Little Moose Lodge was conveniently located from our Airbnb so we decided to give it a try! I wouldn't write home about it but it "got the job done". Pros: - Nice patio plus plenty of time of room inside. - Friendly and quick service. The only con was that the food was very average. Not bad at all but something very expected. I got fish and chips, and fish was very good but "chips" were disappointing and I was super excited to try first potato in IDAHO! Overall, menu has a decent selection of food and drinks so there is something for everybody! read more

The Little Moose Lodge & Restaurant in Irwin Idaho (population 198) is one of those gems that is absolutely darling. Nestled in Targhee National Forest and next to Palisades reservoir. So ya just kinda know its gorgeous scenery will take you to a simpler time . Who doesn't need some of that these days. Lil' Moose is a destination not just a stop off! Their cabin style rooms are cute as a button, very clean and fresh and steps away from every outdoor experience you'd want in a mountain vacation. The restaurant and bar has this very cool down to earth vibe and the locals and staff are beyond friendly, inviting one might even say ;) The menus great, their BBQ is stuff of local folk lore!!! read more

This is definitely a nice stop. Although we didn't stay at the cabins they look lovely with their log siding and nice green area. The restaurant is a bonus. It has a lovely patio but we opted to sit indoors as it was sprinkling a bit. Rustic and clean with lots of tables plus a bar. The server was very nice but very soft-spoken so we had to ask her to repeat herself often. We were impressed with their menu and selected the salmon dip appetizer which was really yummy! They lightly fry the pita wedges so they are buttery good. We had the Melvin's Killer Bees lager which was cold and refreshing. I opted for the Duck breast and the Hubbs had the Dam burger. It was decent and cooked nicely. The duck breast was good but the peach topping was more of a sweet bbq sauce than a glaze. The mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were good. The salad was ice cold and crisp. We couldn't resist buttermilk pie for dessert. We definitely want to come back for breakfast. read more

My friend and I stopped here on our way home from a hike with our dog, because we heard dogs were welcome on the patio. The food we ordered was delicious, but what was even better was that the chef came out to talk with us. He took such pride in his food, and he even shared some samples with us. His pulled pork is incredible, and his house-made sauces are out of this world. We can't wait to go back and find out what else he has to offer! read more

The little place is nice and homey feeling. I wanted to love it from the reviews I saw, but I left feeling ill. My "medium" steak was almost raw and covered with a sweet, sticky bbq sauce. To me, a steak should be flavorful on its own with light seasoning- no sauce needed. The inside of my steak was almost cold and I couldn't eat anymore of it. The "garlic" mashed potatoes were dry and had no flavor too. I also ordered no onions in my food, and it came out with purple onions in the veggies. They said they couldn't separate them because they were pre-made. I was hoping for fresh, local food and left feeling sick to my stomach and unsatisfied. On the other hand, I ordered the wings and they were crunchy and had great flavor. I loved the sauce, and I was able to get two different flavors. My friend had the smoked duck and it was flavorful. The skin was a little burned. She liked the potatoes with the sauce from the duck and enjoyed her veggies. The sauce was flavorful and married well with the duck. I can only recommend wings. I don't feel well, but I contribute that to the poorly cooked steak. read more

Let's start with me going inside to ask someone a simple question... "excuse me, do you allow dogs on the patio?" I got a very rude reply of "what??" Thinking this guy didn't hear me, I repeated my question... he VERY rudely said, "No, what restaurants allow dogs at a table?!" I replied, "A lot of them on a patio." He continued to be very rude & berate me about dogs at a table in a restaurant. I just replied, "Wow, you are so rude." Y'all will not be getting our biz & I hope others find this post helpful about someone who represents that business. Lacking some serious customer service. Too bad. Drive 20 mi to West Side Yard in Victor- guess what? Great customer service, food, and... they allow dogs - I can't believe that other guy was such an asshat. read more

