I went for a ride with a friend of mine, whose Podiatrist told him to come here to look for shoes. We don't "look" like their typical customers; marathon runners or hikers, anymore. But, they didn't blow us off! I have quite a bit of experience in orthotics and prosthetics. Before I retired, that's what I used to do. Measure & Fabricate orthotics, and prosthetics, at the VA. Sales associate, Wendy, actually measured and did pressure analysis of my friend's gait. After watching her attention to detail, I asked if she had taken pedorthic fitters courses? I didn't tell her who I was. Haven't seen such attention to detail and custom service in decades! The majority of places, nowadays, that claim to sell shoes, have a couple of people standing around, that basically fill in stock or act as cashiers. She made suggestions as to what would be most appropriate, for his feet and conditions; not what is the most expensive shoe, she could sell. They have clothing, accessories, and other merchandise related to running and hiking. They can make inserts for your shoes, they also have them premade. There are boxes of various sized foot coverings to try shoes on with if you didn't wear socks. Never a good idea, unless you're wearing flip-flops. I had been having a hard time finding a pair of sneakers that were comfortable for my long daily walks. A neighbor had recommended trying fleet feet so they could measure feet and evaluate my stride etc. My first experience there was very positive. A woman named Trish helped me and she was very kind, attentive and accommodating. I recommended the store to two other people based off my initial experience. When I asked for a different color she physically brought out 10 different boxes to show me instead of just listing my options. She recommended Hoka brand $175 due to the testing showing my feet being flatter. She also recommended inserts $60. I have never spent this much money on sneakers but given the amount of walking I do and my recent discomfort I decided to give it a try. When I got home and tried wearing them and I realized they were way too cushioned and were actually hurting my shins and I felt like I was trying to balance wearing them . I knew I didn't want to spend that much money and not be completely happy so I packed them up to bring back for an exchange. They had a 30 day exchange policy attached to the receipt. The store is about 45 minutes away so a little annoying to have to go back. I was finally able to return to the store and had a much different experience this time. The woman who assisted me seemed very disappointed and annoyed that I had a return. She barely interacted with me. I was trying to explain what the last lady recommended based on the tests, assuming she might look up my account. She never did and just kinda was like what do you want. I'm not going to give a blow by blow but it was a disappointing experience which gave me anxiety and I literally picked the first shoe because I couldn't wait to get out of the store. She made a point to say she needed to get her manager because I had an exchange and walked away. The manager appeared and did not even greet me or even speak with me until she tried to give me a store credit because the asics I chose were less expensive than original shoe. I asked for the money to be returned to my credit card knowing I would never return to that store.She unpleasantly asked me to show her my credit card I used on original purchase because "there are a lot of scammers". We left the store and my 12 year old son immediately asked me why those ladies were so rude. At the time I could only assume they worked off of commission or some selling incentive and treated us so poorly due to it being a return. But I really don't know if they do or not. But it actually doesn't matter if they do or not because either way it was rude. Regardless it was a horrible experience, especially when spending so much money. I wanted to shop local but I would never return to that store ! Customer service is very important! read more

Bought a pair of shoes a few weeks ago had a good experience purchasing the shoes and with the staff in the in-store. After wearing the shoes a couple times with my new insoles, I experienced moderate foot pain, and called the store in regards to a potential exchange or return of the product. The staff member that answered the phone was confrontational and mildly accusatory when I was simply inquiring about how to return or exchanging an item. read more

I stopped by the Poughkeepsie location for the first time last Wednesday, 3/9/22. The saleswoman was so helpful and personable. I don't remember her name but she deserves credit for her work. She did that foot scanning thing for me which was interesting and helpful. She picked out two pairs of shoes. One pair that she pulled for me were the shoes that I'd originally been looking for and then the other pair she said she thought I might like as well. I loved them both enough to purchase both pairs. I'm not somebody that ever spends a lot of money on shoes. Ever. Additionally, my mom broke her leg pretty badly last summer and has had a terrible limp since being back on her feet. The saleswoman scanned her feet and got her into a pair of Hokas. I kid you not, my mom's limp in nearly gone. She was apparently not wearing the right recovery shoes. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this has greatly improved her quality of life. We didn't feel like the sales lady was being pushy at all. She was pretty informative. We enjoyed our time there. I'm bringing my boyfriend there soon to try the place out. I'm sure he'll like that store too. Please let the woman who helped my mom and I know that we're sending her a shout-out ! read more

Best experience ever. Associate was patient and offered insightful suggestions. After having my foot and gait assessed, I was provided with three options to start. There was zero pressure to purchase. Foot assessment is even emailed to you. Loved being able to try out each pair in the treadmill! We're so lucky to have a store like this locally! Bought sneakers, two pairs of socks, a headband and cold weather gloves the other day. Loved everything, wore the gloves once but they did not perform as I had hoped. Went back today with receipt in hand but was told because I didn't have the packaging, I couldn't even get store credit. The woman helping me immediately told me there was nothing she could do and she was not willing to "eat the price" of my return. I was surprised to learn she was in fact the owner of the business. Rather rude and lacking compassion for her customers. Will not be going back Update: as an update to my previous post, the owner recently contacted me and offered a store credit. Although my experience was less than satisfying while attempting to return newly purchased unworn gloves with a receipt, I had a wonderful experience with the woman who originally waited on me and sold me sneakers. She was informative and attentive. I'm always impressed with the store products and the sales-peoples' knowledge. My only warning is that if you need to return something, please be aware that you need your receipt AND original packaging. read more

Probably the best customer service I've ever had. Not only did the salesman (whose name I missed) let us in after the store had closed, but he fitted my daughter's difficult feet carefully and professionally. The other staff members were just as supportive, friendly and informative as he was, even though we kept them an extra half hour after closing time, sharing concrete advice when it came down to choosing between two different running shoes. Product selection was very good. I like how the store has a clean, tailored/curated feel. Of course, being a specialty run shop, they have the latest and greatest shoes. More generally, I appreciated how there was a nice range of brands across all the product categories including some brands you simply will not find elsewhere locally. If top-notch specialty run product selection is what you're after, this is the place for you. But wait, there's more... The service here is phenomenal. For those unfamiliar, FFS has a few tools at their disposal to help find the "right" shoe for you. This includes 3D foot scanning and gait analysis via video recording and slow motion playback. I was assisted by Jill who was very knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and efficient. I was super impressed with how a "history" was taken first (i.e. running background, injury and shoe history, current shoe wear pattern, etc.). Of course, the anthropometric data from the 3D scanning was interesting but I really feel as if I've developed an intuition for how it should be used to inform the shoe selection process from this experience as well. I also really liked being able to take part in the gait analysis. This is something I tried to do by myself in the past but nothing is quite as awkward or seemingly narcissistic as trying to take a slow motion video recording of your own legs at the gym. Yikes. To be clear, it's not simply the technologies themselves but rather the thoughtful integration of these technologies and data into the shoe selection process by highly adept staff and the sharing of this expertise that makes this place exceptional and pretty much inimitable. This is the single greatest point of differentiation between FFS and competitors; it's the reason I now refuse shop elsewhere for trainers. Highly recommended. read more

After helping me try out half a dozen pairs, she helped me pick out a great new pair of shoes. I just finished my first run in them and they feel great.
