But my most recent trip was during peak lunchtime and it's always busy during the summertime. One thing I can count on here is a good burger to go, burgers, and fries. Combos are always good to catch on the way down to our condo. The cheese really stands out and the patties are seasoned well. This last visit my fries were absolutely phenomenal. I couldn't keep my hands off of them during the drive down Highway 59. The staff here is always very welcoming and helpful. I don't love the standout order takers, cause you can't really see the menu. Also drivers will cut in front of other drivers that have been waiting, and it's kind of chaos. Consistently great burger, definitely will come back and highly recommend.

We were at The Wharf in Orange Beach doing some shopping and hunting for a solid lunch spot that…read morewasn't a typical tourist-trap beach restaurant. We stumbled upon Bird Dog Chicken and it turned out to be a great find. The restaurant is locally owned, with friendly staff and a steady stream of locals coming in for both dine-in and takeout. We ordered three of the Four Piece Chicken Tender boxes. Two were rolled in their Louisiana Hot and one in the classic Hot Buffalo sauce. The traditional Buffalo was the clear winner for us -- the Louisiana Hot had a bit too much of the 'Louisiana' seasoning for our taste. That said, both sauces were excellent: hot enough to satisfy without being painful, and packed with great flavor. Included Ranch sauce was great too. The chicken tenders themselves were nicely sized (noticeably bigger than Raising Cane's) and came with a generous portion of lightly seasoned fries. Everything was fresh and crispy. Location-wise, it's super convenient -- easy to hop back on the road or head straight to the beach afterward. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Orange Beach! Highly recommend.

I have a few faves like the cheesy mushrooms and the BBQ shrimp, and nowadaya you can't just look at the regular menu. You have to check out their daily specials board because they are constantly knocking it out of the park with creative new dishes and fresh catches. The atmosphere is just even more welcoming, but the outdoor seating is much improved with some sand and stage, perfect for enjoying the coastal breeze. They updated their operating hours too, so they are now open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. Whether you want to escape the usual tourist trap seafood lines, watch a game on their big screens, or just grab a ice cold beer, or really strong drink, with friendly folks, this place just keeps getting better. If you haven't been by lately, you are seriously missing out. Highly recommended!!! 5/26/26

I haven't been to the Shrimp Basket in years ... but, I can remember when they were the only place…read morein Foley, Alabama, that actually served fried, boiled, or scampi shrimp served up in a plastic basket. They were very reasonably priced, their hushpuppies and coleslaw had tiny baby shrimps in it, and they served small new potatoes with your meal. They didn't complain about you needing to take leftovers home either, like many of the local restaurants do now. And, you could eat inside, as we always did, or you could eat outside on a umbrella table, in the 1000 degree humid heat temperature with all the bugs and mosquitos flying at you and getting into your food! We made so many memories there, together, that I will never forget. Take care and be safe. Patsy Walker Ronemous RN

After shopping, though, we were pretty hangry and decided to get one more good Gulf meal before heading home. We went to the Shrimp Basket in Foley, which we have gone to once before. I have to say, I believe this is one of the better Shrimp Basket locations. We were seated immediately, and our server was friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs perfectly. We had dined at the Gulf Shores location earlier in the week, and decided to get the same entrees. My wife ordered the Gulf Shrimp with tails on basket, and I ordered the Seafood Basket with the Gulf Shrimp with tails on added on. Both entrees are served with fries, coleslaw, corn fritters and hushpuppies. Both of our entrees were delicious and well prepared. The Gulf Shrimp with tails on is a must! Also, at this location, they have the Shrimp Basket hot sauce on the tables, and you can purchase a bottle for $10, which I did. It's definitely delicious! Overall, I must say this is one of the better Shrimp Basket locations. If you're hangry after a long day of shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall, I highly recommend visiting this Shrimp Basket location!

I became a fan a few years ago when one opening near my former home in Tennessee. Freddy's has become one of the fastest growing franchises in the US and only startee in 2002 with a single restaurant in Wichita, Kansas to more than 400 locations.  I'm not a real fast food junkie but when making a choice I always look at the numbers. For example all the combo meals at Freddy's all in the mid 700's for calories for double meat, fries and drink juxtaposed to McDonald's cheeseburger or Big Mac combos come in at 1,130 and 1,080 and the Burger King Whopper combo meal at 1210, and lastly the Wendy's Single combo is 1,070. There's a difference in fats and carbs that also favor the Freddy's combo as well, but it's still fast food.  The sandwiches feature: Hamburgers, Steakburgers, fried spicy & grilled chicken, and a  Veggie burger. The sides include Freddy Fries (thin shoestring), onion rings, cheese fries, cheese curds, potato chips and applesauce. BTW I really like the fries and that you can have their fry seasoning, fry sauces. (regular & jalapeno which you can also buy to go) They also have a great selection of frozen yogurt treats, as well as milkshakes and malts, root beer floats and some very good toppings.  On my first visit to this new location I got the Steakburger combo with cheese fries with a side of onion rings. They were all hot and fresh and brought me right back to my TN days with all the flavors I remember rushing back.  Bottom line: The staff here we're very welcoming and professional and the service, atmosphere, and food was very good. Highly recommended!!!

They used to come to each location marinating in this really spicy, flavorful coating that delivered some serious heat.... No more. Now they take their plain wings - which aren't bad wings, they just aren't really hot, which is what I was looking for. Nope, they aren't hot at all. Very, very disappointing. Also, it took so long to get my wings that the person who took my order offered me free food to make up for it. I declined, I have to watch my waistline!!
