There aren't enough words to express how grateful I am for everyone at Leander Vet Clinic, especially Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Morehead. No one ever wants the phone call telling them that their dog is dying. My sweet boy, Diesel, was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and hearing that there was nothing more we could do was one of the hardest moments of my life. Even in that heartbreaking conversation, Dr. Mitchell met me with incredible compassion. When I asked if I could bring Diesel home for one last night together before saying goodbye the next morning, he understood how important that time was to me. I'll always be thankful for that grace. Losing a pet is devastating. You know they'll never live forever, but nothing truly prepares you for the day you have to let them go. Throughout the entire process, I never felt alone. Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Morehead, and the entire team treated Diesel with dignity, kindness, and genuine love. They answered every question, never rushed me, and helped me make the hardest decision I've ever had to make. What stands out most about this clinic is that they care. They celebrate the good days with you, and they walk through the hardest days with you too. You can tell they became veterinarians because they love animals and the people who love them. They are thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and incredibly compassionate. Diesel was my best friend. We navigated my twenties together, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss him. Knowing he was cared for by people who loved him too brings me an incredible amount of peace. On a lighter note, I also love their rewards program. While I'm not ready for another dog anytime soon, it makes me smile knowing those points will be there if that day ever comes. If you're looking for a veterinary clinic that will care for your pet as if they were their own, whether it's for a routine visit or the hardest day you'll ever face, I cannot recommend Leander Vet Clinic enough. I was charged for a service that was not done in the past and had to call to get a refund. Today I had an appointment for heart worm testing for both my dogs only to be told that they can't write a prescription for preventative today and that 1 of my dogs needs a well check as well to get the prescription. They both tested negative and they both need written prescriptions because they don't carry the brand I use. All of which they knew when I made the appointment and failed to mention. Now I have to wait until the end of the week to come back. Always something here. I don't recommend this business at all. Last time when I called and talked to the vet about being charged for a fecal that wasn't done and I wasn't told but was charged for it. He was rude and accused me of lying about not being told or given a cup to bring back in. Very bad customer service from a vet himself. read more

07/01/2025 I've newly arrived in TX and was referred to L.V.C. by a friend. I took my dog Sam in for a simple anal expression and a nail trim. The groomer returned with Sam and stated something, which I didn't clearly hear, like She couldn't do a good job because Sam didn't cooperate? When I got home and looked at the nail trim job it was the worst I had ever seen in the 5 years that I have had Sam. Sam is not typically labeled as a difficult dog. And he has seen many groomers. So, upon paying the full charge for an incomplete nail trim, and returning home, I asked myself. why was I charged full price for a poorly performed job? Further, as a new arrival to the area, should I expect this sort of business model throughout Texas? I certainly would hope not. My husband took my two TFTs in for their routine exams and shots 2 weeks ago. One of my babies was in pain and had difficulty walking afterwards. This week they went in for their second set of shots and now both are in pain, acting nervous/traumatized and shaking. All day they were cowering. A wide variety of of services, but we keep getting charged for a fecal. I find it unprofessional to charge prior to the service. I can rarely catch my dog pooping and we have 3 using the same yard! Get a sample in house or leave it off my bill. Feeling like we are being played. read more

