Everyone here is so kind, knowledgeable, and just likable/personable in general! This is my first time being a pet parent, and had a million questions and Dr. Cassens was very patient with me, and took my concerns seriously. She takes all the time needed to listen and there is no rushing whatsoever. While it is my first time being a pet parent, I'm usually the one that takes my parent's dogs to THEIR vet and it is the opposite experience of Emerald Vet. We often have to wait a half hour, just to see a condescending provider that is rushing the appointment. Additionally, my pup is the type to dig his paws in once we get to a vet or groomer and has to be carried inside, but this was not the case here. He was happy and fairly calm the entire time we were there. He didn't enjoy being on the examination table, but there was no scrambling or trying to get off. They are a bit pricier, but are transparent with their pricing and there is no surprise when paying because when I ask what each thing will cost, I get a straight answer. I just now picked up a prescription and am sitting in the parking lot writing this review lol I am so glad we found Emerald Vet, and I can't recommend it enough!! (also, they draw little pictures on all their prescription bags! They are so cute that I always save them. Pic attached)

If I could give Dr. Cassens and staff 10 stars I would gladly do so! She is the best cat vet I've ever had! She knows and understands cats better than any vet I've had. She and her team are also wonderful people, too. If you need a vet who understands cats, she's your woman! I've had 7 cats over my life, 2 of the last three were "special needs " ones. They were rescued at about 6-8 months old, had no socialization with humans, etc. The lady who ran the shelter asked me if I could take them on and I did. It took a year or so but they eventually became loveable pets...to me. Everyone else they were frightened of and would fight if they got near. They were absolutely terrified of cat carriers, boxes, bags or anything that would confine them. I had one vet tell me he didn't want to see them again after one of them clawed him so badly he had to get stitches. Dr. Cassens and her brave crew would come to my house and give them their shots and examine them. Their patience and care with those two was/is exceptional and far above what ANY vet would do! I had to put one of them down last year and the care and compassion for her was wonderful! I asked her for advice on what to look for in a new kitty considering the nature of the one that was left and it was spot on! They're playing together, which is something I haven't seen the other do in a long time. Photo of the new kitty after being spayed, relaxing at home.

The vet, who seemed almost annoyed at having to play nursemaid to an ailing cat came back out a few minutes later and said she was gone. Make no mistake, Elsa had numerous complications, and I probably would have had to put her down eventually. But it would have been on my terms, and she would have been with me instead of dying at the hands of a compassionless ghoul. If I had gone straight home from Sage Imaging instead of stopping by this house of horrors that passes for a vet hospital, Elsa would be alive. Steer clear of this place like you would the Bates Motel. Nothing but death and sorrow await you.

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so we've tried out a lot of vets and spend more time in these offices than we'd like. This is by far the best vet we have ever found. The staff is always cheerful and welcoming. You can tell everyone here truly cares about the animals. And to top it off, the prices are incredibly reasonable! Dr. Kniffen takes a conservative approach to treatments. At times, he has suggested buying things at a drug store to save money (like Benadryl and a humidifier). He doesn't jump into doing a bunch of tests, X-rays, ultrasounds and the like, unless it's truly warranted. Unfortunately, that seems to be very uncommon with veterinarians these days--it's like they want to milk every dime out of you that they can. I would recommend Highway 79 to anyone looking for a good vet with reasonable pricing. This might be one of the few places left that hasn't been taken over by a big corporation.

It is highly important to be pleasant and polite with customers at all times since they're the ones that put your bread and butter on the table. The staff however is nice. But as far as pet medications go, for the medication that was needed, it was double the cost of what I found it to be elsewhere. However, on the vet clinic's web site that they want you to order from, triple the cost. I don't know why "greed" has to enter the picture. Why not charge affordable prices and thus show love of neighbor since many out there are struggling to make ends meet?

