Brian told us he currently did not have the money, would be traveling in Europe for several weeks, but would "guarantee to pay at latest by June 5th." We will update this review accordingly. ORIGINAL REVIEW (April 2026): Using Brian's Painting was a very disappointing and costly experience that left us with an unfinished home and significant financial loss. We hired Brian for a $10,000 exterior painting project. After collecting $6,000, he completed only about 10% of the work, then abandoned the project and stopped communicating. Brian requested a 40% deposit ($4,000) and later an additional 20% ($2,000) after a short prep stage that took about eight hours. After receiving the $6,000, he returned only twice for brief visits over several weeks, then dropped the job, leaving the house unfinished. (See attached photos.) We attempted to resolve the matter in good faith. We agreed he could keep the $2,000 even though several licensed painters we consulted estimated that only about 10% ($1,000) of the work had been completed by Brian. He eventually agreed to refund the $4,000 deposit, but after multiple deadline extensions has only returned $1,300 and has now stopped communicating altogether. We are now pursuing recovery through court and filing a complaint with the Regulated Industries Complaints Office (RICO), which takes enforcement action against unlicensed contractors operating illegally in Hawaii. We also had prior issues with a smaller job he completed in 2023, including use of lower-grade paint than what we paid for and paint splatter left on appliances. Despite this, we gave him another opportunity when he repeatedly requested the exterior project. We greatly regret that decision now. Bottom line: We strongly recommend homeowners to look elsewhere.

The first impression I had of Brian was good. He listened to what I wanted to have done and did the detail work and used the paint products I requested. The job went smoothly within the time frame that he told us and all metal areas of our house exterior were primed as requested as well as a whole house wood primer and two finish coats on top of that. His respectfulness and attention to detail was impressive. His price was within range of two of the other five quotes and was reasonable. Brian is a Licensed Painter in good standing with the State of Hawaii with no complaints outstanding. Brian also has Liability Insurance. As a former Contractor I knew that I wanted a Licensed Contractor and I was not disappointed with Brian's work. Our house looks beautiful and we are very satisfied. If you are looking for a painter, check McBride Painting out as I believe that you will not be disappointed in hiring this company.

Roger was a great asset, he had recommended a nice off white color and discussed their process, to include all holes filled, walls prepped and primer, the works. We agreed and they came on Saturday on time, as scheduled (a few minutes early) and immediately got started. We came by later in the afternoon and they (Roger and Eddie) were well underway, excellent. We were called about 3pm on Sunday all completed! Perfect color, perfect job top to bottom, they moved the washer and dryer out and put everything back the way it was, actually they even checked out the hoses and such. The bottom line after all said and done? The polite, prompt, and accurate customer service, the professionalism, and the quality of work, the fact they took extra steps not even within the scope, you could only dream of ALL other contractors would give the same. To Jeff, Roger, and Eddie, thank you very much. Awesomeness all around, (thank you as well Tricia for the prompt correspondence).

I was also under time constraints to get the job done quickly to qualify for my new homeowner's insurance policy. Roger came out and did a thorough inspection of the home and explained how the process would go and answered all of my questions about points of concern I had around the house, and made me feel very comfortable with the project. Tricia and Jeff were able to answer any additional queries I had by phone or email in a timely manner. Luckily, due to my need to have the job done asap, Jeff said he'd be able to fit me in just a month later. There was a slight delay to starting the job at my house due to weather, but Tricia kept me up to date along the way and it wasn't long before Roger and his crew were showing up to get the job underway. Roger and his paint crew were on site early every day, and worked tirelessly from 7:00-3:00 nonstop for 7 days. I left drinks for them in a cooler but I really don't know if these guys took a break, they just busted butt all day long. On the first day they pressure washed the whole house to remove dirt and debris. Over the course of the next four days they slaved away getting the home ready for a new finish. The amount of prep work my house needed was overwhelming and they cut no corners in removing the old tired paint and doing minor repairs to weather damaged surfaces here and there until they had a bare smooth canvas to work with. After the whole house was primed it took another two days to lay two coats of Sherwin Williams Duration down on the whole house and finish the trim work, and the end result is nothing short of amazing. My nearly 50 year old home looks brand new. The amount of pride Roger and his crew take in their work showed through in the finished product and its perfection all around. They always showed up early and worked right til the end, and left every day having cleaned up and put things away. They were always happy and friendly. Before the job was completed Roger made sure I was perfectly happy with everything and that they left me 100% satisfied. I can say with certainty that hiring Platinum Painting Service for this project was money well spent, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to have someone repaint their home.

After looking at and watching it get worse we decided we needed to get it fixed. It's a 1000 square foot garage sitting under a 2 bedroom 1 bath addition to our house we built about 20 years ago, so we knew it would be a pretty big job. So, of course, we went to Yelp. Of the many drywall companies listed, one caught my attention, Always Local Drywall and Plaster. They actually only had one review, it was 5 star, but I liked the photographs of their work, So I gave them a call. The owner, Pohai Williams, agreed to come over the next day and take a look at our garage. As promised, Pohai came over and explained what needed to be done, and I decided to give his company a chance. The next day he emailed me an estimate, detailing everything that they would be doing and how long it would take. I accepted the estimate and two days later Pohai and a helper started the job. They were meticulous. They covered the garage floor and anything else we couldn't move to protect against the inevitable drywall dust and uncovered everything at the end of each day so we could continue to use our garage. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here are photos of our ceiling before and after Pohai and his helper finished.

Pohai arrived a few days later and prepped the site well. He taped off the carpeted floor and several wall sections before working, and he completed the job in two days by himself.
