situation. She had to be dropped off and picked up at the back door. I was very nervous since this was her first surgery but the technicians made it so easy and comfortable. There was constant communication during and after her procedure. I highly recommend Sunbury clinic, especially the doctors. Sheila

Medication meant to go in a deep wound to a cat's abdomen.

Not entirely sure how the Texas Veterinary board hasn't put them out of business. Parents' cat has had an injury to the abdomen since July (it is December). It's a deep puncture wound. Obtained records (which are a mess), but it looks like cat has been in to visit at least four times with very little improvement. One incident where they cleaned it out had him lethargic for days. Not sure what the vet techs did to him but I have personally witnessed them being rough with other animals in front of me. Have never liked the feel of the place and finally got parents to take him to a different vet. Cat was going to run out of medication before new vet could see him. On call vets refused to refill because they hadn't personally seen the cat. I went in and asked for medication. Cat is on a wash and an ointment. They gave me the wash (see attached). I'm no medical professional but that doesn't seem packaged like something you would want in a deep wound.

This place is AMAZING! My sweet fur baby was having some skin allergies and Dr Campbell explained everything from start to finish and explained to us this whole process we have to overcome, she was so supportive and the staff is always the sweetest and always is eager to engage in small talk and always explains to me what is what if I have any questions. Booking is super easy and I just can't think this team enough. We love you Sunbury!!!! Charlene will be seeing you soon!

If I could give 0 starts or negative, I would. PLEASE, if you love your pet like most pet owners do, do NOT take your animal to Sunbury Veterinary Clinic on Parmer. Our precious 2-year old Frenchie, Winnie had a severe allergic reaction to something and was in distress and unresponsive. My husband frantically called Sam at Sunbury because they were minutes away. They said "We can't see her without an appt". My husband asked, can you walk me through triage, CPR or help until we can get to an emergency clinic. They offered nothing and then told my panicked husband "have a nice day". Our beloved Winnie passed away on the way to the emergency clinic 25 min away. They are morally bankrupt and should not be in business to help animals. I will spend the rest of my days making sure every pet owner in Central Texas knows to NEVER take your pets to this clinic.

I switched to Sunbury in Jan 2018 when my cat was 15.5 years old with an existing diagnosis of chronic renal failure (diagnosed in 2015.) Dr. Campbell was very knowledgeable, and approachable. She always took time to answer any questions and explain his treatment options and/or lab results to me. I will always be thankful for Dr. Campbell's kindness and bedside manner with my cat. The staff at the front desk were also very polite and helpful. The clinic staff that helped in the consultations were also very personable and gentle with my cat. When my cat passed away in March 2020, the entire clinic sent me a condolence card. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in North Austin. Their service is great, the vet staff is trustworthy, and the prices are reasonable.

Gypsy didn't even mind going to the vet

Unlike some of our experiences with other veterinarians in Austin, we never feel rushed. We truly appreciate the care and attention he gives to both us and our cat Reishi. Dr. Rob performed oral surgery to remove several of Reishi's teeth. It was the first major surgery we had experienced with her. He was extremely patient with our questions, took wonderful care of her, and guided us through the entire process. Reishi healed very quickly and had no postoperative complications, which we were especially grateful for after hearing about friends whose pets experienced infections and other issues following similar procedures elsewhere. Recently, Reishi had a cancer scare after an alarming initial assessment at an emergency vet. We were quite stressed. When we brought her to see Dr. Rob, he first acknowledged what we had been through and made us feel heard and cared for before discussing the next steps. He even emailed us with test results and next steps while he was on a family vacation, which showed us how deeply he cares about his patients. Fortunately, further testing showed that Reishi did not have cancer. Going through such a stressful experience felt much more manageable knowing that Reishi was under Dr. Rob's care. He is compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in both his patients and their families. Unfortunately, we are moving out of state and will have to find a new veterinarian. We truly hope we can find a clinic as wonderful as ATX Animal Clinic. It is the best veterinary clinic we have ever had, and we are incredibly grateful to Dr. Rob and the entire team.

We recommended everyone to this clinic and my mom takes her dogs here as well. My only complaint would be the new front desk person I think her name is Kayla. It has been an awful experience trying to schedule anything with her. She has told me wrong information multiple times in regard to schedule appointments even when I asked her if she was sure cuz the info didn't sound right. It has been incredibly frustrating working with her. I wouldn't trust information coming from her and will be asking to speak to someone besides her from now on. Otherwise a wonderful clinic and have loved all the staff besides her. Highly recommends this vet clinic.

My cat was recently diagnosed (at a different vet) with a somewhat rare parasite (Tritrichomonas),…read moreand I was having a hard time finding a vet I felt confident in. My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.