Dear White Rock Team,…read more  I wanted to take a moment to express just how deeply grateful I am for every single one of you. Your kindness, patience, and genuine care have meant more to me than I can fully put into words.   Several years ago, I lost my German Shepherd, Cairo, in a way that left a permanent mark on my heart. He became very sick, very fast, and I rushed him to an emergency clinic hoping for help. Instead, he was placed in a holding room alone for 24 hours before anyone ever looked at him. By the time I saw him again, his tongue had turned black, and green bile was coming from his mouth. He passed away in my arms at only two years old.   I was young, devastated, and completely lost. I had to roll my boy up in a rug, sobbing as I carried him back to that same clinic because I didn't know what else to do. They never asked if I was okay. They never expressed sympathy. They only tried to sell me services I couldn't afford. The way they handled his life--and his death--left a hole in my home, in my heart, and even my cat and I fell into a deep depression. It also left me with a deep fear and mistrust of veterinary care.   So when it came time to bring Rogue in, I carried all of that pain and hesitation with me. But then I met all of you.   From the very moment we walked in, your warmth and compassion were obvious. You were gentle, attentive, and you treated Rogue like the precious soul she is. From the front desk staff to the doctor sitting on the floor--covered in Cheese Whiz, no less--you showed us what real veterinary care is supposed to look like. You made us feel safe. You made us feel seen. And you gave me something I wasn't sure I would ever get back: trust.   Thank you, truly, for restoring my faith in the profession and for treating my Rogue with the love and dignity every animal deserves. You turned what could have been a fearful day into one full of relief and gratitude. I will never forget the kindness you showed us. We will be coming back. With all my heart,  Jessica Coombs

Dr. Louth is an amazing veterinarian…read more I took my kinkajou, Coco, to see him because her canine teeth needed attention. Since she was a baby, she had a habit of sucking her thumb, which caused her canines to grow in crooked. Over time, they began curving over her other teeth and pointing toward the back of her throat. She was struggling to eat and losing a significant amount of weight. Initially, the plan was to remove the canines. However, before proceeding, Dr. Louth recommended blood work and X-rays to ensure she was healthy enough for surgery. At the time, I did not fully understand why that was necessary, but I trusted his judgment. Those X-rays ended up saving her life. They revealed that one of her canine roots had grown deep into her jaw, and the other had extended into the front portion of her jaw. If he had proceeded with extraction without imaging, it could have fractured her jaw, and she might not have survived the surgery. Dr. Louth contacted me immediately to explain what he saw and calmly discussed an alternative plan. Instead of removing the teeth, he recommended filing the canines down and placing caps on them so they would sit flush with her other teeth, allowing her to eat comfortably and safely. I had several questions, and he took his time answering each one thoroughly, explaining the procedure and expected outcome in detail. After the surgery, he personally called to let me know that everything went well and that Coco was in recovery. When I picked her up, the discharge paperwork was incredibly detailed, with clear aftercare instructions. I also learned that she weighed only 1.5 pounds -- less than when she was a baby -- which confirmed just how critical this procedure was for her survival. Today, Coco is eating well, back to a healthy weight, and so much happier. I truly believe Dr. Louth's thoroughness, caution, and expertise saved her life. I will never forget what he did for my baby girl. I recommend him wholeheartedly. He is now and forever Coco's doctor.

