PROS: clean, the employees seem nice, the store is nice & organized. CONS: I came here expecting to donate my clothes, leave, go about my day, & wait for a phone call for them to tell me that my offer is ready... Nope! You leave your clothes, & you have to stay IN the store or they will automatically "donate" the clothes they chose NOT to buy from you... I've never been to a location that does that.. that's so weird, right? I can't be the only one that thinks that. Let me start by saying the store is clean, customer service is kind and it's a nice thrift store for the most part! That said, their buying practices are questionable. I waited over an hour for them to only accept 1 thing out of two bins of clothes- many items with tags and absolutely not poor quality. Were there a few shabby items in the mix? Sure! But I'm 100% certain there was more than 1 thing worth keeping. They opted to keep my Free People set because apparently that's a preferred brand at this location. The items hanging on the racks range in quality, really nice items to garage sale vintage... so for me, I have a hard time believing that none of these items met that range of standards. MY ISSUE: They offer to donate the things you don't want to take back, which is cool because I honestly don't feel like lugging the bin back home- but I have a sneaky suspicion that some of the items given to them for donation end up on their racks for sale anyway. I've seen two dresses (for sure) that I know were mine hanging on the shelf after having been told weeks prior that they weren't worth buying. I can't prove it and it's not worth my energy to fight it, but I'm just putting it out there that it feels a lil shady. 2nd Street pays WAY better and provides an itemized receipt detailing what they purchased. So feel free to thrift at UC, but if you're selling items that you believe have value, try somewhere else. read more

I'm not sure if it's just me, but every time I come here, I'm never greeted or acknowledged by the employees. No one asks how I'm doing or makes me feel welcome. What's even more disappointing is that I've noticed customers of other ethnicities are treated with kindness and respect, while I, as a Hispanic woman, am not given the same courtesy. It's really disheartening. I continue to shop here because I like some of the clothing options, but the lack of respect and professionalism from the employees and management is very disappointing. read more

The store was very organized but I went to donate with 2 bags full of clothes. They have you wait inside the store while they see what they will buy. I looked around for a bit and saw items similar to what I was donating but mostly name brands. When they were done they said none of the clothes I brought in would sell well in their store. Considering the store was completely full, the stuff they do pick out wasn't selling well anyway. After looking in the store, looks like they're going for name brands only. I never been to the store before so I thought the point was for cheaper trendy clothes but I guess they just want new or gently used brand name clothing that they can sell at similar prices to department stores. The clothes I had weren't outdated or anything, just not name brands. Some of my items cost a pretty penny for me because they were bought at boutiques but if it doesn't have a Zara or Nike tag it's not worth it to them. read more

This is the best uptown cheapskate location by far. There is so much room to walk around, everything is organized, and the pieces are for the most part really good quality. The prices are fair for most things, some of the stuff is slightly overpriced in my opinion, but most of the time there are great discounts! First of all, when you bring clothes in to sell, you're not allowed to leave the building. They force you to stay and sit while they sort yours and others peoples clothes for over an hour. When the time was up, they proceeded to say they would only take ONE piece of clothing out of the entire trash bag. So not only did they waste my time when I could have been running the rest of my errands, but they only offered me $2.00!!! Like wtf! 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND for selling clothes. read more

Clothing selection is NOT good and sometimes dirty. That's not even the worst part!! They offer the option of buying your used clothes, but their wait times are always 45+ minutes and if you leave the store while they look over your clothing, anything they don't deem "good enough" they donate WITHOUT your consent. Had a positive experience here selling my clothes before moving! Staff were friendly and it took under an hour to go through 3 giant boxes of stuff. They ended up taking 12 items and I got $55 cash. I have been to dozens of Uptown Cheapskates across 3 states and I have never been to one that doesn't allow you to pick up clothes you're trying to sell unless you stay in the store. Usually you can chose to stay in store or drop off while they go through items you want to sell to them but this place said they automatically donate your items they don't take if you leave the store and don't let you pick them up later, even that same day. Awesome thrift store located in the Richardson area. Definitely one of the nicest/cleanest thrift shops I've been to. It's also in a good area which is another plus. The staff there is pretty friendly and available when you need them too. The fitting rooms were okay, lacking anywhere to sit, but they at least had doors that actually lock. Also, they have employees monitoring whose coming in and out, which is nice too. Overall, I really liked their overall selection and would definitely recommend, especially if you're a guy, as they actually have a pretty large men's section compared to other thrift shops I've been to as well! read more

I just wanted to come out and say that I absolutely loved the selection of clothing here pretty neat stuff and variety.! What concerns me though is treatment of the employees here at this location. As a former employee myself, I wanted to come out and say how horrible the owner is, and how RUDE she was towards me and other former employees- absolutely outrageous!!! During my time working here I felt mentally exhausted because of the treatment I received from Lendie, the owner of the store. I've read another review of a former employee coming out and decided I should too. I went into this place in order to sell some of my lightly used items and I was pleasantly surprised! they looked through my stuff in 15 minutes gave me a fair price and they have a great selection of shoes dresses bags and even winter clothing, they bought my winter clothing swell which was a relief.
