Honestly my favorite cafe in the area because it's so girl coded and the drinks are amazing. This cafe is spacious and the seasonal menu always updates with new drinks. They have two different matcha grades to choose from and I always "forest it" so it comes with maple syrup and cinnamon. The matcha is strong and I love the overall vibe in this store. There is usually a line but the line moves quickly. They also have an adorable stamp card and I always visit whenever i'm in the area.
This cafe with floor to ceiling windows on a tree filled side street has my heart!! It's such an inviting space to meet with friends and they have a unique selection of food and drinks that has never let me down. Last time I tried their black sesame matcha which was so yummy. I always look forward to the new flavors they come up with which are really crafted with care. They're also one of the few cafes ive seen which offer hojicha- a tea which tastes more nutty and caramel-y. Forest cafe has definitely grown in popularity over the years, so the last few times ive been here it was packed to the brim. Still, the service hasn't suffered at all and they get through customers at a fast pace. I really admire the unwavering attention to detail and upkeep that is put into all aspects of this cafe, from the artful posters and signage, to the new flavors, to the space itself - these things make it such a wonderful gathering place for the community!!
Solid WFH cafe! The drinks were tasty I got the ube latte and it was a perfect balance of sweet and coffee. There are outlets and bathrooms. The ambiance is great and the service is very quick!! Great to get work done or chat with a friend.
A slight walk, further from Austin street, is totally worth it. Unique selections and a comfortable indoor space with books for reading. The line was fairly long for a Sunday afternoon! I got the pistachio hojiacha latte, while my friend got the black sesame latte. Personally, i would stick to a standard hojicha but I do enjoy a daring combo. Overall an enjoyable experience.
One of me and my husband's favorite spots in Queens! Their banana latte is a must-try There's always a line on the weekends, but it's definitely worth the wait. Always a good experience!
I loved the vibe of this spot, it is so cute with lots of natural light & the items on the menu all sound good. They have a list of year round items & a couple rotating seasonal lattes that you'll have to wait to see on their wall as well. However, It gets extremely busy there -- so if you're wanting to sit and chit chat with a friend, you might find yourself sitting outside or constantly checking for a chair because it gets busyyyyy in here on weekdays despite the abundant seating, while I do love a little coffee & study session, it really sucked that nearly all of the tables inside were taken by customers with laptops! Perhaps it's better on weekends as they have signs that implement no laptops on weekends. Anyways, onto the orders... My sister and I ordered off the seasonal menu and tried the Strawberry latte, Pistachio latte and a Pistachio Waffle. Unfortunately, I just felt like neither of the lattes were really lived up to the hype. The strawberry latte is literally just strawberry jam layered with milk and a shot of espresso & the pistachio drink was not very sweet or pistachio flavor forward, it had a bit of a nutty taste towards the end, but honestly just tasted a majority like milk. I definitely think it could benefit from more pistachio flavoring or some pistachio cream smeared on the side of the cup. Also, not sure if they use two different roasts for the drinks, but the strawberry tastes much more burnt than the other. The pistachio waffle was probably the best part, but even then, you cannot really mess up on a waffle that is smeared with pistachio butter. Not sure if it is house made though. I didn't like it, but my sister really likes this place, so it is definitely a matter of opinions. I would definitely recommend stopping by & trying it out yourself!
