I really enjoyed this adorable little cafe. The ahi tuna was fresh and amazingly went well with the other garnishes on the sandwich.Delish truffle fries,fresh sweet fruit side and great turkey and apple butter sandwiches.Service was very friendly. Google recommended this restaurant for me as I was passing through after a work trip, and I was really impressed with the restaurant. The server was extremely kind and service was pretty quick, granted it was an off-peak time so it wasn't super busy. They have a variety of salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and several options for sides like Mac and cheese so there are lots of options. Knowing I had a drive home, I opted for a corn salad with chicken on it and it was absolutely delicious! The dressing was very tasty, and there was a wide variety of vegetables used. The chicken was grilled and savory/warm which I prefer over the cold chicken you usually get on salads. I also ordered the Mac and cheese, and it was tasty but I've had better. However, I know I'm picky when it comes to Mac and cheese since I order it pretty much everywhere. The restaurant is near the heart of Gettysburg, and since I came during an off-peak time (3 pm on a Tuesday), street parking wasn't an issue. It was a cute restaurant, and I saw someone next to me order dessert which also looked really good. Definitely worth another trip back! read more

Was visiting my old alma mater after being in Baltimore and found this spot to eat. I hate that this place opened the year I graduated as it is phenomenal! We got the Hummus and pita to start Via the waiter's suggestion, I got the Fennel sausage & broccolini pizza. His suggestion was on point as this pizza was the perfect size, delicious and reminded me of something from the North End in Boston. read more

Love this restaurant! The brussel sprouts appetizer and the apple cheddar chicken sandwich are my favorite dishes, but you can't go wrong here! The staff is also so nice and it's moments away from downtown Gettysburg and Gettysburg College. We were meeting friends in Emmitsburg, MD who were coming from New York (and we were coming from Baltimore), and we decided to go to Gettysburg for a late lunch. We rely on reviews for guidance and always look for the number one restaurant in any city we visit. We hit the jackpot with Food 101. We had a party of 6. We arrived at 4:30 PM, and the restaurant was empty at that time; however, it filled up quickly. We were warmly greeted and seated at a table for 6. Jeff, our sever, delivered great service. Our compliments to the Chef. The food is just sooo good. You could taste fresh, high-quality ingredients in every dish that came out of the kitchen - and the care that went into them. Our lunches were wonderful. We enjoyed the Wild Mushroom White Pizza, Apple Cheddar Chicken Sandwich, La Cubana, Club 101, and 2 Chicken Avocado Sandwiches. One in our party ordered the Cauliflower 101, which were tempura battered pieces of cauliflower with sesame seeds in a sweet & sour sauce. He shared it with all of us - what an interesting and delicious dish with just a little kick to it. They only had 4 desserts left, and we took them all: - a Chocolate Torte, Ricotta Cake, and 2 Cheesecakes. The perfect sweet endings to our sumptuous meals. My husband had the Club 101 Sandwich (house roasted, hand carved turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, chipotle mayo, wheat berry bread) and truffle fries. I had the Vegetable Powerhouse Sandwich (Roasted zucchini, squash, eggplant, red peppers, smoked portabella, avocado, fresh mozzarella, romaine lettuce, oven-dried tomato aioli, wheat berry bread). We stopped in on our way through Gettysburg. Parking was a bit of a pain in terms of trying to feed a meter but it was worth it. Great non-chain fare. Loved the apple turkey panini! Definitely worth stopping by! The staff were super cool and trying really hard too. read more

