A friend recently moved with Flash and he referred us to the owner, Manny. We had originally booked our move with a much pricier big name mover, but Flash's rates were much more competitive. They are a professional moving company and were able to provide the insurance certificate our condo needed. The team arrived 15 minutes early. We moved during COVID-19 and they had masks and gloves which made us feel safe. They came with all the tools, quickly disassembled large furniture, shrink-wrapped everything and got it out of the house. At the destination, they unwrapped, reassembled and took away all packing material. Team was courteous, respectful and all spoke good English. Summary statement: hire them. This team is incredibly professional and efficient. And one of the most affordable quotes I got. Btw cash only! I didn't know this when reserving since they didn't tell me, but looking back at other Yelp reviews others said the same. I obviously prefer to use check but we weren't going to argue since they had a strong preference, and especially when they did a phenomenal job. The details: I first got in touch with Manuel the owner via Yelp who was super quick to respond and very transparent. The price he quoted was the price we paid. It's a flat fee based on items - they do NOT charge you by time unlike some other companies which is so fair because why should I be penalized if there's traffic for example? They wrap and protect everything in the price quoted and will assemble / disassemble if needed. I had another company try to charge me more because they would send 3 instead of 2 people-- I just think that's all unprofessional-- and appreciate Flash Movers isn't nit picky about silly things. Just send the # of people to efficiently do the job so we can all move on with our days, and flash movers does just that. I felt more comfortable sending Manuel an email with pictures of the items before reserving just because I have been burned before with movers, and he replied back that the price was still just that as long as the items were basically what I said I needed moved. I also loved that he upfront was like if I had a few more boxes or like lamps he wasn't going to hold it against me and would be in the estimate. I can understand if you're going to add a large number of boxes or items how that would affect things. We ended up staying below the boxes we estimated but I still appreciate that Manuel was super kind about it all. The new building property manager asked if the movers had insurance so when we emailed Manuel about that, he got the info ASAP. Basically, no stress with this company. The day of the move because of work I couldn't be there but my dad and brother took over and said Cesar and his team of 3 others were amazing. Cesar actually called about 1.5 hours before our scheduled move time saying he was available to come in a half hour and start (ie one hour early). That was great for us because we were ready to go; however, if we weren't, it would have been ok--- I didn't feel pressured by Cesar to say yes to coming earlier and I appreciate that tons. They got everything out of my one bedroom apartment in a half hour and the same amount of time to unload and set up once they go to the new apartment. Seriously, they are true to their name. They were respectful of our items as well and nothing was damaged. And just really nice, solid guys. Kindness goes a long way. Would not hesitate to use again and recommend to my friends and family. Adrian and his team (2 other gentlemen) showed up earlier than expected, which was a plus for us! They packed our apartment in about an hour and some change. I really wish I could give a 10 star review! Ceasar and his team did an outstanding job moving me in the Chicago heat. They were super professional, arriving 15 minutes early to my place. I had 8 flights of stairs and a very large sectional couch that they were able to get out of my place in literally a 'flash'. The move was scheduled to take 4 hours due to the amount of stairs and moving from the southside of Chicago (Pilsen) to the Northside (Lakeview East). I hired these movers because I was told it was $700 to move our 2 bedroom to a 2 bedroom from Humboldt to Logan Square, around a mile. I sent a list of our items to the owner and we were set to go. I want to mention that the actual movers were amazing, they showed up, very friendly, very very hard workers. Cash only by the way. Half way through the move the owner emailed me asking how it's going and I let him know later at night how everything went. First problem was as we were ending the move I was told not all of my stuff would fit and they would need to make a second trip to get the rest of my stuff. They let me know they need space in the back of the truck to put their workers, wildly unsafe and illegal but okay. They then told me it was going to cost me extra for this. They asked what a fair price was and I said $100, they didn't go for it and said it would be more. Not terrible because I have access to a truck and some friends but I hired movers specifically to avoid this and would have gladly paid extra for a larger truck. Second problem was later that night I found some items were scratched in the move, our brand new TV the plastic separated from the frame in the back, a metal kitchen cart was missing paint, a brand new dresser had a scratch on it. Not much they can do about this, I can't fix it but just annoying. I let the owner know all this because he asked and was met with some terrible customer service. Now it should be clear that I was not looking for compensation, the bill had been paid in full. Just voicing my concern and frustration because I was asked. The owner called me a dishonest and a bunch of stuff how the world is full of good people but then some people take advantage, idk maybe he was drunk emailing me at 10:30pm. No idea what they were talking about but it was very inappropriate. Moving in Chicago is not an exact science and I expect some hiccups. Our move was not the worst thing in the world, however for someone to get defensive is just silly. read more

For the price, Flash Movers is absolutely your best bet. I used them for three moves over the past couple years -- condo to temporary apartment, temporary apartment to condo, and transporting old appliances. The fact that I used them multiple times says a lot, since I'm a pretty tough critic. Service is a little hit or miss based on the foreman. First one treated his team poorly, which made me sad. After I mentioned it, Manuel apologized and personally led the team for my second move. I had a few small damages where I didn't take the time to wrap and box pieces myself, like the corners of artwork and a piece of plastic on an unboxed air filter. If you have lots of fragile goods, you're better off going with a pricier company. And they did leave some trash behind from wrapping materials. But all in all, a tremendous value. Note: Cash only! Wow! The Flash Movers Team was EXCELLENT. I specifically worked with Cesar, Luis, and Guadalupe. I hired them to move my larger pieces of furniture from Wicker Park area to Portage Park. Pricing was very reasonable and fair, they arrived right on time, and got my pieces packed up within an hour. They even let me throw a few random odds and ends in to the truck :) Upon arrival at the new place, a few of my pieces wouldn't fit - older house = tight turns up the stairs. They completely dismantled my headboard and put it back together to make it fit! I loved that they didn't want me to end up dissatisfied or left having to get rid of furniture due to this. Perfect moving experience. Easy to schedule ahead of time with Manuel. The movers were on-time in a difficult to find loading zone. They wrapping all of our furniture in blankets and tape, looking very secure. They were very fast while being careful to avoid any damage. We have a crazy heavy wood dresser and they were able to bring it up a set of stairs without taking out the railing. Not sure where all these amazing reviews came from. I was totally misquoted. They arrived and refused to do the job for the price I was quoted. I offered to pay an extra $100. We agreed. Two hours later they refused to finish and left about 20 boxes in my home. I am renting a truck today to finish moving because there is so much left in my home. I asked how much I could give them to finding the job and they said "Not today, we'd have to schedule a second move." I wonder if they are used to moving apartments or something, because the truck they used couldn't possibly fit more than a two bedroom apartment. Regardless, they were nice, very careful and thorough as far as wrapping furniture and protecting everything they moved. Just very disappointed that they refused to finish the job.
