Lindsay walked us through all of our choices, and suggested a cork-backed product called Coretec in the end. It looks great, and is SO nice to walk on. We needed to get our house ready to sell after living in for 15 years. I wanted to put in new carpet since we had kids and dogs (one of which {the dog, ha} was a bit OCD and scratched a couple of holes down to the subfloor) but didn't want to invest a lot of money in case the new owners want something different. I checked Yelp for a good carpet company and contacted Flohr and Carpets by Conrad based on reviews. I had both companies come give me a quote for replacing all of the carpet in our 2250 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 8 closets, and a stairwell. The house is vacant since we put everything to storage to prep it for selling. I chose Flohr based on customer service, price, and authenticity. Corey Cormier visited with me within 1 day of contacting Flohr. He was so personable, chatting about niceties (photography, art, kids, school, special needs {my daughter}, moving) in addition to carpet. I told him my price range and he showed me several options that would work. I chose the carpet I liked and he had a quote via email within a day. I asked for a reference which he also provided with the quote. I contacted the reference and their experience was just as good as the reviews here on Yelp. We were still a bit above budget and Corey worked with me to get the price down a bit more, which I was so appreciative of. [Conversely, my experience with Carpets by Conrad was not pleasant. Their salesman had the used-car-salesman vibe and was condescending and patronizing. They came back with a price that was 25% more and they were not willing to negotiate at all. Not only that, but their owner inadvertently wrote back to me instead of the salesman and was snarky about me. Their loss!] The installation was scheduled for this morning. Flohr called yesterday to confirm and said the crew would be at the house around 9 this morning. The crew arrived before 8:30 and quickly had the old carpet and pad removed. I was worried about damage because we'd just had the floors, baseboards, trim, and doors painted, but they did an excellent job with the install. I cannot tell where the seams are, they left no major dings anywhere, and they vacuumed when they were finished. The house looks great! Roland, the crew's supervisor, came by to check in on things and bring a shim for a stubborn doorway. Every single person I dealt with at Flohr was professional and kind. Their customer service is wonderful. I highly recommend this company for your carpet needs! read more

Recently I had to replace some damaged tiles in my home. I had visited some other flooring stores in Austin and could not find anything close. I went to Flohrs and was greeted by Phil. I showed him the sample tile. Phil showed me the correct tile with no hesitation. When I returned to pick up a box of tile we discussed laminate flooring. Phil showed me several samples. I made an appointment for Phil to come over and give me a quotation and to try some of the samples in my home. The samples were about 18" square allowing us to really see how well it would meet our desired results. The quotation we received from Phil at Flohrs was with in our budget so we contracted with Florhs to do the job. The work crew showed up on time and went right to work. They were professional in every step of the process. Starting with the moving of our furniture, to the placement of the laminate flooring. I would highly recommend Flohr's to anyone wanting to have floor work done. read more

Do not use them for installation. Their contractor overloaded circuits in my house with their tools during the flooring installation, and they have refused to acknowledge the problem or help pay for about $800 in repairs including multiple appliances and new circuit breakers. We are considering legal action, as even certified letters from an attorney have gotten no response. The products are great, but they are not trustworthy, and any problems that arise will not be addressed. read more

We used them to install our coretec floors last year around April. During the process of installation I had no issues with them. They provide a 1 year warranty for installation. However, recently I saw gaps in the floor and I called them up to see if they can verify and fix it. I was told I would be given a call back by service manager in a week. 2-3 weeks went by no response. Then I went to their store in burnet road, i was again told I would be given a call back. 2-3 weeks passed by no calls no response. I called them again and was told they had some issue with their manager leaving and all and that I would get a call from them for sure within a week. Well guess what its been 3 weeks since that call too. At this point I think they are just waiting for 1 year of installation to paas so they can pretty much deny the warranty altogether. I had high hopes from them with their good yelp reviews but they turned out to be similar to others. read more

