Our group of 9 came here for a late lunch and we were seated right away! They were really accommodating with us as we originally sat inside but decided we wanted to sit outside because our friend is celiac and it probably wasn't great for him to be inside cause of the strong beer smell inside. (But that's not on them, that's totally on us! We didn't even think about it) The views were gorgeous! It's too bad the Palisades reservoir is so dried up right now because that would've made the view even more beautiful. After being on the road for 4 hours we were all really hungry so the food definitely hit the spot! I ordered "The OG" with fries. My husband got "The drunken Master" with tater tots. The tater tots are extremely crispy with very little potato inside, it was good just not the way we like are tater tots. The smell walking up to the restaurant was puzzling but then I realized it is a brewery and I was probably smelling that process. My friends and I stopped by here on a trip to Star Valley Ranch. We have a group of nine, and they were able to get us seated at two tables. At first we sat inside, but one person in our party is gluten free and the beer being brewed inside made it so he couldn't sit in there. They were able to move us outside. At first we were in the sun, but then they let us move into shaded tables. They were super accommodating. They are a Pepsi establishment not Diet Coke, so that was a bit of a bummer, but people in our group got drinks and enjoyed them. They had a slushie whiskey sour which was awesome. Everything liked their food. I got the chicken Caesar wrap with fries. It was delicious!!! My husband got the drunken master with tater tots. He really liked it. The tater tots were super crunchy. We're visiting the area and wanted a burger that didn't come in a bag through a window. Although we don't drink, we love bar food, so we decided to give Melvin Brewing a try. Can't say much about the interior, as we sat at one of the picnic tables outside. A server came and gave us all some water and took our drink order. After the drinks (sodas) came out, she took our order. Soon after, our food was served. Hubs and I both got burgers. Each had 2 juicy, but not greasy smash burger patties with just the right amount of seasonings and toppings. That's right--juicy smash burger patties. Is that possible? It is at Melvin Brewing. My mom got the fish tacos. She said they were delicious, just messy. Too much aioli in her opinion, but she wouldn't be mad if we ate there again during our stay. Kids were going to get burgers, too, but they saw the pretzel on the app menu and each had to get one. The pretzels are huge. They came with queso and IPA brown mustard. (The kids turned their noses at the mustard, but it was a great addition to my burger.). The queso wasn't chunky, but had some spice to it, but it wasn't overly spicy. If the queso came out of a can or jar, we couldn't tell. read more

All of it was just so amazing. We chose to stay in Alpine while we were visiting Jackson hole and there's not a ton there, so this is like the perfect gem! When you first drive up, the ambience is spot on for a brewery. It's right on the reservoir and you've got mountains in the background on all sides. The front patio has picnic tables and cornhole. And then when you walk in you get the big brewery feel because you can see all the brewing equipment in the back ,and then the bar area was well designed. indoor seating with huge bay windows to look out over the lake at tables or at the bar. My dad got the OG burger because he's quite picky. But it was juicy and a perfect burger. I like to try more unique things, so I went with the veggie burger. It was very fresh, homemade! It was soft, and the bottom bun got soggy. So it just needed a lil more texture maybe cheese on the bottom to keep bun dry Beer was refreshing, and I just loved the view. I have had Melvin a couple of times before, specifically when they were once located in Bellingham, Washington. That location has since closed and it looks like their headquarters in Alpine is the only location left. I always enjoyed their beer and figured I was due for a revisit and some time has passed and when I pass through Wyoming I like to hit up as many of my home state craft breweries that I can. This latest beer excursion with Melvin was all about IPA'S. I had three different ones and all three had their unique signature to them. It wasn't where one IPA ran into another in regards to flavor and it was hard to tell apart. So that was most appreciated because that scenario is often the case for me. One IPA I had was the 2X4 Dipa, a Double IPA which I liked. It was smooth and strong and the flavors of tropical sweetness and hoppiness was certainly there. The characteristic I liked best with this one was that it was strong. The Melvin IPA was the next one. What really got my attention with this one was it's piney personality. It also was sweet, fruity and hoppy. Also a very smooth bodied IPA. The last IPA was the Back in Da Haze, this was a New England IPA and had a good creamy body to it. The juicy, fruity and citrus presence was nice too. A good return for me and Melvin and a brewery I have every intention of returning to as I love to travel through the Alpine area and this corner of Wyoming is one of my favorite spots in the entire state. read more

The servers were friendly, however, it took over an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our order. It took over thirty minutes to receive the appetizer. The food was alright standard pub food, not amazing and definitely not worth waiting that long for. This is a bar first and foremost. Beer and alcohol came out fast and it did not take long at all. Anything else good luck if you get anything. They didn't check the tables much; don't blame them. How do you expect them to handle the kitchen not doing its job? All in all, if you are looking to drink beer and maybe get something to eat, then maybe try it otherwise avoid it not worth the money. read more

Such a great spot in Alpine! - Ambiance 5/5. There are so many seating options. Wonderful outdoor seating overlooking the lake and mountains. There is also a lawn area out there with yard games. Indoor seating has normal tables for small groups, large high top tables for large groups or community seating, window high top bar and the general bar seats. The majority of the building is the brewery which is quite massive!! It's a large open warehouse design. - Service 5/5. The staff here are awesome! Always friendly, always checking on you and are mostly local from what I can tell. - Food 5/5. I've only had a few things, the steak tacos and their signature burger. They were both good, no complaints. The menu is decent for a brewery in a tiny town. - Beer 5/5. This is why you're coming and it's worth it. So many options, all are very tasty! Nice seasonal selections and always fresh!! Make sure you try the Star Vally!! There was a girl there who was extremely rude and spent most of her evening just standing next to the end of the bar where the bartender was putting drinks for the servers with her hands in her pocket. I overheard her chastising the bartender on multiple occasions, noticable enough for multiple people to stop to watch. I assume she is some kind of manager, since she seemed absolutely unhelpful to the rest of the employees. I would be willing to return if I knew ahead of time that I would not need to interact with her or watch more of those uncomfortable interactions. read more

We're always on the hunt for a great brewery--and Melvin Brewing did not disappoint! Super cute spot with a laid-back vibe, yard games, and both indoor/outdoor seating. My husband is a hazy IPA guy, and while they only had Back In Da Haze on tap during our visit, it was solid. One of the staff recommended Purple Drift (not a hazy, but still a hit), and hubby ended up enjoying it almost as much. As for me? The I'll Be Your Huckleberry cocktail was light, refreshing, and perfect for a summer afternoon. We shared a giant pretzel and both had burgers--absolutely delicious and hit the spot. Great location, good beer & service, but when the brewers decide to dump the hops nearby it causes the place to smell like diarrhea; seriously. We stopped by with the intent of having a few beers on a Friday evening. Super cool location and the waitstaff were good; however, we left after practically downing our beers because we couldn't get over the horrible smell.
