I haven't been to the Shrimp Basket in years ... but, I can remember when they were the only place in Foley, Alabama, that actually served fried, boiled, or scampi shrimp served up in a plastic basket. They were very reasonably priced, their hushpuppies and coleslaw had tiny baby shrimps in it, and they served small new potatoes with your meal. They didn't complain about you needing to take leftovers home either, like many of the local restaurants do now. And, you could eat inside, as we always did, or you could eat outside on a umbrella table, in the 1000 degree humid heat temperature with all the bugs and mosquitos flying at you and getting into your food! My wife and I were spending our check out day from Orange Beach in Foley at the Tanger Outlet Mall. We had an 8+ hour drive ahead of us, but we decided to drag our feet and go shopping. After shopping, though, we were pretty hangry and decided to get one more good Gulf meal before heading home. We went to the Shrimp Basket in Foley, which we have gone to once before. I have to say, I believe this is one of the better Shrimp Basket locations. We were seated immediately, and our server was friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs perfectly. We had dined at the Gulf Shores location earlier in the week, and decided to get the same entrees. My wife ordered the Gulf Shrimp with tails on basket, and I ordered the Seafood Basket with the Gulf Shrimp with tails on added on. Both entrees are served with fries, coleslaw, corn fritters and hushpuppies. Both of our entrees were delicious and well prepared. The Gulf Shrimp with tails on is a must! Also, at this location, they have the Shrimp Basket hot sauce on the tables, and you can purchase a bottle for $10, which I did. It's definitely delicious! Overall, I must say this is one of the better Shrimp Basket locations. If you're hangry after a long day of shopping at Tanger Outlet Mall, I highly recommend visiting this Shrimp Basket location! read more

Last time I go to Shrimp Basket. We ordered online at 5:30 pm. Arrived at 6 and received food at 6:35pm. No one knew what was going on another customer left because it took more than 40 minutes to get their food. One of my sides was sweet potato fries and they gave me like 10 fries - are you kidding me? Evidently their work release staff had to leave early. So no cook works there. Unbelievable! Didn't offer me a discount either. It should have been free. If you are struggling- be honest and say it will be 30 minutes, or our cook staff left! Crappy place! It had been my deceased father's favorite spot in Foley. Gotten sorry. read more

This restaurant is a nice one right on Highway 59 in Foley. We stopped to get seafood on our way to the beach. We seated immediately upon entering the restaurant by a very nice and friendly hostess. Our server came to get our order briefly, explained the menu and gave us time to make a decision. The decor is typical of a seafood restaurant. There are plastic crabs on the wall, pictures of beaches and other sea life. The service is very friendly and fast. The food itself was presented well flavored well and very tasty. I ordered the grilled flounder which came with coleslaw hush puppies and two sides. My chosen sides were sweet potato fries, and broccoli. Everything tasted delicious and was not too salty. My friend ordered the seafood platter. All of her meal was fried and looked very good. My friend was disappointed because she visits every year and noticed that they had removed white fish from the menu. The food was not the greatest. We had 8 people "sit" at the table and 3 of the kids did not eat, only had water, so only 5 guest ate, and they still charged us a 18 percent gratuity. When we asked why the charge, she said she couldn't do anything cause the computer automatically did it. That's a bunch of hog wash!! If you're in the mood for friendly down to earth service, you found it. If you want pretentious, don't come. It's like your favorite dive bar. Couple TVs on, a bar near the kitchen, inside and outside seating. The food comes in a plastic basket. Don't forget dessert. The Key Lime pie tastes to me like the real deal, and the brownie bites are the real star here. They also have their own beer, brewed by Fairhope Brewing. Otherwise it's the mass distributors. This is a locally owned chain. My uncle loves this restaurant and wanted us to visit when we came in town. Lots of seafood options, the drink specials were pretty Amazing too. They have both inside and outside seating. We opted to eat outside. My grandma ordered a salad, my uncle the shrimp po boy, and I ordered the pineapple habanero wings with fries. Would I recommend shrimp basket? Yes, on a couple of conditions. I would not eat at the one at the beach. It's a total tourist trap. We ate at the Foley location today for their happy hour and their oyster special. Being used to New Orleans area seafood you can get kind of spoiled with prices and amount of food compared to other areas. We had two dozen oysters that were beautiful Louisiana oysters by the way. They were fresh and very tasty. We had the fried pickles and Yuengling beer all on happy hour. Our waitress was justice and she did a fabulous job very friendly welcoming knowledgeable very pleasant. I can recommend the shrimp basket during their specials outside of that. I'm not 100% sure. read more

We had a recommendation to try shrimp basket while visiting the area from the sales associate at Ron jon. I looked it up, and saw some pretty mediocre reviews. Thus, we went somewhere else. The following day, we decided we wanted seafood again. We went into a different restaurant where the service was bad, so we left. Drove to another place, which appeared to be closed. We headed back to the place where we were staying. I spotted the shrimp basket, so we pulled in. I'm so glad we did. The food was amazing. Absolutely delicious, all fresh, we even ordered more than what we planned after receiving the first plate. It was well seasoned and hot. Not greasy at all. The sauces and sides were also amazing.