Forest Cafe opened in late 2022 and instantly blew up, clearly filling a demand for a hip minimalist coffee shop in Forest Hills and appearing on many "Best Coffee Shops in NY" lists. But is it worth the hype? Eh. For one, it's very popular. No matter the time of day, expect to wait on a line just to order. Seats and tables are rarely available, so be prepared to hover until someone gets up. That's understandable given it's pretty much the only place of its kind in the neighborhood, but it doesn't exactly make for a relaxing experience. I've tried several of their lattes (ube, pandan, cherry blossom, hojicha) and while they've all been good, none have really stood out. The flavors have been extremely subtle, to the point where they're hard to taste. I'm not asking for overly sweet drinks or artificial flavors, but there are other coffee shops in Queens that make a much better ube latte, for example. I tried the food once, ordering the pistachio croffle. It sounded and looked good, but unfortunately tasted stale. I was excited when Forest Cafe first opened, but I've only been back a handful of times since. I just don't find myself craving or returning to their drinks the way I do with other coffee shops.
Cute cafe, however can get pretty crowded during midday. I got their pistachio latte with espresso base and asked them to make it less sweet which they did, it tasted great! They also have a selection of desserts like croffles and cookies. They do have a bathroom as well which is always good to know. The girl at the register recommended the pandan latte to me so that's what I'll be trying next.
Brown Butter Banana (Kago) Matcha Latte - 10/10! The banana flavor really complements the rest of the drink well and doesn't feel too sweet either. Line was almost to the door when I came in Sunday afternoon but they move fastttt - definitely looked more of a wait than it was! Looking forward to trying more specialty drinks
My favorite indie cafe in the Forest Hills area. They make their matcha the traditional way with a whisk, and they offer an option of Kagoshima or Horii matcha, so you know it's legit. The only downside is maybe the lines can get pretty long over weekends and there might be a wait of 10-15 mins during peak times. They also charge extra for oat and plant milk, on top of already pricey matcha, so a matcha latte can easily be over $8 after tax.
Seasonal drinks are fun. The fall menu has some great flavors, like a banana latte, biscoff latte, and biscoff cold foam top. What sets Forest Cafe apart is the versatility of what you use in your base for all lattes: matcha, espresso, or hojicha. Forest Cafe meets the common challenge of seasonal lattes, which is executing on the actual flavor. The ratios are prominent enough for the ships to come through. Be ready for long lines that go out the store on weekends.
Forest cafe is a little hidden cafe and it is a bit out of the way but is worth it. The matcha latte is top notch, you can definitely taste the love that goes into it. The earl grey chocolate chip cookie is a nice treat and the taste of earl grey is mild so it's not overwhelming. There is a line of people usually waiting so try to get there before closing or early on. There is some seats if you want to sit down to eat or want to work remotely. They only allow you to sit with your laptop during the weekdays not on the weekend so keep that in mind.
This neighborhood cafe has excellent service and ample space to relax and enjoy a good cup of joe. My favorite beverage so far has been their Dirty Chai Latte, which was a great combination. Haven't had the chance to try any of their food, but the drinks are very good overall. Only thing better is the friendly and gracious service.
A very cute cafe situated on the more residential side of Forest Hills. The location is only a short walk from Austin St, but just enough if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of it. Parking in the area is also relatively easier. I hardly come to Forest Hills, but decided I wanted to pop in because I've heard a lot of good things about Forest Cafe. Upon entering, there was something calming about the cafe even though they were busy. The interior space is simple, clean and won't deviate you from a pleasant cafe experience. I noticed that all the tables were taken with people doing work, so probably better to get there earlier if you want to snag a table. Despite it being busy, they were pretty fast and efficient with their service. I got my order almost in an instant! I'm pretty caffeine sensitive, so I try to avoid caffeine by noon. Luckily they had some caffeine-free beverages like the ube latte. You can always add a shot of espresso and make it "dirty" if you need that kick. I liked how they were thorough and detailed with your order to make sure it was tailored to your own preference. The ube latte honestly might be one of the best ube lattes I've ever had! Sometimes cafes are a little more stingy with the ube flavoring, but it was nutty, aromatic and really enjoyable for me. I heard their forest latte and hojicha latte is pretty good too. Maybe I'll get around to trying it another time! read more

