Boss the awesome elderly main coon cat

- Outstanding Care for My Elderly Cat Dr. R. Braun and the entire staff at Sam Bass Veterinary Wellness are like family to me and my 23-year-old blind Maine Coon, Boss. They go above and beyond every single time. They not only provide top-tier medical care but also insist that I call them anytime -- good or bad -- to update them on Boss's condition. They patiently answer every single question I have, no matter how "goofy" it might seem, and never make me feel rushed or dismissed. There have been a lot of ups and downs with an elderly cat, but these folks have been there through all of it -- consistently supportive, kind, and professional. They truly care about their patients and the people who love them. I won't be going anywhere else for veterinary care. If you want compassionate, knowledgeable professionals who treat your pets like their own, this is the place. -- Matt & Boss the Cat

I wouldn't trust anyone else to help me care for this sweet girl and handsome little man. Dr. Murphy and Dr. Murdock are the two docs that we have met. We saw them once for an eye issue that was an emergency and then a couple of years worth for wellness visits and vaccinations and such. They are excellent providers and they help us make good decisions about our cats wellness because they are knowledgeable about alternative medicines available and they care about the animals they see. They are dedicated and passionate about it. They take time to teach you. It isn't a mill where you are in and then shoved out quickly. The value we see in the money spent here is a great one. Please give them a try. Support our favorite veterinarians. We love them and want them to thrive as much as our sweet animals do in their care.

Amazing vet, awesome and friendly team. Lovely calming waiting area with amazing pictures on the wall. Thanks for everything you do.

Amazing vet, awesome and friendly team. Lovely calming waiting area with amazing pictures on the wall. Thanks for everything you do. We felt looked after throughout the process and the fees seemed reasonable.

Charges in excess of requested services for a spay and two vaccines.

RE: Owner's Reply You intentionally included services and fees that I did not request when I scheduled an appointment to have my pet spayed. Why? To maximize your profit at my expense? It's not enough for you to simply vaccinate and spay, as requested. Apparently, you can't safely spay a cat unless you charge hundreds of dollars for additional services. I will never return to your facility. You can be honest about your methods, or keep blaming the customer for being stupid enough to sign your invoice "for potential charges," as your desk clerk delicately put it. Enjoy your profits!

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so we've tried out a lot of vets and spend more time in these offices than we'd like. This is by far the best vet we have ever found. The staff is always cheerful and welcoming. You can tell everyone here truly cares about the animals. And to top it off, the prices are incredibly reasonable! Dr. Kniffen takes a conservative approach to treatments. At times, he has suggested buying things at a drug store to save money (like Benadryl and a humidifier). He doesn't jump into doing a bunch of tests, X-rays, ultrasounds and the like, unless it's truly warranted. Unfortunately, that seems to be very uncommon with veterinarians these days--it's like they want to milk every dime out of you that they can. I would recommend Highway 79 to anyone looking for a good vet with reasonable pricing. This might be one of the few places left that hasn't been taken over by a big corporation.

It is highly important to be pleasant and polite with customers at all times since they're the ones that put your bread and butter on the table. The staff however is nice. But as far as pet medications go, for the medication that was needed, it was double the cost of what I found it to be elsewhere. However, on the vet clinic's web site that they want you to order from, triple the cost. I don't know why "greed" has to enter the picture. Why not charge affordable prices and thus show love of neighbor since many out there are struggling to make ends meet?

Which would be absolutely fine if I hadn't specifically asked for anti-anxiety medications for my dog. When she arrived at the vet today the total cost for the visit had jumped to an estimated 304$, for included blood tests on top of the exam. I absolutely understand this is necessary, but when I called to ask why that was not part of the estimation the reply was "Not all anxiety medication requires blood testing." I don't understand how a veterinarian could hear that a dog has anxiety issues, and not have any idea that she's going to need testing for said issue, especially after multiple days of calling in to check. Tying it all off with a wonderful bow, by the time I had someone willing to help and didn't see fit to answer all my questions rudely. My partner had already been forced to pay the cancellation fee and barred from returning as well as one of the employees going out of her way to call my character into question. TLDR: I absolutely 1000% understand not all anxiety meds require bloods testing, I also understand that none of them were ruled out ahead of time so it should've been in the estimation. When I called to ask why it hadn't been included the First Lady was very rude, by the time I had someone else on the phone explaining we were banned.

I spoke with Martha over the phone, and she was able to set up an appointment with an internal medicine vet for less than a week later. The waiting area is large, and there's a small space for isolating cats (in carriers, of course). This was appreciated. Once in a room, a vet tech asked thorough questions and took notes. Then our cat was whisked away for an exam by Dr. Hoh, a veterinary internal medicine specialist. Our cat was returned to the room and Dr. Hoh came in to speak with us. Her many years of experience, combined with our observations, changed the course of treatment for our cat. For the time being, we will be taking a more conservative approach and reporting back to the internist in a few weeks. As it turned out, the person I initially spoke with over the phone checked us out when we left. Martha was just as friendly and helpful in person as she was over the phone. Places like this are not cheap to visit, but given we were not in an emergency situation and the fact that a specialist was involved it was not at all unreasonable. More importantly, we were greatly relieved and are cautiously optimistic about our cat's prognosis.
