I came into sell and was quoted a 45 minute to hour wait but ended up waiting an hour and 20 minutes. (I believe when I came in that there was 3 workers but after a few minutes of waiting there was only 2) I was also told they were NOT accepting anymore drop-offs because of the wait but she allowed another person to add a bag to their sell several minutes after they checked in. read more

Staff wasn't friendly and didn't know how to make chit chat (or wasn't interested) but they did the job, looked at my clothes and I got some cash for items I didn't want anymore. The store was well organized and while I'm typically a thrift store girl, can see the appeal of this place but not sure I would bring it into my regular rotation of stores to shop. read more

Got out of a manicure appointment Saturday afternoon and spotted this place on the walk back to my car, so I decided to stop by and see what was up. I only really started thrifting this year, and have only been to a couple of downtown establishments, so I was eager to find something a little closer to where I live (in Plano). Uptown Cheapskate was super nice, and I ended up purchasing three crop tops, one top, and a pair of nice platform heels for only $36! The interior is very clean, and the fitting rooms were really nice as well. It does smell a little musty inside, but I figure with the amount of clothes around, that was probably a given. The organization of the store is mostly intuitive, though I was puzzled that the back rack of tops wasn't really organized by size (all the sizes were grouped together, but it went M - L - S - XS for some reason?) but otherwise I was able to find everything I needed. The clothing and shoe selection was pretty good. There's a rewards program (you get your card punched every $10 you spend, with $15 or 20% off after 30 points), which also gives you 15% off your entire birth month. You can also bring your own items to the store to sell, so I'm looking forward to coming back to shop and donate in the future! read more

Just got back from uptown cheapskate and probably won't be going back. I thought the selection would be better but instead it was poor selection of today's clothes. I was specifically looking for some khakis and maybe some blouses for the office but no luck. I did find a cute jean skirt and was really trying to find a blouse to go with it but no couldn't find it. The prices are pretty over priced for the type of clothing. read more

The majority of the items were not high end designer clothing. All though the clothing was priced to be. I thought it was an overpriced thrift store. The condition of the clothing was fair. The sneakers were in bad to fair condition. As some of the previous reviews concerning the attitude of their employees. I've been in several times and never been greeted. A customer with a fairer complexion was greeted and told about the sales. This happened on more than one visit. Disappointed. Just greet everyone! read more

I found these stores by taking the Dart train off Mockingbird in Dallas. I loved the selection if shoes, blouses, Jean's, etc. I had to go to the store in Richardson and lived it just as much. I've come to this place 3 times and each time the staff was completely rude. The girl with very long hair yesterday had a sour look on her face and is apparently allergic to smiling, while the young man, Austin acted as if the world was ending tomorrow. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident but it wasn't. Great first time experience. I got checked in immediately. I asked how long was the wait time and they told me 40 minutes. I believe I was in there for less than that. The associates there were nice and friendly. While I waited for my offer I browsed through their selection. I am 28 and considered their selection geared more towards 18-25 year olds. I did buy one cute romper. They do have name brand items but I noticed a lot more of xhilaration clothing, (target). My offer was $75 for 20 loft and 2 express items. I probably paid 5 times that amount but I rather have $75 than clothes I'm not longer wearing taking up space in my closet! Overall great experience! I will definitely be back in a few months to sell more clothes! I usually take my clothes to Clothes Mentor but I feel like they give me less money for really good items and are really picky! I've honestly given this franchise numerous opportunities to be what they have the potential to be. As a long time customer of businesses like them such as Buffalo Exchange and Plato's Closet (where I know and relate to their associates on a personal level), I am fully knowledgeable on how this market operates. I'll start with their employees. They say the usual 'welcome in' when you first come in the door. After that, good luck getting a kind word or even a smile from any of them. My experience was with two young men who seemed to be in a management position at each location. Neither were at all friendly. In the other two stores I mentioned, the employees are engaging and having fun. Fun music is playing overhead and they are singing along. They start conversations and seem happy to be there. It's not the same in this place. They have strict rules for everything. The place is already a needle in a haystack way of finding anything so good ole customer service could help greatly. I've never had someone at either Uptown Cheapskate location offer any type of customer service unless it was to stress one of their rules. I won't even go into their buying. Unless you have hours to kill and will except pennies on the dollar...don't waste your time. The experience that finally prompted me to write this review is this: 2 days ago I went into the Mockingbird location. I found 6-8 pairs of jeans I wanted to try on. When they became heavy, I asked the gentleman if he could start a dressing room (There were 6-8 employees and 2-3 customers). NO ONE had offered any help or a kind word or smile. NO ONE had offered any assistance. He wouldn't start me a dressing room. He said he could only put them on hold for me behind the front counter (separate location from dressing room) until I was ready. Several of the things I had chosen clearly had been marked with colored stickers and highlighted markings. When I asked what it meant they said it meant nothing. In most stores, including those mentioned above, that neon sticker or star means sale. Not at Uptown Cheapskate. Not today anyway. When I was ready to try on, I had 12 items. They only allowed 10. Ok, no problem. I get it. But when I was ready for my other two...there was no one to be found. It was an ordeal to get my additional items traded out. I ended up spending $165.00. After a day or two I decided 2 of the items weren't gonna work. Since I was getting my hair done next to their Richardson location, I figured I'd exchange the items there and see what else I could find. With my receipt in hand, I went in ready to shop. Nope, not allowed. Same store, same owner, same brands and merchandise. Can only be exchanged at original location. Not allowed. Seriously? I can't say I'll never shop here again...but it will definitely be the last place I try. read more

The clothes are fine but the service is horrible, some of the girls treat you like they dont wanna be there. I wanted to use my birthday reward last friday and the girl told me that the reward is not valid until my birthday month starts even though I got the reward last week and the FiveStars app said otherwise--expiration date on the app said it was May 2nd but the girl kept insisting that I couldnt use it until May 1st. Not my favorite place in the world. A perk maybe finding that one gem in the store but it's rare. It's a clean store and they look for specific things; not really branched out. Based off their customer service, they are rude and don't really care about answering questions or the people shopping. It makes the experience dreary. No "Hello!" Or "Welcome to Uptown" I never knew that was a lot to ask for! I came in today and sold a few items; their sign in sheets/computer method always seems to be changing so one day you could be login on a computer or just writing on multiple sheets of paper. I dropped off my stuff and asked to use the bathroom. Once the bathroom door opened I went inside and realized the person before me backed up the toilet and I left to tell the manager. She went in to later check and I tried asking to use the other bathroom but no one helped because they were "busy" waited for 10 mins took my cash and left. Overall the bathroom problem didn't make me too happy and I'm sure they weren't either, but you can't take it out on a customer! read more