Came in on a Friday afternoon mainly because I needed to charge my phone, but I'm so happy I found this gem! It was very busy, do I would take that into consideration if you're going with a group of friends. As a solo person, it wasn't bad finding a spot to sit. I ordered the forest spice latte and it was definitely yummy. The barista was so nice. The vibes of the cafe were so cute and immaculate. They did also have wifi, but I will say that it was pretty slow and that I ended up just having to use a hot spot. read more

Cute little cafe in a quiet area of Forest Hills. The cafe is very small so there was no place inside for us to sit inside. Most people were sitting there using their computers. There were two benches outside so we sat there and drank our coffee. The cashiers were very nice and explained everything to us. My husband got a Cold Brew and I got a hojicha latte. I had never had one before. It was amazing, it's basically a lighter less caffeinated version of a matcha latte. My husband latte was also amazing. The coffee they used had a great flavor. He added lavender to it. They had multiple flavored syrups and one they make at house with cinnamon and maple it was delicious and added it to my latte. We also had a matcha chia pudding which was really good too, a little on the sweet side because it had fruit on top. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo of it. I will definitely be back. read more
What a lovely addition to Forest Hills. Such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff is so friendly and helps you navigate the menu and I learned that an Ube latte has no espresso, so order it dirty if you want espresso. The Dirty Ube Latte is really delicious, a little sweetness brings out the flavor of the Ube (another thing I learned). The quality of the coffee itself is wonderful and has such great flavor. Awesome staff and coffee. read more

Favorite place for my partner and I to visit with our dog on weekend mornings. They have a permanent menu of classic coffee drinks like regular latte or americano, as well as special drinks like the forest latte, iced shakerato, and ube latte, among others. Additionally, they have a fun seasonal menu that always surprises us with delicious and unique items, like Pandan lattes in the spring, or marshmallow cream foam add-ones in the winter. They always post their seasonal goodies on Insta, as well as any updates to their hours. On weekdays, folks like to work here, but on weekends most tables are "no work zones," meant to foster a more social and laid back atmosphere for the weekend. There's usually a line but even the longest lines I've stood on have gone by super quickly because the staff is super speedy and efficient. They also have benches outside, so we like to sit there with our pup and enjoy our food and drinks while people watching. Our summer go-to order: homemade iced tea and Gochujang tamago sandwich (his); passion fruit matcha with blueberry-basil tonic and spicy tuna kimbap (LOVE that they have Kimbap since the next closest place to get it is basically Flushing) read more
Great additon to the neighborhood. Forest Hills needs a great coffee shop like this. Well decorated, great ambiance, and wonderful service. It's a great spot to meet up with a friend or have some work done while having your cup of Joe. The stand out was the forest hills and the mocha coffee. Iced or hot they were a wonderful strong good cup of coffee. Pick up a croffle as well. Tasty with a crunch sweet outside and chewy outside. A waffle croissant. Can't go wrong with the original or the pistachio which were my favorites. It's a go to place that i'll be back at. read more

You know how you filter food by cuisine? Well they should have a filter for cafes with specialty lattes. Seriously, as someone who tries to minimize caffeine, this is a great place to get teas and lattes without worrying about intaking too much caffeine. The ube latte doesn't come with caffeine unless you ask to add espresso in it. And the hojicha and matcha are great tea options that won't make you jittery. I came to Forest Cafe with my partner and got an unsweetened Hojicha oatmilk latte which was pleasantly earthy, smoky, and balanced. My partner got an ube oatmilk latte without espresso lightly sweetened with maple syrup and it was so flavorful and creamy. The green tea chia seed pudding and parfait are also great premade breakfast snacks. You can grab them to go or sit down and enjoy at your leisure. Both the pudding and parfait aren't too sweet and the green tea and strawberry flavors work well together. If you want some contrasting textures, go for the parfait which is topped with granola. The cafe itself is a comfortable place to sit and work with your laptop. There is more than enough natural light in addition to indoor lighting to look over physical documents as well. The baristas are also friendly and chill (pretty sure no one is going to kick you out for working in a cafe if you buy something). Overall, Forest Cafe is a good Forest Hills find. read more

We were so excited that there is a cozy spot with adorable decor like Forest Cafe opening up in the neighborhood since it's hard to get a decent coffee except for chained brands here. The staff was pretty friendly and attentive when we stepped in on a Saturday morning. We got their Ube Latte and Hojicha Latte to try. It's pretty good, especially the hojicha latte, which was light and smooth. We were a little disappointed about their food options now with only 4 flavors of Croffle. Hope they will have more pastries or breakfast plates in the future. read more

