Matthew was very accommodating in meeting with the neighbors to assure them there would be minimal impact/disruption to their properties. There was a mixup in the lift provided and they needed a bigger lift. Matthew assured me it would be fixed at no additional costs to us. Thank you Matthew. Justus, Loa, Kaipo and Karl, were on site early to start on the project. Once the machinery issues with the lift were solved, they had the project done in a couple of hours. Took me up close to inspect the work and fixed another spot that was bothering me. So good to have this done. A huge thank you to Wayne, Tony, and Courtney for doing a beautiful job on a 75 year old retaining wall that was crumbling to bits. 5-6 cars or trucks routinely park on top of this wall and all that weight is too much for an old wall. We since have had three different professional consultations, and also solicited an independent geotechnical report. All were in agreement that the work done in 2022 was clearly substandard. We live on a hill and the cement block wall on the high side of our property developed a gaping crack and I didn't know who I could call to repair it. So thank you, Foundation Systems, for mailing out your flyer. I had it sitting on the kitchen counter for a few days and our son saw it in passing and commented, "I've worked with them. They're good." (game show lights immediately went off) I called for an estimate. George Smith came to inspect and he not only saw the deep "V" crack but he also noted that the wall, which ran the length of our lot, was beginning to tilt. "Hmmm," I said pondering the possibilities. "Maybe I can become a trendsetter!" Needless to say, this was not the first tilted block wall that had crossed George's path. He offered a solution. This solution assured us that our wall's life would eclipse ours. The ball began rolling, supplies were ordered and a date set. After years......decades.....of the house shifting, door not closing properly, tiles cracking.....we had our foundation checked out by Foundation Systems Hawaii. Wade was totally on it......super friendly and thorough......surveyed our house/property.....took pictures and measurements.....and came up with a reasonable proposal to fix.......level our house! Our house sank almost 4 inches in one corner. It was going to be a 2 day job and becuase of the holidays, we scheduled about a month out. During that month wait, a couple of slots opened up and they were so kind to ask if we wanted to move up the job. Because we had out of town guests.....and the holidays.....we kept our original schedule. Day of the job, Wade showed up in the morning......retook measurements and met with his team doing the job. Daniel's crew did the job and they were awesome. Some pretty huge guys and they were under the house in the dirt and whatever junk was under there....no complaints and just trying to do the job right. Appreciated that they constantly asking us to check doors, windows, interior cracks,.....any issues......and constantly retook readings inside the house and calibrating their jacks to make sure the house was level. It was exhausting for them and us....but in hindsight that's what you want.....someone caring about your house and making sure things are not rushed and done properly. I think we realized now that when we bought the house.....we should have brought people in to level the house back then before it sank even more. I think the previous owners did renovation on a crooked house so when the house got leveled.....some things look off. Would highly recommend Foundation Systems and especially Daniel's crew! Foundation Systems Hawaii did a stellar job on re-levelling our home. Wade made the initial visit to provide an estimate. We were a bit surprised that the work would take only two days, but that's exactly how long it took. During the project, the crew showed up exactly on time and communicated any concerns they had. Some parts of our home had to be brought up almost 6 inches, and some additional plumbing work was needed. We also have an outdoor staircase that needs to be replaced after the re-levelling, and they worked around that. Tim Mort was onsite the first day and was very pleasant to talk to. When the project was done, the crew made sure that all our cabinets and doors would open and close. One door would not close even with adjustments, so Wade came by the next day to sand it down. They will send a rep out to view your damages, take photos and then send you an outrageous quote, and if you don't go with their quote, they will secretly inform the association management agency, which they also work with a great deal, of your damages without your knowledge. A few weeks ago, FSH repaired an old stone wall, dating back to the 1930s, that surrounded our Mānoa patio. Over the years, Id been watching it tilt and develop cracks until I recently realized something needed to be done soon before it completely fell apart. Over the years, guys driving by would offer to rebuild the wall saying it was too far gone to repair. I never took them up on their offer as at that time there were so many other repairs that needed to be done, but I heard it so often I believed that only a new rock wall build was the only solution. Several months ago, FSH was doing some extensive repairs to a house across the street. While talking to the owner of the house, I remembered that at one time, I was advised to talk to a structural engineer first before getting any work done and since she was very satisfied with them, I made an appointment. Im so glad that I did. The general manager Wade came to inspect the wall and make an estimate. I was thrilled when he said they could actually repair and save the wall without having to do a lot of extensive work. We would get to keep the walls cut rocks that were a part of early Honolulu development. On the first day, company president Tim Mort personally came to the house to go over the project with Wade and make some recommendations and revisions. The whole crew was there also and were part of the discussion. There was the project foreman Danny and his amazing team of Wayne, Steve, and Marcus (sorry, if I got the names wrong. I am so bad at remembering names.) You could not have asked for a better crew. They actually got along with each other and worked together as a cohesive unit. Every day, they showed up on time, and after greeting me, they would get to work. They were all very hardworking, respectful to me, my dogs, and property, unobtrusive, and highly skilled. Throughout the day, they would update me on the project, showing me what had been done or was going to be done, which would give me a chance to give feedback and then informing me when they were taking a lunch break or leaving. It was apparent that they took great pride in their work and even showed surprising artistry when patching the cracks. I believe it was Wayne who was able to create faux aged stones out of the mortar for one area with a huge gap and Danny made a good color choice for the mortar in other areas. And an unexpected benefit was the gate to a welded fence adjacent to the wall was able to be closed again. FHSs work far exceeded my expectations.
