I'm known for loving to bargain shop! I shop at Good Will often. Well, Thrift City needs to checkout how Good Will runs their stores. Thrift City is filthy. All the merchandise is dirty, chipped, stained or overpriced. For example the Pyrex pie pans are $4.99...that's what they cost at Target, brand new, lol!!!! Well this is a little hidden gem right in the heart of Richardson! I wanted to go shopping on my lunch break but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. Enter in Thrift City. They only had one tag color of the day half off which isn't ideal, but better than nothing. If you dig you can definitely find some amazing deals. I found a number of Banana Republic and J Crew tops for under $3 so I was a happy gal. If you download their app you get points and such and I got $4 off just for getting the app. This place is dated but incredibly well organized and the color tag of the week changes every Monday from what I've heard. I hope it stays a secret for awhile. read more

The "Thrift City" chain seems to be consistent across the board. The only thing I don't like is that their color sales tags of the day is for clothing only. If you're looking for appliances, toys or knick knacks it's a hit or miss -- they are often overpriced. The highlights of the chain is that their shoes seem to be fairly priced and the have a great selection of old records at the different stores I've visited in the chain. read more

As a guy who shops at thrifts my experience wasn't too great. Granted I didn't have a chance to look through the clothes but I was on the look out for some cookware and to my surprise the pans I came across were a "bit" overpriced. A used an abused 10" calphalon was 29.99 that's just about as much as a new one. This gave me what I needed to know that I will most likely not be coming back. read more

I fell in love with this store as soon as I walked in!!! The clothes are organized by color in each section. A large portion of their clothing still had the original tag on it. Thrift City is where its at. Keep in mind: I've only recently started to go thrift shopping, and I'm not the most experienced, nor have I've been to a lot of thrift stores. I have been to Goodwill, Texas Thrift Store (in Arlington), Half of Half, and this place. Out of the limited thrift stores that I've been to this is by far the best one. It's clean, organized, cheap, and the stuff here is awesome. I have this theory going into thrift stores: "about 90% is crap, that 10% makes worth going to the thrift store" this place is more like 70% crap and 30% cool stuff (which is really good compared to others.) Every time I come here I always walk out with something CHEAP and Cute. This Thrift Store is cheaper than other thrift stores that I've been to because it is not affiliated with a charity; so all the clothes here are 50%+ cheaper than good will or half-of half. Very Hipster if you like that style, and if you don't i'm sure there is something else that you like. I had to get used to the fact that it was a thrift store and that it was used clothes, but the clothes are nice, stylish and INEXPENSIVE (I love cheap). I would suggest to wash the clothes before you wear them (duh) but just for precaution. I would definitely recommend this place, I love it here and I always have a good find! read more

As a toy collector, it is a blessing that that thrift city has decent organization of their toys. Most other thrift stores throw their plush toys into containers and pack them down until they're one mass of unidentifiable fabric. My kiddo and I had a great experience here. My daughter had actually been put off by thrifting (crazy right??), but after visiting this place, she left with a new appreciation for it. Now after 3 pairs of jeans and a pair of shorts later, she can't wait to go back! We came on a weekday evening about an hour before closing time, which was perfect. No wait for the dressing room, and it wasn't crowded at all. The store is large and spacious with way more room between the aisle for carts than at Ross or TJ Maxx (thank you!!). Besides a few gum spots on the carpet, it was pretty clean (although the bathroom is a different story according to my kid so I would come with an empty bladder XD...). The store also didn't have a funky musty smell that some thrift stores have, so extra points for not assaulting our noses!! Like many other thrift stores, they have different color price tags and depending on the day of the week, discounts based on the color of the tag (the day we went, it was 50% off items with white tags). What I liked most about this place was how the clothes were organized. They did a pretty good job arranging them by color and size, which made it super easy to shop. In addition to my kid's items, I was very happy with the 3 dresses and 3 skirts I got. All of our clothing we purchased was in good shape. I spent about $40 for everything. Can't wait to visit again! Maybe next time we will make it to the back of the store!! read more

The clothing is very organized (by size & color!), but if you're looking for toys, games, or Knick-Knacks it's a mess. They have 4 clean fitting rooms & a bathroom (which I cannot speak on the cleanliness of it). Very impressed with this store. The store itself is clean, clothing is sorted by color and size, and dressing rooms are spacious. Prices vary - it seemed like higher priced items were located in the "boutique" area. I spent $17 and walked away with three blouses, which feels just a tad higher than what I normally pay at thrift stores, but I still consider it a good deal. I'll be back. read more

My favorite part of this thrifty place is that it does not have the typical scent associated with thrift shops. This makes clothing easier to get ready to wear. The aisles are a little smallish in the children's clothing so I gave it 4 stars. But I like hunting here and always find my kids next round of clothing. read more

I came here one time and had good experience finding few things.Second time I came, I picked up couple pieces. When we got to the register, I asked the "lady" who was ringing me to show if the sensor did not leave a hole (I found a crochet sweater). The lady was so rude she started throwing the item saying "she did not see" which side the sensor came off. I asked to see the item. I said she did not have to have an attitude as I am a customer and wanted to make sure the item did not have as hole after she took the sensor out for which I asked politely. she then started THROWING my clothes into the bag after ringing it. When my daughter and I were leaving she literally started screaming after us! As I am now reading reviews, I see what people mean by the rude staff. I was appalled I have never ever been treated this way! For a employee to yell after me and throw items into the bag because I asked to see an item to make sure sensor did not leave a hole? Completely disappointed because I wanted to make this store my regular. read more

Usually like to shop here but not no more. I went into the dressing room and tried on some clothes until I felt something sharp dig deep into my foot, I looked down crying seeing a staple in my foot. I assumed someone was attempting to steal clothes by removing the staple and the people don't clean after the fitting rooms. This is a safety issue with this store now, it's like leaving a wet floor wet without a cautionary sign. read more

I just say I am so lucky I live 0.5 miles away from TCR. No one can ask for more. Place is full of treasures and also never clothes stay too long on the racks. well organized and of course all staff is wonderful and you see they all work good together. This was my first time visiting and I found so many nice finds. Many did not fit but I did score a nice blazer and leather and wool wristlet. Store nicely laid out and was organized well. They even had a boutique section full of nicer items. Lots of wool, silk and cashmere items. I found the bags were a bit overpriced considering they were used. My major pet peeve with thrift is the typical smell when you go in goodwill. No smell here and was clean! Clothes I'm good condition too. I saw no holes or rips in anything I picked up. I will be back for sure! Staff super friendly when I asked questions or needed help. I will donate here in the future. Prices much better than goodwill or Salvation Army. read more
