We grabbed some lunch before heading home after a weekend at Gettysburg. It was a Sunday around 1pm. We had about a 25 minute wait. It's kind of small inside, so not as much seating as other places. Small menu, but that is not a bad thing at all, but, if you are in the mood for something specific be sure to check to make sure they have it before you go. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the seasoned waffled fries. My husband got one of their salads and added shrimp to it. Both were very delicious! We had to try the desserts. We shared the pb pie & cheesecake with caramel sauce. Wow they are amazing. Our server was super friendly & polite. Pricing was fair. They add 3% for credit card use just a heads up, I know some people don't like that. So you know to pay cash otherwise. read more

We've been coming to Gettysburg for YEARS and somehow never made it into Gettysburg Eddie's. After finally trying it, we're mad we waited this long! We came in about an hour before closing, and our server Aedan was absolutely wonderful. She was energetic, sweet and attentive, and never made us feel rushed. Easily some of the best service we've had in a long time. We started with the Supreme Nachos, and these are definitely meant to SHARE! They were HUGE and absolutely loaded. The housemade chips were incredibly crispy, and I loved the addition of banana peppers. They added a tangy bite and different kind of heat alongside the jalapeños. Some of the best nachos we've had outside of a Mexican restaurant, and our table of four still only finished about half! My mother-in-law got the Reuben with onion rings and said it was the BEST Reuben she's ever had. That says a lot because it's one of her usual orders when eating out. She especially loved how flavorful and tender the corned beef was. My husband got the Tuesday special of 3 steak tacos for $10. The steak was tender and tasted like quality cuts of beef. His only criticism was that it could use more seasoning and that a housemade spicy ranch or signature sauce could really take the tacos to the next level. I got the fish and chips, and the haddock was MASSIVE! The thin, crispy batter stayed perfectly attached, and the fish was hot, flaky and tender. The very thin tail end was slightly dry, but it was such a small portion that it didn't take away from the meal. The biggest surprise was their housemade tartar sauce. Creamy, tangy and slightly sweet from the relish. Hands down my favorite tartar sauce I've had! The seasoned battered waffle fries were also delicious, and they give you a TON. The coleslaw wasn't personally my preferred style since I like a finely minced, sweeter and juicier slaw, while theirs was longer shredded and drier, but that's completely personal preference. Portions here are HUGE, so several meals could easily be shared or give you plenty of leftovers. We also loved the cozy neighborhood pub atmosphere with exposed brick, dark wood, baseball and Eddie Plank memorabilia, and moodier lighting. Between the food, atmosphere, huge portions and especially Aedan's wonderful service, Gettysburg Eddie's has officially earned a spot in our Gettysburg rotation. Right in the middle of the very touristy part of Gettysburg, surrounded by tacky shops, and with almost no nearby parking. We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming. read more

It's been quite a while since my wife stopped here to dine... probably 5+ years. I've noticed that in the 17 years I've been in Gettysburg y this restaurant is #1 still here, and #2 continues a level of food service that both the locals and tourists enjoy. My wife and I both had the shrimp baskets and two soft drinks for lunch. The shrimp baskets were $17 each and the soft drinks $3 each. With tax and tips the total bill came to $50. The shrimp were obviously pre-battered and frozen but they were pretty tasty. The french fries had some kind of a nice crispy coating and were excellent. The coleslaw was pretty tired. The service was cordial and quick. The decor is as I remembered very nice. There is free parking behind this restaurant, but not many people know it is there. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I think that the cost of the luncheon was a little more than it should've been for what we received. Had the shrimp been coated with a batter and fried from scratch (instead of being taken out of a frozen bag) I might've been able to award five stars. But... All in all this restaurant continues to hold its "very good to excellent" reputation for food and service over many years. This was the first time my husband and I went to this restaurant. THAT A GREAT PLACE!! We like to sit at the bar. The downstairs bar was too busy so we went upstairs to The Jewel Box Lounge Bar. You can I order food at the bar, plus they bar top tables. Christian F. was the bartender and waiter for the entire upstairs. Boy, did he do an amazing job making sure everyone had what they needed. Dined here on a busy Sunday night. Parking lot was very difficult to find a spot for a pick up truck. Found 2 seats at the bar & ordered drinks to start. Bartender was friendly & informative. Seemed they were out of a lot of things on a Sunday night so that made it a little difficult to figure out what to order. I would up with a small side salad that was decent & the wings. My husband had a sandwich & we then shared the homemade peanut butter pie without whip cream. The dessert was excellent. Not a bad choice when in town! read more

Delicious burger!! Huge portions, great service! We sat outside and enjoyed our lunch, which is difficult with a baby and toddler in tow!

