Not only is the service hands down the best I've had at a shoe store in Chico the selection is great! All of the clerks know the products and really seem to take pride in making it a great experience for their guests. We primarily went in for work boots for my honey but left with some shoes for me too! I was so excited to find black on black hoka's and have been wanting a pair for over a year but never found a color combo I liked in my size. Becks did not disappoint and my feet went home happy! My honey had been told about an amazing work boot - Danner's, they are American made and amazingly comfortable. Our sales lady (I don't remember her name I'm sorry!!!) was really great and even put insoles in so he could see the difference. She was so attentive and helpful and made our experience that much better! Not even a week later we had an issue with the sole and went back to see what could be done and they were so kind and accommodating and did everything they could to help us with an exchange. Neither of us were expecting much but walked out even happier than we were when we bought the shoes. Beck's is hands down a great hometown local shoe store and a place I would suggest to anyone who was looking for good shoes and great service. My husband and I went here a month ago because he was looking for a new pair of shoes. We both were so impressed by Rachel's kindness, knowledge and patience. We bought some shoes and left. When I was thinking of buying some shoes, I immediately thought of Rachel and Becks. It's a 90 min drive to Chico from Lake Almanor so we made a shopping day of it. We got to Beck's Shoes at 10:00 Am as Rachel opened the doors. I told her I was looking for a single pair of new sneakers. We looked around and I chose a couple to try on. She measured my feet and recommended an insert for my shoes that felt great. Bottom line is that I left the store with three pair of shoes with inserts. I knew she was upselling me every polite step of the way, but I was mesmerized by her natural talent and enjoyed the show. Keep up the excellent work Rachel, see you soon. read more

Went here to find shoes for my 80 year old dad who wears an AFO brace. Even though they didn't have anything they were extremely helpful in referring us to an orthopedics place that could design an AFO to work with more styles of shoes. Highly recommend Becks Shoes! read more

I went in to get a new pair of Birkenstocks and Patrick was extremely helpful! He sized my foot and had me go onto a machine to see exactly where I had more pressure and what insoles would work best for me. I was very picky and had him go to the back several times for other colors and sizes and he didn't make me feel like a bother for even a minute because of how picky I was being! I highly recommend and will absolutely be back! (They carry so much more than just shoes: diabetic socks, insoles, slippers, sandals, tennis shoes, nursing shoes, purses, heels, Uggs, and so much more. Through a combination of denial and random foot widening as I age I have been wearing progressively more uncomfortable shoes over the past year or so. I have tried and failed to find things that will work. Today I arrived at Becks with my frustration and the associate compassionately educated me about what I needed and helped me to find several pairs that work and even make me feel happy. They are full service. He measured my feet length width and arch/pressure. He searched for all the styles that I liked in what would work for me. The relief of finally having comfortable well fitted and stylish shoes is just fantastic. I couldn't recommend them more!! read more

I went in looking for some non-slips for my job, but not really knowing my shoe size! Patrick helped me all the way through the process- accurately figured out my measurements m and made the entire process extremely comforting. My wife has a new job and needed a pair of good waterproof shoes. We looked at the usual sports stores and became super frustrated. The stores had no helpful staff and supplies were limited. We went into Beck's Shoes and met Rachel and things turned around fast. She listened to what we needed and wanted. She gave us input and suggestions that were extremely helpful. Heck, we even saw a couple who we had seen at a couple of the stores prior there. Rachel listened to my wife about her hurting feet and put her on a machine that recommened a pair of insoles that would help her plantar ficiatius. We never got that at the other stores! As the other customers that we had seen at the other stores were leaving with their purchase, we both said, "We shoud've started here," and laughed. What a great Experience! In this day where Brick and Mortar stores are losing their place in retail, this store was the prime example customer service can differentiate. Then again, this store literally shows why these businesses fail in a short period of time. I walked into this store, because a nice salesperson at Fleet Feet told me that Beck's also has Hoka shoes. Fleet Feet was out of my size. As I walked in I asked the salesman if they had HOKAS. I saw the pair I wanted and asked if he matched prices with Fleet Feet because there was a $34 difference. He seemed annoyed that I would even ask but again they did not have my size at Fleet Feet and let it be. I tried on the shoes he brought me and be began the make comments on the current pair of HOKAS I was wearing because they were pretty worn out. The comments were not helping the person close a sale in any means but I did like the shoes and continued to try them out. Then he brought back up the "Price Match" issue and tried to ensue that I was lying and there is no way that there would be that big of a price difference. I was already over having to pay more for the shoes and I was trying on the size given to me, the salesperson should have just shut his mouth and closed the deal. The attitude that he had when I walked in the store, the comments regarding the condition of the pair of HOKAS I came in with and then making me out as a liar. I told him to call Fleet Feet on 2 occasions!!! Then telling me that the rain outside may wash off the dirt from my shoes was enough.... I still kept calm and smiled ... looked at the shoes and thought to myself... I like the shoes but I'm not buying them from this guy or this store. I won't take my wife and kids to this store. I won't refer anyone to this store and will have nothing good to tell anyone about Becks. Also, I found the same shoes for the same price of what Fleet Feet was selling them for, where the Beck's salesperson was so admittedly saying I was wrong and inferred that I was lying on ZAPPOS... I will still be a fan of Fleet Feet when I'm Chico but Beck's I hope you go bye bye... Customer Service differentiates .... read more

Maybe athletic shoes aren't there thing...not very engaging customer service, also didn't seem very knowledgeable. Also a huge turn off as they tried to sell me an insert before I even tried in shoes. I'd rather shop local, but only if customer service is worth it. Love my Hokas but they won't get my business again. read more

My feet are super hard to fit. I cringe when i need new shoes, knowing it will be a long and difficult experience to find anything. Rachel changed all that. She might be a shoe whisperer...she found me 2 pairs of great fitting shoes in under 20 minutes. Her attitude was friendly and supportive. I would've written this review sooner, but I've been busy... I've bought several pairs of shoes from this store (and Johnson's). They have a limited selection for my taste, but I've still managed to find shoes. In July of 2020 I purchased 2 pairs of Danskos. I bought one pair for home use (I love them) and one pair for work. I work in healthcare and needed a pair of quality flat sneakers because my Dansko clogs made me too tall and I am afraid of rolling my ankle. Anyway... the rubber toe bumper (?) became detached after 3 months of wear. I complained for about 2 weeks before calling the store to discuss an option for repair. When I called, I was told that the store doesn't honor any refunds, repairs or other options and I'd "have better luck contacting the company". I understand not doing any repairs, but I expect better customer service from a specialty store. The lady was unprofessional and seemed quick to hang up the phone. I have told others that I do not recommend this store and I have since purchased my shoes online rather than visiting this store again. Oh, they weren't respectful of the mask mandate when COVID-19 was in full swing. Those of us in healthcare bust our tails, risk our health and wear uncomfortable PPE to ensure the safety of others. read more

They were in the middle of a redo from Johnson's. They took time, asked questions as to the use of the shoes, brought out several different shoes for me to try, and used one of those "old time" shoe measuring device. Not cheap. Otherwise, I got what I paid for. read more

Crystal instantly provided a very warm and personal shopping experience with helping me purchase a properly fitting boot. She was very amazing in helping me select the proper foot inserts, which made my boots feels comfortable when the inserts distributed my weight more evenly. The difference was night and day especially to the previous boot place I went window shopping at. I left with a smile on my face and I'm not the type to really leave reviews.