On a recommendation from our RV Hoast, Bobbi, we went and tried this newly opened eatery and man o man am I glad we did. The Little Moose restaurant was a great spot. The ambiance was very outdoor and the people we met who work here were amazing! Our server, Marcy, was one of the nicest people we have met on our trip so far. The lady tending bar and also serving was Karlie who also was a very sweet lady and very helpful. The pictures will show you the inside and the outside seating. We were one of the first people to get here for dinner but soon after the floodgates opened and the place filled up. No wonder, the food was hot and tasted great!! We both had the Louisiana soup. It was hot and full of flavor. We shared the fish and chips and this is the first place where I didn't have to send any of my food back because it was cold. We got 3 large pieces of fish with fries and coleslaw. Plenty of food for sharing. We also shared the cheesecake for desert. That was good also. I pray this place does well and a lot more people besides the locals stop in. Great stuff here y'all. They made Ed's top 10 spots to eat while on our 6 month tour of the country. I told the ladies to contact YELP and get a sticker for their front door. Had lunch at The Little Moose and it was outstanding! My salad was fresh, dressing was homemade and tasty. Hubby's fish and chips were delicious and the Scottish Ale was amazing! Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back when we visit Irwin again. read more

The cabins provide a great value for a late autumn stop-over after the summer crowds are gone and the restaurant is closed. I love Swan Valley in the late autumn and fishing the So. Fork of the Snake River is my passion. The Little Moose Lodge is my "go-to" choice for lodging. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. We walked in at noon for lunch with a group of 6 adults plus kids and we were VERY rudely, shortly, and abruptly told that they wouldn't serve us because our party was too big. We asked if we could be separated into two groups and the worker said "No! We are not equipped to handle this many people!" Very disappointing as it is my birthday today. We are staying with my in-laws who are locals. This place will absolutely not receive my business in the future. They could have nicely told us they couldn't accommodate us. Their rudeness when we were nothing but polite is what really shocked me. There were NO other people dining at the time we arrived. They were completely empty. read more

Huge disappointment! After reading reviews we decided to go here instead of the Roadhouse. First off, the menu was not the same as they have online. Prices were different. They didn't have a lot of the beer listed in the menu (the menu they gave us, that is). I asked for crispy French fries and what I got seemed to be a couple of days old and were certainly never crispy. They also had no soup and no de-caf coffee. Our waiter was very low key. He did what we asked (a side of bleu cheese dressing, refill of not decaffeinated coffee, etc), but just wasn't much of a people person. Maybe it was close to closing and he was thinking about home or he just had an off night. In any case, we won't be returning. read more

We arrived late after a busy day at Grand Teton National Park. The place was busy and I was a bit doubtful about how things would go, but I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the staff was stretched and stressed, they were friendly and quick to serve with a smile and pleasantries. We each had a side salad and split the duck entry. Seriously loved this place! They accommodated a reservation last minute for a very large group. All of their staff were incredibly polite and accommodating. You wouldn't have known we had 22 people because the service was so good, food was out fast, no one ever had an empty drink. The food flavor was so good! Dog Friendly! One of our favorite beers on tap (Melvin). Stopped by while passing through, sat outside on their awesome patio that has a goldfish pond/waterfall. Plenty of shade, or sun if you want. Paul went out of his way to bring out something special for the dogs (Don't want to say exactly what because don't want it to be expected by everyone, but trust me, dogs were super stoked!) I really enjoy this place for lunch. My gets the Swan Valley Salad and I always get the Burnin' Irwin Burger. This is seriously good food. The service is top-notch and the staff is very friendly. My one disappointment is that they won't make my Burning Irwin burger for me at dinner, even though they do offer a plain burger. Mozzarella sticks were fantastic. Burgers were decent. Fries weren't warm though. Service was good. My teen daughters thought our young male server was handsome. One thing that bothered us, was there was a little incident we heard from the kitchen. A man yelling. We asked a different server (a blonde woman) what was going on. She said the dishwasher got upset at the cook and they called the sheriff. Okay, fine, right. But she added..."He's Mexican" (the dishwasher that got upset and yelled). Now we all heard the yells. The man was clearly American (no accent). So he clearly wasn't from Mexico. What was that comment about? Little did she realize, both my daughters are 1/3 Mexican. I know Idaho is very white. I am not claiming the woman was racist, but seriously! What was that comment? Is being of Mexican ancestry an inditement against a man? We should all be careful what we say. We are San Antonians and love the Mexican culture and people. Being of "Mexican" descent is great in my book. read more
