This restaurant is a nice one right on Highway 59 in Foley. We stopped to get seafood on our way to the beach. We seated immediately upon entering the restaurant by a very nice and friendly hostess. Our server came to get our order briefly, explained the menu and gave us time to make a decision. The decor is typical of a seafood restaurant. There are plastic crabs on the wall, pictures of beaches and other sea life. The service is very friendly and fast. The food itself was presented well flavored well and very tasty. I ordered the grilled flounder which came with coleslaw hush puppies and two sides. My chosen sides were sweet potato fries, and broccoli. Everything tasted delicious and was not too salty. My friend ordered the seafood platter. All of her meal was fried and looked very good. My friend was disappointed because she visits every year and noticed that they had removed white fish from the menu. Last time I go to Shrimp Basket. We ordered online at 5:30 pm. Arrived at 6 and received food at 6:35pm. No one knew what was going on another customer left because it took more than 40 minutes to get their food. One of my sides was sweet potato fries and they gave me like 10 fries - are you kidding me? Evidently their work release staff had to leave early. So no cook works there. Unbelievable! Didn't offer me a discount either. It should have been free. If you are struggling- be honest and say it will be 30 minutes, or our cook staff left! Crappy place! It had been my deceased father's favorite spot in Foley. Gotten sorry. read more

If you're in the mood for friendly down to earth service, you found it. If you want pretentious, don't come. It's like your favorite dive bar. Couple TVs on, a bar near the kitchen, inside and outside seating. The food comes in a plastic basket. Don't forget dessert. The Key Lime pie tastes to me like the real deal, and the brownie bites are the real star here. They also have their own beer, brewed by Fairhope Brewing. Otherwise it's the mass distributors. I have eaten gumbo since a child when my grandmother would make a huge homemade pot of this delicious southern deliciousness- Shrimp baskets gumbo touched my soul with the dark roux seasonings and gravy like texture! Would I recommend shrimp basket? Yes, on a couple of conditions. I would not eat at the one at the beach. It's a total tourist trap. We ate at the Foley location today for their happy hour and their oyster special. Being used to New Orleans area seafood you can get kind of spoiled with prices and amount of food compared to other areas. We had two dozen oysters that were beautiful Louisiana oysters by the way. They were fresh and very tasty. We had the fried pickles and Yuengling beer all on happy hour. Our waitress was justice and she did a fabulous job very friendly welcoming knowledgeable very pleasant. This is a locally owned chain. My uncle loves this restaurant and wanted us to visit when we came in town. Lots of seafood options, the drink specials were pretty Amazing too. They have both inside and outside seating. We opted to eat outside. My grandma ordered a salad, my uncle the shrimp po boy, and I ordered the pineapple habanero wings with fries. This place has good food, and the servers are helpful and friendly, but this particular restaurant had two servers when there should've been at least four servers. The gumbo, etoufee, and other seafood was right on point, but the raw oysters were about as lethargic as any oysters I've ever seen. If you haven't been to Shrimp Basket Foley lately, try it again. We hadn't been in a while and new manager has really cleaned it up and the food was delicious.
