Food was overpriced. We were sat extremely close to the next table to where if you needed to get up one of you needed to move.

Like stepping into a beautiful retro 1950's time capsule... If these walls could talk... So glad we came to Flamingo Lounge! We had dinner here both nights of our two night stay in Seward. Consider making a reservation if you want in on the earlier side (read: before 7pm). We were glad we did. Cocktails here are great. Oaxaca Old Fashioned was a tad on the harsh side (could have used a smoother mezcal), but they did a really nice dry gin martini. The hummus plate came with two different hummuses, pita, and veggies. The fried pickles are an absolute must. You can get a Bucket of Butt (halibut) which is maybe the best I've had. So tender, and the batter was light and perfect. The apple pie nachos were decidedly too much, especially after all that dinner. I also tried the halibut chowder which was excellent. Service was attentive. Highly recommend! read more

It's really too bad that The Flamingo has changed so much Since the new owners and the name change. I hate writing bad things about a local restaurant, but this place just can't seem to get it together. We've tried over the last few years to give them a chance but always leave shaking our heads . I recently had dinner with two friends who are both in the restaurant business and both locals and wow, were we disappointed. the halibut chunks were all stuck together in a galvanized bucket, unfortunately that was what had originally made this place famous and now they are gummy and bland, and served being cold didn't help them. The supposed fried pickles tasted like they had peeled off the pickle skins and fried them, yuck...they were stringy, tough and flavorless. They no longer have the Caesar salad on the menu. The side dished are extremely limited and if you want baked potato to go with your steak ...forget about it ...not on the menu. Think about that...no baked potato in a steak house ...what were they thinking ??? The dessert menu is small and boring. We all love dessert but didn't care for anything they served. But hey ...if you're interested in unique craft cocktails, then I've heard they have some good ones. read more

We loved our dinner at the Flamingo Lounge! We didn't have reservations but they were able to get us in if we ate within an hour and we gladly accepted! The overall restaurant is very cool and funky - you can't stop looking at everything on the walls! The drinks are all super fun - great glassware and cute flamingo toothpicks in every cocktail. To start, we had the Alaskan sourdough with spreads. I'll probably be dreaming about that bread for days. For our main course, we got a bucket of butt and the tammer crab. We added broccoli and tater tots as a side dish. Everything was SO good and delicious!!! read more

We wanted to eat sooner, but the earliest we could get reservations was at 9:00 pm. We were seated on time, but only got three menus for four people. We then waited quite a while, and had to order our drinks and food at the same time when our server finally returned. Drinks came and we waited for the food. At 9:54, still no food yet. Luckily, my wife had a slice of kiwi in her drink, so she had something to eat while we were waiting. The food finally came: her salmon was tasty, but a little dry. My halibut was also tasty, but even drier. The "halibutt" was good, as was the loaded baked potato. This is supposedly a cocktail bar, but I could only get one drink the entire meal. Luckily, there was a bottle of water on the table, so you can serve yourself. The place had great decor, and a funky vibe. Ambiance 9/10. Food 6/10. Service 4/10. read more

