walked in looking for a black pair of bootcut jeans, left with a pair of black wide leg jeans. the service is okay, the workers are very pushy when it comes to shopping. they ask "oh what are you looking for" and then they find like items similar to them. they give you a fitting room and then they push more clothing onto you, fitting rooms have a small mirror so it basically forces you to go out and look at the mirrors outside of the fitting room. i needed the jeans for an event which got canceled, i went to return them and i was only given back $98 back in store credit! i needed that 98 dollars back in gas and turns out i just left with some stupid store credit. thanks for the store credit, but the clothing is so expensive. read more

This place is amazing. I am so happy we found it. I have a 16 year old daughter who needed a formal dress. Sadly my wife, her mother, passed away in September. We were going to go to the mall to look for a dress. I was feeling sorry for my daughter that she was going with me, and not going to have her mom's help dress shopping. We stopped downtown for coffee and happened upon For Elyse. I am so glad we decided to go in. The two young women working there gave my daughter the full on princess treatment. They showed her dozens of dresses, helped her try them on, gave her great advice, and paired the dress she eventually picked with shoes and a necklace. My daughter looked stunning with it all put together. It brought tears to my eyes. I am so thankful to Preslie and the other young woman whose name I didn't catch. read more

Every employee was so down to earth, friendly, and well was just being the hype girls we needed to boost our confidence while shopping. The best women's clothing boutique in downtown Chico. I love the clothes AND adore all the ladies who work and run this place. They have a wide range of options that can be dressed up or down or best suited for your personal style (which I did not have until now). Special shout-out to Erica! She has put together outfits I didn't know I needed, and had helped me select the right clothes for my body type and special event. But no matter who is in the shop, you will surely receive a warm welcome and top notch service and have lots of fun. On a side note, I feel compelled to write a disclaimer on their behalf. It really drives me crazy when people leave poor reviews due to return policies. Unfortunately, small boutiques like this one can't afford to to provide lengthy department store return options. Needless to say, at the time that I write this, it's a shame this business doesn't have 5 stars for the quality of their product and service. As humans, we tend to spend too much of our time and energy nitpicking and not taking responsibility for ourselves (like reading or asking about exchange policies). My hope is that more people will take a couple minutes of their day to drop a glowing review when they have a positive experience at a local shop who deserves more business (like this one) than only coming out of the woodwork on a bad day. I went with my future daughter in law to shop for engagement dresses and ended up being interested in a couple articles of clothing. The workers must work on commission because they just kept pushing more and more things to try on for both of us. It became overwhelming, but I found a jumper that I thought might match something that I had at home. When I returned home it was obvious that the greens were different, so I returned to the store to get my money refunded. (Yes, I had the original bag, tissue paper and receipt and it was one day later!) "Kenzie" was very rude to me and kept repeating that their policy is only store credit or exchange... I responded that I don't shop there and didn't know when I would use the store credit. She flatly refused to refund my money. I won't shop there again. This is just one reason why retail is dying. read more

I had a fabulous experience shopping at for Elyse downtown today! I came in looking for a dress for a wedding and Kenzie helped me out. I am so picky and yet from her amazing one on one service she was able to find me exactly what I was looking for. She even brought me a pair of heels so I could see what the full outfit would look like! She told me next time I was shopping for something I should set up a VIP apt where they could even serve me champagne and it would be no extra cost! This is the best boutique in Northern California.. My three girls have been coming here for years. Incredible prices and unique wear you don't find in your average store. The ladies working there are excellent in assisting you with items to try on. We saw Ally and Skylar who were there today, sort of like like a family reunion. My girls visit from school for the holidays and of course my wallet ends up there. I soon hope to be approved for preferred parking. BUYERS BEWARE! If you purchase anything from here please make sure you read the return and exchange policy! Last week I was in Chico for work and saw this cute store and thought I would stop in! I purchased 4 shirts and two pair of pants for over $200. The dressing rooms were filled and I couldn't wait as I needed to go to work. The nice lady helping me told me I had 14 days to return or exchange anything that didn't fit. I asked her twice are you sure I live in sacramento! She said yes just come back with the receipt! Well today I went in to do a return as the pants didn't fit. The lady asked "is there anything you want instead of returning?" I said no I just want to return them she goes "oh actually you can't just return them it's only store credit or exchange". She then said she didn't even know how to do a return and requested help. When I explained to the young lady helping her I wasn't told about exchange or store credit only and that I was told it was just a straight 14 day return policy she responds with "well it's on your receipt and here at this register" Well 1) I wasn't rang up by that register therefore I didn't see the sign 2) the lady who told me the return policy didn't state otherwise so I didn't think to read the fine print on my receipt! 3) when I just walked in you forgot that I can't do a straight return and had to ask for help so what makes you think I'm lying about what my original sales rep said? Maddie the sales manager didn't even have the courtesy to speak to my face and when you ask for the owner Amber Kierig information they say they don't have it! Clearly this locations is preying on the college demographic which is just pathetic and saddening. I'm in Chico quite frequently and clearly drove from Sacramento to Chico twice for this location which means I would have been a valued customer however now I will not. Im so thoroughly upset with the fact that I was spoken to as if I was liar and made this story up and the fact that a manager couldn't even have the respect to speak to me face to face! This location was featured in Chico's news and review as well as enjoy magazine I plan on contacting both of these after this review! And please note my mileage, gas, and time spent on this complaint is worth way more than the $85 of merchadise I tried to return! Update...owner commented 4 months after my experience saying sorry you didn't read your receipt or see the sign posted..first off you're 4 months late... and second off there was no sign posted thanks for assuming you know when you didn't reach out and you're correct I did find another boutique that is honest and values their customers. They don't have men's clothes so I can't even shop here, but going with my female friends and family members, I was able to feel their excitement and joy from looking over the awesome collection! Seriously, i feel like I heard multiple people excitedly reach for an item and gasp at how stylish and fun and well-priced the items are! But the other reason I wanted to review this place is the staff - they are amazing! The owner and manager are absolutely wonderful and seem to inspire a positive energy that radiates throughout all their staff to make me and everyone I saw enter feel helped and welcome every minute inside the store. read more