LVC has been wonderful, they have helped me spay/neuter about 5 feral kittens. Helped me with my boxer who became blind and eventually needed to cross the rainbow bridge. Also with a rescue, dog, that had the worst UTI they have ever seen. The staff is just wonderful, kind and caring. They sometimes take the little dogs in the waiting area that are afraid and hold them in their lap. The Dr.s are not pushy and don't mind if you refuse some of their recommendations, such as testing and meds. Always give you what the procedures, shots and meds will cost before they proceed. The receptionist was very rude! It was beyond the imagination!! They took my dog for 10 minutes inside and I wasn't even able to stay with her while she was getting shots. The Vet came out to the waiting area and spent 20 seconds to explain what he did but no questions were allowed. The waiting area was small and all the pets here looked uncomfortable. Our 70lb boxer/lab had some complications after his neuter surgery (regretfully, we got him neutered at a low cost spay/neuter clinic, not LVC) and it resulted in a nasty infection. We made the drive from round rock to leander to have Dr. Morehead perform the surgery to remove the abscess. All the doctors here are kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate. The office staff is friendly and professional. It's always easy to get an appointment as they are super responsive to calls and emails! We've never had a bad experience. We were expecting the cost of a surgery to be over $1000 but nope... it was around $450. They are open about the cost up front which is nice. They even called us the next day to check on Hoover. I've used Leander Vet now for a couple of years and would trust them with my pets life. They've rescued my poor cats from everything from dental issues to eating styrofoam (I promise I'm a good owner, I just have a derpy cat). Their pricing is good and I really like that they were proactive in alerting me that now that my pets are senior in age that they need much more regular check-ups and care. Us pet owners care for our kids, and I can't imagine missing something when a regular check-up could have caught it. read more

My dog came down with pneumonia about a month ago. After having a terrible experience at Banfield, I knew I needed a second opinion. I love that this vet clinic has walk in hours daily. Please understand that when doing a walk in, you may have to wait but they will see you! After having X-rays done, a CBC and a lot of medications, it was pretty expensive as every vet clinic is but I have insurance that is definitely worth every penny for these types of situations. They were very understanding and patient with my dog and called me a few days after his appointments to check up on him. I will never go back to this clinic. I brought in my 3 year old 6-pound Morkie in wonderful health for routine vaccinations. When my dog was brought back out, he had dried blood on his back to which the nurse explained even to her surprise that the "old school doctor" must've vaccinated him straight in the back-next to his chip. I'm appalled that he wasn't vaccinated in the thigh due to his size. He's been shaking, limping, and distressed since coming home from this clinic. He has gone to other clinics and had these vaccines put in his thigh which caused mild soreness and he was able to go on as usual. He has not gotten out of bed even to go to the bathroom because the "old school doctor" decided to put his shots straight in the back causing extreme discomfort. Don't bring your dog here. read more

This place will charge you an arm and a leg. It pays to go to small town vet's. This place makes you pay to de-flea your pet, even if you can prove they already are protected. Just another of many add on fees. The regular fees are twice as high. I guess they have to pay for that new building. read more

