I went to Yankee Doodles Café in Alpine, Wyoming for breakfast this morning. I ordered their breakfast special for $9 which contained one egg, one pancake and two sausage links. The restaurant is very local, full of locals very patriotic, the restaurant is adorned with American flags and boasts Americana. The service is great, very friendly and welcoming. This place is an homage to patriotism and the 2nd amendment. We seemed out of place as tourists, as the banter between the sole waitress and the various guests seemed familiar and not small talk--but we were given great service despite the place being full with only one server. The breakfast menu is simple, with your standard fare of eggs, breakfast meats (ham, bacon, sausage), pancakes, American (not French) toast, hash browns, etc. The kids' menu is very reasonably priced. I hate paying $10+ for something my kids will only eat a few bites of plus an extra $3-4 for a drink. Yankee Doodle's kids menu is less than $3 for an egg and slice of toast and less than $6 for the most expensive item (and of course I don't remember what that was). Typical of a greasy spoon/diner, the feel was very laid back and casual. Even if our RV park wasn't across the road, we'll likely come back to Yankee Doodle's Cafe while we're staying in Alpine. We aren't the type to take pics of our food, but the kids loved the Mickey pancake and the red, white, and blue sugar. read more

In 2003 when we moved here, the decor was kind of fun. Now it's offensive . It used to be Americana, now it's Trump . It used to have great hours, now they are sketchy at best, and do not meet the needs of commuters during the off season. And the decor used to be SPOTLESS, now it is dingy and old. Used to have above average cafe food, now it's blah and tasteless. Past time for an upgrade, I won't eat there again. read more

Great breakfast spot when you need to pack in the carbs and calories for a full day of snowmobiling. The staff is always very friendly and attentive...couldn't ask for more. I always get the chicken fried steak and eggs which is awesome! I've tried a few bites from other dishes and everything here is on point! Clean spot to grab a bite and a bathroom break. We received a friendly greeting as we walked in. The service was great but not obtrusive. The food was delicious. We started with zucchini fries which were excellent. I had the mushroom swiss chicken sandwich. The chicken was juicy and tender, not overcooked. My friend had vegetarian chili and a salad. I tried the chili. It was spiced just right. It was a delight to find good vegetarian options in rural Wyoming. The decor is Americana which I loved. All in all a surprisingly great meal in Alpine, Wyoming. read more

One of the coolest diners I've been to! Patriot explosion in there! So much to look at! Alpine WY is a tiny little town. THIS is the spot for breakfast as far as I'm concerned. I loaded up on protein and carbs for a full day of travel. This place did not disappoint! Huge portions and excellent coffee! (There is another coffee shop attached with local roasts. I hit that too!) My server was incredibly warm and inviting and she told me her dad was cooking my meal! Loved the family vibe with a definite "locals favorite" appeal. My wife and I stopped by here one day about three weeks ago on our way to Yellowstone. The place had a good crowd but we were seated immediately. The menu was as expected for a diner/cafe with many great options. Our waitress was very friendly and polite and our food came quickly. The food was good and bonus points for the signs and pictures on the walls. I traded my pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce all over it, with my wife's beef sandwich since she could not eat it. Overpriced for the quality of the food! What really bothered me after looking around was the hateful signs, progun messages, and all the other signs of poor taste. Their signage makes it clear that you are not as patriotic as them, if you do not agree with. I really take issue with that. This place was a yummy...the biscuits and gravy were large portions and waffles were fantastic. I like my eggs dead and hard cooked and while it seems weird, they were wonderful. Breakfast out while on vacation in the Alpine area July 2019; the last couple of visits we'd made it to Yankee Doodle cafe. The waitress comes over to take our order, and i quickly order coffee w/cream; the husband milk with the meal. I peruse the menu and decide on the breakfast burrito hold the meat and salsa, as i'd had the an omelet there before ... and they are super huge, over sized. The husband order the ham steak (duh), two eggs hard, toast, and hash browns. I'm thinking to myself "dear Lord how can he receive better health reports from the doctor than me, how can this be." But it's true. I look around and i start sizing up the crowd, the tourists and the locals; somehow i don't categorize us. Somehow I'd say there's a good mix of people, and the place is about full. Most of the locals, the regulars are well known to the staff. Food arrives, this is a really large sliced in half burrito. His plates don't seem to stop coming. A refill on the coffee, his milk arrives, we begin to eat. Really nice, a full meal we'll not have lunch for a long while. Eventually i make my way to the bathroom while he pays. Gross, looks like someone peed (sprayed) all over the toilet seat and DIDN'T wipe up their mess. Ugh. Not the cafe staff's fault to not know about it as I'd crossed the dirty rotten scoundrel's path on their way out. Karma is all I think. Come on Karma. read more

If you find anything racist or anti-immigrant, you either don't know the meaning of the words or you're just looking for things to be p!ssed off about when it comes to conservatives. We chose this one *because* of the reviews. Not because we're flag-waving gun toters (we're not), but because we had to see what the fuss was about. Again, it was much ado about nothing. Now, about the restaurant. My mushroom swiss burger was big and delicious, but the tater tots are your garden variety spud nuggets. The sweet potato fries are waffle-cut and fairly thin, so there's not a lot of sweet potato taste. But they were still good. The onion rings were also good. Fortunately, our burgers came with the veggies on the side so that we could add what (and however much) we wanted to. As for service, we were greeted as we walked in the door (and no, not with a gun ) and received prompt attention. Our server, Mariah, was very friendly, efficient, and attentive. We had a good laugh about the Yelp "love letters" (as they call them) slamming their decor. This is a very good restaurant, and I recommend it. Complaining about Yankee Doodle's Cafe being too patriotic is like complaining that the Hard Rock Cafe doesn't have any bluegrass memorabilia. It's literally in the name, folks. If you think a place called "Yankee Doodle's Cafe" is going to cater to the left, you obviously misunderstand the name. read more

I'm a Navy Veteran and I served 22 years supporting and defending the U.S. Constitution. We enter the Yankee Doodle Café in Alpine Wyoming, somewhere south of Jackson Hole Wyoming on our way to Salt Lake city, where we encounter this sign on the door. The entire ceiling and back wall are covered with banners, signs, flags, and local memorabilia. One sign says "Long haired hippies needn't ought apply". Another says "Hippies use side door", Never saw those in Berkeley! Sign says "If you can read this, thank your teacher. If you can read this in English, thank your military", with a silhouette of an M-16 assault gun in the foreground. The wife and I enter, me in t-shirt, shorts, and sandals . Lady in the table across from me in a cowboy hat, wearing cowboy boots, with spurs. Well at least she didn't snicker at my womens light blue Chako sports sandals! Servings Texas size here in Wyoming, with both of us splitting a delicious $10 Denver omelette, with 4 pieces of toast, string potatoes, covered with salsa and cheese sprinklings. We are out of there is half an hour, with good value and good service. Gravel parking lot full of full size Ford, Chevy and Dodge pickups. Another five hours of driving our politically correct patriotic red Chevrolet Sonic rental sedan to Salt Lake City! read more