It's been a long time coming but our prayers have finally been answered! HALLELUJAH!!! Forest Hills has been needing a cafe and Forest Cafe is everything and more than I could ask for. DRINKS: I got the Forest Latte (their signature drink) while my boyfriend got the Dirty Hojicha. I am ashamed to say that I DOWNED my drink within 5 minutes and had to negotiate with my boyfriend to drink some of HIS Dirty Hojicha. They were Just. That. Freaking. Amazing. I've had my fair share of bad espresso/coffee experiences in different cafes that I've ventured out to in NYC. Some cafes make their drinks a little bit too sweet, neglecting the main component of the drink which is the espresso. Other cafes do not pull their espresso right or do not steam their milk thoroughly which results in a very bitter, milky taste. For both drinks that I've tasted, the barista created the perfect balance of maintaining the espresso flavor while creating a mild sweetness from the milk and honey to enhance the overall lattes. If I could drink it over and over again, I would. It's dangerous. SPACE: The owners definitely have an eye for interior design because when you walk in, the cafe immediately evokes a sense of serenity. They went for a Japandi theme, marrying nature (with plants all around the establishment) and simplicity. Environment should be a priority when you're evaluating which cafes to go to and I'm glad they nailed it. They have created a space for me to be able to work (with outlets installed all around) or for me to be able to have an enjoyable coffee date experience. SERVICE: To tie it all together, the overall energy and vibe of the baristas/cashier makes me feel so welcomed. Their big smiles and the way they passionately make their drinks was such a treat in it of itself. I actually had the opportunity to chat with the owners of the cafe during their grand opening and I learned that it's a local family operation. I'll support them ALWAYS over the big chains! read more

SO SO happy to have a cute little coffee shop in this area. It gives off very chic, "Williamsburg" vibes. I don't have a job which allows for remote work but if I did, this is the place I would want to work out of. I really enjoyed their hojicha latte and my partner very much loved the Ube latte. I can't wait to be a returning customer and see what they add to the menu in the future! read more

Really cute and aesthetic coffee shop! My friend has been coming here ever since it opened, and she always says how great it is. It's a bit further from me, but I had to visit when I was in the area. They have a lot of fun options, but I got the iced pumpkin einspanner and matcha chia pudding. Both were delicious. The matcha chia pudding came with strawberries, which went really well with it. This seems like a great place you can bring your computer to and do work at while sipping on a coffee. Highly recommend! read more

Such a cute, instagrammable cafe in Forest Hills! Came here around 10AM and it was full of people working on laptops. Even though all the seats were taken, it didn't feel crowded because it's so spacious and airy. The staff is also so warm and welcoming! I got the ube latte - added 2 shots of espresso and sweetened - next time I'll try it without the shots because they overpowered the ube flavor. Will definitely come back to try the hojicha latte! Also got their croffles - I don't usually like croffles but these were actually good! There are crunchy flakes on top of the nutella one. read more

I had Ube latte with espresso shot and tried the iced ube as well. Not very strong on the ube flavor though. Drinks were ok. Had croffles with pistachio and white chocolate drizzle - 1 of 2 options, $6 each for 1/2 waffle. Not made-to-order and was a bit chewy and sweet for me. read more