Ok, I had the most weird and uncomfortable experience at this store today, I just had to write a review. The sales associate followed me around the entire time. Every time I picked up an item, even before I decided to try it on, she was right there " let me take that for you"! Constantly asking me , "are you still ok?" Every where I turned she was either behind me or next to me pretending to straighten up the clothes racks but I know she was stalking me. I realized that she probably thought I was shoplifting (black girl, large purse). Hopefully that's not the case and she just wanted a sale. I have shopped at this store since the 7th grade- almost 10 years. This store always has GREAT stuff and exceptional customer service. My girl tonight was Ali and she was AWESOME. I love seeing her every time- but as I gave her things I liked- she found things similar that I would like! The store is below par with Lulu's and their prices are a little weary. If I was a Chico college student, a shirt that doesn't have a reasonable price for my pocket change in my wallet.....not a great idea. However, they carry a variety of clothes for a night out at a bar, party, or a big occassion. Like their competitor, they do have some really cute stuff for those that are into girly designs....a cluster of current styles, but cheap made knock offs. read more

Similar to what you would find at Forever 21 or H&M, only items vary in price and quality a great deal. While there were some cute, reasonably priced items at For Elyse, the combination of Madonna blasting on the stereo and the sea of tiny little bleach blonds with mini jean skirts on made me anxious so I had to leave. Not exactly a store that prides itself on customers "shopping experience." It feels empty in there. The place always feels "under construction." Tacky store decor. It is trashy and dumpy inside. Don't even bother. they love to rip off all the college students I'm just going to say it, this place is lame. They say they only order a few of each item so it's "exclusive" but I find that they have a lot of the same clothes as Artifax and Lulu*s. My biggest problem with this store is their pricing. A lot of times, my girlfriends and I have seen/purchased items at For Elyse that we later see at Lulu*s or other stores for like 5 - 10 bucks cheaper. Not cool! read more

Definitely my favorite store in Chico! There is so much to choose from so its impossible to walk out of there not finding something that you love. I really like that almost every top they have comes in like 3 other colors. The store is laid back and has a friendly vibe. Prices are so affordable! The staff is extremely helpful and just fun to talk too. They're all college aged girls with a ton of style, so I trust their opinion with fashion tips. Oh and i love how they put suggestions in your fitting room, but they're actually cute suggestions that are usually things i actually like instead of just throwing random things into the room like other stores do. Service sucks and the clothes doesn't last. They seem super helpful but they are just trying to make commissions. They claim the $15 earrings are hypoallergenic but they turn my ears green within a week. The flying monkey jeans that are $70+ have loose stitching which falls out within a couple washes. Absolutely love the clothes, but way to over-bearing with customer service and pushy sales. Any time I tried something on to show my friend I got a - "I loveee that on you, what do you think?", before I could even look in the mirror. It is not very genuine when you get told that with every thing you try on. There were 3 employees in the store and each one talked or asked me questions at least twice. If I needed help, I would ask. I was walking into for elyse and they were a little busy. I was coming in for a gift card that i thoight was going to be quick and easy. As I walked in nobody greeted me and I was not sure who workes there its very hard to tell because there is no uniform to distinguish between customers and workers. I waited in line for about 15 minutes and there was only two people ahead of me and it should not have taken that long to ring out. The girl at the register was wearing a green scarf blue top and white jeans and she was hardcore upselling and talking about how she wanted to go work out and not work. I thought she had a poor work ethic and it should not take that long to ring people up for a gift card. I could not tell who was running that place or even if they have manager. People dont want to her your life story at the register. Unfortunatly i took my business some where else.. read more

Do not buy from this store. First off cheap quality clothing store over priced. The customer service was very pushy trying to up sell you on every product they sell. My girlfriend left spending close to $1,000. She later didn't like everything she bought. She returned to store the following morning to return a few items and they would not let her return any of it for her money back. Only store credit. We only where returning $200 worth of clothes. The store manager at the time. Kelly i believe was very rude to us about there return policy and wouldn't give cash back on any of the products. Being a small business owner myself none of this made sense. If you had a possible return customer spending $1,000 and you couldn't return $200 to make a customer happy. We had to settle for what we had. We will not shop there anymore and just passing along our experience. read more
