If they were, they would approach customers and try to "sell" the merchandise and not wander or hide behind the cash register. I don't know if the staff can tell the difference between the subtle signs of craftsmanship, Milanese button holes, no taping on the seams of an unconstructed men's jacket, and a schlock job. There are not too many high-end retailers around anymore. Wallach's and Barneys come to mind. There is a lot of high-end, well tailored merchandise. But I didn't see a tailor on site if alterations are needed. Long long ago, in the neighborhood far, far away. I worked at John Wanamaker's in the men's suit department; on commission and salary. I wasn't starving.

This place is so horrific I almost want to give it a half a star...at least the people show up to…read morework. That's all I can say for them. Ok, so from my very first visit, everyone here was fake and had an attitude. Every dress I tried on they would say looked amazing!!!!!! Just be honest, it's not helpful to tell me they all look good. I was a bride's maid, not the bride, but it was still annoying. They gave such a freaked out look when we told them that we were all wearing different colors and styles of dresses. Judgement was written all over there faces. This is not that bad you might be thinking, but here's where the fun begins... At my first fitting I looked at the dress and thought, "wow, that looks huge." I am a typical size 6...in almost everything. Granted, I have a large chest, so sometimes a bigger size is necessary...they had ordered me a size 12! It was ridiculously huge on me. They ordered a size 14 for one of the other bride's maids and she is typically a size 8. They then asked me what bra I planned on wearing and I told them that I was thinking about not wearing one if it looked ok...they rolled their eyes and told me that I should definitely rethink wearing a bra and proceeded to write on my order slip "refuses to wear a bra". They told me that the dress wouldn't be fitted properly because I refused to wear a bra and I said, I WILL wear a bra if it looks better! They were really just trying to blame me because the dress was not fitting correctly (BECAUSE THEY ORDERED A SIZE 12!) That was not the worst of it, because I could care less if someone judges me for not wearing a bra, but then they were rude to the bride. At her first fitting the dress was too small. They had measured her exactly last time she was in and she was working out in the meantime, so she had not gained weight. They had an attitude and said to her "Oh, you were SUPPOSED to have lost weight"!!!! What a rude comment to make! They had quite the attitude with her and ordered her a new size after telling her she should have lost weight. There were so many awful experiences, I feel like I'm forgetting a few of them. The day before the wedding, one bride's maid was supposed to pick up her dress. She had a screaming baby at home and was running late. When she called the dress shop (crying, mind you), they told her "Well, if you don't get here before we close, I guess you just won't have a dress tomorrow" That's lovely customer service. The women at this place need to retire. They are all miserable and make everyone around them miserable. Please, do yourself a favor and DO NOT go here!

The fitters were able to size up what was and was not flattering and direct us towards what would or would not work. Price was right and both my dress and my daughters fit like a dream. Have nothing to say but thank you to the wedding consultants there.

Sierra is the newest store in the HomeGoods/Marshalls chain to come to Poughkeepsie…read more They do carry many of the same products as the other stores, but they also have a much stronger emphasis on outdoor activities, so they have a large selection of outdoor clothing, gear, and supplies. The layout of the store is beautiful! The store itself has an outdoorsy feel to it with it's wood flooring and warm lighting, and it's brand new, so everything still feels immaculate. I like that the aisles in the back with the home goods are much wider than at HomeGoods next door. Their selection of outdoor/active clothing is also really nice and well-organized. My only suggestion would be for better training for staff. I went with a $10 certificate the other day, and the cashier was very confused about what to do with it. It took him four tries of scanning it to finally apply it to the order.

I'm kinda annoyed that the past few months the dressing room has been closed. Every time I ask they say it's closed and it will be open in a month or two. I asked in December and they said February. I go in today to try on two shirts, I'm told again that they're closed until march or may or something like that. Every business knows if you let customers try on clothing the likely of them purchasing those items are a lot higher than if you don't. I put one thing back and got a sweater. Guess what it docent fit and I have to return it like always! The sizes here change between every article of clothing and it's beyond annoying to have to go home and use my house as a fitting room and then go back! They're multiple people working here walking around. It's not that hard to have someone stand by the fitting rooms and count each item before and after going into the fitting room! You make paying customers feel like shoplifters not letting them in the fitting room, and lets be honest that's what it's about. If you do your job and count the clothing before and after and make your customers feel good about purchasing clothing from your store it would be very appreciated!

I don't feel like we got our money's worth and here's why…read more I ordered a bouquet and a box of chocolates for a friend of ours. I saw what was received and really didn't feel like we got our money's worth. The flowers, although fresh and well arranged, were grocery store flowers, and the box of chocolates was a candy bar. I am grateful that whoever arranged the flowers took it upon themself to gussy up the bar of chocolate with some cute ribbon, but I purchased "Box of Chocolates", not "gas station chocolate bar". If these were for a good friend or family member and not a distant former colleague's partner, I would have been mortified by what they received Even though it missed the mark for us, I understand that small businesses have to cut corners sometimes, but it seems that's not the case with this business. When I was placing my order online I saw an additional "service fee". An explanation of the fee appears only at checkout and states: "Good News! This applies to first-time online orders only. We appreciate your repeat business, so you won't see this charge next time you order using the same email address."  We promptly called to ask for an explanation as to what exactly that fee is for. The nice young lady who answered explained that it was a third party fee for their tech provider that does their website and e-commerce. I intially assumed this was a separate and unaffiliated third party, but when my husband asked if that was the case, we were reluctantly informed that their shop was recently acquired by the big tech company that charges that fee. Which sounded weird because why would a tech company buy a flower shop and why would it also need to charge a service fee if they own the shop?? Super strange... So,I guess this 'service fee' is about ten bucks that isn't going towards the flowers, the box of chocolates; (or in this case, chocolate bar) it's not even going towards the delivery or as a gratuity to anyone making or delivering my gift. I've bought flowers many times before and when I order directly from a REAL florist, I've never been charged any sort of fee that can't be accounted for or justified. Bottom line is if you want to pay at least an extra ten dollars and then some that won't go towards your flowers, the staff, or anything else you might be ordering, this is probably what you're looking for.  If you're looking to get what you pay for though, I would recommend going through a real local florist, not a big tech company like the folks who apparently now own Flowers by Reni.
