I'm a new runner, never thought I'd like it now I look forward to it. Now that I'm running each morning, I needed to invest in some good running shoes to protect my body from the impact of running on pavement. I ordered countless shows from Amazon based on articles I read online. None of the shows I ordered got right, and part of the problem was I didn't know what they should fit right, all I knew was that they didn't feel right. Finally I decided to go to Fleet Feet Plano where the young man was helpful but they didn't have the shoe he suggested in my size which turned out to be a blessing. I then went to the Richardson store where the selection was bigger and they had a machine to measure my feet. Alex was a game changer for me. He suggested a different size than the guy from the previous store but the previous guy didn't do a measurement. I learned so much from Alex and he was so patient in answering all my questions. I don't know whatever happened to the staff here. Never have I ever experienced such blatant racism. Came here with my family earlier today and the experience was so crappy I'm deciding to write about it. The associate who approached me very rude to me -- no greeting, just a "did you need something?". If I weren't so surprised, I'd have shot back with "no, I just thought I'd come in just for funsies!" I was sat in the furthest back. I know we have to be careful with distancing but there were two other benches closer to the front on which I could've been seated. I waited around for half an hour just looking at each of the associates helping white families that walked in after I did in hopes to receive some help. Nothing. I remain unattended. Only come here if you are very very white. Otherwise, do not waste the trip. read more

Great selection of athletic wear and shoes. When we walked-in, there was a lack of customer service. Absolutely no one greeted us. We were in there for 20 minutes before Cooper approached and kindly helped us. We thanked him for his help and decided to look around a little longer prior to checking out. When we were finished, we walked over to the register and waited for about 5 minutes before someone walked over to help another customer (which was fine, because they were with them prior), so we get in line behind them to check out; when the employee completed the person's ahead of us transaction, he walked off, leaving us at the register. So we had to find someone else to help us. Coincidentally, Cooper was walking out and again, he kindly helped us. Oh and not to mention, we spoke to another employee, who came off as annoyed by our presence. We felt so completely uncomfortable. We will never return to this location again. read more

I needed to do a return of an online purchase and went to the Richardson location. I got someone who acted like she'd worked there a while but had no clue what she was doing. It took 10 minutes for a return that should have taken 5 max. She was on the wrong register, couldn't figure out how to put the returned product in etc. then she forgot to give me any kind of return receipt. I had to ask for my original paperwork back. I have always gone to the Plano store until this trip and they know what they are doing for both online returns and in store sales. When I first got back into running last year I went to Luke's Locker and had a good experience getting fitted, but after six months in the shoes I was having issues when I ran. Instead of getting fitted again I just bought shoes based on someone's suggestion and those didn't work much better. That's when a friend suggested getting fitted by Run On! and as soon as my 2nd set of shoes started to wear out, I headed straight over there. The difference in fitting is likely based on the person doing it, but I was lucky to get a great person at Run On! this time who agreed with my self-diagnosis that I pronated inwards and she was able to get me into a set of shoes that helped stabilize me. I visited Run On last week and again today. Suffering from a bone spur in my heel, I've been told by my doc that I have to wear tennis shoes everywhere... this is a tough request as: 1. I loathe tennis shoes on me so I rarely wear them. 2. I've had maybe 3 pairs in the course of my lifetime and have been unimpressed with all of them....dramatic much? I know. :-D My friend recommended Run On for best price, quality, and service in the area. Since I basically know absolutely nothing about sneakers, I trusted her judgment. I was assisted by a team member named Eric, and I initially found him to be pretty quiet; however, the more I sat and talked with him, the more he revealed just how much he knows about shoes, which is A LOT. He methodically tested different shoes on me, intuitively narrowing down exactly what I needed that would work for each concern I had until we settled on 2 different styles of shoes and an insert that helped take pressure off my bone spur. I am so amazed by his level of detail and understanding of my needs. I'm a detailed person...overly so at times, haha. That being said, I greatly appreciate this quality in others (especially those who interface with clients). Eric was also super accommodating and patient when I wanted to try on the same 2 pairs of shoes over and over again to be certain which one would be perfect for me. This was my first time at a RunOn establishment, and I was very impressed. Aside from sports, I'm a very new runner. When I walked in, I was greeted by a nice sales associate named Rowdy. His approach was fantastic. He asked me about my running habits, goals, measured my feet accurately, and even was able to tell what shoes and insoles would be best for my flat feet. He brought out some great selections for me to try and he found me a great pair that I love! I've ran twice in them so far and have zero buyers remorse!! poor customer service! The store is dark with very little lighting. I bought a pair of shoes for walking before Christmas. After 6 weeks the treads started wearing down, and was a poor fit. Keep in mind this shoe was recommended by the sales person based on my need. I took the shoes back showing the poor wear and explained my others issues. Sales agent took them to the back and "explained to Manager" the answer I got was sorry there is nothing they could do. Sigh, I wanted to give them another chance but it seems this is just the way they operate. So, the first time I went with my father since his PT recommended Hoka's for his knees. No one greeted us as we walked in, no one said "welcome be with you in a minute" nothing. We stood in the store for about 10 mins (I'm an engineer so I tend to time things, started my watch and ... alas). My dad was tired from a long day so said we should leave. It should be noted there store only had ONE other customer. Flash forward to today. Same thing. Got to the store. No acknowledgment, no greeting. I get that today I wasn't looking my best but you can't judge someone by their Sat morning look. This time instead of waiting around I just tried shoes on myself against the wall. I asked the other person who was actually being attended to how long it took for anyone to acknowledge her, she said it took a minute and when someone came back onto the floor she kindly asked them to attend me. Unfortunately I've already tried on the shoes, I shop based on service not price. Since I know how it fits I'll go ahead and order from another store online because I did like the shoes I tried. You've missed out on a $170 sale. That may not be a lot, but over time (especially as more people shop online) service counts for something. Be better. read more

