Our favorite place for takeout Chinese in Sparks area. Their meat is consistently tender and not chewy. The potstickers and the crab cheese wontons are a family favorite. We also enjoy the curry dishes (which came last time in a container to prevent sauce spillage! Much appreciated!) and the pork chow main or Szechuan beef. We have been disappointed a few times realizing they are closed on a Monday . One downside is this is a treat, as the prices are quite high for Chinese takeout. read more

Another of our favorite restaurants in Sparks. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the service is extremely attentive. The food is always hot (as in, will remove fingerprints and sear your tongue when it first comes out). My favorite dish is the Singapore Street Noodles. This is a great dish, but very easy to wind up with noodles soaking in a pool of curry-flavored grease. Not here. The noodles are cooked perfectly with the right amount of curry. The pork is liberally dusted with five spice seasoning, the shrimp are large and tender, and the vegetables are crunchy. In short, one of the best bowls of noodles inn town. The Boss loves the General's Chicken which is large pieces of chicken with a very light batter glazed with a sweet and spicy sauce. It's really good paired with the house fried rice. The last couple of times I've had a head cold, I grabbed dinner hit and sour soup here and I was good to go. It's just solid Asian comfort food. Like everything, the prices here have increased lately, but I'm happy to write the portions are still nice and big. read more

Another local place, that we try to support. FP is one of our favorite locations for lunch, as we enjoy their lunch menu. We do order for dinner from time to time, but over the years their prices keep going up, so we limit the dinner purchases. We have not had any issues with their service, in fact I would say that it is usually good. Everyone is friendly and helpful! I am Kung Pelled to tell you this is one of the best restaurants in town! The service is outstanding, food is delicious and they have reasonably priced drinks. We have gone here for both dine in and take out and have loved every experience. Another great meal at Fortune Palace. The owner Sharon and all her staff were excellent service. The many different meals and drinks were soooo good. My favorite was the beef skewers, the flavor was awesome. The walnut shrimp was also one of my favorites. The Mongolian beef and shrimp fried rice was also very good. Another favorite was the fried wings and lettuce wraps. Sake and Mai Tai's were perfect for drinks for enjoying our delicious meal. We highly recommend trying Fortune Palace. I hadn't been to this place in several months but their new FB page reminded me of how much I love their food. This time I got my usual and ordered cashew chicken and bbq pork chowmein, with a side of white rice. Both dishes had the same great taste me I've always experienced by this family owned business located on Disc/Sparks Blvd in Sparks, NV The restaurant gets busy at lunchtime since they open at 11am and although I didn't eat inside I did notice they gave the place a facelift with new tablecloths and Asian decor. They're great about holding my order because I drive in from North Reno and my food is always fresh and hot. The staff is friendly, quick to greet you and always accommodating with sauces and fortune cookies in your order. Well worth my drive for the quality of food I received. read more

I actually thought this place was a different place, and way closer to where I live. When I looked up where it was, it was surprising. So I drove to the other side of town, kind of like on an adventure. My order was ready when I arrived 20 minutes later. Anyways, I ordered the crispy beef lunch special with fried rice, and an order of pot stickers. I also ordered an ice tea and the lunch special comes with a peanut sauce salad. The salad was nice, fresh and the sauce was good. It wasnt tart, it was a bit sweet and thats how I prefer it. The crispy beef was something else! I really liked how it was crispy and the sauce was salty and tart, with sweetness too! Very good, I liked the combination. The fried rice was fresh, which is always a plus. The pot stickers were nice, and cooked perfectly. The sauce for it was salty and I loved it! Not too vinegary. Would recommend to anyone in the area. read more

