Family owned business close to Johnson's Pond. We went in on a Wednesday night for dinner, kitchen closes at 9PM, we made it just in time! The place is very clean and the people are very welcoming. There are dart boards and music playing on the nights that there isn't live entertainment. There are three televisions playing sports, keno, and a jukebox. Wieners are very good and fresh. Chicken was juicy and tender with a touch of spice. Drinks were very good.

Yummo Started with my fave, the Yakitori Platter. Marinated bamboo skewers brushed with yakitori sauce, I had; Bacon Leaks, Meatball, Kielbasa, and Shrimp You get to choose 4 Sticks and it's served over White Rice Drizzled with Yakitori sauce, THE BEST Asian fusion, EVER!!! Hubby had the Kim Chi meatball soup, the meatballs are so huge, it's a big bowl of soup, not for those who aren't hungry! We also, for good measure, got one of the signature SCALLION PANCAKE PIZZA!!! It's Topped with scallion and your choice of the following: * Meat Toppings*: Chicken, Beef, Pepperoni, Salami, Kielbasa, Bacon Bits, Salami * Pizza Toppings Olives, Banana peppers, Jalapenos, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Red Onion Make sure to get it with the yakatori sauce! (They do offer other sauces though.) The owner is also the server and he really knows his stuff. Food has been his passion all of his life as he grew up in the restaurant biz. His dad ran a well known and established Chinese restaurant in town until his retirement recently, he'd been in business for 50+ years!! The space is clean and comfortable. I love their bubble tea and I love their pepperoni cheese egg rolls! Those are the primary things I get here. I love me a good bubble tea and they have really good flavors (lychee has been my go too lately), and the egg rolls they are delicious! Me and my fiancé went inside to grab 2 bubble teas the other day. There's enough parking which is great, and I believe they have karaoke in the evenings around 9:30pm ( we haven't tried this yet). The owner is very kind and attention. They've always been kind on the phone and in person as well. They only lose one star because the ambiance was a little off. Customers seemed to stare as if we had twenty heads, but the owner didn't act that way. But that's the reason why it lost one star I felt very uncomfortable and out of place. And as much as I loved it on the inside I doubt I would go inside to eat after that weird feeling.

Nina, who was helpful and so very friendly, alerted us to the full course meal. It happened to be a Monday evening and the full meal special was meatloaf which both Hubby and I do like. It was a full course meal. I ordered a grilled cheese since I knew I would enjoy some of his meal. The grilled cheese was extremely scanty having a very small amount of cheese so I would never select that again. However, the meal itself was quite good. Salad was excellent, meatloaf, vegetable and potatoes were high is scoring too! the dessert which was a phenomenal chocolate mousse cake was perfection. Eating that was heavenly!! So his very reasonable full course meal pleased both of us and we would try that again!!

Something for just about everyone. Last visit I tried the taco salad. Theirs comes with black beans and a choice of ground beef or chicken in a flour tortilla bowl loaded with lettuce, tomato and cheese. This salad is huge. Banana peppers give it a slice kick with a medium salsa and sour cream side to mix in. Exellent dinner salad option. The chicken parm meal comes with spaghetti or ziti and is a large portion. You can also get the chicken parm as a sandwich if you prefer. Breakfast, lunch and dinner service. A local non-profit hosts an annual fund raiser here: a percentage of all meals eaten on a specific day goes to the non-profit organization. The restaurant does this often with local groups. Love that community spirit. Service is always friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking in front and to the side. Restrooms are by the door, a bit older but very clean.

Apparently Lauren's birthday is a pizza festival now…read more For Day Two, I met up with her at The Pizza Nomad in the Center of New England because they have a new pizza called the Detroit Slim. I had questions. Mostly about how something this thick gets to call itself slim. We ordered one cheese and one pepperoni and settled in. Then we saw the pizza, and suddenly Detroit Slim made sense. The answer is geometry. It isn't slim from the side. Not even close. It's slim from above. Instead of the big rectangular Detroit-style pizza most of us know, this thing is long and narrow, cut into four substantial pieces. I immediately loved the size. It gives you everything I want from Detroit-style pizza without requiring what sometimes feels like a contractual obligation to an enormous pan of it. Four pieces. Manageable. Plenty of pizza. But the crust is what got me. Look at the picture of Lauren holding up that cross-section. That's the story. The inside is almost absurdly soft, smooth and airy. Big pockets run through a light, pillowy structure that looks nothing like what you're expecting from the weight of the slice in your hand. Then turn it over. The bottom is golden brown, blistered and crisp enough to make noise. That's the trick. You bite through this loud, crunchy shell and immediately hit something soft, smooth and almost delicate inside. Crunch, then pillow. The two textures shouldn't occupy the same piece of dough this comfortably. But they do. And around the perimeter, things get even better. Cheese escapes down the sides and meets the hot pan, leaving behind those dark, crispy pieces hanging off the edges. The stuff that looks almost burned in the pictures? That's treasure. The sauce has enough presence to survive everything happening around it. You still taste tomato beneath all that cheese, crust and rendered pepperoni. The cheese itself is really good, with enough flavor to be more than just the thing holding everything together. And that pepperoni was fantastic. Some cups. Some curls. Some lies flat against the cheese. The edges go dark and crisp while the centers render their fat into everything underneath them. There is a point with pepperoni where "burned" and "perfect" become separated by about thirty seconds. I like living dangerously close to that line. Pizza Nomad does too. There is also, for reasons I cannot explain, a full-sized medieval knight standing guard over the pizza. I respect this. If you're going to make an inch and a half thick pizza called Detroit Slim, there is no reason a knight can't stand guard over it. The Detroit Slim is a collection of contradictions. It's thick without being heavy. Soft and seriously crunchy. Small enough to feel manageable, substantial enough that nobody is going home wondering what we're having for lunch tomorrow. But I keep coming back to that crust. That soft, smooth, airy interior. The blistered bottom. The cheese cooked hard against the edges. Crispy pepperoni on top of all of it. Every layer has a different job. And somehow, every one of them makes noise. Day Two of Lauren's birthday pizza week is in the books. At this point, I've accepted that her birthday lasts a week. I see no compelling reason to challenge this.

The staff is super nice and attentive. It's an open layout and from what I could see, a well stocked bar. We got the jerk chicken w/honey wings to start which were SO GOOD! They aren't breaded or fried, which I like. Flavorful, hot and tender. I highly recommend them. I got the oxtail with rice and pinto beans. The portion was average but the flavors were spot on. Nice sauce and tender braised meats. My friend let me try her jambalaya, it wasn't like any I've had before, that's not saying it wasn't tasty it was just.... Lighter?! For lack of a better word. For having chorizo in it, I was surprised that it wasn't a heavier rice dish. It was something I would order because of that factor, however. It had nice subtle seasonings that highlighted the proteins in the dish. Very good imo. We got the churros for dessert and do me they fell short. They were dense and I overly "sugared". We weren't rushed and got to enjoy our visit and food at our own pace. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. They had a full smoked BBQ menu in addition to the main menu, which intrigued me. Drop in and give it a try. It's not cheap but I feel worth the money and the portions, as I said, as average sized. I feel if they upped the cost $1 or $2 and beefed up the portions they may get a bigger crowd for that area. All in all def try it out. Cheers!
