There are some really amazing finds here. Every time i come, I'm able to find at least 2 unique and inexpensive items. I highly recommend this spot. I came here about an hour before I had to leave for a wedding because I forgot to bring a "fancy" purse with me to Dallas. Luckily, Uptown Cheapskate had several options at incredibly reasonable prices. I ended up buying a purse, a dress, and boots...oops! You can't go wrong here, there is something for everyone. I saw designer dresses and Lululemon athletic tights for over 80% off the retail price. The store is really aesthetically pleasing and well-organized. The lighting in the dressing rooms was natural, which I appreciated. Staff were efficient and helpful without being overbearing. WILL NOT BE BACK! i just brought a bag full of 43 pairs of jeans and 36 shirts. majority of them still brand new or worn once. i washed all the used clothes and folded them very neatly in a huge bag. they start placing the items on the counter and some woman who appeared to be a manager leaned in to the girl helping me and was whispering in her ear. the girl then says i'm sorry unfortunately we can't take these can you take these home and run them through the wash there is an odor. i said "odor"? the "manager" said yeah i smelt it when she pulled it out the the bag. i advised i just washed the clothes and the "manager" said maybe it came from your car. i have NEVER felt so offended in my life. especially after i spent a hour washing drying and folding all of them just last night. these were american eagle, michael kors, nike, old navy, kenneth cole, very well known name brand clothing! but i will be taking these BRAND NEW clothes to a donation center for someone who actually needs them! read more

Honestly not certain why I continue to come here to browse. Clothing overpriced for what they carry and the staff is really not friendly at all. I asked the price for a Tory watch and it seemed like I frustrated the sales associate by asking. I will not spend my dollars in a place where people can't be bothered to want to help customers. It never hurts to smile in a retail store and be willing to help customers. Just girls with awful attitudes in there. I went up the street and found the items I was looking for at 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand clothing. Go there instead and they have better and equal brands there plus in better condition. read more

I like this place! I just moved to Texas from California where I know all of my cash sale clothes shops and had been looking for a good clothes exchange store. Needless to say, I like Uptown Cheapskate MORE than any of the places I've been too. -They really have GOOD quality merchandise! None of it looked worn or faded. -The prices are impecable. Michael Kors sandals for $10. I'm sold! But you can find everything from LuLu Lemon and Tory Burch to Banana Republic and Ann Taylor Loft. -It doesn't matter where you take your clothes, you won't get a lot of cash for it. But at least here I can "trade" it for something great. -The store display and merchandise is really nice too. Very trendy. It doesn't feel old, messy, smelly, or cluttered. The only cons are: -Sometimes they won't take your very nice, good quality clothes! Which I understand being over stocked or not in season, but when it is in season and they are looking for current styles... I wish the could take more. -I wish you could use your Uptown Cheapskate credit at ANY Uptown Cheapskate. Not all stores are equal. That needs to be improved. The building is nice and the clothing choices are amazing, but I've never had a good experience with the employees, except for one or two. Customer service is subpar at best. They always seem as if they don't want to be at their job. Simple questions about apparel or accessories are usually met with a condescending look and a monotonous answer. I'm not sure if I come in at the wrong time, or am "doing something wrong", but it's difficult to shop when I have a negative employee to look forward to at checkout. read more

I love these kinds of stores, but sadly, have had too many disappointing experiences here. There seems to be a lot of rudeness and apathy amongst the employees. I understand that we all have bad days, but this seems to be the way it always goes, to the point that I have stopped coming here despite it being near me. The Allen location Uptown Cheapskate is extraordinarily different, both in clothing selection and environment. My newest, most impressive place to shop for great quality awesome clothes/shoes/accessories. The selection was so impressive, and everything is in mint condition- even the original tags were still on most items I picked up today. My fiancé and I made this a date night, surprising each other with our own chosen outfits-and the experience was awesome all around. Very basic clothes selection, but not bad. One major plus is how organized everything is. Service is very prickly and stand offish.

I visit this little gem every so often...the first time I found it I was elated, we had just relocated from AZ and I missed all my consignment shops. I could always find something cute and for a great price. The last few visits have been disappointing...clothes are overpriced for the labels I can get brand new for a few more bucks at old navy, target, ross or Marshall's. To top it off my last visit the employees were rude, I was actually asking one of them a question and I was still talking as she walked away. If I want this kind of experience I can just stick to discount retailers like Ross. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. These girls that I dealt with are snooty walking around with their noses in the air and 1 of them seemed to be supervision. She took one of the girls that was supposedly helping me outside to have a chat. Customer service is horrible, they meander around with a "something close to nothing but different than the day before" attitude. In no hurry whatsoever! Instead of concentrating on the job at hand they move pens around, clean the counters, chat with each other, check and recheck everything all the while not paying attention to the items they are actually looking at. I've been here twice to sell back clothes and twice to shop. Every time I've come in to shop, the men's shirts look worn, old, and not even stylish. When I've come to sell clothes they tell me they cant buy anything because my clothes are worn or older in style. Granted, I've worked at Banana, J. Crew, and Gap and all of my clothes are from there so I would never bring in anything that I feel wouldn't sell. I find it ironic for them to tell someone that their clothes are old or worn when that's pretty much all I saw in the men's section. Last time I was there, they had an XL boy's button down polo shirt in the men's XL section. I took a basket of clothes they wouldn't buy and got 45.00 dollars at Plato and they even suggest I bring in more clothes. I cant speak for other locations but the Uptown Cheapskate in Richardson is not worth it when it comes to men's clothes. read more

They bought several items of mine that were in good shape and offered me $37 of store credit or $30 cash. I only have one complaint and it was about one of the assistant buyers or presorters. I brought in 2 bags of clothes and the in store wait was about 25 min. They took like 7 things for $23 which I expected but thats not what upset me. They had taken everything out of my bags and placed it in a bin when they went through them. They then asked if I wanted to donate which I said no. The girl cashing me out asked the assistant buyer or the presorter if she could put my stuff back into my bags. She gave this annoyed face and then started shoving my stuff back into my bags. I asked her not to worry about it and to just leave it in the bin and I could fold my stuff and put it back in the bags myself. She gave me this face and threw the bag on top and shoved the bin my way. I get it....if you're super crazy busy and there is one buyer then you can kinda half ass fold and stuff the clothes back in the bag but they had like one buy to do. I've worked in retail and I know the drill. My stuff isn't crazy expensive but it's also not crap so I'd appreciate you not half assing your job and putting my cloths back somewhat nicely (I brought them in folded and laundered as asked). By shoving my stuff you're wrinkling them, could tear them or the tags can get damaged so that's my grievance with that. The faces she made when asked to do her job and then to me is what upset me. Other than that it's a cute store. Just takes one bad apple to ruin the experience. read more

the service at the richardson location is close to none. they had approximately 5 girls working with around 4 people in the entire store and we were there for close to two hours while they searched through my two bags of approximately 15 items, to decide on two high end pieces, which they gave me a total of $7 for. not only that, they had very selective taste, but didn't take stuff that was obviously better quality than what they had in their store. not to be biased, but when i was browsing for the two hours i was there, i saw items with stains, unintentional rips, and discoloration. read more
