I came in at approximately 1:30 PM on Tuesday 1/20/2026. Purple hoodie and hat with my wife and child. During our time in the store, I received zero assistance from staff. At least four employees walked past us without acknowledgment. Several appeared visibly shocked when we entered. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I am a Black male with a Caucasian wife, and the lack of service was noticeable and unsettling. Management should review the camera footage from the moment we walked in. Staff members actively assisted other customers while completely ignoring us. This was disturbing and unacceptable. I cannot believe behavior like this is still happening in 2026. I will go through proper channels to ensure this gets cleaned up. I have left a Google review as well read more

I try not to leave bad reviews but my experience tonight was not a good one. I first come in to see the deals they have on but when I was in the medium section they were all mixed with different sizes. And then I finally find a shirt. I go with my buddy to the front to check out and I'm standing there in line for a fat minute. Then I ask "is there a problem with the shirt" and she goes "I'm just trying to make sure it's that price" when there was a sticker on it stating the price and it had the brand on the sticker. I don't know if she was discriminating against me because I don't look like your average shopper. But it took so long I just told her to not worry about my shirt and didn't buy anything. This place really made me feel welcome. I already don't like how tightly packed it is but this was my last straw with this place. I came to Cavender's Boot City looking specifically for Circle E candles. When I did an online search for these candles, I was looking where they might be sold locally and Cavender's was listed! I was actually down in Fredericksburg, TX last month and was able to smell a bunch of different fragrances in their shop. I decided to pick up a couple of candles for a gift. I knew the recipient does not like really flowery sweet scents so that's why I wanted to find them locally instead of just ordering online directly from Circle E. I found the candle display and saw that they only had about six different candle fragrances in stock. I sniffed all of them and chose the two that were not super sweet smelling. I hope they enjoy their gift when they open it on Christmas morning! read more

Love shopping here. Cavender's does not train their seasonal staff well. She didn't know the product she was selling. She should have been shadowing another employee. All good, it didn't change my mind on what boots to get. I did the research before hand, I knew what would work best for me. Boots go with everything, it's an essential for Texas living. Boots are leather, with a man made sole, initially the boots were too snug, one foot more then the other. I used a plastic bag to slide my foot into the boot. I ended up with a solid fit, but stuck with a bag on my foot. I highly suggest you go to a boot store like this one, try on that boot, to find that perfect fit. Especially, if you plan on buying boots on line. This prevents you sending the boots back more then once. The price difference between a store bought boot and amazon is about $80. After walking around the house I had a pretty good fit. It feels like the leather is part of my foot! On Ariet's boots, I suggest one 1/2 size smaller then what you normally wear. Maybe more. Normally we shop Boot Barn simply because it is easier to get to. I have not been to Cavender's in years, but decided to head there instead because my perception was it wasn't the Target of western wear like Boot Barn and figured we'd get a little better choice. BUT, super bummed out on the kids' boot section. Most of the kids' boots were made in China. WTH?! Found one style made in Mexico, and one made in India. With several major retailers based in Texas - Nocona and Justin to name a few - how can we not find some American made boots for my ten year old? Literally racks and racks of Chinese "cowboy boots." Ended up with a pair of Indian boot which I suppose is marginally better than China. Would have preferred the Mexican boot (at least they are actually in this hemisphere), but they didn't have the size we needed. Seriously disgusting that there were no American made boots for kids. My daughter needs a new pair of boot, and we'll head back to Boot Barn for her so we can buy not-Chinese/India boots. People were friendly. Went to this store today to purchase a birthday present. I assumed that Cavender's would be like most other stores during the pandemic and require masks for employees and customers. Oh no, no, no. About half the employees wore masks and the other half either had the down around their neck or didn't have one at all. About half the customers were not wearing masks either. As a diabetic I will only go into places that are diligent about protecting customers safety. Needless to say Cavender's is not following CDC guidelines and isn't concerned about customers health and safety. No way I'll be shopping here again. read more

I've been to a few boot stores and never had a great experience. I didn't expect much when I walked in. The staff here is very friendly. Delbert helped us out. He was very knowledgeable in boots and the inventory. He gave us time to shop around and was available when we had questions. He was fun to talk to so it made shopping fun. He gave helpful input when we were deciding between items. The store is laid out well. I spent most of my time in the Men's and Children's section instead of the Women's (boo!). Since I am moving to Texas I thought I would look for some boots and a cowboy hat. When I walked in I was shocked at the size of the store. It was like a western Walmart! Boots, hats, western clothes, western home furnishings. They have it all. The only complaint I have is the clothes aren't fat people friendly, Unless you are skinny you aren't getting clothes here. The employees are not very helpful either. Maybe it's because I'm fat and they knew I couldn't buy anything so they didn't bother with me. Only one employee Chuck talked to me and did his best to answer my questions. If it were in my power I would give Chuck a raise and hold him as an example to the other employees of this establishment on how to treat a customer. A great place for anyone looking for a large selection of Cowboy boots in Texas. You'll be hard pressed to not want to try on more than one boot and then making the hard final decision. The staff here are friendly and are easily identifable by their Texas Ranger look. My girlfriend was having a difficult time with picking up her first boot but we were helped by a very attentive sales person named Chris. He helped picked out some boots for her and also shared a number of tips and advice in making a decision and caring for the boots. Definitely great information for the both of us and my girlfriend left with some brand new red Corral boots that was also $20 off. I had to come here a second time after being convinced that my trip to Texas would be wasted if I didn't pick up my own. While I didn't get the same attentive sales staff I didn't have a problem with finding my boot size that are organized in aisles for the men (Women are organized by brand it seems). After a half hour of searching I found the right boot for me from Ariat. All in all, we each spent about $170 after taxes on our new boots which were comfortable and well worth it. I can definitely see why it's better to be able to try on these boots versus buying a pair online since no two boots are exactly alike. Also checking against various other places like Shepler's, the prices can't be beat and Cavender seems to have more deals. In addition to boots, they sell an assortment of other misc Cowboy related items like belts, clothes, and hats. So many different hats with price ranging from $20 to a couple hundred dollars. Ridiculous but I can see that if you want quality then you need to spend more. read more