First, my family entered greeted warmly by the staff. We did have reservations (thank you Yelp community) so no wait. We needed a large booth for our group and we had a wide collection of food preferences. Let's start with the cocktails. On point and we were delighted with our little flamingo toothpick. I had the Eris, a gin cocktail with lime, cucumber and I'm sure other stuff. It was sure pretty too. My hubby had their version of a Manhattan and declared thumbs up. Their Negroni got a thumbs up from our party too. I don't know beer but my adult son enjoyed a local brew. Sorry I don't know which. Food: the bourbon glazed carrots and roasted Brussels were a table fave. I got their baked potato sans the sour cream, cheese and bacon and ordered their cremini mushroom side and had myself a wonderful vegetarian dish. My hubby had their burger. I loved the name "second largest state" Texas burger. We split fries. Yes, just yes. Their fish and chips were declared good. I also can share their bathrooms are clean (sorry, not sorry) which I appreciate in a bar. The overall ambiance is dark with a slightly kitschy look but fun. Full bar. Fun ambience. Ate here while in Seward. The place is a bit pretentious, including the waitstaff. While looking at the menu, I asked the waiter what the entrees come with. He said,"everything is ala carte". I was shocked that a $38 piece of salmon comes with nothing and the other restaurants will give you at least a side. Anyway, place is extremely loud and expensive. Don't miss this place! Absolutely excellent food, classic lounge decor-deep red, diamond tuck upholstery and marvelous old decanters displayed in the back lit walls. Service was great even though we had 13 people. They open at 5pm, must have reservations during high tourist times. Make early in the day reservations! After our last visit was so good, we made plans to come back this visit for dinner and also Sunday brunch. The server was great, atmosphere still very crowded and loud but fun. Dinner took a bit, and wasn't quite up to the last visit but still good. The Texas burger went over well with our teen, and he and my wife devoured the fried pickles and (very spicy!) dipping sauce. Our younger kiddo got the tots and a burger and enjoyed them, but my wife and I and the teen all thought they were dry and lacking flavor. My wife and I got steaks. Both were charred hard- my wife was okay with it but my NY was almost inedible because the char was crunchy and made the whole steak taste burnt- I couldn't taste any other flavors. Everything at the table, including the sautéed mushrooms and the horseradish sauce, lacked salt/seasoning. That said, it was still a tasty meal overall and a great local option. Desserts are lacking still, and we opted out again. Brunch was interesting. The front door person seemed slightly annoyed with life, but we had the same server we had on Friday and she was as pleasant as before. It got crowded quickly and everything came out at different times. It was cold inside with the door open and I ordered a hot tea and it seems that is unusual- it took awhile, and the offerings were all fruity and caffeine free and no sugar with it. The coffee was hot and very strong, and the OJs were just okay. The oatmeal the youngest and I ordered was delicious, but did not come with the mentioned brown sugar. However, it came with toasted walnut pieces that were delicious, fresh blueberries and a vanilla favored milk of some sort. The milk flavor made up for the brown sugar but the oatmeal was barely warm when we got it and the cold milk only made it worse. The hash browns are the triangle ones that come frozen but they were delicious, fried well. The two egg breakfast the teen ordered came as a scramble type of thing which wasn't what we expected or wanted but the flavors were good. The blueberry pancakes were great, fluffy and just the right amount of fresh blueberries. The syrup should be heated as well, as it was thick and goopy, and cooled down the pancakes immediately. The over easy eggs for both my wife and the kiddo were perfect. Abut 3/4 of the way through we started getting smoked out from the kitchen- our eyes were burning and we all decided we were just done. Not sure what they were prepping/cooking but wow. That said, it was still a good brunch, and you could tell a lot of people were coming in and taking advantage of their brunch bar drinks with their food. read more

We typically go to Seward, Alaska around Labor Day. This weekend happened to be Mermaid Fest which provided us a great excuse to take the 2.5-hour drive down from Anchorage, relax, and find new eats. Formerly called the Thorn's Showcase Lounge, which wed visited for years, the Flamingo Lounge took over in 2022. We thought it was sold and was going to be gutted when we walked by in 2022. We are so happy with the transformation. They took a fun, tired place, embraced and shined up the wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling kitschy throwback vibe that this restaurant-bar was known for, free oldies music included. They also re-vamped the menu and added unique cocktails, including non-alcoholic choices which we appreciated. Prices are commensurate with the service, quality, and quantity of food that you get. My guy had a 6-piece Bucket of Butt (1oz chunks of halibut) with a perfectly creamy, tangy, tartar sauce. We also split a juicy, bacon-y, jalapeno (not spicy), pineapple-y, 2nd Largest State (Texas-size) burger, and light, crisp, airy flavorful fries. FYI, although some Texans may think theyre the biggest state, Alaska is the largest and blows all lower 48 states away in size. Speaking of States, some of you may know Im from Hawaii. After becoming an accidental Alaskan resident in 2017, I realize that there is a special connection between Alaska and Hawaii, and the Flamingo Lounge was no exception. They even have a drink called Pele's curse. Special Mahalo to Chap and Morgan for their aloha spirit, and recommendations (scrumptious date cake)! Cheers to the chef and staff for the exceptional customer service, and the great care they took not only in the taste of our food, but also with the pretty presentation. We highly suggest that all Seward locals and tourists visit the Flamingo Lounge, so that they can remain open for decades to come. We definitely will be back. A hui hou! read more

