We stayed in Alpine, WY to gain access to Grand Tetons NP and Jackson, WY. Discovering the Flying Saddle Resort Steakhouse and Restaurant was serendipitous! The food was superb and the service was great. I had the NY strip steak, my wife had the cod and my sister the crab cakes. All enjoyed their meal. The clam chowder was also a surprise with lots of meat and not just potatoes. We had excellent weather as well, so we enjoyed dining on the patio. I have no problem recommending this restaurant for anyone visiting the area. read more

We absolutely loved staying here for a quick getaway to go snowmobiling along Grey River. We were so surprised at the accommodations. The front desk personnel were lovely. However, we did not receive the breakfast we were told because the truck didn't deliver the two days we were there. The rooms were clean and spacious and we certainly enjoyed the hot tub after those two long days. We will most definitely stay there again. read more

Our family had a reunion at the Flying Saddle and spent 4 days at the resort. While this is definitely not the nicest place I have stayed in before, it is clean and comfortable. We stayed in a standard room with 2 queen beds. We had views of the Snake river and mountains. The hotel looked either very new or recently renovated. Some other people have given this place a lower review, but I think it's great for the money especially when you consider similar hotels in Jackson are going for twice the price. The resort has an indoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, a nice drive-thru liquor store and a restaurant. We all cheered when we saw the liquor store on premise. My only complaints were the beds are a bit uncomfortable and the service at the restaurant was very slow. Otherwise we had a great stay. read more

We dinned here for dinner on a Wednesday night. The resort as whole is just beautiful in regards to the building and view. The outside area has several beautiful gardens, flower beds and waterfalls making for an enjoyable view when dinning on the outdoor patio area. The patio area sat under a large pergola with flower baskets hanging on the sides. There also was a cute fire pit area that unfortunately would not lite when we ate there. Now as for the food... It was just as amazing as the dinning ambience. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer. It was the best I have ever had. My fiancée and I split the full rack of ribs which neither of us were able to finish are portions! It came with about 15-16 ribs and your choice of potato. Would definitely eat here again! And prices were better priced then I had anticipated when seeing how amazing the resort/restaurant looked. *tip: remember that you are on Wyoming time! Service will be slower than what you are used to whether dinning out it checking out at a grocery store. So try to adjust your expectations when dinning out at different restaurants. read more

Stopped in with some friends on a Sunday night and had a wonderful meal. We shared the shrimp and Vietnamese appetizer sampler. My husband got the ribeye that was prepared perfectly and I had the chicken Marsala that was creamy and garlicky. Our friends enjoyed their huge portion of the chicken Parmesan and wedge salad. July 2018 motorcycle trip. I doubt you could find a prettier little town. Towering mountains on the end of a great little lake. It was just an amazing location. The resort has a variety of rooms and is right on the river, very impressive. The rooms are adequate and maybe a little small but they were fine for us. The place really did have a resort feel. Imagine a liquor store on the property, an easy walk or stagger if you prefer. Only about 30 miles from Jackson and no crowds. They also serve dinner and it was really, really good. They have real chef. The staff are all very young and most are local and well trained. I even talked to the manager how lucky he was to have such a great bunch of young, good looking people working for him. I would put this down as a can't miss property. The only down side is when we left morning there was a deluge and we got soaked. read more

Stayed three nights in the room they put us in was absolutely filthy, 3 different light Fixtures and all three were broken and damaged, carpet absolutely filthy dirty, card keys would have to be Reprogrammed every day we left the room at the front desk. One night we got in about 7 PM and it was 19 below zero and my family was standing outside the door while I ran into have a new key programmed. We stayed here after a long road trip of mediocre hotels and this was by far the best place we stayed. The price was great, the room was super clean, the bed was so comfy and the view was fantastic. We looked out over the Snake River on our private balcony. Pool and hot tub were great after a long day on a motorcycle. One thing in particular, most hallways in hotels have a musty smell but the hallway going to our room was a pleasant, clean smell -we know that sounds weird but it was something that really stood out to us The management and staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help us. We would definitely stay here over the high prices of Jackson. We will definitely be back!! read more

Very helpful staff who went out of their way to make our family happy for my mom's birthday. They get 5 stars. The restaurant was good, with generic salad bar with lot of canned goods, but the bison burger and almond crusted trout were excellent and drinks were strong. The rooms are overdue for a makeover. The bedspreads appeared to be from the 70's - loud polyester with a sheen which went immediately into the closet. The A/C was not strong, and the shower barely trickled and during July I waited 15 minutes for hot water. It was a bonus to offer pet friendly rooms, however they are carpeted and if you don't catch the cleaners they with douse it with a toxic powder each day which gave us headaches and took two days to air out. We requested a frig and were told no. It would be so easy to make this place awesome as the grounds are absolutely lovely with trees, wildflowers and huge grassy areas for the dogs along the river. Unfortunately none of the pet friendly rooms open to the river side! Suggestions: replace carpet with laminate, ditch the 1980's TVs and get flat screens, replace gross bedspreads with comforters with duvets, add a refrigerator, and a door to the Snake river side, or at least add windows to the bathrooms. Also, the ceiling must be smoothed out (merengue ceilings?)! Having said all of that, we loved being there with our family including pooches and enjoyed the stay. Sadly we had a terrible "dining" experience at this establishment. The setting and ambience is very nice. But after waiting one hour fifteen minutes for our meal we just had to leave. Everyone around us who arrived much later than ourselves was being served. I think our server was rather new at her job. In any case when we asked to speak with the manager she appeared and was quite defensive and not at all customer friendly. I am in the "sunset of life" and have NEVER taken the drastic measure of walking out of a restuarant so dissatified. read more