A big shout out to Kristin! She's a staff member at the clinic. My dog also boards there and she ensures he receives much love and care. In fact, Kristin is the reason I took him to the clinic in the first place. As I mentioned in my previous review, I was leaving for a trip to Minneapolis last fall. The day before my trip, Rocco developed pancreatitis. I researched veterinary clinics and frantically called the Leander clinic. Kristin answered the phone in her calm and very friendly demeanor. The clinic was booked that day but Kristin assured me they'd fit Rocco in right away. Keep in mind Rocco had never been seen by the veterinarians there. He is now is a patient of Dr. Morehead whom I also like and receives expert care every time he visits. UPDATE: The Vet Clinic took this review and made HUGE improvements! Before reading the review know that they have changed and do go over prices, services and have you sign a consent prior to service now. Front desk is more informative and a bit more cheered up this time around. Original Review I moved to Leander in August so looking for new services in the area I want to examine why the ratings at this place varied. Since I wanted to get a good understanding of this office, I did not ask my usual questions I just wanted them to function how they normally do which would help other animal owners coming to the area. After my visit, I understand why this place has such different ratings, so I decided to break my visit down. There is a huge problem with their billing I will address at the end. Front Office (2-3 rating) I visited the office the week before to fill out paperwork and set up an appointment for my three dogs. The person up front was pleasant enough. I told her that my dogs each needed a Bordetella shot and one required rabies. I told them my old vet would fax over their paperwork, I set up the appointment, and that was it. The woman that worked on this day was the 3-star rating since she was nice. When I came in with my three little ones, the two women in the front were very diminished. My visit was at 930 in the morning, and they looked like they pulled a 24-hour shift. They had very rude and poor attitudes when either of them spoke. What I was there for was never gone over with me by any of the front office employees. (this is important, and I will explain later) Veterinarian Assistant (3-4 rating) I gave them a slightly higher rating than the front because the two that were in and out of the room were very nice. Each one seemed so happy around my dogs. After they had pulled the second one, they stated a couple of things they were doing. Again, with this group as well neither stated what they were going to do before they did it. That is why I didn't give them a 4-5 or 5 rating. Veterinarian (5 rating) The Veterinarian was very excited to be with my little ones. He explained what shots were to go to each dog before it took place. He also spoke to me in detail about each dog and any problems they may have. He went over the dental procedure that one of my dogs needed in detail as well as gave me an estimate of the procedure. Prices (4 rating) Certain services at my last vet were included in a visit such as a nail trim which is not a huge deal. The prices only slightly differed so while some services are more expensive others were slightly cheaper, so it balances out. Breaking it down: Fecal Examination - 20 Canine Wellness - 25 Bordetella - 15 Heartworm Test - 30 Rabies - 15 In total I paid 285 in which I figured it would run around 300. Warning to all new animal owners and Huge Issue!!! As I mentioned before, nothing was gone over with me on what was being done to my dogs until the Vet was involved. Now since I have had them for nine years, I understand that a Wellness exam needs to be done every year as well as how much it would cost. It would also need to be done upon arriving at a new vet. That still does not mean that you can just do procedures on animals without permission, not explain it or say anything until after you do it and then hit the owner with a bill. When paying up at the front, I was slightly annoyed because one of the women reprimanded the vet assistant for not going over the dental estimate with me. I said it was already gone over, she did not care and made him do it right then and there. The only reason why it annoyed me was that the front of the house failed to go over everything else! Suggestions for this place: Get signed permission from the owner of the animal before service. Getting signed agreement makes sure that everything is explained; price, what needs to completed, what the owner is willing to have done to the animal. I say willing to do because a fecal exam has never been done on my dogs, it was never required before, and if things were gone over with me, I would have asked if it was mandatory and if it were not I would have refused. Suggestion to those coming here: Do not be afraid to be vocal or ask questions especially if you are a new animal owner. I got spoiled by my previous Vet and only asked questions if what they went over did not make sense to me. Also, know and understand that the front of the house is unpleasant at times and focus on the people taking care of your animals which are the vet and the vet's assistants who are very pleasant. -Hope this helps read more

After numerous trips to multiple comics, some specialists, I literally stumbled upon Leander Vet Clinic. Dr Whitehill was carrying, patient and very effective in finally giving me a diagnosis for my or dog. Sadly, after several weeks of searching for an answer, it was too late to save him. FYI...while my wife was inside arguing with you about your pricing policies, I called the online pharmacy, and they would not fill it without the vet's permission and I hardly think a publicly traded company like 1 800 Petmeds would fill fraudulent prescriptions. You also failed to mention the half hour of ours that you wasted or the our lives or the aggravation you put us through. I have never bothered to do an online review in my life, and now I've done two. That should tell you how bad your service was and how badly you upset a two year customer. Well done! read more

I'm very wary of anything in Leander. Temporary living here for 3 months has made me realize how lucky I am to own a condo in the '04. This place is desolate! So when my big boy doggie came down with an allergic reaction to Leander I didn't know what to do! My mom suggested her vet since it would be tough to get Tucker down to our vet anytime soon. So for his best interest, I called to see if they could get him in since the rash was getting pretty bad. They were great on the phone, got us in that day, AND they remembered my mom and her cat who go there. Upon getting there they promptly checked us in and we were in a room stat! The vet tech was awesome, shook my hand, and introduced himself since we had never met. The doc was in quick and they were both great with my big man! They loaded us up with all sorts of meds and within a day the rash was calming down and Tucker was feeling much better. So even though the rash wasn't from Leander as I suspected, we are still getting out of here soon. BUT in the event one of my furry babies goes down again while we are here, I will go back to Leander Veterinary Clinic to make them feel better. read more
