Closed for good. We had many fun nights here. It was a great spot and a piece of Alpine history.

It's amazing how one can find an absolute gem of a restaurant in the most unlikely of places. The Nordic Inn is a a small B&B nestled in the woods of Alpine, Wyoming, about 45 minutes out of Jackson Hole, near the border of Wyoming and Idaho. It's very close to Palisades Lake; a huge expanse of blue water surrounded by breathtaking scenery courtesy of the Teton Mountains. If John Denver were alive, he would probably come here often. The restaurant is actually called "Brenthoven's." The menu is immediately eclectic and gives little hints that the chef- who also runs the bar- knows what he's doing. It's a favorite among backcountry pilots- the reason I was there- and is not only a great little restaurant, but is also a happening bar with an unlikely, interesting clientele. There were 6 of us for dinner, and I have to be honest: nothing was even close to mediocre. All the dishes were simply out of this world. Delicate flavors, bold swaths of color, perfect preparation, world-class presentation. It was amazing. Highlights: The pumpkin soup is like nothing I've ever had. Forget what it's called. Just know it's one of the tastiest little cups of anything you'll ever have the privilege to eat. The Cod Parmesan is the star here. It's a delicate, souffle-like concoction, with a beautiful light cod flavor and a perfect texture. The Parmesan adds JUST the right amount of counterbalance to the cod, along with a myriad of other ingredients. This is the stuff of dreams. I'd fly to Wyoming just to have this. The steak (Rib-eye) was like butter and with enough flavor to satisfy an Argentinian escaping from a vegetarian fat farm. Just excellent. The salads were fresh and crisp and the bread was just--baked. I'm told the drinks in the bar are extra strong...for what that's worth. This is a world-class gourmet restaurant hiding among the cowboy-pseudo-western trappings of Wyoming. Don't let the location fool you, the Nordic Inn could be numbered among the truly great restaurants in the West. It was that good. read more

I hate sharing this secret, but this is a must for anyone traveling along the Snake River. Nestled in among the pines, this unassuming B&B serves an over the top dinner. Pumpkin soup will set you free and I've tried most of the entrees and never been disappointed. Your first visit should include the entree that offers a small portion of Plum Chicken and the Cod Parmesan, that way you get to try two of the best dishes in one sitting. Sadly after 15 years it was quite clear that $$$ has become the driving force at the Nordic Inn. $30 dinner plates and then you had to pay $5 for a CUP of soup as an addition to your meal. It was outright ridiculous!!! This was never the way it used to be and the meal was mediocre at best, two pieces steamed brocolli or cauliflower -no taste, bland steak, greasy trout and just sad. If you are to go, just get the soup, salad, bread for $12 and save your money for a real dining experience in Jackson. My heart is torn. read more

A definate MUST STOP place when visitng or driving to Jackson & the Teton area. As a 'used to' be local, I was at the Nordic Inn all the time....the bar is a GREAT place to meet friends and have a lovely glass of wine and the FOOD is to die for be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. A fantastic family owned place to drop in over and over again. It's even worth the drive from New Mexico just to drop in and visit......Miss y'all read more

Comfortable room, great beds. Not really worth $200/night, but that's the going rate. I ate in bar and must admit that the burger was delicious. Simple, comfortable, homey kind of place run by nice folks. read more

Very cute cottages and log cabin rooms done very nicely, with well kept garden outside. There's only 9 rooms, and its family run. The restaurant and bar are right next door. Drop into the bar and meet the locals. read more

The pumpkin soup really is the bomb! I mean it's seriously amazing! The plum chicken and turkey dinners have both been delicious. The salads and bread are tasty. This is a cozy little place in Alpine and I try to come a couple times a year. read more

This is a great place we have been coming here for many years. Family owned and they take pride in everything they do. I love the lamb shank dinner it's just delicious never varies always great. My wife ordered the turkey dinner it's fabulous. You have to make reservations. But it's worth it. read more

We were guided to have lunch here by a resident in Jackson. It's a beautiful drive to the Inn (about thirty minutes from Jackson). The inn has a charming little outdoor dining terrace which is peaceful. The pumpkin soup and Parmesan Cod are sooo delicious. A peak inside at the bar is equally charming. Well worth the enjoyable ride. (The bread pudding is also delicious - the crepe with ice cream was disappointing as crepe not heated as I expected.) read more

What a lovely place to stay (and dine)! We stayed at the Nordic Inn for three nights and enjoyed the peace and quiet after a week in Jackson. Our room was very nice and we were especially happy with the comfortable beds! But what really sold me was the obvious care and pride taken in this family owned Inn. The flowers outside our room were beautiful and our family enjoyed lounging outside on their patio and in their vine-covered gazebo. We also enjoyed the restaurant's down-home cooking. Special care was taken for allergies which was very much appreciated. Would highly recommend! read more

We were looking to spend a night in this little town and drove by couple places. We decided to check The Nordic Inn. Once we stopped by, the owner of this place told us that they are not open till July 1st and they are open for 3 months a year from July 1. I asked her what places she would recommend to us spend the night in this town. She called couple places to check availability. Her recommendation was very good. This hotel definitely worth a 5 plus star. We were so lucky to find this place and stay there for one night after the long trip from yellowstone. It felt sooo cozy and nice to stay there. My parents loved it so much. The scenery is beautiful, the rooms are carefully decorated and surrounded by beautiful flowers. The bedding is really comfortable. We had our best sleep on the trip. And I love all those cute little decoration pieces in the registration room. They were collected by the owner around the world. I bought two of them, love it :) The restaurant is best of the best. The pumpkin soup is unbelievably delicious!!! I have never tried anything like that. The Cod Parmesan is also super tasty. We live in NYC and love to try different restaurants. We would say this restaurant is really a top level even in NYC.We had a great dinner and also a big brunch. It was such a wonderful treat after the long trip. It's a truly lovely place with the best restaurant. We highly recommend it and would love to visit again. read more

So glad we stopped....Was the best breakfast on the whole trip. I Had the Nordic special, with french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit..I had to split it with my granddaughter it was so plentiful.... My husband just kept on saying how great the food was over and over.... Great little patio in front with great views and great landscaping, the inside was quite quaint also.....Next time through I would love stay at the Inn.... read more

Hotel was clean and staff was very accommodating. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was good. We would stay here again!

Tho this place had a feeling of home, I was not impressed by the owners treatment of the workers. The waitresses were working their butts off and the owner would still bark orders at them to do stuff when the waitresses were clearly trying to do their best for the customer. If the waitress couldn't do something like finish dishes, he should of helped them out. As far as the food goes, even tho it was good, you could see in the kitchen that workers were eating out of pans without washing hands. That's disgusting. Over all, the place gives you a homie feeling, but the owners conduct and what they allow did not impress me at all. read more
