I ran my first local 5k race this morning and managed to come in 4th overall female and 1st in my age group. I immediately thought, "NEW SHOES would have made podium!" I was 9 seconds from it. My trainers were so worn out. I feel like I just purchased them but I've been using them for my runs and walks and knew it was time for a new pair. I walked over to Fleet Feet this afternoon to inquire about new insoles and shoes. Fleet Feet Plano provided the BEST service!!! We did a few measurements and reviewed my analysis then went over several options. The shoe I've ran in for years, a different model and a shoe with a larger toe box I'd wanted to try. Once selecting a new model we moved onto several insole options. I'm a Brooks girly through and through and stuck with this brand but a different model this go around. New city, new shoes, new model, new insoles! She's ready! Maybe in the coming months I can squeak out an overall 1st 2nd or 3rd haha ;) If you're in need of a great new shoe, you absolutely should come into this store. Highly recommend. I learned they have weekly Tuesday social 5k runs at 630p and second Tuesday of the month ShackShack 5k runs. Totally have to hit that ShakeShack run that ends in a Fred shake or beer! Great store! I've been to a few of their locations around the country, and they are fairly similar. This one is on the smaller side but still has a wide selection of products, although not as many duplicates on display. They do have frequent social runs as a bonus and even hosted a neat quarterly event with raffles from different health/fitness/restaurant vendors and a run with Hoka shoe demos. I always get my insoles from Fleet Feet due to their comfort, personalization, and durability and purchased one when they had a promotion. Unfortunately the staff member did not put the correct discount in and overcharged me, but after realizing and going back, they were able to fix it, although their tone in doing so suggested an attitude. The staff were very friendly when I was making the purchase, so I'm hoping it was a one time interaction. Overall great outreach with the running community and opportunities to try new products. Consistently good products, but hit or miss service.

This place is huge--two floors of sporting goods wonderland with a giant fish tank arch on the first floor! There are tons of Texas and Dallas Cowboys-themed photo ops, a literal Ferris wheel inside the store, and a massive café with food options, beef jerky bar, and tons of fudge and candied nuts. Bonus points for the staff--everyone I came across was genuinely kind, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there :)

Then he calls out the name of someone without even looking at me and proceeds to get into a lengthy conversation and I am back at square 1. 30 minutes, made it to the front, no acknowledgment of my existence. All of you people are not qualified to take change at a toll road. She explained, "The card will be good at all Nordstrom stores." I said, "Okay." So, I answered a few questions & voila! My new acct was opened on the spot. I was given a coupon as a courtesy for opening the new acct. After she rang up the items, my husband & I left the store. However, I had to go back in b/c she had forgotten to apply the discount! My husband went to the car and I went back in...ALONE! That was when the entire customer service experience completely changed!!! As long as my husband had been standing next to me, the employees smiled & were overly-friendly. When I stood in line to get the discount applied to my purchase, everything changed! They refused to apply the discount!?!?! I asked for a manager. When the "manager" got there, she refused to apply the discount as well. I explained that we had just purchased the items three minutes ago. I explained to her that her employees were polite to me as long as my husband was standing next to me. When I went back in ALONE...everything with her employees had shifted. Still...she refused. At this point, I began taking notes & asking questions such as, "Can you give me the number for Nordstrom's corporate office?" What is the name of the regional manager?" I asked any pertinent questions that might help me understand why the Nordstrom Rack was happy to open a new account but unwilling to apply the discount as advertised. The biggest lie that was told by their "manager" was that she didn't know the name of the regional manager. My husband & I later found out that the regional manager's office was housed in this particular location! Do you really expect customers to believe that a regional manager who offices out of your store is unknown to your managers? As a result of being lied to over details that don't really require lies, I closed my account with them after 7 days. Plus, my husband closed his account as well. We do NOT reward businesses that lie to us. There are too many other retail shops in our area that treat their customers with courtesy & respect. Nordstrom Rack & Nordstrom employees aren't trustworthy. Nordstrom's liars create unnecessary problems that aren't really worth the additional trouble. "Managers" who lie so easily about public information such as regional managers or other corporate contacts are NOT to be trusted. Nordstrom is supposed to be high-end experience that carries high-end merchandise. However, the ease with which their deceptive employees lie over such small issues is very concerning to me.
