This feels like a sports bar pretending to be more than it is. The booths and tables were run down, chipped, and dirty and there were a myriad of TV's and extensive bar space with a lot of people yelling. From the website and menu, I guess I was expecting something nicer. The outdoor area is super lovely. I just don't know why the rest of the place doesn't have the same feel. The food: -Smoked trout deviled eggs - I love smoked fish and roe, but these were so overpoweringly fishy that neither of us even wanted to eat the last one. -Tomahawk pork chop with potatoes, apple cider reduction, pickled brussels sprouts - the pork and reduction was fantastic, if small. Potatoes were great. Brussels sprouts were mostly leaves. You know, like when you take off the outer layers when you cook them because otherwise a bunch just fall off? Those. About 80% leaves with very few actual sprouts to bite into. -Braised buffalo cheeks with polenta, pearl onions, carrots, kale - the buffalo was great. Kale and carrots were fine. Polenta was bland. Onions were undercooked. -Flourless chocolate cake - best thing we had besides the pork chop, but that's not a surprise -Meat and cheese board - in a word, LAZY. The menu describes it as a "selection of cured meats and artisan cheeses, pepperoncini, seasonal jam, grilled baguette, seasonal fruit, marcona almonds." What we got: bread so crispy it was painful to eat; wedges of goat cheese and what I think was gouda with chiles; a little pile of salami slices and two *whole* slices of mortadella folded over, not cut at all, did they expect us to eat whole pieces?; and the not-at-all-seasonal fruit which was about one-sixth of a green apple, thinly sliced, and a single strawberry, sliced, but with the green tops still on (!!). The absolute kicker though: the "seasonal jam" was one of the worst things either of us have ever tasted in our lives. I asked what it was and one server said olive spread and one server said onion jam. It looked and tasted like neither. We have no idea what it was, but it tasted like sweaty gym socks. It had me questioning if it was made with durian. It was THAT BAD. Service was completely disinterested. We weren't even there at a busy time, but we had empty drinks for half the meal, and they couldn't even answer fundamental questions about the menu (including but not limited to the "seasonal jam" debacle above). I love love love the hotel. But I will not eat at this restaurant again. I am glad I changed our weekend breakfast plans to eat here and made our own breakfasts in our room instead.

You know that look that melted mozzarella gets when it's been sitting a while? Like that. The meatball itself was fairly good, red sauce was meh. -Pappardelle with pork and beef bolognese - unimpressed with the flavor of the meat or sauce and it was served barely lukewarm The bad: -Lemon chicken was overcooked - blackened and dry. Left on a few minutes too long for sure. I've spatchcocked chicken and cooked it perfectly like this dozens of times, and can only assume this one dried out because it was absolutely tiny. Like Cornish game hen size. And no lemon flavor, unless you count squeezing lemon on it yourself. But that is not lemon chicken. -Rigatoni with burrata and basil - we added Italian sausage to this and I am not sure what they put in there but it was sliced smoked sausage of some kind that was NOT good. But worse, it was cold. Everything in the bowl was lukewarm to cold which I almost tolerated because I was hungry, but I drew the line when I bit into a piece of sausage that felt like it just came out of the refrigerator. When we told the server, he said he would get us new ones, which he did, but those came out with burrata in cups on the side. Was this supposed to be a jab at me saying it was cold? Like they thought the burrata was what made it cold so they put it on the side? Regardless, it totally sucked trying to mix pieces of it back into the pasta - which was STILL lukewarm. It was like mixing in cheese curds. Terrible. And bottom line? The pasta and vodka sauce were not even close to good enough to justify this frustration. -The service - first night was nice, he was warm and fairly attentive, and offered us split bowls of pasta since he knew we were sharing. Second night was awful. It took 15 minutes to get water and order apps and another 5 to get bread. We said we were sharing the pasta and the chicken but not only did they not split it for us, it took two extra requests to get an extra bowl and large spoon to split the pasta and then an extra plate and knife to split the chicken. And those were all from flagging down the runner because our server was a ghost. Didn't introduce himself, took our order, and we basically never saw him again. Overall, a mixed bag. I might come here again out of convenience (i.e., while staying at Teton Mountain Lodge next door). But I will adjust my expectations accordingly.

Plenty early enough for us to still get on the road early for a leisurely drive through the Grand Teton in the morning. Our room was nice. Since we are elderly and our room was on the second floor (no elevator) , it was very convenient to have a room close to the stairs. We were amazed that there were no USB ports at all in our room. Who doesn't provide USB ports? The front desk staff were very helpful in providing information on nearby businesses where we could buy USB charging ports for our iPhone charging cables and our portable batteries. We enjoyed all the other amenities in our room. We loved the facilities themselves. The restaurant was outstanding! We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we crossed the threshold. Our server, Jamie, was superb in every way--her demeanor, her knowledge of the food items, her interest in the fact that this is our "Birthday Road Trip" and her quality service. We are so glad Jamie raved about the Huckleberry lemonade and encouraged us to try it. That lemonade was delicious! The food was outstanding ! The portions were so large, as much as we hated to, we couldn't finish those huge steaks or all of the corn appetizer. The garlic mashed potatoes and garlic beans were delicious. What was especially beautiful about the beans is that they were cooked just right. Jamie served us bread with what she explained is their signature whipped mascarpone cream with honey . It was so very good. We loved being in the restaurant and lingered after our dinner. We loved the ambiance, the service (Jamie helped us celebrate our birthdays), the music playing in the background, the room temperature and the fire burning in the fireplace.