Another Cafe Adventure in my neighborhood and I heard so much about this place from a few people on forest hills Fb group page. This is a perfect place to enjoy a good latte with or without a splash of espresso. I got myself a nutella Croffle & ube latte with oat milk. I didn't even need any sugar on my latte. It's super creamy and just the perfect amount of sweetness. But sadly it's a bit of a walk for me to get here. but if i was in the neighborhood YES I WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK!! I saw the a flyer saying a new spot opened in the neighborhood. Already liked the decor based on photos and decided to stop in. Upon opening the door, it's like you're entering a zen coffee spot. Soft, calm music humming and patrons on their laptop or reading. Loved the color theme and layout. There is a different type of seat for all. Favorite spot is the accent wall area - it's so charming. Service and staff are so friendly and welcoming. Love that they are locals and know the area. I ordered a croffle and ube latte. Drinks are customizable for sweetness and types of milk. Got mine lightly sweetened with regular milk. Lids and other items are to the side. Croffles were coming out hot and fresh. Their croffle is good and one of the better ones I've had compared to other spots. It's a good chew - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with just the right amount of sweetness. Love the glaze on top. I got one that was already inside the display case and it was still really fresh. Big welcome to the area! It's much needed to have something in the residential area without having to trek to Austin street. read more
Been coming here since opening and it's a place I like to treat myself to every now and then. The ambiance is always chill and peaceful, great place to do some work (except on weekends) or hang out. I always come back for their creative seasonal drinks! Sometimes they could be a hit or miss though, such as today when I tried their cherry blossom, I couldn't really drink at all and had to order something else. But usually their drinks are a hit and You got to appreciate the culinary attention that goes into all the menu items. read more

We were in the area for HITC music festival and my 14 yo daughter found this amazing coffee shop. Few minutes away from forest hills stadium. Cute place, super friendly staff and oh my such phenomenal coffee and treats!! Salted caramel lattes both hot and cold were some of the best I have had! And they have cruffles, something I've not heard of before / but they're a mix of waffles and croissants and we had the pistachio and white chocolate one and delish! Love this gem hidden behind the busy 71st continental area. The ube latte $5.50 was yum, soo pretty, creamy with whole milk, n tasted just like ube! The croffle (waffle + crossiant) approx $6 was sooo yum too with nutella & rice krispies topping. I went around 1pm on a thur and the pistachio croffle sold out. The staff are sooo freindly and nice. The ambiance is very nice, serene, clean, young wfh feel with tall ables filled with young people studying or working with few green plants and white background. The menu is small. Wish there were more snacks or desserts to chose from. But def want to return to try the pistachio croffle and hochito (aka roasted matcha) latte. Def a must stop for latte and croffle! read more

A cute cafe hidden in Forest Hills. A good place to study or just catch up with friends. The ube latte and croffles caught my attention. The ube latte was delicious, but a bit sweet (probably because I substituted maple syrup instead).Too bad the pistachio and nutella croffles were already sold out (~2pm?), but would probably come back to try them if I am around the neighborhood again. read more

What a delightful addition to the neighborhood! Came here right before opening on a Sunday and there was a healthy crowd waiting to come in. Plenty of seating to socialize with friends and family, do some work or reading, or simply enjoy some fresh Java. Upon the recommendation of a regular patron, I got the Forest Latte, which was a delicious concoction with maple syrup and cinnamon. Run, do not walk, to get one of these. I think this would make a wonderful spot for a book club! Can't wait to come back to try more coffee creations! read more

I had seen pictures of the cafe opening up nearby and after waking up early decided to walk over with a friend. The place is esthetically pleasing, neat, bright and clean. The soundtrack was chill and the fact one of my favorite frank ocean songs played while I was there brought a smile to my face. We ordered the forest latte and 2 waffles with Nutella. I don't remember how it was named on the menu but you can't really confuse it with another of the options. The waffles was tasty and a nice morning treat. The latte was good and not too sweet, the maple syrup gave it a nice taste. We hung out for a while and there were multiple people who came in during the time. Happy to see other from the neighborhood coming to get a tasty treat in the morning. Those behind the counter well nice and informative as I asked about some of their other drinks. I look forward to returning. read more

Do yourself a favor and come to Forest Cafe! Not only are the drinks and croffles soooo delicious, the ambience and staff are amazing as well. Being that this is a family owned business, you can just feel the absolute joy of the staff who take pride in their products and business. The decor is very mimimalistic and Scandinavian inspired - so you will feel at peace and tranquil right when you step in, along with their amazing playlists playing quietly in the background. The drinks are expertly made by the talented baristas; my favorites being the Hojicha latte and Forest Latte. They are also adding new seasonal drinks to their menu too!