Do not miss this great Gettysburg eating spot. This was my third visit in about a year -- twice with friends pre-pandemic, and this time with my family now that things are starting to open up in PA -- and we have all been impressed and delighted by the food and service. Last night's dinner was ordered online (easy checkout) for pickup. Showed up way early to pick it up, but didn't have to wait long for it to be ready. Everything was packaged for easy transport back to our hotel room, and the food was EVERYTHING we wanted it to be after a long work day and evening road trip. My daughter had a build-your-own roasted red pepper and broccolini 10-inch pizza on a perfectly crisp dough with a red sauce that had her licking her lips and fingers. She managed to finish half and is already eying the leftovers for breakfast. The hubs got the Club 101 -- one of my favorites from my last visit -- thickly sliced turkey, crisp bacon, and perfectly ripe avocado on toast. Classic, but executed perfectly. The side of fruit was also fresh and generous. My dinner was a chief's special -- seared bistro steak with sautéed broccoli and mushrooms. It comes with a potato and chickpea hash, but I sub'd for more veggies and was happy to see they really did add more (most places skimp on you when you ask for something like that). The steak was so tender and cooked exactly as requested -- they even pre-sliced it, which was great because trying to cut a steak with plastic cutlery isn't fun! It was a very helpful touch and didn't take away from the steak's juiciness at all. We all shared a side of fried Brussels sprouts, which were crisp and lightly battered and paired nicely with the spicy mustard/horse radish sauce it came with. Theres very limited seating inside, and the space is tight so distancing would be near impossible. But when you pick up your food, you'll be able to see the interesting photos and art on the walls, which I always find cheerful. Curbside pickup means you don't really get to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, but it's worth it -- and the food travels well! Ours didn't even last long enough for me to get many photos! There are menus on the door outside, so even if you just stop by, you can check it out and decide what you want before going in to place your order. These are weird times, but the staff was friendly and helpful, just as they have been in the past. Everyone had their masks on -- and on the right way! -- as did the other guests who were stopping in to order/pick up. read more

I was attending a conference in Gettysburg, with my three teenage sons in tow, and needed a place with high-quality food and enough variety to please all of the members of our party. This place fit the bill! We ordered Brussels sprouts for the table, which my kids inhaled, as well as four entrees. My Niçoise salad was excellent with my tuna cooked medium-rare to order, plenty of fresh vegetables, and just the right amount of dressing. The sons loved their pork filet on a bed of vegetables (especially loved the flavorful sauce!), margarita pizza, and crab capellini. The only complaint was that the capellini was very rich (is that a complaint?), so my son did not eat all the cream sauce. No matter. Dinner was fabulous and everyone was pleased. This is a gem in Gettysburg! It is a very small place so it can certainly be difficult to get a seat inside, but it is well worth it. The food is so good and well made, and the staff are lovely. I've never tried their outdoor seating but it's probably pleasant as the days get a little cooler. You should definitely go here! I'm from Gettysburg so it's funny to think about all the things that were in this building and location before Food 101. I hope it stays here for the long haul! read more

Great food. On our last visit I had a Reuben sandwich that was absolutely delicious. It was served with house chips which were a perfect combination of crunchiness and saltiness. My wife had a Turkey sandwich with avocado. She really enjoyed. All in all a very nice meal. A gentleman at the table next to us a a smoked salmon sandwich that looked amazing. Food 101 is among our favorites in Central PA and continues to impress. We loved the cauliflower appetizer so much the last time we ordered it again. Really great meal. Fresh ingredients and a great menu selection. They even have a separate vegan menu if you ask. We had the powerhouse sandwiches vegan style with fries. Delicious! We are looking to go back again soon and order more of their vegan dishes. Our family who are not vegan really enjoyed their selections as well. We ordered 2 pizzas, cuban sandwich and truffle fries. On our annual Spring trip to Gettysburg we walk blocks and discover new businesses from restaurants to pottery to candy to silversmiths and even new museum. Always thrilled to support any locals! This corner eatery was updated, small scale restaurant with those 50's style Formica topped faux granite tables reminded of my days on farm. The health-score showed '100' on Yelp as evident by the clean dining room which adjoins the bright, open kitchen. We had a late lunch so, stopped by for blueberry elderflower cheesecake and this lemon tart. oOh, Yum! Nice creamy flavor and bright lemony goodness. My husband had the shrimp orzo and I had the Scottish orzo. The base were pretty much the same except the shrimp had more ingredients that added to the overall flavor. The dressing on the salmon was a little lack luster as it says that it included jalapeños, I was expecting a bit of a kick. Overall, the meals were prepared and cooked well, but there could more to the flavor palette that would make it a signature dish. My wife, kid, and 2 dogs enjoyed a delicious lunch in their patio space the other day. For the location of the restaurant intersecting 2 busier streets they did a nice job setting up more personal atmosphere. We split the brussel sprouts which were pretty solid and the mustarddipping sauce was different and worked well. I had the apple chicken bacon sandwich with fries. I loved the fries, right amount of seasoning and cooked well. The sandwich was also tasty and the meal was filling. Great choice for lunch with sandwich and salad options. I'm wrestling between 4 and 5 stars. It was a great meal but ever so slightly missed the mark. I couldn't decide what I wanted. So I effectively flipped a coin (I had the waitress choose for me.). One of our party had my other choice, which I tasted. The lamb, not what I ordered, was great! It was so perfectly seasoned and the cranberry sauce was a great touch. We also had a couple orders of fried Brussels sprouts. They were well-fried and served with a mustard sauce. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake, the gooey cake, and the semolina cake for the table. All gone in minutes! As with many restaurant reviews, this was a victim of chance. If my own meal was a little better (it was good, but not as good as the lamb), I would definitely give it five stars. read more

