Service was great. Friendly staff. One of my diners had the portobello burger & loved it. I had the Italian Cheesesteak. I thought the handheld would be thinly sliced steak, just like a Philly, with Italian sauce & cheese. It was definitely NOT. despite the server checking and declaring it was. Nice and efficient server but crummy food. The menu was pretty unappealing so I only ordered a bowl of onion soup...the soup was tasteless, the crouton was mush and the cheese was ok. The sandwich had their homemade cheese sauce on it, so good! I could pour that cheese sauce all over those fries and go to town. Daughter had a turkey avocado salad- really fresh and the veggies in there were perfect. The bacon was thick and crispy, delicious. Food was good- it's not blowing you away, but it's good pub food. My firecracker shrimp tracks were delicious, as was the spicy slaw that came with it. The ambiance is exactly what you should expect for a pub. The service was the best part. Our waitress Michelle (?) should be training others, though her gifts are likely just innate. My husband and I always have lunch/ dinner here after riding our horses on the battlefields. There's adequate parking behind the building as well street parking out front. Everyone is always so nice and the food is really good! There's usually always room at the bar and that's where we sit. The drinks are always made perfectly. My favorites are definitely the margaritas, crab cakes, wings and crab pretzel! If you're in town this is a good place to grab a bite to eat or even some drinks. read more

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by (2) hostesses, of which communicated there was a 30 minute wait for two of us. One hostess proceeded to explain there was room at the bar downstairs and upstairs and started talking so fast, I had no idea what she was saying. Out of nowhere, a waitress explained there were high toppers available and proceeded to show us in the bar. She was exceptionally nice and I tipped her for understanding and being nice. The bartender was our waitress and she was FANTASTIC from start to finish. The memorabilia is incredible in the restaurant, clearly depicting the era of when Eddie Plank played and what he meant to the community. Excellent environment, food and service! read more

Great service. Great food. Was there on Sunday 11/20 with a party of 4. The waitress was amazing and checked on us frequently. She was very sweet. Don't remember her name. I had an excellent burger and fries that were piping hot. We also had the wings, the shrimp and the hot grinder. Everyone loved their food! Used the bathroom and it was also up to par. This was my first time here- it is worth going back! We arrived around 4pm at the start of Happy Hour. We started with the Spicy Fried pickles, delicious. The dipping sauce is different but very good. I ate the Eddie's Hero, very good on a Ciabatta roll. My fiancé had the jalapeño burger, he said it was really good, and my mom had the Eddie's pulled beef hoagie. We would not get that again, as it was a sweet beef and as a personal preference we prefer a less sweet beef. All-in-all the service was great, atmosphere was great as well. We were just there end of August 2023 on a Friday night. It was busy but not standing room only. There is parking behind the restaurant, which is great. My husband got the jalapeno/bbq/cheese burger and I got an order of fried pickles and the cheesesteak sub. He was amazed at the size of the burger! Could have fed two people! Fries were really good. They had a coating on them that made them really crispy. Fried pickles came with a buffalo/ranch sauce that was just hot enough. The cheesesteak was good and filling. Overall a very good place. It's decor is dedicated to Eddie Plank was a MLB player around the turn of the 20th century who was born in Gettysburg. read more

My family and I were Gettysburg, after a great day of exploring the battlefield until it got dark and no one was permitted in the park. It was a Tuesday and we were starving, but we couldn't find a place where the kitchen was still open until we came across Gettysburg Eddie's. I'm just going to start off by saying that I CANNOT WAIT to go back. The atmosphere is great for everybody, whether you want to go and sit at the lively bar with all the TVs in the other room, or you'd like to sit and have a meal with family and friends. The kids' menu is very good, with the usuals to choose from, such as Mac and Cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, and the chicken fingers that my son got, amongst others. I started off with the crab and shrimp bisque, which was out of this world. I've only ever had crab bisque, so this mixture with the shrimp was delicious! The signature drinks are great, with a nice fruity kick to them. I had the HOUSE HERO, which I cannot recommend highly enough. With all of the Italian meats, provolone cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, it's beyond delicious. It's also huge, so you really get a bang for your buck (it tastes just as good when you bring it home)! My husband said the cheeseburger was the best he's had in a long time. The servers are all very kind and attentive as well. Despite it getting closer to closing time, we never felt rushed. Had dinner at Gettysburg Eddie's. The restaurant is a tribute to favorite son Edward Stewart Plank, a baseball player from the early 20th century. He was the first major league southpaw to win 300 games, was the 1913 World Series MVP and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of fame in 1946. Enough about that. Gettysburg Eddie's is a nice cozy restaurant; it has the atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. For dinner, my wife had the grilled Greek chicken and I had the Reuben sandwich. The grilled Greek chicken was topped with sautéed onions, tomatoes, Calamata olives, Greek dressing and melted feta cheese. With my Reuben I had the steak fries as my side; the portion was generous. Named after local baseball Hall of Famer, Eddie Plank, it's a baseball oriented sports bar. As such the menu consists of a lot undescriptive but catch named foods like The Grand Slammer, Home Run Sandwich, Double Play, Triple Play, Extra Bases and so forth, basically bar foods which I tend to avoid, but here, I found them to actually be rather good. I start off with their Caesar Salad which consisted of a good crispy romaine, a creamy Caesar dressing, topped with a parmesan cheese and croutons. Then, went for their Philly Cheese Steak which though not prepared in keeping with the traditional style of a Philly Cheese as one might find at such Philadelphia cheesesteaks landmarks of Gino's or Pat's, as the bread was more hoagie like and the cheese, not a mixed in whiz but American melted on top. However, very good in flavor. Both the dining area and bar area have a much better atmosphere than do most sport bars with the dining be set off and separate from the bar. read more

