Despite the tremendous amount of work involved, he took the time to really prep the floors and completed the entire project by himself. His work ethic, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were truly impressive. I'm exhausted just thinking of all the work he did! Joe was always kind, respectful, and kept us updated throughout the entire process so we always knew what to expect. Update:…read more Unfortunately I am changing my review to two stars. Our vinyl floors were complete in March 2023 and initially everything was great like I stated in my original review. We noticed in August 2025 that multiple planks were lifting up when walked on. We reached out to American Floor and Home and they swiftly sent someone to inspect. He was very thorough in his inspection and concerned at the condition of the floors/baseboards considering how recent they were installed. He put a claim in with the manufacturer Cali Bamboo. Since then, we've sent the pictures they requested, had their third party inspection complete, and still nothing has been remedied. We periodically get emails saying American Floor and Home is coordinating with the manufacturer and will receive updates as they come. It's been 8 months since this process has started and nothing has changed except the worsening condition of our floors and baseboards. Besides lifting, multiple planks now have cracks and chips in them. The baseboards continue to split between joints and now even from the wall itself. I've sent footage of the worsening damage and still nothing has been done to remedy anything. We spent a lot of money on this purchase and it's very disheartening that this is the response we are getting. Whether it's a manufacturer's issue or an installation issue, I'd expect some type of plan of action to fix this problem that is only getting worse the longer they delay it. Extremely disappointing.

But I was really drawn to Bauer because their team was noticeably thoughtful as they evaluated my existing flooring, and the strategy they discussed in how best to tackle the project. It was clear that this was a company that took pride in every project they took on, and were not in the habit of cutting corners. It was also a very competitive bid compared to other well-known flooring companies. They did not disappoint. From a duration estimate, professionalism, availability / communication, and quality standpoint, we could not be more pleased. The leveling and floor preparation process alone was something to be behold. Previous to hiring them, I had idle thoughts of taking on our flooring as a DIY. But there's no way I could have done what they did in this leveling process. We had 3 different types of floors across this space, and before they even began the installation, the preparation / leveling could have almost stood as a completed "concrete" floor. I even joked with the installer that just in removing / leveling what we had previously, they had already improved the look and continuity of our flooring. In the end, we're extremely pleased with the vinyl flooring installed as well as the baseboards and the new aesthetic it all creates for our downstairs. It's hard to find good companies that stand by their work and workmanship. I cannot sing any higher praises for Bauer Flooring! We are absolutely ecstatic.

The second time was purchasing ceramic tiles for the shower wall of my parents' condo during their building-wide plumbing replacement. Again, I wanted to match the existing shower walls (possibly from the 80's) and although a perfect match was not possible, the ones we chose are very close and look great. The installers came and did a great job and everything looked perfect. One small thing I want to point out is that the carpet scraped one side of the wall when they were cutting or laying it down, and didn't mention a word about it to me. I had to get the paint out and paint the wall about 1' by 5'. I didn't like that they couldn't fess up to that. I'm sure it must happen a lot of times. I'd go back again when my next room is ready for new flooring!

They explained every step of the way and any time they ran into any difficulties from the previous installers they informed me of them and already had multiple solutions. They didn't rush through the job at all and repaired things around the window on their own so that the rest of the area around the window looked just as new as the windows. Then, since the problem was a seal on the door, asked me if I simply wanted him to remove the seal to stop the sound, and gave me the pros and cons of doing so. I said yes and he removed the seal and put things back together. He gave me some tips on what to use to lubricate the door, as well as--if I ever wanted to replace the door--what I should look for and how to save money. We did a two phase remodel, the first of which was in anticipation of our coming to HI to retire. Sean was recommended by our property manager. We were doing this during a pandemic, from 2500 miles away, learning very quickly how limited decorator choices were on island. Like another reviewer stated, Sean was amazing. He would send texts with videos, comparisons, suggestions not only for materials but having worked in other units in our development, suggested upgrades and changes he'd done or seen that we frankly wouldn't have thought to do. These were truly suggestions, not an up sale because some weren't in his favor. He finished on time and it was pretty darn perfect when we arrived. A month later we attacked the kitchen. Sean again rose to the occasion, getting the job done under the estimated time and we absolutely love it, it's better than we ever thought it could be. With a referral from a friend of mine, I hired them to remodel may living room which looks old. Vintage is all the rage now but modern living room is very pleasing to the eye. They sent me proposal and I absolutely loved it at first look. They are very detailed and hands on with the project they have with my living room and I'm pleased with them. Our downstairs neighbors' ceiling was starting to bulge because of a leak coming from our place. After a plumber came in the fix the leak I needed to find someone quickly to take care of the giant hole the plumbers had to make in our neighbors' ceiling. I remember how quick they were to reach out when they wanted our business / $ but when we needed follow up assistance, no reply at all. Even if it was that they can't help us - they can still respond. I have reached out to a few other flooring companies and they were professional enough to respond to our inquiry. I never understood why some businesses believe it's okay to just ignore and not respond. Do the basic of basic things like respond to a text / email.

Seemed confident they could finish in one day. Matthew was very accommodating in meeting with the neighbors to assure them there would be minimal impact/disruption to their properties. There was a mixup in the lift provided and they needed a bigger lift. Matthew assured me it would be fixed at no additional costs to us. Thank you Matthew. Justus, Loa, Kaipo and Karl, were on site early to start on the project. Once the machinery issues with the lift were solved, they had the project done in a couple of hours. Took me up close to inspect the work and fixed another spot that was bothering me. So good to have this done. Want our building to last another 20 years and I feel this repair will insure this doesn't happen again. The crew had a lot of pride in their work. From taking out a side wall with electrical running through it to new cabinets, tile flooring, and all new kitchen/pantry/living room lighting.
