I've used Castlerock since I moved to Georgetown, Texas. The original vet, Maggie Stummer, had actually interned under my vet in Humble, Texas (small world) ...he was excited for me to use her! She did not disappointment me - she was proactive but a non-alarmist! Perfect! She sold her practice and the new vet, Dr. Hoff is also wonderful - the times we have seen him he has been friendly, and right on with his treatments and bedside manner! The staff is new, except for JD! JD is fantastic and the new group is young and very helpful as well as courteous. I am glad that they are here in Georgetown, to help me with my pets!

This is Sasha a few weeks ago. My adorable Black Beauty.

After almost a year at another Vet I decided enough was enough. I was told that 12 years of taking care of my previous lovely pet who had past away in 2022 that my dog now was a different dog so to discount all the years of allergy shots that I gave, cooking for her so she survived to 14 1/2 years. My present dog is 16 months old, since April she has had problems loose stools at first vomiting, I have had to separate and starve her so she would eat certain foods to help her, one of those times was 3 days. I decided to call Castlerock this week I had had quiet enough of the old Vet. In one visit with Dr. Hoff at Castlerock, he was kind, very considerate of my knowledge regarding allergies...and the love I have for my dogs. In my visit, he took blood work up, antibiotic in her ears after checking, took her temperature, took her back for blood work up. I left with dog food with Turkey, antihistamine prescription, so when I added the special prescription can food, my dog ate and ate again, and wanted more, but of course it's a new food. I have her the antihistamine last night. 12 hours later this morning I gave her her 2nd Antihistamine. To my surprise I always put this special dry food in her bowl just in case she eats, she has not eaten that dry food in the mornings for months and I do mean months. She came in ate 3/4ths of that bowl of dry food, took her antihistamine and wanted more. I almost feel over. One visit with Dr. Hoff and his expertise calmed my fears down that I have had to not feed or feed something that she wouldn't eat for months....in one visit he had her eating and wanting more. i will get the results of the blood workup Monday. Please someone tell me how in the world a Vet and they are some of the top vets who wouldn't listen to me her owner for months couldn't do what Dr. Hoff at Castlerock could do in one visit? I am one happy happy dog owner this morning, and so is my standard Doodle....56 lbs worth, she has lost a couple of pounds during my old Vets assessments. Thank you Dr. Hoff and Castlerock for being one fantastic Vet Hospital. Thank you!

At that time we just got our 2-month old kitten for 5 days and he didn't eat anything nor drink a drop of water, and vomit a few times a day for 3-4 days. We were so worried since he was very little and dehydrating for 3 days could possible killed him. Prior to this visit, we took our kitten to ASAP Vet: Veterinary Urgent Care and they took a real great care of him by putting a water ball into his back and helping with his eye infection. Anyway, they weren't sure what was the cause of our kitten's vomiting and not eating and drinking, so we tried to schedule him to see a regular vet. The earliest schedule we could get him to see a regular vet in the near by area was at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital. We checked the hospital got quite nice reviews and were hoping that the vets here would be able to find the cause of our kitten's symptom. Instead, my husband and I were so shocked with the way Dr. B, Keterin Bonvillain, treating our kitten. After we told her about his symptoms, she suddenly and brutally opened our kitten's mouth widely and at that time he was just a little over a palm size. She looked at him a very little bit and then simply told us she had no idea. We asked her if the kitten's symptoms could be from poisoning? Her answer was still no idea and she kept saying that I...I...I had no idea!! And then she said something like it may be from where you adopted the kitten. We answered her that we got him from a breeder. She seemed hesitate a little and then acted nicer! She opened his mouth again and checked a little more, but still kept saying she had no idea. The worst for us was how come any vets could treat an adopted animal differently than a breed animals!! It might just her bad day, we didn't know, but the way she treated the little animal was very unkind and even brutal. As well, she kept telling us she had no idea almost 10 times without any suggestions and didn't care or try to help our kitten from his dehydration at all. We took our kitten home and then decided took him back to ASAP Vet again. They put one more water ball in his back and gave us a syringe and liquid food to inject into his mouth. We could tell the way an urgent care treat our little kitten was way better and more gentle and more care than Dr B, Keterin Bonvillain, did. Luckily, following ASAP Vet recommendations, in a few days our kitten back to eat and drink and now grow up to be a big beautiful boy. Back to that time, soon after our kitten got better, we learned that he had been having an anxiety from getting a new owner. Although we knew getting a new owner can be very stressful for a kitten and the kitten might have been hiding and fear, we never imagined a little kitten would be in much anxiety to vomit and stop eating and drinking completely for almost a week. Hopefully, our experience from our kitten's anxiety may be helpful to other people who have just got a kitten. In short: - Not recommended Dr B, Keterin Bonvillain although she already moved to another vet hospital. From our experience she was unkind, inconsiderate, and careless. - The price maybe standard, but totally waste of money and time. - The hospital is Very Old, smelled Old and as same as the room.

