Reliable and professional. They do amazing work and are meticulous to get the job done right. Built 2 homes with Gundaker works and was very pleased. I didn't even really have to go to the property much to do oversight as I trusted the workmanship being done. The home is 5 years old today and still looks amazing. They recently came to my other home to install all new flooring throughout our entire house. It came out beautiful and everyone comments on it. All the joints and seams are tight and have no gaps. In February 2016, we lost our North shore seawall due to extremely high surf. Our beach home that our family had since the 50s was literally hanging by a thread. I contacted multiple companies and had them come and look at the house and the wall. No one wanted to take the job. Structural Systems Inc. recommended I call Will from Gundaker Works. I got a hold of Will and he was at our beach home at 6:30 AM the next morning. Will looked at the damage and told me that he and his team could help. I was in tears! He immediately mobilized a team and started bringing down equipment and supplies to help save our house. It was the day before the 2016 Eddie Aikau was held at Waimea Bay and we had a very short window to save our house and prepare for the high surf that was slated to hit the north shore that very night. With the leadership of Will, Mark, and the help of their team along with our neighbors, they saved our house that night! Gundaker Works repaired our wall and our home to make sure that this would never happen again. Will and his team are a class act. Very experienced and made it all easy for me. Having 3 kids and busy lives Gundaker Works stood out to us because Mark was very professional and easy to talk to during our first meeting.  It turned out we had to wait a good half a year before starting our project and Mark made it a point to keep in touch with us in a way that was not pushy but to let us know he was ready whenever we were. As it turns out, Mark was making suggestions on how we can improve the design of our build.  Being so busy and easily forgetting who's who, none of the other companies reached out after giving us their proposal so we really appreciated that. When we were ready Mark worked with us and recommended doing a custom build for our ADU.  He provided a lot of great ideas and is a great problem-solver... when issues arose he displayed such an even keeled temperament that made the project as stress-free as possible. Some examples were the many changes we imposed on him such as wanting to move the home to lower ground, he suggested how to best situate it, keep within budget, and added vaulted ceilings which became a show stopper.  Then we wanted to expand the whole home's square footage, it was such a huge added cost plus delay but he suggested a loft instead which became a unique aspect of the ADU.  When we were over budget in a few areas he was able to move around funds to accommodate them.  The best thing was the ease of talking to Mark.  We've been burned by other contractors before so when it came to problems or changes, I would reluctantly tell him and afterwards would feel a sign of relief because he was always so easy to communicate with. Blake, Levi, and Danny to name a few are very hardworking conscientious workers!  It seemed like every one of them that came to work on the house had their own version of OCD (which was an advantage to us). Even Will the owner was hands on during our concrete pours for the foundation and our parking lot, working hard to ensure it was done right.  Our lot was tight and there wasn't much room for margin, requiring them to think outside the box when there were a lot of moving parts. They were immaculate when finishing/cleaning up for the day and never left garbage around.  Our kids are young and curious and were always met with friendliness with all the guys even when they were in places where the workers were.   Our build completion was done quickly, ON budget, and the finished product is EXCEPTIONAL!   The entire Gundaker crew have integrity and take pride in their work and it shows in their attitude and our ADU! We couldn't be happier and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use them for future projects. My experience with the Gundaker team was as good as it gets. They arrived on time, managed the construction beautifully and were, to a person, polite and easy to work with. My project was complicated and lasted for quite a few months. When the team left at night, the construction site was clean and tools were put away. They did first rate work and while it may sound a little odd, the experience was really pleasant. We lived at our home during the job and while it could have been disruptive, it was not. I'd like to say a huge Mahalo to Gundaker Works! They helped me with digging out the original cesspool on my property and installing a septic system. Everyone that worked on the job was friendly and easy to talk to when I approached them with questions, giving me a knowledgeable answer that allowed me to have a better understanding about the process and how my septic system will work. After the septic system was installed and approved by the engineer and State, Gundaker Works was able to get started on remodeling the main home. I had drafted plans to add 2 new extension to my home with removing the existing trusses and roof that needed to be replaced to add extra ceiling height to the overall home. I wanted to save the original hardwood floors and majority of the walls. Will, Mark and their knowledgeable crew kept the original floors damage free and were able to match the original tung & groove walls to the new walls on the extensions were you can't tell the difference between old and new. The licensed Electician and Plumbing companies that Gundaker brought on to the job were friendly knowledgeable and great additions to complete the remodel. Once completed they walked me through the home explaining to me the steps they did to bring my home from what it was to it's current state. As a homeowner I felt confident moving in with the complete understanding of how the plumbing, electrical and structural integrity of my home works. I was given the name of this company by my son in law. He in turn was given it by a relative. My project at the moment is at a stand still. Waiting on the permitting process. My only contact so far has been with a nice sounding receptionist by phone and a really nice young man named Ryan Ching. He came to my home.
