I really liked how they categorized the vintage items, they were all grouped by theme, for example one was farm themed, one was glassware, one was florals, etc. There were some items made by local people which I loved. They also have these cool display tables that have similar products grouped together. The "robot table" is a delight. Vintage Hen is also part of Little Red Hen, which I'm sure some of you have seen around town, so it's for a good cause. They also sell their stuff online through an Etsy store. The staff is very knowledgeable about their stuff- both the product details of their goods, as well as the technical gemological information and its history. They're very welcoming about people dropping by to gawk at their beauties (a docent-led tour of their pretties, anyone?) as well as customers who are looking to purchase pretties for themselves or for others. The staff is patient about answering questions as well as generously providing technical information and history that they think will be of interest to their customers. They won't pressure you to buy. During my last visit, it so happened to be that they had a stunning aquamarine ring that I just had to get.. oops. (But not oops because even after a few days, I have zero buyer's remorse!) They have a flexible layaway plan for folks who may be tight on the budget. For jewelries that are of high value (likely $1000+) they provide appraisal. To resize a ring, they ask for a week's time and they charge exactly what their jeweler would charge them for resizing. Talk about a friendly and trustworthy store! I'd highly recommend folks swinging by downtown Chico to pay a visit to Country Squyres, whether it's for funsies or for a unique engagement ring shopping. p.s. Ohhhhhh this little thrift shop is one of my favs. It's eclectic, colorful, vibrant and VERY 80's…read more I feel like I've walked into a time warp every time I step in the front door. 80's were my absolute fav time in life so yeah, this store takes me there and I just love it :) The clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry and all the other random stuff around the shop will keep you in there for a while, there's so much to appreciate! They offer a trade for your clothes, you can bring in the clothes you're tired of, and they'll either give you a store credit or just pay you cash outright. Hint: You get more if you opt for the store credit, which I always do because I never leave without buying something, not kidding. They are super fair with the prices offered and the owner is soft spoken and kind (she's the person who goes through the clothes and gives you a price for payment or trade). They have a live DJ on Friday nights, perfect for getting your groove on while you shop! I am so happy I stumbled across this store, I found some one of a kind pieces that I love to wear.