Edit: Owner of the clinic called to discuss his failed "nail trim" - we weren't there for a nail…read moretrim. They can't get basic information correct which is concerning. I emailed and called about his vet records two weeks ago which were never sent. I called again this morning for them and they said I was probably using the wrong email - they emailed me the vet records while I was on the phone from the same email address I was sending requests to. This place is not well-run or well-organized. If you value quality care, this is not it. I started going to this clinic because I moved away from the clinic I've brought my dog to for 5 years. To preface, he is a big boy, 87 lbs but he has no bite history and has never once been aggressive. He does have fear going to the vet because he had to have emergency surgery 3 years ago and recovery was stressful for him. I first went to this clinic for his annual exam; they asked me to come back with him on a regimen of 2 gaba / 2 trazadone the night before and then another 2 gaba / 2 trazadone the morning of. I understood, and agreed to reschedule, even knowing it would mean an additional exam charge. Historically, his anxiety has over ridden the medication because of his vet- related trauma. However, if I am in the room, and I am the one who muzzles him, he is much easier to handle. Again, he has never bit anyone and is not aggressive at all. His previous clinic was able to follow this protocol with no problem, we were always able to be seen and the issue at hand was always taken care of. I attempted to schedule an appointment with this clinic for his Anal Gland Expression and had him only on Gaba because again, even if he's on the full course of meds, he is still anxious and the only thing that has helped has been me being present in the room. I explained all of this to the tech that he is much better when I am in the room and that I always help restrain and muzzle him, even at this clinic, and that his anxiety overrides medication. The tech still took him alone to the back, which obviously increased his anxiety, and then rejected seeing him because he wasn't able to be still without letting me help him. They then suggested I place him on an extra dose of trazadone before vet visits, increasing the dose to 4 gaba / 5 trazadone total within 12 hours which seems incredibly excessive for a ten minute non-invasive procedure and without considering changing how they handle him and listening to me as to what I know works for him. It seems like they aren't able to handle large dogs, or anxious dogs without over-medicating them. They didn't charge this time, but it's disappointing interacting with a clinic that doesn't seem to want to work with me on how they handle him. I understand that they are fear-free, but if they don't help him work through his fear by changing their handling of him to what is tried and true and works, medicating doesn't change the fear, it just suppresses it. Fear-free means adapting handling to what is proven to work for that specific animal, listening to the owner as to what works, and not increasing anxiety by taking him alone to the back room and then using that to justify increased medication. I also understand some clinics just aren't a good fit and may be better for other type of dogs, but in my opinion, they are not good with large, anxious, non-aggressive dogs.

At that time we just got our 2-month old kitten for 5 days and he didn't eat anything nor drink a drop of water, and vomit a few times a day for 3-4 days. We were so worried since he was very little and dehydrating for 3 days could possible killed him. Prior to this visit, we took our kitten to ASAP Vet: Veterinary Urgent Care and they took a real great care of him by putting a water ball into his back and helping with his eye infection. Anyway, they weren't sure what was the cause of our kitten's vomiting and not eating and drinking, so we tried to schedule him to see a regular vet. The earliest schedule we could get him to see a regular vet in the near by area was at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital. We checked the hospital got quite nice reviews and were hoping that the vets here would be able to find the cause of our kitten's symptom. Instead, my husband and I were so shocked with the way Dr. B, Keterin Bonvillain, treating our kitten. After we told her about his symptoms, she suddenly and brutally opened our kitten's mouth widely and at that time he was just a little over a palm size. She looked at him a very little bit and then simply told us she had no idea. We asked her if the kitten's symptoms could be from poisoning? Her answer was still no idea and she kept saying that I...I...I had no idea!! And then she said something like it may be from where you adopted the kitten. We answered her that we got him from a breeder. She seemed hesitate a little and then acted nicer! She opened his mouth again and checked a little more, but still kept saying she had no idea. The worst for us was how come any vets could treat an adopted animal differently than a breed animals!! It might just her bad day, we didn't know, but the way she treated the little animal was very unkind and even brutal. As well, she kept telling us she had no idea almost 10 times without any suggestions and didn't care or try to help our kitten from his dehydration at all. We took our kitten home and then decided took him back to ASAP Vet again. They put one more water ball in his back and gave us a syringe and liquid food to inject into his mouth. We could tell the way an urgent care treat our little kitten was way better and more gentle and more care than Dr B, Keterin Bonvillain, did. Luckily, following ASAP Vet recommendations, in a few days our kitten back to eat and drink and now grow up to be a big beautiful boy. Back to that time, soon after our kitten got better, we learned that he had been having an anxiety from getting a new owner. Although we knew getting a new owner can be very stressful for a kitten and the kitten might have been hiding and fear, we never imagined a little kitten would be in much anxiety to vomit and stop eating and drinking completely for almost a week. Hopefully, our experience from our kitten's anxiety may be helpful to other people who have just got a kitten. In short: - Not recommended Dr B, Keterin Bonvillain although she already moved to another vet hospital. From our experience she was unkind, inconsiderate, and careless. - The price maybe standard, but totally waste of money and time. - The hospital is Very Old, smelled Old and as same as the room.