Dr. Tarleton is the answer for those of you who just need good basic veterinary care without the…read morecorporate overhead. In case you don't know, most of the veterinary clinics are being gobbled up by corporate monoliths, eager to tap into the lucrative market of doting pet parents who want to know everything their pet can't tell them. So they develop lists of mandatory services--much like car dealerships--that include $200 of lab work each visit, $35 nail trims, plus charges for all the extra staff it takes to make you feel like your baby is being carefully inspected from head to toe. Unfortunately, a lot of times, the vet techs at these three-letter places might love pets, but haven't the first clue what to do other than cuddle them since yesterday they were taking your order at Happy McBurgermeister. Make no mistake. This is an animal hospital, country-style. It is not your marble-countered, Starbucks-serving, rest-your-tushy-on-leather-sofas-while-you-wait pet resort. You'll see and smell large animals in vet pens behind the parking lot. You'll need to wait in your car or outside with your pet until they call you in since there isn't a large waiting room. This office emphasizes function (keeping pets well) over form (keeping owners pampered). If you want to pay extra for personal comfort or to light up the midnight sky with branding signage, have mercy on yourself and meander on over where those things are possible. I took our pupperonis in yesterday for their second round of vaccines. We were about 10 minutes early, and had to wait about 20 minutes to be called inside. When we were, we were immediately escorted back to a spartan treatment room with a single wooden chair. Dr. Tarleton came in immediately to confirm our treatment, and came back almost as quickly with the syringes. The furbabies were in and out in under 5 minutes. No muss, no fuss. Shots over. I should mention that they have great deals with rebates on Virbac-branded heartworm treatment. The big names are about $20 more for 6 months. These also cover tapeworms, and there was a $10-25 rebate offered depending on how many you bought at once. I hesitate to quote prices, but, experientially, their heartworm meds were on par with prices I paid last year at Emancipet--actually, less, after the rebate. In the end, what I paid for were good, honest veterinary services and the time it took to render them. I genuinely appreciate the hyper-conscious effort Dr. Tarleton makes at cost containment and his no-frills approach to keeping the four-legged friends we love and who love us back healthy and happy.

I asked them if I could come back and they wanted to charge me more money. This time I too him to Old Town Vet Hospital. Emily [technician] was so extremely nice and helpful. She told me about home ear flushes I can do with Jerry. Emily was also very thorough explaining to the doctor what was wrong. While I was there I found a tick on my dogs ear. Dr. Harding was able to remove the tick and gave me instructions of odd signs to look for if my dog was affected. Dr. Harding told me about allergies my dog may have that might be contributing to his ear infections that I had no idea of. She gave me several different options for allergy treatment. She also gave me ear drops and prednisone to help with Jerry severe ear infection. Dr. Harding spent a lot of time going over treatments to prevent these chronic ear infections. She also gave me options that were more cost effective. Savanna came in at the end and gave me the medications and checked us out. None of these steps and treatment were given to me at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital and was charged a lot more with no resolution for Jerry. I absolutely felt heard and that my dog was taken well care of by Old Town Vet Hospital. I truly believe the staff wanted to get to the root of the issue so these ear infections do not keep happening. I would rate the staff and Dr. Harding 5 stars.

Even though we had never been clients before, they fit us in quickly so our dog would not continue to suffer. The kindness and compassion they showed us during that experience meant so much to our family, and because of that, I transferred our pets there as regular clients. I had wonderful experiences with Dr. Mundal and always felt our pets received thoughtful, attentive care from her. Unfortunately, after she left the practice, my experience changed significantly. One of the vet tech experiences left a very bad impression on me due to impatience and poor communication. I specifically requested not to work with that tech again. Beyond that, appointments often felt unprepared. Rather than reviewing my pet's chart beforehand, I was repeatedly asked for information that was already documented in the file, including medication lists and prior treatments. It became frustrating to feel like I was constantly re-explaining established medical history. I also repeatedly received reminders for vaccines and services that had already been completed months earlier. After this happened multiple times, it began to create concern about organization, oversight, and confidence in the accuracy of my pets' records. It was disappointing because our initial experience with Old Town was so positive and compassionate. Ultimately, due to the ongoing communication and organizational concerns, I decided to move my pets' care elsewhere.