First off, I'd like to especially thank Karl for going out of his way to help us several times. He explained the different wood floor materials and process to us thoroughly and answered all our questions. We had a wood floor, tile entrance and wood stair case done, and because of an issue that wasn't Flohr's fault, our install time was delayed. We even had a change of material by us in the middle of the process, and Karl took care of it right away to insure our schedule for install was met. He answered the phone every time we called, even when he was on vacation out of state during Christmas week. (Sorry Karl, wouldn't have called you had I known) Our wood floor, tile entrance, and stair case are beautiful, and the install crew did an excellent job. They were done when they said they would be, and cleaned up as if they were never there. We plan to replace our upstairs carpeting and will be contacting Karl for that job too. I guess I cannot trust your installers. My house was quoted to be done in one day. At the end of the first day, still 10-15% work remained unfinished. I was still okay with it. I told the folks to come back today (Saturday) morning at 9am and finish it quickly. They came in on time. The main installer then sneaked out by leaving 2 inexperienced folks at my house to just wait around. Only 4 hours later, I found out that the installer had sneaked out. He apparently had gone to setup the job in another home. Really? Who the **** makes decisions like this? I am sure the installer did not make the decision. Some else in your company told him to go to the other house to install. Nothing more has been done in my house and it is 2pm on Saturday. I think you took me for a ride. This is ridiculous. I was told my work will be finished yesterday. Now we are 5 hours into today and no work is being done. If someone was working and still it is not finished, I would have at least understood. But you have two guys here who do not know anything about carpet(not their fault) and waiting for the installer to come from the other job. Is this how you manage work? Give me a break? I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Now I know the reason you want the whole money upfront. That way there is no accountablility. I hate what you did to me. I really hate it. You screwed up our entire Saturday. We have a family that lives in this house. You forgot that. Shame on you! Those of you in charge of decision making at your company is responsible for this mess and juggling of jobs. I am not faulting the hard working laborers. You take advantage of me and you take advantage of them. Shameful. Shameful. read more

Another excellent speedy job replacing additional flooring. The installers all knew their respective assignments and were very thorough and accommodating. We had to redo pretty much our entire house due to flooding, and therefor had less time than we would have liked. In the end, Brian and Chris came out to our house 4 - 5 times, and we did 3 trips to their showroom, all in about two weeks to make sure we came up with best solution for our needs. Despite my desire for some type of wood, the reality of 4 high-energy dogs took that option off the table. I said there was no way I would ever put a wood-grained vinyl on my floor and was leaning towards simulated wood-grain tiling, but the hardness and coldness of that didn't really thrill me. They introduced me to CORETec, which eventually won me over after I did a lot of Googling. They gave me the option of using my own floorboards and shoe molding, but in the end I went with theirs and it looks perfect. They asked me to provide the paint ahead of time and I did, no problems. And now the real star - Oscar and his install team. The professionalism, attention to detail, skill, and obvious concern that the job be done absolutely correctly blew me away. They spent close to 1/2 the total man-hours on this job i would estimate making sure the prep was done perfectly prior to laying the floor itself, and took great pains to minimize the dust of what is inherently a very dusty job (grinding wood and concrete sub-flooring to perfectly smooth and level). I will be replacing all my bedroom carpeting in a couple months (about the only flooring that wasn't replaced this time). There is no doubt who will get that work after the experience I had with them. read more

Shandeli, at Flohr, kept me from making some big mistakes with my re-flooring projects. And she did so with tact, knowledge, and attention to detail -- plus timely bidding. I wanted to replace carpet in my living room and two smaller rooms with hardwood; plus, part of those areas had old oak flooring I thought needed resanding. The bottom-line is that Shandeli thoroughly walked me through my options, explained all the pros and cons, and am I ever happy with the results of my informed decisions. Part of my wood floors were "resurfaced" as opposed to being resanded. I ended up recarpeting rather than installing wood flooring that would never have looked right with my current hardwood areas. The carpet I finally decided on looks fabulous, and my dog is happy with my decision. [He did not want to be slipping and sliding on the only carpeted areas in the house!] It is rare to find a business person who tries to talk you out of choosing the most expensive option because she knows you'll be unhappy in the end. It is also rare to have everyone involved in the project -- sales staff, installers, the fellow who gingerly removed a custom bannister, store owner and other staff -- be so knowledgeable, polite, and have interpersonal skills dealing with confused or picky customers. I received bids from three other highly rated flooring businesses in Austin. Shandeli was the only one who did what she said she'd do when she said she'd do it -- from bidding to installation. Her people skills are stellar, because I was not an easy customer. She understands the nature of her business -- from detailed bidding and material choices, to design concepts and installation challenges. This is the type of experience that truly earns my 5-star rating. read more

