While they do have sales and closeout items, do know this is not a discount shoe retailer. They have a closeout section if you are looking for more value for your dollar. They have a great selection. They carry top brands for fitness, like Asics, Hoka, Saucony, New Balance, On Running, Brooks, Brooks, Mizuno, Topo Athletic and more. My personal favorite is the Asics Gel Nimbus. I tried on a handful but my associate Rocky suggested we order the color I wanted, with the promise it would be here next day. As promised, I received the call today that they arrived. I went back in and Matt helped me try them on, then a bunch of others. He was patient even though we both knew the store was closing. I really need to stop going to Luke's. I usually feel so uncomfortable when I leave there. A few weeks ago I purchased a shoe. The salesperson Carmen was fantastic-very professional and friendly. In fact, most of my experience there was pleasant, with very friendly employees checking on me and making sure I was finding what I needed. I thought to myself, they've replaced the older women who have that "air" that says you don't belong here, you couldn't have enough money to shop here, and I distrust you because you don't look like our wealthy Highland Park/Park Cities /SMU clientele. In simple terms, they have a racist/elitist "air" about them. And, before anyone gets upset I'm an older woman. Well, Carmen told me I had 30 days to try the shoe. It was a new brand for me, so I only wore them at home while doing chores and 28 days later I decided they weren't working, so I attempted to take them back. I was assisted by Taylor who was very nice. She opened the box and asked if I'd worn them and I answered yes but only at home and she noted I'd brought them back within 30 days. I explained the shoes were pinching the top of my foot and felt heavy. Taylor called Nancy or Susan, whom I assume was the Manager up to okay the return. You guessed it-Nancy/Susan had that "air" about her. With no warmth or smile on her face she began to drill me about the shoe. Where does it hurt, did I try lacing the shoes this way and that way. How the shoe couldn't be heavy because it's one of the lightest shoes and on and on. I was like girl calm down! I explained I'd like to try some different shoes, and Nancy/Susan began to lecture me that I'd chosen one of the best shoes, but finally relented and instructed Taylor to grab some other shoes for me try. After trying on 2 pairs with Taylor, Nancy/Susan came over to check on us and suggested that I allow Ray to tie the laces of the shoe I purchased with a window to see if that helped the pinching. Ray was very nice and the way he tied my laces really did fix the pinch, so I decided to keep the shoe I'd purchased. While trying on shoes with Taylor and Ray lacing my shoes, Nancy/Susan started trying to be friendlier, but that "air" was still there. I was like I know what you are. I asked if there were any other shoes and asked about the ONs, and Nancy/Susan shot that down quickly saying what I'd chosen was a top seller, while she was wearing a pair of ONs. What she really said was ONs are not for your kind, and I'm going to do whatever I can to make you keep the shoe you're trying to return. In the end, I did decide to keep the shoes I purchased, and lo and behold Nancy/Susan's great customer skills kicked in-even offering me a new bag when mine tore. Too late lady. I know what you are. When I got home it occurred to me that I may have kept the shoe, because I felt like I'd done something wrong in trying to return them or because I allowed Nancy/Susan to make me so uncomfortable that I caved and kept the shoe. Either way, I won't be going back to Luke's by SMU. read more

Went in to see if I could get my shoes replaced because they make a squeaky noice when I walk or run. Was told since I was past the 30 days return policy and they couldn't replace them. Buyers be aware of this. I thought the noise would go away but it never did. paid $161 with my military discount and they wanted me to buy another pair. So I can have 2 pairs of shoes that squeaked, no thanks. I've been a customer for several years but that's the last time I buy shoes from here. Both times this month I was greeted and properly assisted with my specific cross training shoe needs. Two different people assisted me and both were very knowledgeable about the shoes. I was especially happy that they had my size 9 men's medium in stock in the models I needed. They also have a good selection of socks. It's rare to find a retail shoe place that has qualified, competent, and helpful staff. They seem to manage their inventory and stock well. I simply love this place. Very impressed with the service. They are soooo helpful. I went there when I started training for my first marathon and haven't stopped going. They are great at helping you find the right running shoes. They make sure they fit right and make you walk and run in them to make sure you take the right pair. They were also very helpful with running nutrition and have great advice in what to eat when training. All of The staff is super friendly. It might be a bit pricier but it's worth it. I went here four months ago to be fitted for work shoes and really feel after my experience at Run On today that I was taken advantage of at Luke's Locker. I came in May for shoes for work and was helped by Kerry. First off her mask barely covered her mouth and kept moving. I'm immune compromised so this was disturbing. Secondly, I think she saw me and took me for a sucker. I was sold some Hokas (a great shoe) but given a size larger to compensate for the "width." (I'm a size 11) Well, my toe went through the shoe (because they're too big) and when I got my orthotics my foot rolled to the side. When I asked if I could return them, I was told to try abs "relace them with a runner's loop" and no, I couldn't return them but she'd be happy to help buy a new pair of shoes. Because I'm just made of money. I guess since she got her commission, she doesn't care about anything else. Worst ever. read more

Highly recommend this place. We went to Run On and REI and had less options, with less invested staff. This place is a serious operation. The associates are just so knowledgeable about shoes. Duncan helped us out, and he was so patient with us 20 shoes later. He knows the ins and outs of all the options and makes really helpful recommendations. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I am running my first half marathon this year (hopefully) and needed new running shoes. Since I'll be wearing them a lot for training, I wanted to go somewhere that would help me pick the right shoes for my feet. The sales woman was super sweet and gave me her undivided attention. Ms sheila was so patient and assisted me with making sure the shoes where comfortable and supported my feet. We came to this store because it's the their main store. Customer service was less than stellar. They wouldn't get my sons sizes even if they had them at another store. Only had one shoe for me in my size women's 9. Wouldn't order online for me and ship to my home. Wouldn't help me find clothes in my size. I kinda had to do everything myself. And so I even came home with socks that are very tight so I'll need to go back and return all of them. Very disappointing because this isn't the service I've gotten over the years. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Luke's Locker. Everyone needs to buy their exercise shoes here. I learned this the hard way but if you exercise on the wrong kind of shoe it can cause injury. I used to go to Run On out of convenience but they sold me shoes that caused me a very painful foot injury. Ray at Luke's spent half an hour with me examining my feet, the way I walked, and the way I run and I told him about my current toe/foot injury.