This place was recommended to us by some friends who had tried it on their Gettysburg visit. Small and byob it does not look like much on the outside but the food we tried was excellent. I had the ahi tuna sandwich which had a delicious mustard that really complemented the tuna nicely. It came with several side dish choices and the couscous salad was yummy. Hubby had the curried salmon sandwich with the side of fruit. The fruit was all grapes of various types. This sandwich was also a winner. And to top it off, we had the carrot cake which was one of the best I have had. So moist and a yummy cream cheese frosting. It had nuts and coconut but just the right amount of each. The menu also includes pizzas and pastas. Ambience isn't much but judging from the number of take out orders and the steady stream of diners, this is a place treasured by locals and visitors alike! read more

While visiting Gettysburg, we decided to have an early dinner in town. We saw some good reviews about Food 101 and drove over. This unassuming dinner spot is not to be missed. Regarding the menu: The cauliflower appetizer is simply not to be missed. Think cauliflower apps aren't for you? This dish will change your mind. Seriously. The Club 101 sandwich was another welcome surprise. The Turkey was fresh and juicy, and the bread was tasty too. (I ordered it sans bacon.) Club sandwiches are a mixed bag sometimes; often dry and tasteless. This one was an absolute success. The fries were also very good. My partner ordered the Cider Braised Chicken and loved every bite. Juicy, tender and very flavorful. Now the service: Robert was our server. Welcoming from the start, he was polite, attentive and knew when to engage in social conversation and when to give us space to enjoy our meal. He was friendly without being "hover-y," and made sure our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed. Ambiance: with a metro/50s chic vibe, this smallish dining establishment is cozy without being cramped, spotless and inviting. Thumbs up to whomever is responsible for the decoration. I has been awhile since I have eaten at Food101 and I forgot how great everything is! My wife had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and I had the artisan mushroom pizza. The crust is amazing. Soft and chewy without being too doughy. Perfect! Of course we shared an order of the truffle Parmesan fries which are amazing as well. Service was prompt, courteous and professional. I found the cutest little, I'm not even sure what to call it, a baby diner? I walk in and I'm not hungry, at this point its at hangry. I see someone sitting, I'm assuming its the owner and I say, Its been one of those days. I'd like a big glass of wine and a nice meal. Everyone comes around the counter to greet me. They tell me Food 101 is BYO? Why are there wine bottles in the display case?? Oh, that's to promote the wine shop across the street. Which is closed.. Not a problem, we're going to set you up with some tasty treats off our menu. My cheerful waitress walks over and I tell her, I'm super hungry. She suggested tempura shrimp with a crazy dipping sauce. I also want to tear into a burger with homemade potato chips. The shrimp comes to me, perfectly cleaned. I'm pretty sure she said tempura shrimp. The batter was thick, almost like pancake batter. It was different but welcomed. The shrimp wasn't overcooked, its comfort food at its finest. The burger? I had to ask if the brioche bun was made in house. No, I'm told its from a local bakery. The bun is amazing. It has a homemade caramelized onion spread along with cheese. The homemade chips, I couldn't put them down. The meat patty? Here's where I knock off a star, it wasn't seasoned. It tasted like plain meat. I was all set to leave, I'm pretty packed at this point. My cheerful waitress comes back and starts rattling off dessert items. She tells me, they make an Italian style wheat pie??? Yes please. Do you have espresso? We do. Please bring that to me as well.
