Wonderful coffee shop! I went several weeks ago with a friend and all our kids. It was fairly straightforward to find, with parking in front. There are several picnic tables outside, which is always nice to find on a sunny, spring day in Austin! There is also lots of space outside that has the potential for either more tables or other things. Inside, the shop is immaculately clean and simple. They designed the indoor space well considering the building itself is in a bit of a V shape. I know the shop is owned by two guys, one of whom I'm not familiar with, but Patrick I remember from Caffe Medici. I'm happy for the launch of his business, since I remember him being an exceptionally good barista at Medici. They have a very creative menu. I wish I could remember off the top of my head some of the unique items they had, but on the day we came in we just kept it simple. I had a cafe au lait with almond milk, which was excellent. Service was great and very welcoming. Even the bathroom was clean, which is always appreciated when you go places with kids. Hours are also easy to remember - 7 AM to 7 PM! I love this place. I'm a bit of a coffee aficionado and I know a good coffee shop when I visit one; this is the real deal. Just recently opened and running like a dream. The two owners are the sole baristas at this joint, and that seems to work because they are seemingly good friends (to customers and each other). Funnily enough, in talking to one of the baristas, we found that we had a few common friends from the KCMO coffee scene!! The coffee world is small[ish]. The indoor space at Fleet is tight, but I think it works to encourage people to spend some time outdoors or get friendly with their neighbors. The inside is a smallish trapezoid with a low bench online wall and a high bar at another (along the window). Outside, they have several picnic tables and who doesn't love some good ol' vitamin D? They have the essential coffee items that one expects, but they also have some interesting drinks they've conjured up for the adventurous coffee drinker. A donut-infused milk drink, a root beer coffee beverage, and a delightfully crisp drink which I this is best described as a coffee version of a gin&tonic (obviously, minus the tonic). I tried the latter one on my second visit there, and it was AWESOME. First time I visited, I asked for an iced pour over, and they said they could do that, but their iced coffee was actually brewed as a pour over and was ready à l'instant...so yeah, I went with that. First, the coffee is not impressive. You either get bitter or sour. Came here off of two totally different recommendations. After paying an Uber $14 to go out of our way, still walked in with expectations not too high. One of the owners was straight to the point and not very friendly. After we ordered we wanted to check out the merchandise. He kept telling us to go sit down like we were in the way and bothering him. Either get rid of your merchandise or move it. They will not be getting any referrals from me. As you know Austin is saturated in any type of business. After visiting over 25 different businesses in 4 Days, this place was the only off putting one. Seems like you have to be a regular to be a real person. This review is a long time coming, considering how often I go here -- I don't know much about coffee (not, say, as well as I should considering I'm a daily drinker), but I ran into one of the owners months and months before they opened and I was excited about his coffee pedigree and the location of the store -- right beside Lost Well, right across from Dog and Duck, a nice, much-needed convenient pre- or post-boozing coffee shop. After months and months and months of delay, they finally opened, and I was there opening day. The place is smartly and tastefully designed inside, with an eye towards minimalist aesthetics (or aesthetic minimalism, if you prefer). The focus and passion here is coffee, and it shows. I've been here multiple times, from morning to afternoon to early evening, and have been greeted warmly and by name by both Lorenzo and Patrick, the owners/baristas. They've guided me on a journey of coffee appreciation, and they'll recommend something new, or fix me an old standby with the same passion and dedication. The prices are quite comparable to other coffee shops, they will make coffee to go, and they also sell bagged coffee. I enjoy sitting at one on of the little tables inside, or at the window, reading, or working online (free wifi, yay!), or chatting with Lorenzo or Patrick if they aren't rushed or busy. I now no longer think that coffee is best served with copious amounts of half and half (I've never enjoyed black coffee until I started going to Fleet), and that coffee can have a flavor profile as every bit as complex and layered as a craft beer or bourbon. The place is small but not cramped, not really a hang-out place, but there's only so much coffee one can consume in a sitting. It's a warm, intimate, inviting place, and I have high hopes that they stick around, and I've recommended Fleet to friends and foes alike. read more