I am seeing a lot of negative reviews, but I found this location to be great! I had purchased 2 pairs of shoes on the 11th. I was not happy after walking in both, and 2 days later I came into return. The young man helping me out was AWESOME! He worked with me to find me 2 new pairs of shoes. Mark was polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about my problem, and possible solutions. He measured and analyzed my feet, stance, and walk before getting started. We tried sizes, styles, and brands, with and without insoles until I found the right one. I have actually been pain-free all day, and this never happens! Ths store was clean, crowded, but appeared to be organized. Run On! Richardson was my first tantalizing foray into the world of running. My first time in the store was back in March 2006. I remember the incident clearly like it was yesterday - I got a recommendation from my GF at the time to visit a specialty running store and get fitted for running shoes. I walked in, nervous, and was greeted by George, a British chap with an unmistakable accent. He had me take off my shoes and socks, roll up my pant sleeves, and took foot measurements. Also had me walk around barefooted, ie, a gait and pronation analysis. Ended up fitting me into some Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6's, which ran about $130. Also got the Brooks clothes - shorts, shirt, and some socks. George was extremely helpful, recommended many different pairs of shoes, and gave me some beginners running tips. The thought of a matching running outfit made me feel like a real runner...I felt...like a badass. Later that day I went out for what can only be described as a painful 1 mile...and shelved my running shoes for about 3 months. Why run when I can sit on my butt and play XBox? I know what I'd rather do! Went back into Run On early in the summer to get some supplies and ran into George again, who saw the newbie mistake of trying to run too far and getting frustrated with it. Gave me some great beginning advice to ease me into it. I started running again during the summer/fall, and then started running religiously 6 days a week all the next year. Entered into my first two 5K's late that year and got hooked. Long story short, I've since completed more 5K's than I can remember, multiple 10/15K's, about 10 half marathons, and 5 full marathons. (A lot of which were sponsored by Run On!) I owe my lifestyle change and passion for running for the first and second time that I went in and talked with George, who, is a regular fixture and staple of the Run On! company. He can be seen at every race Run On puts on coaching others or running himself. A lot of fun to talk to and just listen to his multitude of running stories. I've gone into the store countless times for various packet pickups and just to shoot the breeze and pickup supplies - the employees there are outstanding and have a definitive passion for running. They love seeing everyone from a newbie just starting out to elite level racers...their goal is to help people run, period. It's not about getting someone into the most expensive shoe just to make a sale, or the shoe that the person wants to buy. Sometimes common sense has to take over and they'll recommend the right shoe for you, versus that fancy racing flat you saw someone wear at the lake. They do a great job of trying to fit the right shoe to the right person. I've also had the opportunity to participate in many of the social events Run On! puts on with their marketing agency - DFWruns. They're a fantastic way to socialize, network, and make new friends. Very informative! My mother's doctor recommended she go here after she had surgery on her knee, so today my brother and I went and got measured and fitted properly. It was kind of like going to the optometrist at one point "number 1 or number 2?" The sales specialist was really helpful. He shared his knowledge with out just trying to bombard you with numbers and studies to make you feel stupid, just let you know that there's reasoning behind what he's saying. He was able to watch me walk in a straight line and see the rolling tendency of my ankle and recommend 4 different options to counterbalance that and work with my very high arch. I feel bad about the two single star reviews people listed on here, definitely was not my experience and the other customers there looked pretty satisfied as well. I feel great about my purchase - I used to just, walk into a sports store like Dick's or Academy and pick out what style I liked, but now I have a shoe that actually works with my body. read more

Great experience at this Run On! location. The sales guy watched me do a little jogging in my bare feet, and had me try on some shoes for my pronation. He gave me a nice rundown of all the shoes that would work well for my feet and running style, and I never felt like he was trying to upsell me to a more expensive shoe just for the sake of making a bigger sale. The sales staff will ask you a lot of questions and make you do some things, but it's all in the name of finding you the right pair of shoes. My only gripe is their lack of selection of shoes with wide or extra-wide widths. I did eventually end up buying a pair of shoes here, but returned them later when I found another pair at the New Balance store more to my liking. Return process was a cinch and no questions asked. You'll find plenty of good advice with great customer service here. Unfortunately for me, EEEE width for over-pronators is not their specialty. read more

The boyfriend and I came in here to get some new running shoes. We originally bought some from the Nike store, but after one run we found out that we had gotten the wrong type of shoes. The staff was excellent and the older gentleman heard our story, examined how we walk and then found shoes that were perfect for us. Because we had just boughten the Nike shoes he told us to see if we could exchange them and just get the shoes at the Nike store. He said he would rather us get a good deal because we had boughten them from the outlet store in Allen. Because he was honest with us and gave us his time and advice we will definitely be going back and purchasing our running shoes from him. The store is clean and open and easy to navigate through. I went to Run On! after a visit to my podiatrist and am unbelievably impressed with my experience. The manager Ashley helped me for 30-40 minutes, listening to my specific request from my doctor. She was very professional and knowledgeable and even helped me find a pair that was on sale. Before I left, she also re-did my laces so that it helps relieve pressure on a bone spur.