I'm giving this place a 5 because of the staffs great attitude. The food is maybe more 4.5 star but that may be based on what you order. It was during the Halloween Parade (I may be a little late with the review) and the Mrs. and I only got this far into the city...but that's ok, we were looking to check this place out anyway. The place was crowded and there was a 15 - 20-minute wait but we were actually seated in 10. When the Host seated us (actually a decent table) I (jokingly) asked if there another table and he looked around at the crowed room and said "umm" and I said, "dude, only kidding" he laughed... he was a good sport. When the server came, she had a great attitude, we figure out the drinks we wanted and she said she would be back shortly... which she was, with our drinks. Now originally we were looking for a little more upscale dining which Eddies did offer but It just didn't fit the motif. The handheld section was more in line. When our server came...(Jokingly) we started asking about things that weren't quite on the menu. Her response was about options that weren't there either. Great attitude and fun staff as crowed as they were. We both went with the English Style Beef. The sandwich came with a mountain of fries, a generous bowl of Au Jus and a handful of napkins. The beef wasn't super thin sliced but very tender accompany with the Swiss cheese and Ciabatta roll. I upped the anti with the mushrooms and onions skipping the roasted red peppers. Great Sandwich! Eddies was fun, staff was awesome, food was delicious, I just wish I remembered the servers name (for the accolades), great attitude in a very crowded environment. Gettysburg Eddie's has great food, a fun atmosphere, and an excellent beer selection. That's why I keep coming back. That said, the parking situation is a pain, and if there's a private party upstairs, good luck. The noise travels, and you're stuck listening to however loud and obnoxious they decide to be. It can really take away from the experience. Still a good spot overall, but those issues definitely knock it down a notch read more

We happened to stop in off season and on a Monday. We were warmly welcomed and sat at a table by the window. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was fresh and portions were ample. My husband had the Reuben with garlic mashed potatoes, my son enjoyed the roast beef with onions, peppers, and au jus with a side of the garlic mashed potatoes while I enjoyed a turkey club ( made at my request with just two slices of bread) plus seasoned French fries. Everything was tasty and two of us took half of our meal home to enjoy later. We found ample parking behind the restaurant. I would not hesitate to eat here again. read more

As soon as we walked in, we had a good feel. Old wood, rustic feel. Staff was super friendly from beginning to end. Every single one we encountered. Menu had something for everyone. My wife had a French onion soup to start, as did I, and fried haddock sandwich. I ordered the English beef sandwich with mushrooms. The soup was very good, and I think the croutons were rye, which gave it a little extra depth. The haddock was cooked well and the portion was large. It wasn't anything to rave about, but it certainly did the trick! The English beef had plenty of meat and mushrooms. The au jus was perfect. But the sandwich came on ciabatta. My fault for not reading the description closely enough. Although a very good ciabatta, the English themselves would call for a granary or even sourdough to hold in the savory ingredients. My son got a Mac-n-cheese with bacon and he loved it. (So did I!!) very creamy, huge portion, and so damned comforting! My other son got beef tacos. Again, nothing fancy here, but they were stuffed full and he gave them a thumbs up. Specialty Cocktails were unique and delicious. Aside from the bread on the English beef, I was perplexed by the wings served with the mango habanero on the side. Wings were crispy, but having them sauced would have been nice. And there was a side ceaser salad served with the Mac-n-cheese that was not crisp and felt like more of a "gotta give them a salad" salad. An afterthought. The atmosphere was great. Our server/ bartender was pleasant, attentive and efficient. However, we ordered the seared scallops which were not seared. They actually looked microwaved. It came with cold, lumpy mashed potatoes and a vegetable. We were so disappointed as the food around us looked great. We are not the type to send food back. We tipped our server as if the food was great. He deserved that. The cost of our meal versus the quality means we will most likely never be patrons again. read more