This review is for the lodge AND the restaurant. We chose this remote lodge, in order to avoid the very busy and overpriced town of Jackson, which is about 45 miles north. Our room was spacious and overlooked the grassy area in back, above the Snake River. It was clean and the comfortable king sized bed was exactly what we needed after another long day of gorgeous riding. I give the lodge a solid 4 stars. The restaurant however, was not so great. Although the ambiance was very nice, especially the outdoor patio on a balmy summer evening at sunset, the service was mediocre at best and the food was slightly above that. Most of the staff lacked personality and the steak was average. Considering that we were in cattle country, we were disappointed, especially after the perfect meal from the night before. I will say that their fried calamari was excellent. Either way, I'd give them 3.5 stars. The restaurant staff wasn't any better the next morning but I would definitely stay here again, especially when we come back to raft the Snake. read more

OMG, this was a hidden gem! We were travelling a loop around the country, so we didn't make set reservations as not sure how many miles we'd get in each day. We lucked out here when all of the Jackson Hole resorts were booked solid. Our luck!!! We'll be staying here again. Just sad we just stayed overnight, so couldn't partake of all of the amenities. Staff warm & welcoming! Room clean with everything needed. They even had laundry facilities, so we caught up on laundry, which is important, especially with kids in tow. Nice pool area. My family and I came here for dinner. Although a nice venue, the profesianolism of the wait staff was pathetic figuring the meals are any where from 20 to 40. If the price of the plates were half that it would not have bothered me but I'm assuming they are piggy backing off of the proximity to Jackson hole. The food was mediocre. There were only two tables when we arrived but the hostess who also became our waittress was very overwhelmed and disorganized. She seemed like it might have been her first night. There were two other waitstaff that didn't seem to be training her tho. She was wearing a shirt that looked sloppy. The waitress did not have common serving skills such as mention the 86 list, clear dinner plates, bringing bread to the table after she offered to bring it. All things that left me annoyed to pay 20 for an iceburg lettuce salad and a bowl of linguine. read more

The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Remarkably friendly and helpful front desk staff (Kim!) helped select a room that worked for our purposes and made us feel extremely welcome. Excellent beds, nice sized bathroom and tasteful decor. I would recommend this place to any traveler passing through Alpine. The restaurant was quite good, although possibly a tad pricier than the quality of the food justifies. Our server (Sage) was friendly, attentive and seemed genuinely happy to have us there, despite the fact that we were the last customers before closing. Great restaurant with wonderful food!! We ordered our food to carry out. They were very friendly, accommodating, and wrapped everything up so the hot food stayed hot and our cold salads stayed cold. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We had Fresh Scottish King Salmon, Chicken Parmesan, and Tiger Shrimp Cajun Alfredo. All of it was delicious, so much so that we ordered again from them the next day. That meal also included Clam Chowder, Calamari and Coconut Tiger Shrimp, which of course was equally delicious! The good: The staff was great. The place overall is outstanding. There are beautiful waterfalls in the landscaping. Gtreat artwork though out the lodge. The pool and the hot tub/spa were great. The rooms have upscale fixtures from the 1970s. The bad: Overall the rooms were adequate but the frosting style ceiling, gold bathroom fixtures and oak trim everything were very outdated. The lights around the vanity and the night light did not work. One lamp in the room did not work but it turned out it was unplugged to allow the cable box to use an outlet. read more

Excellent stay. Easy to get to, right off Highway 89 as you come into Alpine from Jackson. Good rate given us for the night. Room spacious & very clean, even around edges & rug. Beautiful bathroom. Room was quiet even though we were on end near highway. We got here late but restaurant was open till 9 PM. Had a excellent dinner. I had trout almandine, hubby had steak cook perfect & tender. The bar is okay, with five beers on tap and a decent selection of alcohol. However, I cannot recommend eating here. After what seemed an eternity to get our meal, only two of the four of us got served. Husband ordered steak and baked potato. The steak was fine, but he had to use a steak knife to saw through the potato. My friend's husband ordered a calzone, and other than not being completely cooked was all right. My friend and I ordered calzones as well. Our wait person said the "calzone maker" had gotten them both wrong, so they had to be redone. Our husbands had completely finished their dinner by the time we got ours. They were okay. It appeared they tried to make it up to us by adding a larger quantity of the ingredients. Not necessarily a good thing with roasted garlic. We did not get our water refilled and had to wait another ridiculous length of time for the bill. There were more people working in the restaurant than being served, so there went that excuse. read more

This may be the best that Alpine has to offer. The lounge and bar area is warm and inviting, done in country decor. The Micro brew selection is good. The best in town. They have a good variety of food selections with generous portions. My wife had the shrimp cocktail which was surprisingly good for being so far from the Ocean. We shared the 1 Lb burger that was excellent. It was really browned on the outside and medium on the inside.Great flavor. The side of sweet potato fries was an upgrade that was recommended by the server. They were really good. If you can, sit outside. The views are very good. Service was a little slow. read more

A shabby old motel with high prices. Very outdated rooms, looks like 70s or early 80 since a touch up. Not particularly clean either. The best/only things about this place is the server, the clam chowder and the fireplaces. However, the rolls were like a chew toy for a dog. The Calamari was rubbery, and cold. Menu very overpriced for quality/quantity. The dining room was filled with LOUD out of towners, (approximately 20 or more). Drinking from a fifth of Yukon Jack Whiskey, AT THE TABLE (the entire bottle). Not even using glasses, sometimes passing the bottle around and drinking from it. Did I mention that there were MINORS SITTING AT THE SAME TABLE while said bottle is being passed and emptied. Unbelievable. I can't believe that Management did not step in for this. I will not return , and I will NOT send any friends, family that way. Go to the next restaurant you find, ANY other one, spend your money ANYwhere else. read more