I was a little skeptical.... Mom and I were on a girls trip to Reno; we're from the Bay Area. We were tired of American food and needed some rice in our lives. Coming from the Bay Area, culture is a lot bigger than in Sparks. "Where are we going to find good Chinese food?" I even asked a slot attendant, and she replied "oh I don't know of any good Chinese, but there's great pho across the street." Ohh man... Yelp we went and found Fortune Palace. Walked in around 11:30-12 on Sunday 7/30. My skeptics continued on what kind of Chinese food were getting. Seating was pretty open, and we were seated right away. Looking at the menu, and lunch was the way to go. An item with rice & choice of salad, hot sour soup, egg flower soup, oh & it came with an eggroll. Perfect; mom & I can each get a plate and share. Sweet & Sour Chicken Salad - the salad was good, but a the lettuce was floating in a lot of dressing. I like that they put the rice on the side and not below the protein. The chicken was still crispy, and nice tang to the sweet & sour. The eggroll was basic, just an eggroll. Mongolian Beef Salad - beef was nice and tender, with great flavor. I would've likes it a little bit spicier, but it was perfect for mom. Mom was craving some chicken chow mein, but not just any chow mein noodle. It had to be Hong Kong noodles (skinny). We asked the waiter and he confirmed that they can make it at an additional charge. No problem, we don't care about the cost, just as long as it's good, and it was!!! Had a little chuckle with the waiter that we were really nervous. He said that he doesn't eat Asian food anywhere but there, ha! All in all it was great. What a mixed bag. First impressions - nice looking place! Clean, smells nice, building doesn't have any dilapidation. Very well put together establishment. Our table was nice, clean, well set. So far so good. Then there's the food. On one hand - some of the best appetizers I've ever had. The vegitable egg rolls (two of them) were PERFECT.... wrapped tightly, full of fresh veggies that snapped pleasantly when biting through, and PERFECTLY seasoned. Didn't need sauce of any kind. Wow. I'd order a whole plate of these any day! The crab cheese Rangoons (two of them), same thing. PERFECTLY cooked and shaped and filled. Great stuff. But, my wife's cashew chicken? No. Just no. The chicken was.... Off. The texture and flavor was akin to - as my wife put it - dog food. I thought she was exaggerating, so I tried some. It really did taste and chew like something you'd find at the dollar store discount bin....We asked two other people at the table what they thought, and they too said the same thing. Eww. The veggies were fine, but the chicken ruined the whole dish. But then, MY dish - crunchy chicken (which is just sweet and sour chicken, but spicy) was fantastic. Great flavor, texture, nice kick to it. I asked for some extra chili sauce and they brought some out. Loved this stuff. It has bits of pineapple and carrots in it. Yummy! Then the egg flour soup. Fine. Meh. Not bad, just bland. Needed salt. The wait staff was pleasant, polite, and attentive. Yay! When I reported the problem with the chicken, (which was hardly touched - 80% of the plate was still there, and I asked them to take it back) we were blamed for not liking it! "That's just the kind of chicken it is, it comes pre marinaded. Don't order it next time. Or the almond chicken - it's the same stuff. Sorry." Boo! We also got egg fried rice - steamed is standard here, meaning fried rice is an upcharge - it was ok. Not bad. Not the best I've ever had. Just alright. Sparse, no or very little veggies in it. Just rice, egg, and some kinda sauce. My wife and I got the Cantonese dinner for two, which came with everything listed above. It was labeled as $24 a person, but our bill ended up being $70 for the two of us. Rice upcharge, one soda (I had water) and a tip. All in all, would I go back? I dont know. It was really expensive for what you got. They charge you like PF Chang's, give you portion sizes like panda express, and when the food isn't good? Oh well.... Don't order that next time. But the egg rolls and Rangoons and crispy chicken WERE really good... I'm torn.. 3 out of 5 stars. read more

We received a gift card to this place and left completely in love with the food and service. We ordered the Cantonese dinner for two and everything was delicious. The server checked on us constantly for water drinks and just to make sure everything was OK she went above and beyond to make our first experience at Fortune Palace. Fortune Palace is an excellent choice for Chinese food in Sparks. The restaurant is spacious and inviting. I've visited Fortune Palace several times and have found that their food is great tasting as well as authentic, and the service we receive is always exceptional. The staff is friendly and handle your requests courteously and professionally. I especially like the house chow mien because it has all my favorite meats, and the noodles have that authentic taste and texture which has sadly diminished in Chinese restaurants in our area. The beef, chicken, and shrimp in my order were tender and juicy. Their menu has a broad selection of Chinese dishes from which to choose, and so far, those that I have chosen have not disappointed. read more