It's fun to have these old historic buildings you can get a meal in. Super casual, and great for a family, we were thrilled to get a table here (after finding out a 2 hour wait nearby). The place was busy, but the staff stayed on top of the churn. Food is pretty standard american fare. Nothing that really stood out as outstanding. The kids menu was really uninspired and didn't include any veggies. At $8, that wasn't a hit. I got a burger and honestly wasn't impressed - being more high-end fast food style (smashburger?) than tavern burger. The bread was cheap. All that said - the staff was really friendly, and some other items on the menu did look pretty appealing. If I'm back in town, I would be willing to give them a second chance. read more

NEVER ever will go to this place again. We were there when they opened today at 11am and were the first party seated. Took about 10 minutes for our server to come to the table. Not great, but not really the gripe. We kept waiting and waiting and waiting for our food. Server just said, "sorry, it will be out." Waited and waited more. Server was in hiding mode now. Finally 45 minutes after being seated I went back to the bar and asked how i owed for 2 beers and that we were leaving. Server came out and said, "sorry, we are short-staffed". Short staffed in the kitchen, and we were the first table??? Sounds to me like cook didn't show up. We paid and while walking back thru the restaurant noticed that no one at all (probably 8-10 tables or so) had been served ANY food. NEVER again! Traveling to Gettysburg with our two 11yo grandsons, always circles around, " where do we eat!" We couldn't have selected better! The food: Philly cheesesteak, wings, chicken sandwich on a gf bun, and beef tacos were plentiful and delicious, and served piping hot. But the clear star of the show was the hot pretzel covered with crab dip and cheese. Huge and tasty. Our server deserves a shoutout for her outstanding service. According to the receipt, it was M. I can't say enough about Gettysburg Eddie's. My family was only in town for a day and found ourselves in the awkward position of going out to dinner when just about every restaurant in Gettysburg was closed. We were pointed to Eddie's by a kind local, and wondered in just short of 9:00pm. We were immediately greeted by a kind gentleman who showed us to our table. Everything from the first impression to the general "vibes" of Eddie's was immaculate-- an even more notable accomplishment considering the time we entered the establishment. The interior was gorgeous and did a top notch job with the pub aesthetic, and the slew of locals chatting and watching the sporting event on the TV proved it was well liked by locals as well. The food itself was delicious and served with flair in big portions. The nachos were great, as were their signature philly cheese steaks. In all, we really enjoyed our experience. read more

We came to Gettysburg for our 11 year anniversary, which happened to be one week to the day that we lost one of our very closest friends. Lexi was an amazing bartender. She immediately lifted our spirits, listening to our stories of our friend as we toasted Pickleback shots to her. We met some really great locals at the bar who cheered us right up. We finished the 1st day battlefield and came here for lunch and a drink before hitting days 2 & 3. Nice friendly cozy spot with good food and good prices. We planned on a light lunch which didn't happen. We had the crabby dip over tots appetizer. Very tasty and A LOT, more than enough for a table. We both had soup. I had the French Onion and the Mrs had the crab and shrimp bisque. Her bisque was so good. It come with a shot of Sherry to pour in. I preferred it without the Sherry, she preferred it with the sherry. It's very hardy. Easily a meal in itself. I've had many an onion soup in my day BUT this had to be one of the better ones I've ever had. Yes EVER.. so good. The bowl wasn't half onions that you find in some. Just a small amount on the bottom. The rest was a hot bowl of excellent tasting broth with goowee cheese. Not a ton of seating so I can see this place filling up. We sat on a high top in the back. We ordered for pick up. The person assisting was very accommodating as she added condiments for us. There were plenty of napkins provided. I got the haddock hoagie with fries and my friend ordered the fish tacos w/fries. We both wanted waffle fries but they stop serving them. The fries were good, crunchy and tender as well . My haddock hoagie was great, fresh lettuce and tomato and provided yummy tarter sauce in small containers on the side with small ones of Mayo as well. My friend liked her fish tacos as well. We would definitely order again. We don't know the ambiance as a friend picked up our food but I'm thinking that he didn't complain so everything in the place looked great! read more