The place was okay it was very crowded to where we had to go upstairs the waiter was excellent didn't miss any of our orders and remembered everyone's drinks but the thing we didn't like is how pricey everything was I got a simple cheeseburger and still paid over $13 for it. The cheapest things they have are the appetizers and they was still $10. It was pretty clean but if your looking for a good priced place with good food I wouldn't recommend this restaurant especially if there's more then one person eating cause you'll be paying an arm and a leg for it read more

I was not impressed with the food. My shrimp and crab bisque had undercooked potatoes and no taste of crab. My filet mignon sandwich was decent and they cook the steak to your liking. This restaurant is located in Downtown Gettysburg and is one of the few without a Civil War motif. It is named for a Baseball Hall of Famer from Gettysburg named Eddie Plank, a left handed pitcher with 300 wins. Anyway, on with the review! We went there for lunch after touring the battlefield. It is important to note that they were practicing safe social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have to give them some kudos for that. Limited seating and masks were the order of the day. We ordered nachos and some beers when we arrived, club sandwiches, and a crabcake. All of the food was what you would expect from a typical bar-like restaurant. Solid, filling, perhaps not spectacular but certainly not bad. The service was good and we left there feeling like we had a decent meal for the money. Again, it is important to note that my four star rating is based upon my expectations of bar food as well as the fact that they were open safely during a pandemic. I have to give them a little bump for that. If I am ever back in Gettysburg, I will certainly return. read more

The food was ready when they advised, we took it back to our hotel and ate almost all of it as it was very good. Very disappointing meal. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and they were kind enough to find a table for me, despite being relatively crowded. That is where the good things to say about this place come to an end. I have been reading all the positive reviews, and I don't get it. I ordered a steak medium well, and I got it medium rare, bordering on the rare side. Exactly the way I hate to eat a steak. And I will say that it was the worst steak I have ever had in my life. No exaggeration. It was way overpriced and the taste was hideous. The salad was bland and tasteless. I will say the fries were delicious. The service could have been better. I asked for a refill on my soda and the waitress forgot me. I went to the bar and asked for a refill. Perplexed, the bartender asked, "Don't you have a server?" I told the truth, "She forgot me." As I said, I saw the reviews which were overwhelmingly positive, and all I can say is I most certainly did not have that experience. I come to Gettysburg very frequently and this is one place I will avoid at all costs. The repulsive taste of that steak is still in my taste buds and I want to get it out of my mouth as well as pretending I never ate that hideous piece of meat. read more

I ordered the black and bleu hamburger (medium) and it was really dry and the bleu cheese was dried out as well. It was if it sat under a heat lamp too long and the fries were good but Iuke warm. Business usually takes me into Gettysburg a couple of times a year and I realize I usually make a point of stopping at Gettysburg Eddies. On the edge of the historical area and surrounded by tourist shops selling t-shirts and shot glasses sand tickets for ghost tours and the rest of the tourist junk is this nice little place for a meal. It is bar food and bar food given a bit of a lift and is reliable and a good price. One of the great things about this place is the decor. With so much of the town stuck in those three days in July 1863, the styling here is late 19th century baseball. With everything else in the area celebrating the battle and the war and the south and the north and the...OMG thank goodness I can get a drink and a meal without that. As a note for the staff I was in there last Friday for dinner. I'd arrived when there was still space even for a 'table for one' and was seated at once at a six top. I had dinner- the seafood platter- and as I ate I could see larger groups stacking up by the door. There was NO attempt to rush me when I was done even though they definitely could have used the space. 'Would you like coffee/dessert?' Was asked with the sound of someone wanting to make sure their guest was pleased, not that they wanted me o-u-t for the next sitting. It was the sense of hospitality being honored in the spirit that is all too often lacking in the modern world that really came home to me. I will say parking can be a little bit of a problem but that pretty much is a given in Gettysburg, especially for lunch and do dinner rather than lunch if you get a choice. I don't know why but the fries at lunch time tend to be hard, overdone nuggets, The ones for dinner are always light and fluffy like they're supposed to be. That having been said I keep going back here. there are lots of places in Gettysburg for food and I keep stopping here. I really can't think of a better endorsement. read more