Suuuuuuuper small coffee house. I had an espresso and it was powerful. The host was super nice but there was a jerk making fun of customers. I tuned him out enjoyed my drink. They compliment your espresso with a shot of topo Chico. Parking is scarce. For the price I might try and different spot but if you are in the area I say stop by and give it a try. You know this place is a super gem in a growing area. Unfortunately a very gentrified street, just old East aside Austin dwindling away with new businesses & start ups. This coffee shop is quaint & has outdoor seating. They offer breakfast burritos in the morning from Veracruz & their prices are pretty normal for coffee shops. 2.50 or so for tea and 3-5$ for different coffee choices. I will say for us vegans, although coconut milk is an awesome alternative, it would be awesome to have almond & soy too. What if someone is allergic to coconut? It's also a bummer to get the 75 cent up-charge for milk alternatives. I understand it's because people usually end up using less alternatives consequently meaning the left overs get wasted... but regardless, market more milk alternative drink options & I bet people would want to try! Now the cafe is always clean and well maintained, stocked with dog treats for my pup when he walks over with me. One thing I got to say is most of the employees seem very displeased with working there!!! Such a bummer. The gal and the older guy in the mornings always carry the same demeanor. The younger fellow with glasses seems to be the only semi-happy employee! Regardless, it's a good space to come in & get a tasty drink or do some work. This is where you might find most of the hipsters in Austin since it has great coffee and cool/modern/unassuming decor. :) Fleet makes the most of its small size by packing a punch with it's decor. So darn well designed. It's a beautiful thing to enjoy. I enjoyed sipping my cappuccino while admiring the efforts that went into building this spot on a not-so-busy street in East Austin. Really cute place for coffee. My so and I visited for my first time early this morning and ended up coming back later this afternoon. We got drip coffee (really good), breakfast tacos, and then a vanilla iced coffee in the afternoon when it was starting to get humid. I generally don't like iced coffee but I liked this a lot! We got the Black Bean, Egg, Avocado and Poblano, Corn, Egg, Avocado tacos and the poblano one was better. Forgot to grab sauce for the tacos but I think that was definitely needed! We also got two pastries from Sour Duck that are sold here and we LOVED them. Definitely planning on commuting to Sour Duck in the future. read more

I think I would prefer to sit at one of the outdoor benches rather than try to squeeze myself in a spot inside. (Although, I hear they are expanding?) As for the coffee - I ordered a plain latte, which was good, but didn't blow me away. I hear the "Morning Ritual" is a must-try, but I'm not a fan of donuts so I probably wouldn't order it! The barista was very friendly - asked me what song requests I had, and had good music taste which was nice! What a cute li'l coffee shop! And by li'l, I mean tiny. But I think the friendliness of the baristas at Fleet make up for its smaller size. Everyone who walks in is treated like a friend, and they're patient with indecisive folks like me. I opted for an iced latte with almond milk - the drink with tip rang up to $7, which is quite a bit steeper than what I would pay for most coffee, even in LA or NYC - while good, I'd maybe opt for one of their house espresso drinks instead, as that would let you try their fun take on a caffeine fix at a more typical price point. While Fleet is a little bit out of the way when I'm visiting Austin, it's worth checking out if you live here - their house espresso drinks sound so good that I regret not ordering one of them! read more

Really good coffee shop in this neighborhood. What i like about this place is they always have really good roast. Today i had a buna roast, it mexican. It had more chocolately strong notes. My husband had a madcap roast from guatemala st lucia. It was amazing. Fruity yet creamy textured and not bitter. Perfect for an espresso based drink. Place is cozy and cool. As cute as a little button. Emphasis on little. This teeny coffee spot is perfect for a quick caffeine fix on the go or a place to sit and ponder while you sip in silence or with a close friend...or stranger, because that's just how tightly packed in you are in this small shop. It's not a deterrent for me, but I guess could be for some given that there might not be a seat available or people are just too close for comfort. There is also available seating outside, which I know must be nice during the nice days of Austin Spring and Fall. The space is chic from exterior to interior. Imagine a stark, yet bright and lively space with white walls and small trinkets and plants so strategically, yet haphazardly placed. It's mid-century modern at it's finest. All in all, the ambiance seems to exude all things happy and light. My almond milk latte was divine and came out in good time (yes, I meant to rhyme :). I have stopped in here a couple of times before or after class and am always treated with consistently good service and a pretty good pricey cup of coffee! I really like all the baristas I have met so far because they are always very friendly and somehow I always end up in conversation with them! I have gotten drip, a cortado, and some sort of aloe matcha drink! Brace yourself when you come because it is very possible you will not get a seat as there are less than ten seats inside and there is seating outside but not much! Very clean place and it is super easy to park! One thing that bothered me a little was how loud the music was and I was surprised to hear quite a bit of profanity the couple of times I have gone so far. They have a lot of specialty drinks so if you are into that then you will probably love this place! I have never gotten anything to eat but every time I have come people are buying food left and right! A good quick stop for a quality cup of coffee! read more

A new coffeeshop to add to my list here in Austin. Although particularly small inside, there is ample room outside near the front. In addition to the standard coffee drinks, they have some fun ones like the Saturday Morning Ritual. I would not recommend this drink for those who don't like their coffee sweet. The time I stopped by, they used fruity pebble infused-milk for the specialty drink and hear they may be changing it up again. My recommendation to Fleet is to use Froot Loops instead--anyone with me? The only negatives I can think of is their drinks being overly expensive--the specialty drinks are easily over 6 dollars. In addition, I had a hard time accessing their main wifi but luckily they do have a back-up so do not be afraid to ask. I spent half an hour thinking my laptop had the issue but apparently other customers also have had that experience. read more