The restaurant decor is funky with pink velvet and chrome and bench seating. If you want privacy not the right place for it is a lounge type with tables situated along benches with chairs on opposite side. Great decor and music. There is no resemblance of flamingos other than the pink and merch! We had the bread board with butter spreads. The presentation on a paddle was cool and taste was excellent! For our meal hubby had a blue burger. I had a bucket of butts, fried halibut, so light and delicious! My husband asked to share so we got larger portion, don't do it, pieces are big, not a nugget! Also French fries order is plenty to share! Hubby also had a cup of halibut chowder and enjoyed it! Cool place, great staff and owner / manager welcomed us with a great greeting! the service was excellent. if you know that flamingos use to be Thors Showcase Lounge and have come for the bucket of halibut and fries it's not the same. the halibut tasty but not the same the fries were chewy. we sent the back with our server admitting that they were below their standards. the ambience was great they left the same warmth and historical decor but add some improvements. if you go to the flamingos just don't expect Thors. read more

It was rainy while we were in Seward, so we decided to come in from camping and enjoy a meal we didn't make and it was one of the best choices we made in Alaska. I was not starving so I just got the fried pickles, but we also got the bread board and that was more than enough food. Both were great with me trying to make sure I didn't eat all the bread and butter. My partner had the half a crab and loved it. We had a few cocktails, all of which we nice. We had a larger group of 8 and the restaurant had no problems accommodating out party. The waitstaff were very friendly and our server was fantastic with the recommendations. The portions for sides and even the mains were large enough they could be shared. The short rib, was very tender and the wedge salad is large enough 3 people could share it. I would recommend going to the Flamingo to experience true service. They have managed to keep what matters most to a customer, great food and great service. Before you do anything, make a reservation. There is good reason it is so popular. We sat at the 'Chef's Table', which is a counter that seats 4 looking into the kitchen. Fun place for a couple. The food is all good to great, and of course don't miss the 'bucket of butts'. The service is surprisingly good considering how busy it was. I almost forgot, the Tanner Crab is well worth ordering, serves two assuming you are ordering other things also. Don't miss the Flamingo or the Alaska SeaLife Center. read more

Finding a restaurant that stays open late in Seward is tough! The Flamingo Lounge was the last one open and I arrived just in time to order dinner. The atmosphere was nice and the service was perfect. I sat at the bar and the hostess made sure someone attended me right away. Everyone was very friendly. I ordered the hamburger and tots. The burger was very tasty and I couldn't finish the tots -- there were so many. One order would feed two, or three! I highly recommend this place. Thank you for being open late! read more

Flamingo Lounge is great! We booked a reservation for our first night in Seward and enjoyed it so much that we made a return visit on our last night. This place is popping though so I suggest booking a reservation if possible. The second night, we were lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar and had a good time visiting with our waiter/bar tender Ben. Ben was a cool dude and was on top of his game the whole time. My husband ordered the 28 dollar steak sandwich, nice portion and delicious. I had the BLT sandwich, it was very tasty, good price too. My only complaint was the waitress asked if we wanted fries as a side and we both said yes, thinking it was part of the meal. This restaurant was the perfect place to go after a long day of hiking and sightseeing in the rain! The atmosphere was cozy, and the food was incredible. We had the bacon wrapped dates, the crab legs and the bucket of butt. We also got the roasted carrots and the chowder! All the dishes were so good but the chowder, halibut and crab were the stars for sure! The carrots were good, but a little crunchy still, and I like roasted carrots on the softer side and sweeter. The cocktails were also amazing and our server was super helpful! I would definitely recommend flamingo lounge to anyone visiting Seward! We were a party of four, and though it's a steakhouse, none of us had steak, but all the steaks we saw delivered to tables looked delicious!Two of us had the tanner crab (half pound), one had the Cobb salad, and I had the twenty-eight dollar sandwich. Everyone was happy. The crab was sweet and easy to get to. The salad had all of the important ingredients, and my sandwich was a real treat! It was SO tasty - and huge! I have my husband about a third of it. I should have ordered some sort of vegetable side dish, though, to round out my dinner. The ambiance was great. Our only issue was the seating. They had these kitschy love seats that were great for setting a mood, but one at our table kept rolling backward because the floor seemed to be uneven. My sister had to hold herself in place through dinner and got a good workout on the one leg. I probably won't get back to Seward, but if I did, I'd eat here again. We were referred to this restaurant by an attendant on our flight to Alaska and were glad we checked it out! read more