Fortune Palace failed to hit the spot. We ordered the "Fortune Palace Dinner" the more expensive of the two "Special Dinners" It comes with steamed rice, Wor Wonton Soup, Appetizers with consisted of Egg Rolls and BBQ Pork, and a choice of entree of which we chose Crispy Shrimp and House Egg Foo Young. The appetizers were a disappointment, mainly because of their lack of them. When visiting a Chinese restaurant it has been my experience that when you order the grander of the all inclusive family style dinners they roll out the appetizers often with three or four different items. We only received the obligatory Egg Rolls and a few slices of BBQ pork. They were O.K. but nothing to write home about. Granted the menu made us aware of what we were going to get, but it was still a disappointment. The next course was the Wor Wonton Soup. Usually this dish is overflowing with chicken, shrimp, vegetables, mushrooms, and of course Wonton's in a savory broth. There was hardly any chicken in the soup, the vegetables consisted of a few slices of carrot, each of us got a shrimp which is customary and there were a few Wonton's. However the broth was far from savory. It didn't make it to my top ten list of favorite Wor Wonton Soups. The soup is often what makes a Chinese Restaurant for me. Now to the Entree's! The House Egg Foo Young consisted of two frozen hamburger shaped patties. It wouldn't surprise me if they patties were in fact some frozen egg patties that they simply tossed into some hot oil. And the patties only had an egg like consistency. There weren't any vegetable rolled into the mixture which is customary. The sauce did have the house meats in it, shrimp, chicken, pork and vegetables, but it was merely average as well. The Crispy Shrimp on the other hand was the star of the evening, it was battered shrimp in a spicy tangerine sauce. I must say they were tasty. The service was also excellent. All the young men at the front of the house made us feel at home and welcome. Unfortunately I felt like we were paying for the atmosphere in the restaurant as opposed to good inspired Chinese cuisine. There are definitely better places to go in Sparks and Reno. read more

Fortune palace is in a convenient location in Sparks and the service is always excellent! The food is just basic Chinese food. Nothing amazing, but it's always good and satisfying. My favorite is the spicy, crispy Beef. It's not too spicy to eat, but has a vinegary tang that I enjoy. I'd say skip the fried rice and just get plain white because they taste pretty much the same. This is usually my number once choice for Chinese food in this part of Sparks and there are a few other places to choose from. read more

We asked another server and she went back to the girl and presumably lectured her. So when the initial waitress came back she rudely shoved the cup in his face and walked away. The place is clean and relatively quiet. Booths are comfortable. Lighting is slightly reduced and on the warmer side which is great when it's night. Service is excellent and with good attitude. The food is good, basic, Chinese, nothing too fancy or unusual but also nothing ever wrong either. I've been here many times and it is consistent. There is a bar but I don't drink when out. This is a quiet, well-run Asian restaurant. It has a fairly comprehensive menu of all your favorites, but not so vast that the quality goes out the window. The last time I was there I had the Singapore Street Noodles. This is always a gamble in most places. It's way too easy to make them greasy, bland, mushy, flavorless, or, worse, extremely spicy to the point of being inedible. That wasn't the case at all. The noodles were tender, not mushy. The sauce was perfectly balanced. The vegetables were still pleasantly crispy. Best of all, the dish wasn't greasy in the slightest. In fact, the curry sauce was nicely soaked into all the ingredients. All in all, it was one of the best I've had in town. The service was cheerful, unobtrusive, and always on point. My drink glass was never empty and there was always plenty of condiments brought to the table for the appetizers. This is my favorite spot in East Sparks when I want a quiet place to enjoy great Asian food. read more
