Didn't feel like cooking tonight so I had this restaurant on my bucket list to try. Luckily when I ordered, I asked if they sprinkle any sesame seeds on top, so many places do this for show and takes away from the way it should be prepared, luckily this restaurant does not do this. I picked up that this is a proper Cantonese restaurant because they had white pepper on the table not black pepper as well as the obligatory soy sauce also on the table, lol. I was also greeted by who I must assume was an owner about what else I needed, I did ask for chili oil in case the dish was not spicy enough. The Singapore noodles came out quickly and hot which was great. The noodles themselves were not as dry as I would have liked but many restaurants seem to serve it this style but the salt level was higher than I prefer. The customary julienned bell peppers were not part of the way they stir fried this dish. All and all this was a fine dish they cooked. The only thing I missed was the customary hot tea you are greeted with which they charge for. In the future I would definitely let the restaurant know to be a little less heavy handed with the salt or soy sauce, which shouldn't be used, to season this dish.

We've dined at Fortune Palace a handful of times for lunch. The restaurant is spacious and has beautiful red booths which lends an upscale appearance. The waitstaff is friendly and check up on us regularly. The lunch menu has plenty to choose from. Dishes are very reasonably priced and have generous portions. I love that a small bowl of soup (the hot and sour soup is delicious) and an egg roll (veggie) comes with each lunch combo. On our most recent visit, we tried the eggplant with Szechuan sauce lunch combo and General chicken lunch combo. The eggplant dish was flavorful and wasn't oily. The General chicken had a great balance of sweetness and tanginess and still possessed that crispy crunch (as the chicken is deep-fried). And, the steamed rice was cooked nicely (not soggy or stuck together).

It was my first time there. The lady server was very friendly. She even gave me extra rice for it being my first time eating there. I ordered the Mongolian Beef. The food was delicious. The ambience there is very nice as well. I definitely recommend this place. Enjoy!

With the wind and allergy season raging outside, we sneaked out to have soup at the Palace. Our server, Maddie, was a jewel! Their Hot and Sour Soup is a remedy for a stuffy head. It is so richly flavored with fresh ingredients and lots of chicken. My wife opted for the Sizzling Rice Soup... so full of scallops, shrimp and veggies. A few potstickers were the perfect accompaniment to our soups! This place is always so quiet, comfortable and always kept spotless too!

The staff were kind and efficient. We had a group of 6 and were able to do the family style dining. It was my first time there. The crispy beef was my favorite. The lemon chicken was also tasty. Just chicken breast in a thick lemon sauce. Mongolian beef spice level was non existent. The Szechuan chicken was plain as well. The hot and sour and sour soup was delicious.

Shocked I haven't reviewed before! I adore their crab cheese wontons and hot and sour soup! Tonight I tried the Devine Pama Martini, except for driving I'd have had another! Typical Chinese restaurant decor and super friendly staff in a strip mall setting.

    Now that's a beautiful bar!

Fortune Palace is my favorite Chinese Food in Sparks. I am ordering a to go order for dinner. Egg Flower Soup, Special Chowmein, Egg fried rice and beef with broccoli. Thank you to Tan for always being so wonderful when I come in and order. If you come in and sit down, you will enjoy the beautiful piano music playing in the background and the authentic Chinese decor. A hidden gem in Sparks. Julie A

We don't go here often but should. The interior is very nice, inviting and always busy. Our order this time was for pick up. The quality of food is much better than some other Chinese restaurants down the road. Let me say as a family of five with a growing teen son, we ordered a normal amount. I almost fell off my chair when the total was read to me. I believe we spent about over $50 more than our regular place. That really disappointed me. Especially for Chinese. But the food was much better. So kudos. Rice didn't automatically come with a dinner. I didn't realize this until we opened the bags at home. The sweet and sour chicken was made with fluffy tender white chicken and wasn't soggy or over fried. The egg flower soup had lots of fresh flavor although the consistency was a bit gelatinous and thick and I would have preferred a thinner broth. The honey shrimp were big and fresh. No skimping there. The surprise of the night was the crispy beef. Great crispy flavor. My husband who doesn't typically order beef raved about it. Although I felt Fortune Palace was a fortune, it was worth it. I would feel better about the price by eating in the restaurant. It was way too much to spend for take out and no complimentary rice.

Really nice dining room. Dimly lit for date night or just for looking your best. The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious and there were plenty of veggie options to choose from, vegan and vegetarian friendly. The portions are generous and the ingredients were fresh. I'll definitely come back.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.

My fianceé told me about the Lemon chicken she tried for her first visit and how much she loved it! It's not her usual to to for the lunch specials, but she highly praises it. I am very happy to say that I do too now. The chicken was cooked perfectly and reminded me of chicken Katsu, light and crisp. It wasn't drenched in a gelatinous over lemony sauce either. Everything was light and refreshing, if you love lemon I suggest asking for a couple more wedges. I can't wait to have it again very soon. The entire time we were there which was about 45 minutes there were hardly any other customers for a Friday I thought it would be much more busy around lunch time. The dim sum stood out and ended up being the highlight of the meal. The main dishes were less consistent. The calamari felt heavy with breading, and the pot stickers, while flavorful, didn't quite hit the mark. The fried rice and duck were both on the salty side. Traditional Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine IMO, is difficult to find here compared to the Bay Area. But that's not the fault of Reno, it's just the number of asian restaurants are so much fewer here and all the produce is literally imported. My goto when checking out a chinese restaurant is their chow fun noodles. Why? The noodles are perishable and if frozen the texture becomes a bit mushy, not firm. Was the noodle fresh, yes but with the cavet that it was probably imported day or two earlier. There are no local noodle makers in Reno. The dish was prepared in traditionally with a slight twist. Garlic, lots of minced garlic. Not complaining, as this is unusual for chow fun noodles to get amost a fourth of a garlic bulb worth. I ordered the mixed protein version with chicken, pork, and beef. There was a slight sweetness to the dish, which I am atributing it to sugar. Which again is unusual but a welcome addition like the garlic. The filling was a little bit sweet, and a little bit savory, and the shell was well fried, crispy, and not oily at all. They were offering a BOGO on the combination plate, and so that's what I went for. I had the garlic chicken, and the chicken with seasonal. Veggies. On both dishes, the chicken was moist and tender. The veggies were done well. Just the right consistency, not mushy at all. The taste was great. The only thing I could say, was, the garlic chicken was a bit spicy. About medium on what I like for spice, you could definitely see the red pepper flakes on that food. Unfortunately, nowhere in the menu did it mention the spicy part of it. I did like it, and the spice was within what I like, but I think the next time I would order something else. The fried rice was very well done with a good flavor also. It was just the rice. It had no egg or veggies in it. I had enough for two meals on the first combo, and the second one went into my portable cooler, and is going home to Sacramento with me. For all I got, the price was extremely reasonable, even if I would've gotten only one combination. Thank you very much.