I'm at a loss as to how a company with so many positive yelp ratings can flub a job, promise to make it right, and then simply disappear into the night as though nothing ever happened. After 7 years in our house I decided that for my wife's birthday, I would surprise her and replace the carpets and install hardwood flooring in a couple of areas, ideas she had previously talked about. Of course, to win the sale, Flohr customer service was great. Daniel offered to come to my home to take measurements, bring samples and provide a quote the same day. First impressions go a long way, and given that I had just talked to a handful of other flooring companies, I was impressed. Daniel came over, I chose what we wanted and the deal was done. An install date was also agreed upon. On the install date, the carpet crew was was efficient and thorough. They moved furniture, did a good job with the installation, moved back furniture and cleaned up after they were done. They left a clean new carpet in their wake. The hardwood flooring job and crew, on the other hand, left much to be desired. - Apparently, insufficient wood had been ordered, and when the crew realized this and had to call to request for additional wood in order to complete the job, they ended up getting delayed, so were rushing the job at the end of the day. - Left their areas dirty and messy. I had to go behind them to clean up the dirt that they has simply swept to other parts of the house, and I had to clean up the layer of dust they left on everything in their area. - They managed to smear flooring adhesive on the office desk as well as the floor mat as they were moving them, and thus damaging them. - Left the work unfinished. They failed to install skirting board in an area. Additionally, because they didn't bring enough transition strips, they left gaps exposed between hardwood flooring and existing tile, with promises to return the following week day to complete the work. Needless to say, those were empty promises. Daniel showed initial concern about the problems, asked for an email documenting the concerns that he could forward to the owner, and came over the following day and took pictures of the problems, and promised that they would be taken care of. Again, empty promises, even after he acknowledged the danger posed by the gaps due to missing transition strips in high traffic areas in a house with toddlers and children. No follow ups, no progress reports, or simple courtesy of a status update. Now that that they have pocketed the $5K, Daniel no longer answers my calls. The owner is of course unreachable as he is apparently "out of state indefinitely". I feel like I just left a used car lot . Such a disappointing experience! I have reached out to another contractor to come and finish this job, with a lesson learned about first impressions. I'm glad others had a better experience with Flohr, and wish I could offer similar glowing review. Instead mine was was just such a disappointing experience that no one cared to make right. read more

Eventually, Flohr made right on the issues we had with the kitchen hardwood issue. It was a pain to deal with and I feel that I would have been strung along indefinitely without having to gripe on Yelp about it. Nevertheless, I'm thankful to Brian for making good on this project. I will say that there seemed to be a lack of communication in most things involving Ricardo. Hopefully he will learn to be extra communicative with the customer on when he or his crew plans to be at the customer's house - and to not randomly show up without calling ahead of time... or rescheduling the crew to go the customer's house without OK-ing it with the customer first. read more

As a sales manager who is a stickler for customer service, whether selling or buying, Phil, and Flohr, are top notch. My wife and I recently purchased a new construction home and decided against having the builder install our hardwoods for multiple reasons, most notably lack of expertise and cost. The same week we closed I embarked on my mission to find a flooring company, ad nauseam as my wife will tell you when I take due diligence to levels not seen. The short list was three, and out of that three Flohr, due in large part to Phil, was a no brainer. Phil's knowledge and their competitive price won our business and we could not be happier. The installers, too, were masterful. I am the type of person to see imperfections that drive me nuts, but there were zero.The family installation team ripped up carpet, tile and hardwoods that were pre-existing in the study. Yes, per Phil's recommendation (didn't push it on us...we asked his opinion) we pulled brand new hardwoods and in hindsight so grateful we did. Phil's recommendation for a bit lighter and varied plank wood was exactly what the large first floor, with tons of interior stone, needed. I did your due diligence for you! I met Phil Powell at Realty Round Up. I was actually thinking of putting in wood floors in my personal residence. I talked to Phil, he came out and measured the rooms and brought several samples. I decided on one of them. He stopped by the next week and brought some other possibilities but I still felt the first one was the best. We set up the installation for Tues, Nov. 6. I talked to Oscar and told him they could come at 7AM. They were there promptly at 7, started taking up the carpet immediately. They had the two rooms ready and were smoothing out the slab by 8. They also replaced all the baseboards in the rooms and any areas connecting to the rooms. They were quick and accurate. Cleaned up as they went and were finished by 12:30. I was amazed. The shopping process at Flohr was painless, Phil was helpful, did not try to upsell us on the material and kept the appointment to measure the room on time. . When the installers arrived (on time) we knew we had made the right decision. The installation is the key to the job and the guys were extremely professional and efficient. They quickly began the job and I was impressed when I noticed they placed a window fan in the room to take out the dust that is created with a flooring job. We worked with Flohr to install vinyl plank in our upstairs (master bedroom, 2 kid bedrooms, game room, master bath and all the closets). We have pets and children, and carpet just could not work for us anymore. I worked with Chris, who listened to what I was looking for (easy to clean, won't absorb smells, economical) and explained to me about vinyl plank. It looks just like hardwood (to me), is much cheaper, and (most importantly!) is waterproof. Chris came by right away to give me an estimate and was really helpful and patient with me as I waffled between different bids and installation decisions. We ended up choosing Flohr because they were the best price, extremely responsive, and came highly recommended by family. We were able to schedule the installation right away (Katrina in the scheduling department is great!), and the crew arrived exactly on time and worked all day (13 hours nonstop!) to finish and clean up in one day. Oscar was the crew leader, and he was friendly and instructive - explaining the process, double-checking the plans with me before beginning any work, and keeping me updated to make sure I was satisfied throughout the install. I feel really secure because Chris has told me if we have any issues he will work with us to get them fixed. We haven't had any, but I know Flohr will be there if we do. read more

Absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. Once we made the decision to get carpet installed, we wanted it quickly. We started at Home Depot and Lowe's and were frustrated by the lack of knowledge of the salespeople. We tried a different independent seller on Burnet, but left after 20 minutes when neither of the 2 salespeople acknowledged us. Walked into Flohr, and Brian offered help right away, but left us alone to browse at our request. When we wanted his help, he jumped in and spent an hour explaining all the pros/cons of different carpets, asking detailed question about our home, family, and lifestyle. He said he could come measure the next day, and we placed a down payment at our request. He called us a few hours later and said he would be able to come out that afternoon, so we wouldn't have to take any more time off off work. He came out and measured quickly despite insisting we didn't need to lock up our cats and dogs (they all loved him, which means a lot). We scheduled the installation for a few weeks later, and the 2 men who did it were fantastic. It was a whole house install, including stairs, but they stayed for 12 hours and got it all done so we wouldn't be inconvenienced for another day. 3 months later, no flaws seen and we still love the new carpet! read more

I hired Flohr to obtain and install an engineered hardwood floor in the central areas of my house. I am extremely happy with their level of professionalism and expertise. Their senior representative, Sherry, has been in the profession for over 40 years and her experience and that definitely made a difference. I had very custom, nonstandard requirements and the job needed to fit in well with the other parts of the house. No other contractor I approached had a fitting solution, and I appreciated Flohr's knowledge of the construction in the locality to help me arrive at an ideal engineered hardwood flooring installation solution that does not sacrifice quality. Based on the other reviews, Flohr must be better at wood and carpet than they are with tile. My experience was in a word, unfavorable. I was quoted a higher price than competitors for a travertine installation(approx 700 sq ft), but was assured their tile was of superior quality and that only professional craftsmen were utilized, so decided to pay a slight premium and went with Flohr. Was I shocked when a bunch of kids showed up to do the job. Literally, one of the crew was in his 20's and the rest were teenagers. Issues with tile spacing and leveling were prevalent and when I complained, the owner came to the job sight and attempted to tell me that it was the natural imperfection of travertine that could have thicknesses varying up to 1/8". I was able to set a 4 foot long straight edge on one tile and it would spin freely. How's that for quality tile and a "professional" installation. For the record, it was not the material but the crew contracted. Many tiles had to be reworked and I had to take time away from work to be sure the job was done correctly. I was not offered anything for my trouble, not even an apology. Truly an unpleasant experience with a company I would not recommend. read more

i used flohr for around 1300 square footage of carpet and can t be happier! they have the carpet i want and give me a really competitive price on it. the sales person i hv been in contact with is always there for me and really informative.the better part is the installation service,mario and his team did a fantastic job! he is friendly and professional. he arrived on time at 9 am and worked really hard for literallu the whole day.there are installers out there who skip a step or two on power strech but thats not them, i can tell that they made sure every step is followed to install the carpet even though it is hard to do on the stairs. all in all, a very happy customer! read more

I had a most poor experience. Started out good with Chris. I paid up front for all cost as Chris said this is a turn-key job. Well, I had to wait a month for my floors to come in (while they had all my money). What arrived was a totally different color. I had to call twice that afternoon to follow up on next steps. Nothing. Next day at 1:30 I had heard nothing so I called to get my money refunded based mainly on no customer service and they were doing nothing to accommodate me in any way. Brian the owner was very harsh and stressed over the phone because I wanted my money back, faulting the Rep., which has nothing to do with me, as I told him that is between him and his business. My problem is no one was taking care of my problem, offering no solutions....the phone call ended when I told Brian I am not your bank (since he had my money, large amount for a month), he told me to PISS OFF and hung up. The Rep called me, to apologize to me for the way Brain spoke to me as he was sitting right there in his office getting his behind chewed out. I have never been treated with such poor business behavior and would never recommed this Flohr store to anyone. In addition, they do not price anything visibly. They go work their numbers and tell you your cost. I started again shopping, all reputable stores show pricing. Tomorrow, my new floors will be installed, that is one week since that horrible waiting game with Flohr. If you enjoy a good nightmare this might be for you. read more
